    Peace,

Noble, because you cannot discuss in a normal manner and cannot really discuss Quran, you always will get personal. So this post shows your inability of discussing in a proper manner and your lack of Quranic knowledge to discuss the topics. That my view is 'dangerous' is ridiculous and shows your inability of grasping it, how can you judge something when you don't understand it? I hope in time you will learn to discuss properly and stay professional, as till now you have professed your opinion in an immature way. Your personal grudge blocks professional discussions we could have on these subjects.

        Peace,

Again you show you cannot discuss things in a proper manner. Taking the easy way out. Inability to grasp it and so scream blasphemy. I will always defend the Quran and the Truth against immature minds.

          Peace Arnold,
Ahmed proved to you without the shadow of a doubt and black on white how silly your interpretations were using the Al Quran... You still are following your misled ways.
At least I do accept when I am mistaken like in the subject of fear when Ahmed engaged me with it.
Do you want your ego to prevail or do you want salvation?
Desist it will be better for your soul...

            Peace,

Show me the link where AB proved anything? In my discussion with him he didn't grasp a thing, and there was no verse i couldn't explain. His only comment was 'i don't understand a thing you're saying but i hope the public is. Whatever it is, it are not my ideas'. That is called proving anyhting? You act like AB won something, but he failed that discussion miserabely. Show me the discussion where he 'won'. You can't. Also this isn't about winning, but about approach. It is easy to call something silly when you don't understand it. Your inability to grasp it is misleading you and is making you act like you are now. I fear God too, but from a different position. As you're unable to understand it, i recommend you not to give advice as you don't even know what you're defending and rejecting, because that is really silly and immature. But this push and tug game is waisting space and time so let's cut it. We disagree on this, but let's keep it civil.

Neither me nor Ahmed nor any sane muslim can stand by while such poisonous interpretations are put forward.
You are a bad example for others.
Ahmed's arguments against you convinced me.
You are clearly not open for Allah's guidance, and just want to follow your bubble gum philosophy, and in the process are misleading other muslims who are foolish enough to listen to your foolishness...
I give you my own input, if I accept your interpretation that there is no physical hell or heaven, I will do anything I want, including fornicating, stealing and killing (if I can get away with them), drinking intoxicants and taking drugs to my heart's content, not praying, not fasting and any other evil under the sun... After all, these are physical actions that can be pleasurable to many (such as the psychopaths and disordered personalities)... With the result that there is no physical punishment (because I only believe into physical things, I am not mature enough to grasp spiritual Arnold like consequences), I will have no issue with doing any crime even shirk...
You got my drift, pal? ...

You got my drift, pal? ...

This is exactly the thing you are completly wrong on. I told you earlier that the punishment is in a different form. You think immediatly that it is not something to be scared off, and you're totaly mistaking in this. I have explained this alread to you and you keep blabbering. Pain doesn't need molecules and real flames, it can have different places of origin.

I don't do those evil things as it will create stagnation of my Nafs and i will not attain Djenna in this life or the next, and to hurt my Nafs is not what God create me for. Pain can be approached from different angles and sources. You only accept one source of pain as punishment, i don't. You think my concept of Jahannam is Disneyland, that is the pathetic thing. Doesn't matter what i say, you'll blindly go against. You need a physical Hell, don't worry Noble, i will not take it away, as Jahannam as i see it is worse then your version. It doesn't need physical flames to be terrifying, it just needs soul that hasn't progressed and a confrontation with the Truth and the Fire will engulf the heart.

The sad thing of this all, is that you admit you will not listen to God just when He says something. You don't want to do good because of the truth, but because to avoid the consequenses. This is not real faith.

                Peace

                    Salam noble

Yes, brother Layth?s arguments are outstanding, and so are the findings of Brother Ayman in regard to what he exposes as the true significance behind how the traditional Moslems behave and perform the Hajj. But I have just about caught up with Brother Progod?s analysis, and there is no doubt in my mind that he has superceded the previous two perspectives. I have just witnessed a major stroke of genius, I feel. The simplicity of the explanation he provides is commensurate with the enormity of its import. In case you haven?t come across it, I will encapsulate, to the best of my means.

Pilgrimage is to the sacred houses of God, and the emphasis is put on plurality. The Deen is established by Abraham, and this is the first house of God, the foundation, the Kaaba. Salaat is directed towards the Qibla, which is the focal centre of Deen, and is where Maqaam-e-Ibrahim is situated, and this is the stance of Abraham.

It is all speaking of the inner lattice works of our faith. Wrong interpretation and mistranslation over the centuries has given us meaningless rituals and the corruption of faith. What we have confirmed here is the simplicity and the universality of Islam. Notwithstanding, the other details stand, and both Layth?s and Ayman?s findings are not invalidated thereby. The hometown of the Prophet Mohammed may not be relevant to the Deen, but for a historical perspective Layth?s findings are valid and convincing. It is only the part where he proposes Jerusalem as the Qibla that is undone. On the other hand, Ayman?s findings are exposing to us the machinery of evil, which may even be described as anti-Deen. This too is not irrelevant.

Due to this discovery I now find it far easier to explain how the Kaaba in Mecca evolved into the focus of the traditional Moslems. No conspiracy is required at all, not even in the immediate aftermath of the slaughter at Karbala in 684. In the first days of Islam there was no universal focus at a physical location, and this is in keeping with archaeology, which shows that the very first mosques were haphazardly directed. But the Kaaba was undoubtedly the central focus for the pre-Islamic pagans, and we know that, in the aftermath of the conquest of Mecca in 630, the prophet Mohammed stormed this den if iniquity and rid it of all its 360 idols. Whether it was turned into a house of God after in uncertain, and I think improbable. But who can doubt that such a location is as the Devil sitting there tempting the Moslems to revert to their former ways. The prophet lived only two years after the conquest. We can easily imagine devotees coming back to that place during the Rasheedin Caliphate, yes, very much as Moslems, and not pagans. This is the beginning of corruption. And the floodgates only opened after the Ummayyad takeover. Corrupt Judaism, corrupt Christianity, corrupt barbarians at the helm of a world empire. Does it take even a drop of imagination to work out what happened to Islam from this point onwards?

                      Peace Bro Fabian,
I am aware and accept most of Layth and many of Ayman's views. I have come to realise that the Qibla might be in fact in Jerusalem, and that Prophet Mohammed was born and lived in the vicinity of Jerusalem, which is logical due to all the Bani Israel Prophets mainly coming from there and the Al Qumran community for which Allah devotes a lot reference to in the second chapter of Al Quran.

                      Mr Anold,
Since your views are so miraculous (they go against all common sense and/or classical interpretations of Al Quran), why don't you proclaim yourself messenger of God, and preach your (evil) doctrine, to whoever bothers to listen to you or follow you.
At least you will come in the open, and not hide behind this decent Allah alone site to spread your poisonous falsehoods...
                      This is a serious crime...

                        Peace,

Look at you. So immature. I gave you a decent answer. Your way of talking to me is exactly what is posioning this forum. To hypocrite and childish to see it. Procliaming this a decent forum and at the same time talking the way you do? And still you don't care what i say, you don't understand an iota of my words because you block yourself. And it doesn't go against classic interpretations, there are who give the same conclusion, but since when does classic interpretation mean anything? Who's classic interpretation? Your version of common sense is the one not grasping it, don't think your common sense is the same as everybodies. It is really pathetic how you handle this and a shame for this forum. You never come with your own proof from the Quran, just throwing in personal comments. I try to formulate certain thoughts, if you don't agree with them, fine, the truth sustains on it's own, it doesn't need you or me. Just because i see fire symbolicaly i doesn't mean i don't see a punishment, i just approach it differently then you. And look at how you handle it, you say you were tolerant? You are a child handling the things you are doing now. Please condemn me more, as this has nothing to do with me. It has to do with you. I know you are a good guy, and i hope you will change your attitude over time. Till then..Peace

There is no need for proof, the Quran stands for itself, one has to be mad to think that when Allah says fire He means something else. Is He talking to humans or who else? If He wanted us to perceive it as allegorical He would have said "the like of fire"...
You are deluded Arnold, maybe you need to consult a psychiatrist...

Now now people calm down. Do you guys wanna know what I think's scary? I think it's scary that I cannot find a single reference to the Qur'an in this entire thread.

From the moment this thread started from that ridiculous first post it went downhill, in my opinion there is a hell of a loada BS spread around this forum, fantastically long philosophical posts with no references to any kind of fact.

I'm not saying everyone in Free Minds is like this, although I see a scary trend towards explaining the whole of the Qur'an away as being nothing but a huge metaphor.

The views on Alcohol expressed by a MINORITY here I find abhorrent, but they manage to forever open up a full debate about something quite obvious and get everyone angry. That poor guy who was about to go to university read the blooming thing and it completely messed him up!

And what the hell is with that article on Jinn? I don't know who wrote it, but for me, perhaps it is a scary example of how delusional people can be and how much they wish to explain the deen away to conform to the Western way of the Kuffar.

There is a disclaimer on many of the more controversial articles on the Free Minds website, but the very fact that they are the articles that are being put up for that specific subject confers that someone here seems to take them quite seriously.

I see a few people here who are very easily stirring things up and I see the disgusting behaviour when Muslims fraternise with the Kuffar against their brethren.

If things do not change and people don't start presenting their views intelligently, Free Minds will head down the road to Jahanem (however the forum itself is quite lucky in the fact that it does not have to avoid the reality of hell like we do).

There is a lot of Sunni and Shia bashing going on here, but I'll tell you all how they have one-up against the people here, they have a harmonious community, they stand together better than the people here do, and it takes a lot more than some simple-minded trouble-maker to come in and stir them up and get some of the more weak minded here to side with them.

Can people please have a second-read at the original post that started this thread and see how blatantly retarded it is? I really don't want to have a go at the writer and I do not wish to have a debate on the Kaba in these circumstances but that first post was really really stupid.

People say they have been Qur'an aloners for so and so years, but it seems they still know very little about the Qur'an when they put forth their arguments, so they're either quite ignorant or missing the other stuff out intentionally to get their own personal point across.

                              So what'll it be?

Will Free Minds be the place where an intelligent debate can take place and the truth can rooted out from the falsehood?

Or will it continue to be the forum-of-a-thousand-mullahs where fatwa upon fatwa will be thrown between members with little or absolutely no grounds in the truth?

                                Peace Bro Al-Quraishi,
Sorry that you had to endure this unfortunate exchange of words between me and Arnold, it is not the first time as I absolutely disagree with his interpretations, and we clashed on several occasions.
As far as Jinns being fantasies or leaders of humans, also this does not make sense to me at all.
However about Qiblah, Bro Layth put together enough evidence in my opinion to convince me that the Qiblah is in Jerusalem, and that Prophet Muhammed was in fact born and lived in the vicinity of Jerusalem. Please read his article carefully. He uses archeolgical proofs together with Quranic proofs to defend his case.
Of course I am open to change my view if his evidence can be proven incorrect.
Please also understand that this web-site is free-minds.org, so free minds are free to express themselves.
Regarding building up a community, it is as yet very unrealistic...
Also about the harmony of the sunnis and the shiites, they are all living under the tyranny of corrupt regimes, if you call that harmony, then I beg to differ...
I would prefer the example of the zionists who in Israel live in harmony despite different opinions between themselves, not that I advocate their way of life.
As for the debate about Alcohol, that dude clearly was only willing to listen to someone telling him that it was OK to drink it in moderation, and he would have gotten drunk anyways... I have plenty of students like that who like to exonerate themselves by having other people tell them that it is OK to sin a little...
In my opinion the purpose of this forum is to allow different views to be bounced, as when we are in the real world and exchange views with people from different backgrounds...

                                      Salam Bro Noble

The way that this thread has gone highlights that we have a serious problem here. Islam is the way of universal brotherhood. But there are two other sorts of universalists that come under the guise of Moslems, and these are the worse fanatics that ever walk the earth. The first sort is the one who takes refuge in the mind. And the second sort takes refuge in Shariah, a legalistic formula to replace the true Deen, and which is to be imposed by force on the world. Both are equally fanatic, and the root of their fanaticism is not hard to discover. It is insecurity. Retreat into the mind is dangerous. So much logic here, flowing like crystal-clear streams, so many beautiful ideals littering this heavenly landscape, that anyone entering this place (with utter detachment from the real world) is likely never want to leave this Djenna. From this perch it seems like all the rest, struggling in the real world, are in Gehenna, or close to it. And such a perspective from on high gives the mind-dweller a peculiar cosmology of Djenna and Gehenna, and he mistakes it for true faith. It also imparts to him a moral superiority of untold magnitude, because he so clearly sees the difference between grubby earth and paradise in the mind. The trait by which you discover such a believer is annoyance and anger. Because whenever you try to drag him back to the real world he is annoyed to the extreme, because as a real person he is thoroughly insecure. Such like appeared in the Christian world 500 years ago, and they called such-like behaviour Puritanism. The fanaticism of the Puritan is legend to this day. The rape of the world was instigated by the Puritan, and it continues to this day. We don?t usually see a Puritan under a Moslem hat, but we are beginning to see a novelty, no doubt due to much mixing with the Westerner.

Plato was honest in this regard, he who stands at the base of all Western thought, and he who roamed the mind to create the greatest philosophy that still stands. In his later days he accepted the invitation of the king of Syracuse to assume the post of royal advisor. Both parties cherished in their minds the possibility of an ideal state if the sublime precepts of the ?Republic? were followed. But the experience taught Plato that pure ideals have no place in the real world, and he was magnanimous enough to admit so in his later writings.

The other sort of universalist is of the traditional Moslem world, and the fanaticism here doesn?t need much explanation. Only needs to mention that it is borne of insecurity again. When the Shariah rules by the sword it is okay. But the slightest questioning of the Shariah exposes a seething insecurity inside and the tradionalist lashes back with a fury that the whole world recognises by now.

Now please tell me how we are supposed to carry out a discussion with such like individuals around? I am not saying that they are necessarily here, but if we recognise such then we should not engage with them in discussion. Because then you will not get discussion but only a vent for fanaticism. The Quran too tells us to desist from such engagements.

?Why should you divide yourselves into two groups regarding hypocrites (among you)? GOD is the one who condemned them because of their own behavior. Do you want to guide those who are sent astray by GOD? Whomever GOD sends astray, you can never find a way to guide them.? (48

This is a very good contribution to the discussion. I heartily endorse it. A breath of fresh air for a change from many other posts read recently. Allah urged the beleivers that they were raised as a midle community, so that the Prophet will be a witness over them, and they will be witnesses over mankind. How can we be witnesses when we are so entrenched in our views, and oblivious and blind to what surrounds us.
On another note, I usually attend Friday Prayer, and I noticed as a traditional part of the preach, the imam saying (as if he were Muhammed) "The best of my community are my century, then the ones after that, then the ones after that". "Khairu Ummati Qarni thumma alathina yalunahum thumma alathina yalunahum"...
Now I do not know of the legitimacy of such words (ie did the Prophet really say them ever).
But if we look at history, it is in the third century of the Islamic Calendar that the Muslims started to collect and adopt Hadith.
Isn't it ironic that in the Khutba itself there is an acknowledgement to the demise of the muslims from the third century onwards. Maybe this is Allah's subtle way to imprint a warning sign, which of course they do not seem to heed, as always... But it makes sense to me now in a very eery way...

                                          Peace bro

Hope you are doing great mate, as you know there is only a few that I will be happy to discuss Quran matters with in public, and you are one of those mates whom I will be happy to do it with, I actually respect your stand however after a bit of time, profiling you, ?just to know you better? and also to see how quickly your belief will change by reading many of the articles posted on this web site, I came to realize that you rush into conclusions when you read new concepts, I?m not saying that you should not look at and investigate new concepts but what I discovered that you really do rush to conclusion about things that to the contrary need care and patience.

For you to accept the author view regarding the Kabba is a clear example of this sort of conclusion you you rush into, I will explain to you why soon, but as an advice from a Muslim to his brother, I really hope that you take your time before rushing into any conclusion, I guess you stated clearly that you are still happy to change your view again regarding the Kabba, which is great, however it sounds to me that you are leaving it to the others to do it for you, then you just follow them, which is not that bad of course but sure it will make you look confused and I don?t want this to apply to you dear brother.

This Kabba thingy is going here for ages and I decided months ago to avoid this subject due to many of the silly arguments presented, I actually told all the members of my intention to avoid the subject but I promised them that they will see me one day jumping back into it and I will take the chance seeing you dragged to this confusion to explain a major flaw in the author article

Firstly the article stresses the importance of Jerusalem to all descendants of Abraham

? Jerusalem ? City of God?
In looking to the area surrounding the location where the town of Lot may have once stood, we find ourselves near the historic city of Jerusalem which is claimed by all descendants of the Abrahamic faith to be a site of importance for monotheism.

I tend to agree regarding the importance of Jerusalem, but to use its importance and call it the city of God, is not warranted indeed because Jerusalem was never mentioned in the Quran to start with as well even if it is an important place, it does not have to be the focal point for all Abraham descendants because again this was never mentioned in the Quran in fact the contrary was mentioned as we will see soon.

The article then talked about Mohammad migration to Yatherib, and it stated that Mohammad after migrating kept pointing to Jerusalem as the Qiblah

                                          ? Beca/Jerusalem is still Mohammed's Focal Point.
?The first sanctuary established for the people is the one in Bakk?a, blessed, and a guidance for the worlds.? (The Message 396)

Although Mohammed has been evicted, he is still upholding the focal point of the Temple in Jerusalem? This would explain why the Sunnis and Shia record until today that the prophet did indeed face Jerusalem for the first part of his stay in Medina (as evidenced by the mosque with two qiblas) and why they still call Jerusalem the ?1st qibla?.

Here is the sequence according to the author so far

                                          1. Mohammad was living in Jerusalem and was taking Jerusalem as the Qiblah
                                          2. Mohammad was forced to migrate from Jerusalem to Yathrib but he kept taking Jerusalem as the Qiblah for some time

The article then talked about Mohammad changing the Qiblah to another location away from Jerusalem and the article suggested that it was sort of a test to the believers, the article used 2142 as an evidence that the Qiblah change from Jerusalem to something else has already happened due to the past tense used by those who wondered about the Qiblah change

? God Establishes a new Focal Point (Qibla)
?The foolish from amongst the people will Say ?What has turned them away from the focal point that they were on?? Say ?To God is the east and the west, He guides whomsoever He wishes to a straight path.? (The Message 2142)

Here is a clear 'turning' away from the existing focal point to newer one.

In-fact, this is where traditions and archeology meet with the Scripture as they relate that when the prophet came to Medina, he set the focal point towards the North East (in this case they claim Jerusalem), and that after a period of time he set it in the opposite direction.

One comment regarding the above quote, the Quran never suggested that the Qiblah was changed 180 degrees from what it was, this is really silly to suggest, the point is, the author suppose to only use the Quran to prove his allegations, traditions and archaeology evidences CAN?T BE ACCEPTED because the doubt will always remain that they have been tampered with.

What is an interesting point to note is that if we drew a straight line from Medina to Jerusalem (in-line with the original qibla as per the Scripture), and then we extend the same line completely in the opposite direction (in-line with the turning away from the qibla as per the Scripture), we see that the alleged temple of Mecca, contrary to what the Sunnis and Shia claimed, does not come onto this path.

Yeh instead of 180 degrees it is about 160 degrees, big deal

As for Mohammed's people...it was a 'test' of sorts
?And as such, We have made you a balanced nation so that you may be witness over the people, and that the messenger may be witness over you. And We did not make the focal point that you became on except to distinguish who follows the messenger from those who will turn on their heels. It was a great thing indeed except for those whom God had guided; God was not to waste your belief. God is Merciful and Compassionate over the people.? (The Message 2143)

According to the author, the first Qiblah change ?from Jerusalem to another place ? was mentioned in 2142, then 2143 is telling us why it was changed, then the author concluded that it was a test of some sort which according to 2143 I totally agree with the author.

The author then talked about the liberation of Jerusalem

? The Restricted Temple is finally liberated
After what seems like an impossibility...Mohammed is finally home...The Temple at Baca/Jerusalem is liberated
?God has fulfilled with truth His messenger's vision ?You will enter the Restricted Temple, God willing, secure*, with your heads shaven and shortened, having no fear.? Thus, He knew what you did not know, and He has coupled with this a near victory.? (The Message 4827)

Then the author suggested that there was another Qiblah change back to Jerusalem

? The Focal Point (Qibla) is Shifted Back to Baca/Jerusalem.
It can be hypothesized that the change in qibla away from Jerusalem was one of the largest single contributors to the situation we see today where Muslims do not follow God?s system. This hypothesis would make the most sense especially of the re-shifting of the qibla back to Jerusalem did not take place until close to the end of the prophet?s life, soon after or during his liberation of Baca/Jerusalem

?The foolish from amongst the people will Say ?What has turned them away from the focal point that they were on?? Say ?To God is the east and the west, He guides whomsoever He wishes to a straight path.? (The Message 2142)

Here the author got me confused, he used 2142 before as an evidence to indicate the first Qiblah change from Jerusalem to another Qiblah, then he is using 2142 to describe current Muslims who absolutely not aware of re-shifting the Qiblah back to Jerusalem????? Possibly I don?t get what the author means but regardless of his understanding we will see later that it will make no difference.

Then he posted 2143-144 to complete the story he is suggesting

?And as such, We have made you a balanced nation so that you may be witness over the people, and that the messenger may be witness over you. And We did not make the focal point that you became on except to distinguish who follows the messenger from those who will turn on their heels. It was a great thing indeed except for those whom God had guided; God was not to waste your belief. God is Merciful and Compassionate over the people.? (The Message 2143)

?We see the shifting of thy face towards the sky; We will thus set for you a focal point that will be pleasing to you ?You shall set yourself towards the Restricted Temple; and wherever you may be, you shall all set yourselves towards it.? Those who have been given the Scripture know it is the truth from their Lord. And God is not unaware of what you do.? (The Message 2144)

Then the author skipped 2145 and jumped to 2150

?And wherever you go out, you shall set yourself towards the Restricted Temple. And wherever you may be you shall set yourselves towards it; that the people will have no room for debate with you, except those of them who are wicked. You shall not fear them, but fear Me; so that I may complete My blessings upon you and that you may be guided.? (The Message 2150)

                                          Then the author explains

The Muslims today are confused to the above verses in thinking that the shift towards the ?Restricted Temple? was God?s command for Mohammed when he shifted away from Jerusalem (and they assume towards the shrine of Mecca). The problem with this understanding is that in 2142 the ?change? had already taken place and the people were commenting about it (i.e. 'what made them change from their Qibla?&#039.

See, the author is using the past tense in 2142 to prove that it was about the first Qiblah change from Jerusalem to another Qiblah as a test to the believers.

Then the author tells us that in 2144 the new order of the second Qiblah change was given which is back to Jerusalem from wherever it was

While in 2144 the Prophet is given ?new? instructions to use the focal point of the ?Restricted Temple? (which cannot be Mecca because the first change of Qibla that was meant to be a ?test? has already happened and thus the people were all facing the focal point opposite Jerusalem).

See above, the author confirms that 2144 is about re-shifting the Qiblah back to where it suppose to be, ?The City of God?, the very important city to all descendants of Abraham, this is confirmed again by the author below

                                          ? Previous Structures Preceding the Dome of the Rock;
Since the location of God?s Temple is deemed to be that where the current Dome of the Rock stands (constructed in 687 A.D.), then it should stand that previous structures have existed on this site since the time of Abraham?
Research shows that indeed this site was the location where the Temple of Solomon stood, and, more recently, the Temple of Herod that was standing during the time of Jesus? journey to Jerusalem.

                                          To be continued...
