Hi, ik75243,
Possibly related to 6512?
"Allah is He Who created seven Firmaments and of the earth a similar number. Through the midst of them (all) descends His Command that ye may know that Allah has power over all things, and that Allah comprehends, all things in (His) Knowledge."
Roughly, seven heavens and seven earths = "seven pairs"
Second half of both verses seems consistent with one another as well, but just a totally uneducated guess on my part.
1587 is also listed as relevant in the code 19 discussions where "seven pairs" is interpreted completely differently than my guess above
http//www.message-of-god.com/Proof%20of%20the%20Quran.htm
Obviously others here will be much more knowledgeable about it...
Cheers,

The verse in no way means seven heavens and seven earths, the verse says We have given YOU, i(.e. to Mohammad, it can also be humanity,) seven pairs and the Quran
therefore it can't be that Mohammad was given 7 earths and 7 heavens in addition to the Quran, it makes no sense
the traditions say they are the 7 verses of Al Fatiha
R K says they are the 14 initials from the 28 arabic initials
i'm sure you know that
both does not make full sense but the one by the traditions makes more sense than R K one, i'm still researching it as i remember i read some good info about it over a year ago but can't locate it now somehow, i'm still looking though, it is interesting to see if we can figure out what those 7 pairs mentioned in the Quran are

the verse is stating 7 universes and 7 earths not heavens.
My understanding of the verse God is saying 'we have given you' each one of you the 7 pairs. My initial thought was physical like 'eyes, hands, arms, feet, legs' etc....' But I have no earthly idea. And the 7 universes aren't given to us, since we cant reach them.
Whomever GOD wills to guide, He renders his chest wide open to Submission. And whomever He wills to send astray, He renders his chest intolerant and straitened, like one who climbs towards the sky. GOD thus places a curse upon those who refuse to believe.
thanks

Just a thought, there's seven wholes on your face. Two Ears, Two Eyes, Two Lips and Two Nostrils.
I got this idea from a book I read a while back called Childlight (by Hilarion) and it talked about parables told through stories, one such example was snow white and the seven dwarfs, and how the oldest version is a parable for being born into the world and experiencing the senses. The example below is a paraphrase of the book from notes I jotted down;
In the womb the only primary sense is that of touch, most other areas of signles are 'muted.' The foetal body is covered with fine hair, as the feoutus turns in the womb the amniotic fluid moving past the hairs causes a sensation to be felt in the skin. This feeling in the epidermal layer is the constant companion of the foetus, it is around this sensation that the rudimentary intelligence of the foetal body sets the notion of 'I'- the ego or self.
At the moment of birth the muted existence is shattered by the crashing of new sensations instead of one/unified skin related feeling of self the infant finds confused sensations coming in through seven specific openings-all in the head.
Now in the story from what I can recall, as I did not actually take notes for this part, there is three drops of blood from either a person or apple that start the story with a child running, this coincides with the cutting of the embilical cord (which consists of three distinct tubes) and departure of the womb (symbolized by the dark forrest) and when the child confronts the seven dwarfs it is relating to the experience of each center for the first time, hence the names ie sleepy, sneezy, etc...
Sorry for deviating but I feel this information will be quite helpful to alot of people. The book is out of print but I found it in my library and it is also avaible used on abebooks.com.
Good day all. )

Peace All,
Here's some "seven" significance
The neutral pH - the pH level of pure water.
The number of notes in the musical scale
The number of colors of the rainbow
The number of primary chakras in the subtle energy system
The number of dwarves in the movie Snow White
Peace,

Salaam
I don't think it can mean that in my opinion. Reason being because there are people that are born deformed i.e. one ear or no ear etc.
But anyway I would love to hear more ideas from members on this because it's interesting.

Peace Pac,
Following is Dr. Shabbir Ahmed's explanation/exposition from QXP. It seems the good doctor maintains that the word "sab'a" in Arabic does not necessarily mean "seven", but can also mean "several".
1587 We have given you several examples from history that repeats itself, and We have given you this Sublime Qur?an that defines the Laws of the rise and fall of nations. (3923).
Peace,

This is the thinking of all selfmade "Muftis" here. Every one is just guessing what he likes.
015.087
015.087 And We have bestowed upon thee the Seven Oft-repeated (verses) and the Grand Qur'an.Al-Qur'an, 015.087 (Al-Hijr )
This verse is mentioning the seven verses of Surah Fatiha,,,which is preface of Quran.
Because surah fatiha is considered separately as a preface. But that does not mean is is not part of quran as a whole..The reason of mentioning it is that these seven verses are recited most often and are Important part of Qiyaam in prayer.
W'AllahuAalam.
Regards.

This interpretation you provide will make sense if one follows that particular theology of the Traditionalists. It certainly falls in line with what is done in prayers and according to your thinker's contruction of the Traditional system.
I'm not saying that your interpretation is wrong concerning this, but it is one I'm in disagreement with. You must realize that you are comparing different systems here, your own with that of the many others here.

It would be better if you would answer then, what is the right meaning of it.

Thats why I say free-minds is a Zoo of ideologies. There are only a few sects out in sunni and other muslim groups. But this free-minds has hundreds of sects. Every person brings his own new Fitnah.
Denying traditionalism does not mean that it is a Farz on you to give some totally rubbish new meaning to some verses. You may leave some verses as it is also.

I read recently that the 7 pairs refers to the 14 arabic initials used at the beginning of some of the chapters of the Qur'an.
try this link It is a bit spooky, and I'm not sure how reliable the maths is, and where the original numbers came from, but it looks like a lot of hard work went into it and the poor guy's calculator must have been working overtime trying to figure it all out... He seems to be confident of the outcome and has a lot of Qur'anic "evidence" to back up the maths so it's worth looking at in more detail... if you like maths!! ) )

I do not have an answer for it. I do not agree with your's because I do not have the same stand with you when it pertains to salat. So your understanding is unacceptable to me because when it is said to me "aqeemoo salat" it does not involve the consistent recitation of the 7 ayatin of chapter 1.
Thats why I say free-minds is a Zoo of ideologies.
Okay, that's fine.
There are only a few sects out in sunni and other muslim groups.
I disagree. There are more than just a few sub groups of these Traditional heirarchies.
But this free-minds has hundreds of sects. Every person brings his own new Fitnah.
Well, I'm not sure of there are even a 100 members to make 100 sects. Not all the people here are proclaimed muslimeen.
Denying traditionalism does not mean that it is a Farz on you to give some totally rubbish new meaning to some verses.
If it's not islam than what is it to you? You can't go around defacing people because they give new meaning to ayatin through intense study.

These are typical numerologists deceptions. Those deceivers call them "pairs" because of the following deception (taken from point 15 in http//www.submission.org/simple.html )
"14 different Arabic letters, form 14 different sets of "Quranic Initials" (Such as
A.L.M., of 21) and prefix 29 suras. These numbers add up to 14+14+29=57 19 X 3"Dr. Khalifa had to spell out the Arabic letter N (noon) into "N W N" to make the totals for chapter 68 divisible by 19. He thus added another letter W and inadvertently made the number of letters 15 and not 14. He got caught up in his own web of lies as you can see above.
Note also that in the link that you provided in Table 1, row 2, they put N and not N W N because they know that it messes up their "end of the world" calculation and many others of their ridiculous calculations.
These are all the classical hallmarks of numerology and its deceptive techniques. If hard work went into it then this only proves that working hard doesn't count as much as working smart.
