Peace, Respect. I'm definetely against icons because sooner then later they become an object of affection and worship, not by all people but I know people who see these statues as more then holy. I don't like them, it just doesn't sit well with me. Peace.

Aiysha, personally I wouldn't actively seek out a discussion, and I usually try to avoid conflicts. But if someone makes statements like "this IS so and so in Islam", I do feel I have to object if it's something I feel strongly about. Many people, as you know yourself, will feel totally convinced of something and make such statements, yet when you dig a bit deeper, you find out that it's just something they have heard so many times that they believe it must be true, without ever having actually bothered to do proper research for themselves. That's what I do too, I only argue if someone says 'this is what it says in the Qur'an' and they're either incorrect or it's actually from the hadiths ... that's how I've dealt with a lot of things with my husband so far ... He used to go on and on about the "signs of judgment day" and now he rarely talks about it after I was able to show him they were not in the Qur'an, and also pointed out the verses that say that Prophet Muhammad (saw) didn't know the future. With other family members though, that are older ... I feel it's rather hopeless and they're very set in their ways. They just listen to other people and they're sort of brainwashed in a way.

Salaam Born again, No, I was not looking for any of those verses. I am looking for a verse which tells men/women who want to get engaged to their partner to make a promise to god that they are going to stay together. So that they would not break their promise. But thanks anyway

Peace, Respect. welcome welcome tot he forum, sister Khad3ja. You might wanna first read these 7185 Have they not looked at the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that God has created? Perhaps their time is drawing near; so in which narrative after this one will they believe? 6112 And as such, We have permitted the enemies of every prophet mankind and Jinn devils to inspire each other with fancy words in order to deceive. Had your Lord willed, they would not have done it. You shall disregard them and their fabrications. 6113 That is so the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter will listen to it, and they will accept it, and they will take of it what they will. 6114 Shall I seek other than God as a judge when He has sent down to you the Book fully detailed? Those to whom We have given the Book know it is sent down from your Lord with the truth; so do not be of those who have doubt. 6115 And the word of your Lord has been completed with truth and justice; there is no changing His words. He is the Hearer, the Knower. 6116 And if you obey most of those on the earth they will lead you away from the path of God; that is because they follow conjecture, and that is because they only guess. 316 And from the people, there are those who will purchase a baseless narrative with which to mislead from the path of God without knowledge, and to make it a mockery. These will have a humiliating retribution. 3923 God has sent down the best narrative, a Book that is similar, dual. The skins of those who are concerned towards their Lord shiver from it, then their skins and their hearts soften up to the remembrance of God. Such is the guidance of God; He guides with it whoever He wills. And for whoever God misguides, then none can guide him. 456 These are the revelations of God, We recite them to you with the truth. So, in which narrative after God and His revelations do they believe? 5234 Let them produce a narrative like this, if they are truthful. 6844 Therefore, let Me deal with those who reject this narrative; We will entice them from where they do not perceive. 6940 This is the utterance of an honorable messenger. 6941 It is not the utterance of a poet; rarely do you believe. 6942 Nor the utterance of a soothsayer; rarely do you take heed. 6943 A revelation from the Lord of the worlds. 6944 And had he attributed anything falsely to Us. 6945 We would have seized him by the right. 6946 Then, We would have severed his life-line. 6947 None of you would be able to prevent it. 7750 So in what narrative, after it, will they believe? These are just some of the arguments that might be useful in the debate with a sunni or shia. Keep in mind that you must be patient and always grateful to God. Always seek God and ask Him, He hears all and sees all. Keep up the prayers sister and read The Qur'an. Peace.

why interpretations, commentaries? The book didn?t need any interpretation or commentary, we need it now only because of all the corruption and fabrications of the religion. qualifications? Since the book is about human so one must also have knowledge of psychology, sociology and other Cognitive sciences. reliability? All the interpretations are non-reliable. The most reliable interpretation and commentary will come through Cognitive sciences! Just my opinion! Peace

Believe me, you won't. I'm crap, started way too late. I was begging my parents for a piano from a young age on, but only got one at the age of 13/14, which is pretty late to start playing. http//img337.imageshack.us/img337/3135/iconconfused.gif Peace, Respect. Then you should remove the sadness by listening to Jeff Dunham and peanut. Trust me. Peace.

Peace, Respect. During my visit to Slovenia, I read something in The Qur'an that got my attention and I haven't been able to sleep easy since. 1649 And to God prostrate all those in the heavens and all those on the earth, from the creatures and the angels, and they are not arrogant. Apparently there are creatures and then there are angels. Aren't angels creatures? I can see from the verse that they are not. Unless you got some other verse/s. God knows best. Angels are not necessairily what we imagine or what we think, I guess it leaves us only one sentence God truly knows best. Peace.

What is the purpose of killing jews, or anyone else? This doesn't set an example. Peace, Respect. Yes, I agree. We should not kill anyone, until our own life is endangered. We keep forgetting the Commandment"Thou shall NOT kill!" We should wake up every morning and after we say good morning to our spouse, our kids, have our breakfast, we should recite all Ten Commandments. Just a thought, it's not obligatory .... Peace.

Not an Arabic speaker but I have just asked my husband and his friend what naskh means and they both said in unison 'COPY' I have looked at the verse and just using google translator that too says 'copy'. Further on in the verse it says 'or cause to be forgotten' and the word translated as this is nunsiha according to corpus Quran, but according to google this means 'Our Revelations' and the word 'to delete or abrogate' is Lgh again confirmed by both my Arabic speakers here. I have just copied each word separately into google and got this what copy from verse or our revelations come fine including or ideals pain learning that God at all thing competent. nothing about abrogate or cause to forget. ??? peace Is this a reply to my post? If it is, I'm talking about 16101 not 2106, I said that I don't believe 2106 means abrogate or verses naskh is not mentioned in 16101 16101 Transliteration Wa-itha baddalna ayatan makana ayatin waAllahu aAAlamu bima yunazzilu qaloo innama anta muftarin bal aktharuhum la yaAAlamoona Literal And if We exchanged/replaced/substituted a verse in place (of) a verse , and God is more knowledgeable with what He descends, they said "But you are a fabricator/cutter and splitter." Rather most of them do not know. I think the following argument is compelling, when questioning whether 2106 is referring to verses The words "We replace it with its equal" would be meaningless if the word ?Ayah? in this verse meant a Quranic verse, simply because it would make no sense for God to invalidate one verse then replace it with one that is identical to it! (It says something better or similar, correct?)

Salam, Not only Circumcision is a contradiction with regards to the Quran as there is nowhere in the Quran that God asks the believing men and women to circumcise their boys!!! but also deviant tradition, supported by a well known cultural and religious bias, even thought they claim otherwise. All the pseudo scientific researches trying to prove that circumcision is good for sex and health, and those promoting it are conveniently biased! Do a background check, please. Also while you're at it what about try and look into the Risks, complications, and drawbacks of circumcision? This is not something insignificant! you might consider it thought, same as do the majority of traditionalists. Many of us here were brought up in different environment socially, economically and traditionally, and this plays a major role in forging inside each one of us a sense of belonging, a link that is difficult to part from. We are told in the Quran to follow the Quran, and not accumulated traditions. Circumcision is an old tradition and has nothing to do with Islam. Islam doesn't impose anything on anyone.. so may I ask you what choice does a child has? Regards

I am always somewhat mytified when people see clearly that the end of the world, or of civilisation is coming, or a new extinction of species end-of-the-world-like or whatever. 20.15 I see as a reminder of the fact that that every soul will be weighd and every atom of good will be acknowledged, and every atom of evil will be acknowledged. A do not particularly bind that to any worldly event. In the dunya we are in a material realm where everything is constrained and subject to the time and space dimensions. Once we are dead, do we know what kind of conditions we will be in? Will time-space be of any consequence. 72.27 does not say anything about the future, it talks about al-Ga'ib. Al ga'ib may well be beyond space-time constraints and not refer at all to end of the world. The end of the world is at hand, that is for sure, for many of us much closer than fifty years. The end of the world is when we die. Salaam

Seen the stuff...Sad. Yet in the near future WikiLeaks is going to have a new vid about American troops in Afghanistan killing innocent civilians. Seems these guys make killing Muslims the new version of the movie Death Race 2000. One question...What would be their reaction to foreign troops killing innocent people on American soil?

Its been some time since I stopped in. BTW, hi all. This incident of the lightning hitting the Jesus statue. It was nature, pure and simple. Attributing anything else can be compared to a tornado hitting a mosque, church, or synagogue. Just because one particular religious item was targeted by nature, this is no reason to start any wild conspiracy theories.
