Why do women dress indecently?
-
bravo rotfl bravo rotfl SO TRUE! !
Some people really don't know what feminism is in the real world, not to mention WHO started it and for what purpose. Everyone that has an agenda or cause links it to civil rights. Women do and should have civil rights, but what feminism stands for is degredation, manipulation and role misrepresentation of the woman, using civil rights as its platform of disguise.
As Salaamu Alaikum peace
What feminism are you talking about? Of course you can pick any "feminism" you wnat and say that that is the "real" feminism. But then we are nowhere, because again we do not know what we are talking about. So again no need to bring feminism into the matter, since it will not have brought us any further clarification.
And other than what I said about feminism, the rest of the things were right. Why indeed

Why did women wear bustles, and have half or more of their bossom jumping out, or were made breathless their whole life within tight corsets in centuries past, or made to walk on stakelike heels damned their backs...Bause after all may be we are indeed in need of some kind of feminism, in the same way that we may be in need for it when by hook or crook others insist that women's heads, or hear or face or feet or whatever must be covered at all costs, and even better if they just do not go out to make sure... summing up, why underdressing or overdressing? I don't see it comes from a different source.

Hi,
Let me put my views here. What you call indecent is dependent on the society u r from.
In India, still people treat a girl wearing jeans as indecently dressed. But imagine, wearing a sari and running to catch a bus, or standing in a crowded bus managing ur dupatta or sari, its horrible guys. The comfort jeans gives, a sari can never give, but still its treated as indecent dressing.
Similarly there can be other reasons. But i am not saying its true in all cases.

VVA -
Peace, modesty remains the same whatever the location and we are living in a world where people travel. As i said, i am from a small island yet, you get the majority of girls who wear indecent style. As for wearing a saree to catch a bus, ok jeans are practical, but dont tell me that wearing low cut jeans that reveal hips and waist and underwear has got something to do with being practical!
-
Hi,
I am not saying low cut jeans are practical. I stay in Japan, and i literally dont get any decent dress in the market here in the place where I stay. So what should i be doing? I can afford to get clothes from other places, but that may not be the case with others.
I am just saying, dont generalise all the women who are indecently dressed as immoralRegards,
VVA -
Peace. I never fail to be astounded by the worsening indecency of women. Anyone can explain why women feel the need to expose consciously and unconsciously, deliberately or not their bodies, by wearing skin-tight clothes which when worn at night would give the silhouette of a nude woman, short skirts, chest and belly revealing outfits, waist exposing jeans that reveal underwear and part of the buttocks, etc? At the beach, the situation is even worse.
Where do you live!
Can I move there?
Seriously though, I think this is a very ignorant post. Tell me as a man, what do you wear? A shirt? Does that expose your body shape? Do you wear trousers? Does that not expose your legs and your butt?
What do you wear to the beach when you swim? Swimming trunks? So you are topless?
Shame on you!
Stop objectifying women!
-
You kafir, how dare you say personal things about my look whereas you never saw me. Listen you misguided idiot, i DO NOT go to the beach to swim or sunbathe, nor do i wear t shirts. If you think that men and women are physically similar then maybe you could give birth. I can't believe the kind of idiots passing off as free minds. Is there any way to quit out of this forum?

As Salaamu Alaikum all,
If men and women are equal in everything, including dress requirements of what is modest, why does Allah give special additional instructions to women in Al Quran? hmm (Of course if you don't believe in following guidance and commands of Allah from Al Quran, then this means nothing to you!)
As Salaamu Alaikum, peace
-
Are men equal in everything?
Exactly my point. Men are NOT equal to women, and women are NOT equal to men; in their ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES as assigned by Allah. The only equally really is in the NAFS that we are all created from. Roles and responsibilities in this life are different and are not the criteria of what gives one more taqwa or favor with Allah for the judgement to come. The problem with feminism is that OVERALL, it doesn't respect the roles and responsibilities as given by Allah as being DIFFERENT for men and woman and hide it under the cloak of civil/equal rights; which is a direct opposition to what Allah has commanded. Abuse is a problem that needs to be addressed on all levels, and is wrong across the board. It happens not only with men/women, but black/white(or any racism), rich/poor, fat/shinny, etc. etc. Inequallity doesn't give anyone the right to abuse another, yet it still doesn't make everyone equal, and there is no pretending that all are equal. Even Allah points this out in Al Quran. Civil/equal rights are about ABUSE, not about role and responsibility equality as given by Allah.

I don't know whether the purpose or fate of this kind of threads is to end up invariably in the same watering hole of men-women and rehash of commonplaces. If we are not going to come up with something useful, why go there. We all know, pretty soon, how each person feels or thinks about certain subjects, what is the use of proding and see if we get another men-women's dance?
So oh women dress indecently. Why? Go and ask them, each one. The topic has been dealt with several times. Or oh women dress indecently, they are bitches, let us kill them. I suppose that would be a solution, at least we wouldn't have to repeat again the tedious routine of men-women-equal... because obviously after a few thousands years of existence we all know how women and men are. But I suppose some people, do not find this tedious. Are they missing something (these people, I mean)? Where is this getting us?
So, as far as I am concerned, if this topic doesn't help us to be better persons, or more conscious persons or wiser persons, really, we would be better off talking about the weather?
So, once I have spoken my mind, it must be said in all fairness that some people have tried to reason in this thread, I congratulate them. It has taken me some time to write in it, because I have sort of given up hope that anything useful would come out of it and I saw it coming... May be years have made me more impatient of certain things. However, we either want to learn or teach something or it is just we want to vent some feelings. In this case no need to disguise them as intellectual exchange, just get it out, we understand. Mama internet is the best for that.

In their roles and responsibilities "as assigned by Allah". And "Allah" assigned him a greater role than you. So no.

Salaam huruf,
You continue to rant your personal observations about this forum and the people on it with their comments; while you say that you don't do that. If it is a waste of time, why are your posts also some of the longest? What have you offered from Al Quran to support your points of view? Do you have anything to offer except your opinions and how you see things?
Simply put, if you don't like a particular thread, stop posting in it. It's that simple. No one is enforcing you to endure the dialogue that others choose to engage in. Choose another thread that is more suitable to your desires and stop trying to tell others what they should or should not be doing. You don't know what helps another person or not.
With that said, I have no problem for you to continue posting your rants. It doesn't bother me to read them or respond to them. It is what I expect on this type of forum. You get all kinds, some good, some bad; just like human beings.
As Salaamu Alaikum, )

Is it greater role or role with greater responsibility?
My openin is that
Of course man and woman are not the same but they have equal rights suited to their different roles. For example the mother has more rights as she carries and gives birth. A woman is not obliged to contribute to the household from her earnings; she can keep all her income in her own account.
It is the responsibility of man to provide for the family based on his own standard of living believing woman has more rights than one non-believing. A woman is considered precious and beautiful that is why she is asked not to reveal her beauty to any Tom Dick or Harry. If any one slanders a believing woman four witnesses are required but the same does not apply for man?I can go on and on it?s the way you perceive your self that you expect to be treated.
However as s a muslim we are only humanist s4135
So stand for justice as witnesses .To Allah even as against yourselves?..No one is suprerior that the other.Best regards

Salaam,
As for feminism This was a revolutionary movement requirement of the time as women were oppressed but any movement when it turn to extremism becomes fanatical.
A feminist who goes around half naked saying it s my right is as crazy as the feminist exercising her right in Burkaha (Covered from head to toe)?both are abusing their rights to such an extent that it will only results in backlash.
Best regards

I am sorry but I do know of feminists who militate against the exposure of feminine bodies as flesh for consumtion, but I do not know of any that militates for stripping. If you know of any who is in favor of overexposing women's bodies, I congratulate you. There may be, I don't know, but really you must have looked under the stones to find one. In fact feminism is very much out of fashion except in the mentions of its abusers. Those feminsits that are left in fact are the ones who militate and protest against TV advertising using women's bodies and other abuses. I find totally lacking any basis this characterising of feminists as favouring stripping or indecency. In fact I have seen them accused of everything under the sun, but this is a new one. I mean are you talking about something you definitely know or are you just making assumptions on hearsay? Mind you not that that would surprise me, today we have fake ismalmists, fake terrorists, fake christians, fake filantropists, fake you name it. It would be surprising if they hadn't invented fake feminists also.

Peace People,
Being muslims who profess to follow the Quran we need to avoid this mudslinging and namecalling and start treating each other with respect at all times. Just imagine people, coming here to learn what Quran alone is all about, what will their impression be?! yuck

Thanks, G. Omar, for your kind words. In fact I think that what we all want is to get as much truth as possible, and sometimes the truth is hard to get, hard to see, hard to admit, hard to swallow. I do not have anything personal against anybody here, and I think nobody else does with respect to me or any other either. We are trying our best, which may be more than we can handle without getting a little out of balance.
Thanks for the balm, it is always welcome.
Salaam
