We can't have peace till we ALL get a piece!! peace

Does Allah say life is a game in the Koran? Peace be upon you, with all due Respect. Let me know, if you see the difference between this "life" and the hereafter 286 These are the ones who have purchased this worldly life instead of the Hereafter. The retribution will not be reduced for them, nor will they be supported. 2212 This worldly life has been made pleasing to the disbelievers, and they mock those who believe. And those who are righteous will be above them on the Day of Resurrection; God provides for whoever He wishes without a price. 670 Leave alone those who have taken their system for play and distraction, and this worldly life has tempted them. And remind with it that a soul will suffer for what it has earned, it will not have besides God any supporter nor intercessor; and even if it brings all justice, none will be accepted from it. These are the ones who have suffered with what they have earned; for them will be a boiling drink, and a painful retribution for what they had rejected. 751 The ones who took their system for distraction and play, and were preoccupied with this worldly life. Today We forget them as they forgot their meeting on this Day, and they did not heed Our revelations. 1828 And have patience upon yourself regarding those who call on their Lord at dawn and dusk seeking His face, and let not your eyes overlook them that you seek the beauty of this worldly life. And do not obey he whom We have made his heart heedless of Our remembrance and he followed his desire, and his fate was lost. 1845 And give them the example of this worldly life is like a water which We have sent down from the sky, so that the plants of the earth mix with it and it becomes murky being moved by the wind. And God is capable of all things. 1846 Wealth and sons are a beauty of this worldly life. But the good deeds that remain behind are better with your Lord for a reward, and better for hope. 2072 They said We will not prefer you over the proofs that have come to us, and over the One who initiated us. So issue whatever judgment you have, for you only issue judgment in this worldly life. 2333 And the leaders from among his people who rejected and denied the meeting of the Hereafter; and We indulged them in this worldly life; said What is this but a human being like you? He eats from what you eat and he drinks from what you drink. 2861 Is one whom We promised a good promise, and it will come to pass, equal to one whom We provided with the goods of this life, then on the Day of Resurrection he is of those who will be summoned? 2879 Then he came out among his people draped in his ornaments. Those who preferred this worldly life said Oh, if only we were given similar to what Qaroon has been given. Indeed, he is very fortunate. 2964 And this worldly life is no more than distraction and play, while the abode of the Hereafter is the reality, if only they knew. 3133 O people, you shall reverence your Lord, and be concerned of a Day when a father cannot help his child, nor can a child help his father. Certainly, the promise of God is truth. Therefore, do not be deceived by this worldly life; and do not be deceived from God by arrogance. 3328 O prophet, say to your wives If you are seeking this worldly life and its vanities, then come, I will make a provision for you and release you in an amicable manner. 355 O people, the promise of God is the truth; therefore, do not be overwhelmed by this worldly life, and do not let arrogance overwhelm you from God. 4039 O my people, this worldly life is but an enjoyment, while the Hereafter is the permanent abode. 4335 And many ornaments. All these are the pleasures of this worldly life. And the Hereafter with your Lord is for the righteous. 4535 This is because you took the revelations of God in mockery, and you were deceived by the worldly life. So from this Day, they will never exit therefrom, nor will they be excused. 5034 Enter it in peace. This is the Day of eternal life. 5329 So disregard he who turns away from Our reminder, and only desires this worldly life. 5720 Know that the worldly life is no more than play and distraction and adornments, and boasting among you, and to increase in wealth and children. It is like plants that are supplied by an abundant rain, which appear pleasing to the rejecters. But then they dry-up and turn yellow, and become useless hay. And in the Hereafter there is severe retribution, and forgiveness from God and acceptance. This worldly life is no more than a deceiving enjoyment. I've noticed that in 573 and 5116 the subject of the trinity is discussed and the people who believe in this are never mentioned (in regards to a title) however I've noticed that the word nasara is employed in 930 when discussing them to believe the Masih is God's son commentary/thoughts?

so what is belief? is it just believing an entity called God is existing, whats the use of it? Believing is seeking God for knowledge and guidance to lead good life with good deeds, so to do good actions you need guidance/knowledge about what is good and bad. That verse tells the signs how people will go away from God's guidance so that we understand and correct our wrong ways. I consider this.. first we are doing something bad (out of ignorance), then God guides you(increases your knowledge) and you stop doing those, Again if you do the same bad deeds with the knowledge that its bad, then its natural you are going away from Guidance.

Peace, respect. You can always pray and you can pray at any given location on the planet, since the whole planet is a praying place. Pray where ever you are, walking, sitting, glorify God and seek His guidance. I pray in my room, in the park, walking, on the bus, I tlak to God regardless of the place. I don't go to churches nor the mosques. Since there aren't any true, Islamic, Qur'anic mosques. Keep up the best balanced prayer and read The Qur'an. God bless you, Glory be to God. Peace.

Salaam, Pray any way you like, without any ego that, yours the only right way. Ritual prayer was there even before Mohammed, He didn't invent his prayer but perfected it. This is the reason theres no specific instructions in Quran on how to pray. I think, Prayer in the mosque is for giving charity to the needy and to unite for that cause, it should have started this way long before Mohammed. Thats why Salat and Zakat comes together in Quran. Muslims, Jews, Hindus and Christians too pray in a their Mosques, temple etc, whichever Hindu temple you go there will be a charity box in the front where people put their Sadaqah ), Jews also give tzedakah and they have this practice to give without knowing who is giving and the benefit goes to the needy.

Salaam Fauziyusof, Welcome to the forum! Surely Islam would never castigate a child or adult for the sins of his/her parents. The problems you mentioned are ingrained in society and people's minds and is not due to Islam. As adultery is a big sin, naturally people have a tendancy to look upon the child born out of it as a sinner too. But the Holy Quran is quite clear in the fact that noone shall bear the sins of another person. It is a basic principle in Islamic justice that no one bears the blame for another?s fault . The child born out of wedlock, like every other child, is born sinless. Thus the child may not be called a ?bastard" or even be referred to as ?illegitimate? with the intention to derogate him/her. But unfortunately in many countries like for example Malaysia, the Islamic religious authority have these procedure which seems penalizing to the innocent child (i) when the child grew up & when he/she is going to get married, he/she must reveal that he/she is an illegitimate child, as the 'akad nikah' procedures will be different than the normal person. If they are illegitimate children, wouldn't this be humiliation for the rest of their life? (ii) if one adopts a child, (most of the cases, illegitimate children) we can't put the surname as ours. The religious authority insisted that the person must bear the name of 'Abdullah' to show to the public & that they are adopted or an 'illegitimate one'. The adopting parents are trying to give a new life to the children, but if this system has to be followed, then it defeat the purpose to bring about new hope & life for the children. Regarding how the Prophet handled it during his time, I would have to quote from Hadiths which I wouldn't want to do. Hopefully someone else can help you out there. Thus in conclusion, while we can argue that Islam does not pass the sin of one person onto another, the truth in many societies is far from it. I see your point, although I personally suspect that the real motivations of those in power are two-fold to obtain and keep wealth and power. Same old story. Saying that, there seem to be a lot of people who actually want to be spoon-fed and told what to think, too. I suppose a sense of security and belonging is achieved in that sense. A relationship of convenience, as it were.

Interesting post. Personally, I'd say idol worship has gone much further than this in modern society. Now we are encouraged to worship other people as idols sports stars, actors, musicians, successful businessmen (however unethical and corrupt they are), and general "celebrities". "Celebrity Culture" as it's called. We seem to be in the "McDonalds" era of interchangable and disposable idols to worship, too. A few years ago it was the "big" movie and pop stars people worshipped. Now programmes like "American Idol" raise and exhort a boy-or-girl-next door to worship today, only to be replaced and forgotten tomorrow. And so the cycle is repeated. Slightly tongue-in-cheek, but at least the people of old picked/invented gods to worship, and with the intention of doing so permanently. Since then it's all gone "downhill" to worshipping minor dieties, then mythical creatures, then popular leaders, and lately to popular celebrities, any celebrities, and now it seems even the person on the street. giveup Of course, the latter is all about the real "god" that those behind modern celebrities worship money.

Now, when it comes to subjects like dinosaurs or how to make pasta or should we have dogs, then one must first go through The Quran and then see how the muslims lived before. Funny thing is he responded to one of my statements from the Qu'ran supporting the Qu'ran as the only source for law with "well I can show you many verses which say to follow/obey the messenger." I thought to myself, what is he implying with this reply? Is he implying that he rejects the verse that says it is fully detailed/well distinguished? Anyways, I and I'm sure all if not most of the people on this forum don't have any problem or issue at all with verses which say to follow/obey the messenger, because the messenger would never teach anything that contradicts the Qu'ran...including adding extra laws...that is why the verse which says he is the best example or something along those lines does not bother me either, because he very well knows more than anyone else that his wateen will be severed if he teaches anything else, either by example or through words and whenever he did do something contrary (he is not perfect) he was immediately rebuked, and his rebuke was made to be included in the Qu'ran...such as the time when he ignored the blind man who sought his guidance (surah 80) and when he gave permission to sit out from a fight to some people who were able either physically and/or financially to support a fighting expedition but did not want to fight

I don't believe abortion is murder. But I am against universal health care. The question for you is, what do you do if abortion is included in the bill? And the more generalized question for all of us is, if we know our government is immoral, do we continue living here and paying taxes or would we rather move somewhere else or go to prison? I don't think there is a simple answer. Nice to know that you're still kicking Lobster. Why are you against universal health care? No simple answer, like you said...but could there ever be a place where the laws we are forced to abide by, are 100% morally appetizing? I do believe that we have to stand up for what we believe in, and not just with our mouths. I would think you'd choose the prison option, but I don't know what good that does, on a grand scale. It allows you to feel less guilty, but doesn't really accomplish much else.. Isn't the prison option also a selfish choice? If we break the law, are we being dishonest? ...Of course, everyone breaks the law one time or another, consciously or not.
