Arranged Marriages are an INJUSTICE?
-
salam LoteTree
you guessed right. We are pakistani and yes we do get forced to marry our first cousins. Until we run out of first cousins. we have a lot(lots and lots)of girls in our family so you are supposed to feel privileged to be able to marry a first cousin.
At the moment there are some debates going on in Bradford about marrying 1st cousins. Apparently ther are diseases and disabilities linked to marrying 1st cousins then their children marrying 1st cousins also etc. -
Hi Tahira,
Salam peacefulmuslim
Always Nice to have you online.Same here.
I was feeling a bit low today, was talking to a friend on the phone and she was having a nice (arranged) married life till HER brother divorced HIS (her hubbies) sister.
Now he wants to get revenge for his sister from her. That's evil evil
Why do parents keep doing this to their kids when they know the outcome of marriges arranged this way where one guy marrys the other guys sister then the other guy marrys his sister..
I know. Arranged marriages are itself wrong. And on the top of it, marrying off siblings to the same family is ridiculous. Wonder why parents dont foresee the obvious possible dangers of it. (
His parents are pushing him to get revenge for his sister from my friend and she has 6 kids too.
I dont understand why some men tend to listen to their family when their family suggest some thing wrong? Dont they have their own brains? Cant they not differentiate whats right and whats not?
Poor girl ! Having and upbringing 6 kids is not a joke. Doesnt the guy see it?evilTo top it up, He goes to read Jummah and comes back home with all these quotes that have been preached there from Hadith. Then he uses those quotes to make here life miserable.
The recent one hes come home with is that Hes been told that he is allowed to have affairs with other women because our Prophet(PBUH) had an affair with an unmarried woman and had illegitimate children from her. He tells her this is what the Quran + Hadith says and confuses her into thinking they are the same thing.Nothing but Chauvinism! Pathetic loosers who cant use their brains!
So obviously she doesn't question what he has learnt at mosque.
She should think on her own. Everyone should.
All I can do is comfort her and try to convince her hes lying.
I am sorry to know ur friend's state.
I hope and pray things work out well for her. Here's the Moral yet again Women need to wake up and realise their rights. Also women should be independent and should stand on their own feet, no matter what. In a sense, we are all on our own in this world.

SaLaM Tahira and SM and PM
Yes Tahira I AM adorable and I AM one of a kind giggle . You are too kind to say that.
I guess he sitting home now and cry because we don't want to whip him
Im heart broken SM. Really cry

There is a verse in the Quran that talks about women keeping their earning. But i remember reading that verse with someone and we both agreed that Even reading the Quran, God does point towards women making a living for themselves. Its only the 3rd world countries that stop women from working. Either that or insecure men who think that their wives might get a bit too independant.

Hello Tahira,
salam LoteTree
you guessed right. We are pakistani and yes we do get forced to marry our first cousins.Oh Tahira, it is so sad to hear that people forced into marriages -(
Arranged marriages perhaps may be acceptable when the boy and the girl has a say but forced marriages are despicable! At the moment there are some debates going on in Bradford about marrying 1st cousins.
Yes, I heard that some MP is setting out some bill to outlaw first cousin marriages in Pakistani communities...
Apparently ther are diseases and disabilities linked to marrying 1st cousins then their children marrying 1st cousins also etc.
Yes, this is the case Tahira, lots of inherited genetic diseases. Thalacyma is one of the common diseases to be passed in first cousins marriages.
It is about time that Women of the Indian Subcontinent and also in all the Traditionalist must Societies must stand up and reclaim their human diginity...

In our societies, we dont marry first cousins at all.
They are like our siblings and we grow up like that.
There is no marrying them.
And the other reason being, ' the risks of inherited disorders' are well recognised. -
Hi Tahira,
Surrey currently.
Peace! -
LoteTree are you from the uk?
Yes, from Merry England -)...But my family roots are in the Indian Subcontinent...

You guys are so lucky you're not living in pakiford. OOPS i meant bradford. It is like the Big Apple for immigration up here.
Bradford 3 is the worst. The majority are muslims and the men are completley out of control while the women have to wear hijabs and stay inside. Its like all the criminal activity in bradford starts there. -
