    Salaams Samia,

At least we know your story now and why you react with reckless illogical conclusions by stretching meanings and ignoring others. May Allah give you peace for the heartache you have endured in your married/unmarried life.

    Salaams

    Salaam IMQ

How rude. I thought you believed in respecting and being respected. If you follow the Quran you need, also to abide by those commandments, which warn us not to say that of which we have no knowledge i.e. do not speculate.

Like me Samia gave a real life example, and making it personal will only deter us from learning from real life issues.
Remember Those are worthy of respect who, when they realise that they have harmed others, apologise and refrain from such conjecture in the future.

      Salaam farida,

Sorry, I don't find it rude at all. Maybe you should read it again. If you think assuming something is regarding a person is rude, then I don't know what to tell you. She gave ample clues to someone like me that knows a little bit about her that it could very well be her own personal situation. She commented and said it wasn't. Those who know her personally, her and Allah all know whether or not that comment was true or not. So I have no intention to apologize. I have said many times before that people should leave their personal situations off of this forum when trying to understand Al Quran. But if you put it out there, then it's up to be commented on. Personal situations never prove or disprove anything from Al Quran.

      As Salaamu Alaikum, peace

It is entirely up to you if you wish to apologise or not, as I am not answerable for you. But reading Samia story I did not see anything personal in it except that she advices C. I myself have some real life example to share just because I dealt with some matrimonial issues, does that make them my story?

          Salaams farida,

I don't know anything about you, so did I mention to you that your story sounded about you or true? What I said to Samia was to her for reasons that I know of. Didn't you read her comments to huruf? Maybe you should just take her advice since it doesn't bother her.

              Salaams farida,

By the way, Im not a "free minder". I am a muslim that follows Al Quran alone as a divine scripture of guidance, sent and protected by Allah.

Seems like something is really wrong with you if you figure what I said is in any way negative. Maybe you, and some like you, have taken this forum as your divine guidance and only use Al Quran as a back drop. Seems like these are your "hadith" that you worship.

You actually seem to suggest that you are proud to be a "FREE MINDER" instead of a follower of Al Quran alone as divine scripture sent for guidance by Allah! o Go figure. confused So we definitely know who you are and what you stand for now Mr. Free Minder! whatever

The rule of the arabic sentence construction (whether classical or colloquial) is that the adjective should conform to the gender of the noun it describes. Yataama is a masculine plural, therefore the construction cannot be that of noun-adjective. We are left with the only other relation between the two nouns possessiveness (X of Y) orphans of women.

                      Dear Samia
Quran came first then grammar was invented as per your opinion. But now you are taking the support of that grammar.

'I read other explanations which emanate from Zamakhshari. It says that it's "laakin" not "laakinna", and hence its function stops. Just like "inn haathaani lasaahiraani", which is not "inna".

As for the former verse, we are still left with "muqimiina" being the "odd" one, as in your post.
This "justification" creates yet another problem according to grammarians "laakin" and "inn" should not be followed by a nominal sentence!!

The problem with grammarians is that they invented rules and then tried to fit the quraan into them.

What is the standard of grammar being correct or wrong?

And you seem to love "free minders" more than Al Quran...I wonder if God considers that arrogant? hmm

It would seem that thru our experiences we all have felt the reasons that God tells
us that no matter how hard we try we can only please one wife..

The good news is that I don't think it is ever too late to start FRESH, and NEW,
                              like the New Year...

I hope that your friend C will find someone that will bring happiness, and a future...

Seems like we have proven here that God does really NOT want Poligamy, and
has created a path to teach those who still believe in it the way back
                              to the happy path...

This must be one of your "freeminders' hadeeth", because this is not said in Al Quran, nor have you contributed anything to make such an absurd assumption.

The only thing that you have proven is that you haven't read the entire thread or studied the material presented. Your happy path lies only in your mind, not in following Al Quran. So enjoy your mental ride. It is a freemind that you have for sure. Too bad that you don't realize that there is a debt to pay back.

I am sorry I haven?t seen many successful, monogamous marriages. What the example above shows is that C should be careful before going after married man or she will be humiliated and that A should think carefully about the later effect of his actions before jumping into another marriage especially if he has no complaint regarding his existing wife.
Polygyny would work if A and B are unhappy together and stay together for the sake of the children (many couples stay together without any relationship for the sake of their business or properties) or B could not have children and so A wanted his children.
Allah swt allowed divorce even if you have children, so it?s not like for Catholics who have no option to divorce but with polygyny you have the option not to break up the family unnecessarily.
What Samia?s and my examples of A B and C showed was that taking another wife is no ball game; it is a tough decision with consequences and this should not be seen as a liberty but a liability.

                                    Best regards

I think the world is undergoing a complete crisis. And I mean crisis without any negative connotation. Everything must be brought in the open, everything must be considered anew, everything must be minutely and throughly examined to the bottom of it. Marriage, children, economy, everything. We should not react as it is was a bad thing. We should react with a sense of responsibility and privilege. We cannot uphold unquestionned assumptions forever. We cannot rely on the easy way out of looking at some step by step instructions. We must go to the bottom of everything that sustains life and society and not be afraid of finding anything. Truth can never hurt, but we can be hurt by our unwillingness to face and love truth. Nothing that is should be seen as necessarily negative. One thing I have learnt living is that no matter how owful an event may be, what is left after can always be turned into a basis for something good and positive, it depends on us turning it so. That is a gift that God has put into His creation, and therefore we must never be afraid of anything. Nothing is going to come that is cannot be made into a source of goodness.

Waht we may have to go through in this age is a complete overhaul of persons, family, social and economic relations. May God bless us and give us wisdon and understanding to be thankful for His gifts.

Sounds like you would like to be quite the philospher. But you would be better served to base ALL of your philosophy off of the principals contained in Al Quran and not your little life experiences. A hint to the wise is usually sufficient. hmm

                                          Dear IQO,

why should I not speak out of what I know by experience? We all do. Some of us try to make it pass as if it was from the qur'an others do not. But it is not forbidden as far as I know in the rules of the forum to speak from own knowledge or reasoning. What is not legitimate is to do so and say that you are quoting the qur'an. So I am not cheating anybody and it is up to each person to do whatever we want with whatever we read.

                                          Salaam,
