Lying in the cause of justice is justified. I'm pretty theres a verse in the Quran that actually says something on these lines. The challenge is in the concept of justice. If person x is about to lie, they should ask themselves if their doing it in the cause of justice. Which is pretty much the same as the weighing thing as mentioned by others in the thread. But keep in mind that whilst you may want to lie to someone to not see them get hurt they may want the truth and it is their right to be given it. Unless someone else is involved. So in the sister example given on the thread, someone the sister is involved thus perhaps one can lie to the mother. But is this in the cause of justice....

http//i138.photobucket.com/albums/q270/rickrivero305/poor-1.jpg I believe Poverty is a Highly Designed System created for several reasons. I believe Poverty will never cease (even though it can) because It is Essential in carrying out the Interests of the groups who will profit from it. Poverty can Ensure prisoners, which in turn ensures profits to corporations and banks. Poverty can Ensure Dependence and immorality. However, it doenst have to be. It can be changed... But that would mean that the Economy would have to change, Corporations would have to change, and the entire infrastructure would have to change. ...perhaps the system is not designed for such a change, and therefore it will never change. Terribly true. Giving control over every aspect of our lives to corporations that exist for the sole purpose of Profit is where the evil starts. Peace.

I will not argue further since it is not relevant to the discussion and neither do I know the technical features of Arabic. It is best to argue your point with those who do. Thankyou for your points, Peace to you.

EDIT (for 69) This is (partly) why the Messenger enjoins and forbids the war booty (579) (there would be much haram material in war booty). The other reason is that the Messenger must divide it as per the Qur'an.

Well multiple 'universes' is not an 'impossibility'.. The notion of "afterlife", "Heaven" and "Hell" is an example of 'different universe' than the one we lived right now. Where the governing 'rules' and 'law' are different than the one we lived today. Before this universe's 'big bang' He exist and after the 'big shrinking' He still exists. God maintains all of the universes and He sets different rules within each in accordance and manages all of it. Salam / Peace Perfectly explained

Well I am happy enough with that (I noticed I repeated a verse). I was doing a commentary (from Qur'an-alone perspective) so if anything confuses me then I have to pause. This should be a standard argument for any debating Qur'an-aloner plus a reference for any traditionalists interested in this viewpoint (ignore the actual website) Sura 1 & 2 http//allpoetry.com/column/show/2364504 Sura 3 http//allpoetry.com/column/show/2364515 Sura 4 http//allpoetry.com/column/show/2364524 Sura 5 http//allpoetry.com/column/show/2364530 Sura 6 http//allpoetry.com/column/show/2364611 I hope that Edip Yuksel does not mind if I borrowed 2 or so passages from his "19 Questions for Muslims Scholars" in Sura 3 and 5 although they are standard arguments used by all these days. If you do mind Edip then let me know and I will reword (it is about "Question 2 The Same Mistake" and "Obey Allah and his Messenger&quot. Khuda Hafiz

@ BornAgain Therefore it is not permitted in Islam for someone to eat what they are allergic to. In my understanding, it does not necessarily mean that we are forbidden to eat such food. It is just that we are encouraged to eat food that is pure and good for us since the verses say something along the line of "eat the pure and good things". It's our choices to eat and pure things, and we're free to food impure things (e.g junk food that has no nutritional values) or bad food for our body, then again it is discouraged (though not explicitly forbidden because only four things are forbidden). Anyway, we are given the wisdom by God to know what food is good and what is bad (deep fried potato chips topped with mayonnaise? No, thank you!), so I guess we should start being more careful with what we eat ).

girl Sorry, but I have to LOL that. Really? There is someone who is immune to MY sexiness? It's me! MEEEEEEEE!!!! No one is immune! Mwahahaha... boy You are a sick puppy, dear. Even your family? I think I should be the one wearing a hijab. The women are just so rude and come on to me all the time, flirting....beacuse they just can't stay away from my handsome rugginess. shame on both of you... smh nope where've all the tattoo talks gone? nice phrase btw, "bikini or hijab" (safe, it's only a Google inquiry --no images-- duh...) Sorry uncle....We will mend our ways. I don't know what's wrong with us. I totally understand that there should be some degree of modesty. But our vision or goal (eventhough perhaps never achievable) should be to make modesty a non-subject, it should not exist. If we do that by saying "everything is allowed!" then we are going about it the wrong way. That is not what Allah wants. It has to come from within. If you feel you cannot control YOURself, then walk away or cover up. That way we take away the power of the bikini or tattoo. They cannot be longer used as a tool to attract. That will naturally "force" people into what Allah intended, to see the eachother for who we really are. Many have in previous discussions said that the traditional muslim dress code for women is not entirely correct because Islam is for everybody, what use is there for an eskimo woman to be told to cover up, she is already covered from head to toe. But I have never heard the opposite. What use is it to tell a tribal woman from inner Africa to cover her chest? All we are doing by saying so is to create a modesty problem that never existed in the first place. Tattoos are a good example of a modesty problem that never really existed, but became one when man stamped it as a symbol of immodesty. I am the African tribal woman of tattoos. I come from a society (sailor) where tattoos have never been for the sake of beautification. Tell me the truth, if you see a guy with tattoos you think hmmm...that is a little inappropriate.....but then you found out he is a sailor. Doesn't that kind of rectify his reasons for having tattoos. Are the tattoos on him all that inappropriate still? I don't know where you guys come from, but in cultures where seafaring is a big deal, it has never been immodest for a sailor to have tattoos, just like it is not immodest for tribal women to walk around bare chested.

Peace and welcome! Thanks for this. In my opinion, rationalism and spirituality go hand in hand. One can be polytheist or worship nature or a statue and call it being spiritual, because they honestly believe that their god created all the blessings of this world. And then you have those who are rational but lack any spirituality, like you said. They see the signs, they know the science behind them but that is all. If we are both spiritual and rational then we understand that God is out there whilst using our brains to rationalise our faith and to make the right choices instead of following blindly. Sometimes, when I get so confused, I just think 'I wish I was brought up without a religion' so that I would have found God my own way instead of having my brain filled with preconceived notions that could affect my judgements. So even though it may be ideal if we could experience spirituality first, not everyone gets that chance. And those that are given that chance, not many make use of it. So I personally believe that there is more than just that one route to finding a balance between being spiritual and rational. Just my opinion peace

I don't know about the authenticity of the alleged confessions of other Imams, but I know specifically about that of Imam Razi, that this is quite a false accusation. When I first heard about "IMAM RAZI'S HORRIBLE CONFESSION", I was startled. However, I decided to check out by myself the speech mentioned in the name of Imam Razi . Dr. Shabbir Ahmed wrote /// After writing his 300 volumes, the great and authoritative Imam confesses "All my intellectual and supposedly logical statements in the explanation of the Quran turned out to be lame. All the explanations of the Quran done by the so-called Imams (Tabari, Zamakhshari, Ibne Kathir, Bukhari, Muslim etc) are misguided and misleading. All of us were the tools of Satan. Our souls were polluted by our physical desires. All our endeavors and works of this world promise to bring upon us nothing but eternal humiliation, torture and doom. ? (Hadith-Ul-Qur?an by Allama Inayatullah Khan Al-Mashriqi, 1954 edition p190) /// Look at the reference. Let us check the reference. You will get the original book, Hadith-Ul-Qur?an by Allama Inayatullah Khan Al-Mashriqi from this site http//www.aboutquran.com/ba/bio/InayatullahKhan/Inayatullah.Khan_HadisalQuran.pdf I have uploaded the page-190, here http//www.scribd.com/doc/45909041/Inayatullah-Hadithul-Quran-p190 You shall see Yes, there is a poem of Imam Razi mentioned by Allama Inayatullah Khan Al-Mashriqi in the mentioned page. Here is the poem ... ... ... ... ... This poem is very famous, and almost every write-up about Imam Razi contains the same. Even if you do some googling of any portion of the poem, you shall get many links containing articles or write-ups on the same. I have got two translations of the poem in the internet. I mention those below The first one The daring of minds ends in shackles, Most of mankind's undertakings are folly. Our souls are indifferent to what our bodies do, And the sum of our lives is affliction and harm. We did not benefit from our lifelong search Except in collecting what these said, and those. Atop many a mountain men have triumphed And gone, while the mountains remained. How many men and states have we seen Goaded to disappear one and all. I think that {{Atop many a mountain men have triumphed, And gone, while the mountains remained}} portion should be at the last. The second one Our souls fear our bodies as if they want to separate from them. The result of our life in this world has been nothing but pain to others and sin. For all the discussions and debates of our life We have derived no benefit but senseless noise. How often have we seen men and kingdoms All perish quickly and cease to exist! How was their glory once more exalted than a mountain, Yet, men perish and the mountain remains the same! Could you tell me how this piece of poem can be related to the speech alleged to be of Imam Razi's as mentioned in Dr. Shabbir's book? Or, how can the speech Dr. Shabbir derived can really logically be derived from the actual poem of Imam Razi? Or, how can the poem be treated as a confession?

Salaam harris, Salaam Khan, Tats an excellent point... the verse clearly shows that those exact same barbaric practices were prelevant much before the time of the Prophet. The only thing Bukhari and co. did was to moralize it in the minds of later generations. Peace. True! Only Allah can guide us all to get on the correct path. May Allah guide us all towards the correct path pr Mohammed M. Khan

Shalom JewishDude, You are right that according to many Quran only Muslims the Salat is not the 5 time daily ritual that Sunnism and Shi'ism demonstrate, and I don't believe that the Salat is the five daily ritual either - BUT that doesn't mean I haven't learned the Sunni and Shi'a Salat and don't occasionally practice it. If you want to know why I still practice it sometimes I can explain, just ask ... in any event, when I do go to Sunni or Shi'a Mosques, most of them do not even know that I am Qur'an only, unless we've gotten into theological debates/conversations before, which I only have with people who I personally feel might benefit from the conversation versus just arguing for the sake of arguing. So for the most part because there are so many Muslims in the masjid to begin with, usually I just go in listen to the Khutba, observe the traditional rituals and leave just like everyone else does.

@Mahzar...sorry, your explanation does not clarify anything for me. @SarahY...I am not sure what you mean by "...it can mean both.." Is there anyone that can point me to ayats that make this issue clear. We can refer to an outside source for arabic grammar but the danger in relying on that source alone without ayats to make the issue clear I understand would be speculation...would you agree or disagree?

I'm in agreement with brother Prince here. As a legal document the Quran is unparalleled in lucidity and brevity. We gotta obey God's law, and be very careful not to add things to it because tradition and culture declare certain things bad, when God does not.

Please put a brief description of what the lecture is about in either the thread title or body of the post. Just posting links without any information is pointless.
