Hi all,
Instead of promoting dissucsion about the nature of what the jinn really is, this thread has become a place for people exchange stories of their encoutners.
I would like to point out in all the stories no one actually SAW a jinn. Only these effects like visions in the night etc which can be explained by 'paralysis attacks' please search on google for this.

I am sick to death of Muslims I know one in particular telling me that I am possessed by Jinn or the Devil. Today I was asked if I gave some of my hair to one of the sisters I knew. The reason for asking me this was because of the way I am thinking and practising is giving cause to suggest that I might be possessed or someone is putting a evil spell on me via a piece of DNA, lol. I really find this so insulting to my intelligence not to mention quite frightening that I associate with such individuals. I cannot find any Quranic reference to possession or spells of any kind. Could someone please enlighten me. Or at least make me feel better, as I am now feeling not only pissed off, but sad.

My understanding is that "shaytan" is a figurehead for any 'opposing force' (be it from oneself or elsewhere).
An interesting example is how "shaytan" whispers to us, and whispers to us is also used for our nafs/soul/self , implying, at least in this case, "shaytan" uses the same method as our nafs. Use of "whisper" is not used for anything else other than shaytan and nafs.

hey i will tell you jinns are real. if you guys want to hear about my story let me know. jin hunter i will tell you that jinns are real beings made of smokeless fire. your theory of it being virus and bacteria are bogus. i am only 17 years old and i was not a real believer in any religion before but that has changed and i will tell you jins are real from my experience if you guys want me to share let me know.
