I have read everybodys posts, glad to see some people agree with me on the jinn / 'unseen' thing.
Im not translating the quran to suit my needs, I am simply putting forward an opinon for discussion. Jinn DOES mean 'unseen', and to me it is clear it was used lots of times meaning different things.
All I am trying to do is help people realise what many muslims consider to be JINN is not the case... and can be solved by psychologists / doctors / science.
I get very angry when i see people especially in poorer contries thinking a JINN has come or if they give money to someone they can make JINN go away etc etc when actually what they are experiencing is just natural / an illness....
we need to be smart and throw away assumptions and investigate things.... reinterpret things.... IJTIHAD. In 2006 we know ghosts dont exist, we live in a time of mass communication and we know a lot about science, so lets stop pretending jinns exist when no one has seen one.

someone one here said to say that they seen a jinn physically not just thinking somehting was in the room...well i can honestly say that i have seen a shapeless form floating in my old apartment...it was black in color like smoke but it held no shape for a long time it simply moved slowly on ceiling sort of like smoke when you smoke a cigarette it moves slowly and has no shape kind of doesnt hold a shape like when when someone tries to make a smoke ring it doesnt stay that shape it keeps moving kind of thas the only way i can explain it...
also, yes i was the only person present when it happened but another time in the same apt i was in the shower and looked out and seen red colored like bars i dont know maybe column or bars but they were comign up from the floor right at the point of where the door separated the bathroom from the hallway and my mother also witnessed it visually and she isnt and wasnt muslim at the time....
how does one explain this? i really dont know if they are "jinn" or what
one could reasonably assume maybe i had a hallucination but for another person to see it also at the same time how could that be a dual hallucination

Your mother saw the "red colored like bars" NOT the supposed "being" that you originally saw. The "red colored like bars" that occured right at the connection between the two rooms can have several explanations, perhaps light diffraction, etc.

Me and my old college roommate both heard children's laughter and screams. We both saw light switches go on and off, and we both witnessed a really old oven that needs matches to start up get flaming hot to the point of making a haze in the kitchen. The list goes on and on but all of these things were experienced by both of us at the same time. And I can attest that she's not crazy... I wonder about myself sometimes though D

Yes Ayman, that can be also an explenation, as their brain searched for recognisition in the light they say. If it resembled a shape of a being for about 40-60%, their brain will pass it on to the conciousness as recognising it as a being.

I didn't wanna bore anyone but since you asked ... ;D
It was a very very old apartment with old English style architecture in Egypt so it was at least as old as colonialism. That would set it back over a century. After a very long and frustrating day of trying to find a decent apartment in our price range, we were reluctantly given a tour of this place. Just like old English style apartments, it was quite spacious on the inside. More bedrooms than we needed, plenty of large balconies, wide open living room and a long corridor to get to the bedrooms. The weird thing was the bathroom was a foggy glass sliding door, which always freaked out anyone coming over LOL
Anyway the rent was super-cheap, considering all the perks that came with the apartment. The owner seemed too eager to make a contract with us, he was even lowering the price without us saying anything! We thought it was a steal so the next day we set up the contract with him. He took all the rent in advance (which seemed very strange to us) and as soon as we signed on the dotted line, he thought he'd mention, "I need to say this so my conscience rests. You're two girls living alone. You should know that this square (midan) you're living in is known for alot of youngsters coming to deal drugs. So I would suggest you don't look to your left or your right when you're getting out of your apartment". Of course that was a really crappy thing to do. Someone should've told us before we signed the contract if they really cared. Anyway we realized then we couldn't really depend on him too much.
Despite the new predicament we found ourselves in, we were both extremely excited about our new apartment and quickly went about unpacking and cleaning and stuff.
That night we both had scary nights in each of our bedrooms, but never told each other until much later. We both figured let's not scare the crap out of each other and keep it to ourselves. For me it was freaky because the light switch is old and you have to press on it to turn on and press on the bottom part to switch off. It makes a loud clicking sound each time. Had it been just that the electricity was weird, the light switch wouldn't switch on and off with a clicking sound you could distinctly hear. So there I was eyes wide open with the light switching on and off. Then I felt a cold draft of air, and mind you this is Egypt (too hot for my taste). I heard a man's voice speaking in a language I never heard of and his voice kept getting louder and louder and then broke into a laugh. The light went back on and everything was gone. I later found out my friend kept seeing an image of a man's face on her wall. She thought it was just light playing on the wall from somewhere so she put down all the curtains. It was still there. So she switched on the light and the same image of a man's face with light turned into a shadow of a man's face.
Next day we started exploring the kitchen. We quickly realized how dangerous the oven is cuz you have to turn the gas on and then hold a match until it catches, meanwhile burning half your arm off. So we figured we'll stick to the stove part and never bake anything.
About a week's worth of hearing and seeing things, both of us confessed to each other that something is a little strange in the apartment. Its funny I was still thinking I don't wanna freak her out so let me make it a joke, and she was thinking the same thing. So when it finally came out, we were both laughing this nervous fake laugh and making it as if the whole thing is quite amusing. Neither of us went into any details at that point. At that point we both decided (without really saying it) to stick around each other as much as possible. We pretended it would be fun to sleep out in the living room and talk all night instead of each going to her separate bedroom.
Things started taking a turn for the worse when we would both hear the bedroom doors slam shut at night. We would walk down the long corridor (no lights were installed) to see if there's a window open or something. Then we started hearing a bunch of children playing. They were laughing and giggling, you could tell they were having fun. We both kind of stood frozen in the corridor at that point. Then all of a sudden the cute innocent laughs turned into blood-curdling screams, as if something horrible was happening to them. We both jumped and grabbed each other's hands. Then the screams faded away and we were stuck in the middle of the corridor. At that point, neither of us wanted to go all the way down to where the doors slammed shut. We went back, she grabbed a candle in the living room and we went again together. It turned out there were no windows open and we felt no draft in the room. We put one of my suitcases against the door to keep it open and halfway down the corridor it slammed shut again with the suitcase left on the doorstep. The light in the kitchen turned on. The screaming came back.
A few nights of these episodes and we were both thoroughly spooked. Neither of us could get a wink of sleep and it was effecting our studies. She's Egyptian Christian so she immediately told her father to get her in contact with a priest. He came one bright day with some blessed oil. He went in each room and blessed it, making a cross on the furniture and walls with the oil ???
Anyway, he came out and told us we really should get out of there. He had a very troubled look on his face. My friend asked him if whatever was there will be gone now. He said "there's no need to fight this. Just get out. That's my only advice."
On the advice of some college friends, an Egyptian sheikh came over as well. He sat down and read quran in a really loud voice, travelled through the rooms splashing ZamZam water all over the place. ??? When he was done, surprisingly he said the same words as the priest.
After that, we really never left each other's side. If one had to go out the other did too. If one had to stay in the other followed suit. There was one night though that she said she was going to visit her father and I'm coming with her. I agreed but by the time she was ready to leave it was the butt-crack of dawn and I was exhausted from half sleeping every night. She kept insisting I go, I kept insisting I don't go. She finally left reluctantly and I fell asleep on the couch. All of a sudden extremely strange things started happening all at once. Doors slamming shut, the glass sliding door for the bathroom screaching open and closed. I called her immediately for her to come back, which she did. It was then that all the pots and pans fell from the cubbards onto the floor in the kitchen. We both went inside to find this weird heat and haze in the kitchen. Neither of us ever fooled around with the oven so it was particularly disturbing to find it on and burning hot. Then we heard banging on one of the doors that slammed shut. Like a fist was pounding the door. My friend screamed at me to get out with her and I kept telling her it's ok I won't. Which to this day I have no clue why I said that. I told her I need to go to the bathroom and she kept insisting to follow me inside and I insisted she doesn't (no clue why again). She waited for me outside in the corridor. I felt very sick all of a sudden and washed my face with cold water. It wasn't helping. I fainted and don't remember any of the following Apparently, she heard me fall so she ran inside. She found I was lying on the floor bleeding from my mouth and my eyes were open but not responsive. She was screaming at me and slapping my face around with cold water - no response. Then she said I started speaking in a language she didn't understand but yet my eyes didn't blink and I was still lying on the floor. She kept yelling at me to get up off the floor, but I didn't respond i just kept saying all this stuff in a foreign language. She had some blessed water from the priest in her room and she ran to go get it. Meanwhile, I woke up and found myself alone lying on the floor in a pool of blood. I was really disoriented and scared. She came back and I could tell she was scared out of her pants. She kept doing all these crosses on the water and on herself and on me and I'm like whoa what's wrong. She yelled at me to drink it and I told her I'm not thirsty LOL
It went on for a few minutes of her yelling at me to drink the water. We were both sitting on the bathroom floor at that time and suddenly I saw this black shadow above her and I really couldn't speak. Then she felt something go up her back and jumped and told me I JUST FELT SOMETHING TOUCH MY BACK! Which is when i told her i just saw something behind you.
She grabbed me and said " so help me if i have to beat you to a pulp, you will drink this water and you will get dressed and get out of here with me"
At that point i took her seriously D
I drank up the water which made me feel really sick for some reason. She said no matter what don't throw it up even if you feel you want to. Then she dragged me out. I kept pushing her back telling her to go and i wanted to stay (still have no clue why i kept saying that). She forced my sleeping-clothes off and dressed me. Even at the front door i was still protesting. We started hearing the little kids' laughter again and that's when she dragged me out of there. At her father's house a priest was waiting. He performed what i think was an exorcism on me. I really didn't feel like that was necessary but they all insisted.
I had an Indonesian friend that kept pestering me to go to this guru. He taught in al-Azhar. He was really into metaphysical stuff, walking on hot coal etc. I went really only to entertain my friends' curiosity for me to go and check it outHe heard my whole story through translation. He asked for family names. He then told me he can see auras on people and he can tell that my aura is a light yellow which means that I am harmonious with my enviornment and I don't cause mischief or go against society to bring trouble. That means that no spirits would be angry with me. He then fasted for a bunch of days and asked me to come back at the end of his fast. When i came back, he went in the other room to do a very long prayer. Through translation i learned he was meditating to get into another state of consciousness so that he can contact the jinn that were in the apartment. He came back to tell me that there was a family of four jinn. They were angry because I allowed for my friend to take down old frames that came with the apartment and put instead of them crosses. That was really weird because that really did happen and i never told him or anyone else that! I never even mentioned that my friend is christian! It took me a couple minutes to even remember that incident because it seemed to me so insignificant but its true. The frames had Allahu Akbar written on them but they were extremely filthy with years of dust on them and the plate itself was rusted over. So I didn't mind that she took it down because she said it scared her. Putting up crosses to me was no biggie either because a cross has no significance to me. It may for her and to me that's fine. But according to this Indonesian guru/sheikh (whatever you wanna call him) the family of jinn were angry that I allowed her to do that. They didn't mean to harm me but they were just giving me a warning not to do that again. He then told me to do ablution, which i did. He made me do salat but without tahiya. I was to sit on my knees and say fatiha again then salam on both sides. He asked me to do this salat next to him too. After that he brought water. He told me its important that i keep my eyes closed and never open them for the next step. He said i must keep doing thikr and not stop for a second. When he puts a cup in my hand, I am to say bismillah and drink the water all at once without stopping with my eyes still closed. Only after i finish should I open my eyes. So at that point I was sitting there mentioning God's attributes etc, and i hear him whispering something. I think he was reciting some ayat and i can tell it was in the cup because the sound was a little muffled. Then he started breathing in a strange way. Pushing air out with force and taking deep short breaths with force as well. When he gave me the water I did the rest. he then informed me that i have a guardian jinn who will protect me from any being, human or otherwise who wishes physical harm on me. And to prove it he asked me to sit on the floor in the middle of the room.one of his students took a belt and tried to hit me with it. Each time he tried, it appeared as though he was being lifted and thrown back and slammed against the wall. Then he took a huge a** butcher knife that he cut a tomato with and tried to cut my arm with it which didn't cut. Then he asked me to eat glass but I refused lol There's only so much I'll entertain D Someone else did though and he just munched on it like it was chips ;D really weird.
Anyway, i still question whether what this dude did was legit or not, but its beyond my understanding so i don't flat out dismiss it as hokus pokus and i don't fully accept it either.
It was then that we decided to swallow our pride and pack up and leave.
The funny thing is the night we were leaving the owner came down to survey the apartment and see if there was any damage. There was an extra bedroom neither of us went into. We just both cleaned it the first day and closed the door and never went in there again. The first thing he did was enter that room. He went passed the living room, dining room, balconies, kitchen. It was kind of strange. When he opened the door he looked straight at the bed. I was with him and I was pretty shocked to see all the bed covers messed up as if someone slept there! He was really interested in those bedcovers which seemed very strange to me. He kept examining the bed. Then after surveying the rest of the place, he asked us both what the real reason is for leaving. We told them we just don't like the neighborhood. For some reason that excuse didn't satisfy him and kept asking the same question over and over. We both looked at each other and knew that he knows but were too pissed off at him to give him the satisfaction of telling him anything.
That's pretty much it.

But this is basically the reason why I don't buy that there are no unseen beings. I don't know if they were jinn or not but whatever was there was definitely there.
I know this whole thing sounds really crazy but I assure you we both are very rational normal people (Thank God) and I'm not particularly superstitious or anything.
You can accept it or not that's your decision. But no one is going to really convince me that it was all one big hallucination.

Wow, that's like an amazing story tbh, one could make a movie out of it...I mean if it happened to me, I'd probably be curled up in a fetal position for quite some months...Thanks so much for sharing and I don't mind the length at all. I wanted to know about the pool of blood tho', where did it come from? And when you were talking this strange language, did you know what you were saying? What were your own experiences at the point you spoke the language? Was it all a blur or daze? Then, did you guys ever go back to the apt to stay? Or did you leave without staying there? And when you did go back to hand it over to the landlord, were there any additional occurences?
Is that the only time something like this happened? I mean I would think it's enough for a lifetime but still...I really don't have any answers for what you and your friend experienced and that guru guy seemed a bit over the top but the fact that he knew something, hmm. I have had some strange occurences of my own, one not so long ago but this takes the cake!

The pool of blood was probably from the fall when i fainted. I was standing up and just fell forward and hit my face on the tile, busting my lip. By the time i got up it was a mess.
And about the language part, i don't even remember doing that. She said it happened once she came in after hearing me fall. i was just lying there saying all this stuff she couldn't understand but it sounded like a language not just mumbo jumbo. by the time i got up, i was alone because as she says, after hearing me do that she ran to get 'holy water' or whatever. so i have no recollection at all of anything that happened before her coming back with the cup of water. so yea that's all her account, which i have no reason to doubt her on it. when she came into the bathroom she looked like scared of me or something and i of course was scared of me fainting but more freaked out by the way she was looking at me ...After that whole episode we both stayed at her dad's place. and just going during the day together to pick up anything we needed. by the time everything was done with the indonesian guy, there was one night left before we hand over our keys. so that night was the only night we spent there to pack up and clean. surprisingly nothing happened at all!

They just went on with their conversation cuz they didn't know anything about what we were going thru but it obviously scared the crap out of me lol
So me and my roommate concluded that it must be the same language even though she didn't witness the thing in my room, or the janitor guy. In fact she didn't know about those times until she started telling me that i was talking like that, and then i told her about it. But it just seemed too much of a coincidence that it was also a language she couldn't recognize.So now i'm curious to know your story if you don't mind sharing? Come on i don't wanna be the only crazy one D just kidding

you reminded me of alot of things but i can discuss outside of this chat
i known alot of odd paranormal things and when i read some other thread about thinking they the jinn could help them but they brought them adversity or something
i think i know why i had so much issues with this
i before becoming muslim at around 14-15 was involved with the wrong people who continually played with spirists called on spirists etc
i guess it was my fault unknowingly since i didnt know about islam then
im sure it is bad to be with witches and evil worshippers and become part of them due to immense pain and tragedy in ones life
im sure the things i used to call for help demons devils etc are pissed
i no longer call on them and am not one of those who worship and follow them so perhaps this is my dilemma
but
I KNOW WHAT I HAVE SEEN
and what ive done in the past so i guess it doesnt need any convincing
i too have delt with odd langauges and many many weird things but again no one will understand and they try to use science to explain why it doesnt exist
but science doesnt disprove religion or creationism it is merely a process of explaing the creationisnism
perhaps the concepts of the vaccuum can be used to explain the process of the recording deeds thoughts but doesnt negate the words of Allah he created seperate beings
the other post the guy even translated the arabic word jinn as unseen or blackness i didnt even know arabic how the heck would i know the black smoke being
i can agree on some aspects of the quatum physics theory to explain about Gods process perhaps in making those things that seem impossible recording of thoughts etc but to use the process of recording thoughts and feelings etc doesnt seem to me to disprove GODS words about his creating another being called jinn
just like evolution doesnt disprove Gods words when he says he created beings just proves his words by exposing the process in which he used to do so
my opinion based on what i seen and know
