It took me five years or so, shrugging the hadith info from my mind, and the guilt of rejecting the hadith as a source of info for God's religion. Reading the Hadith voluntarily when I was between 12-16 years of age, I had come to a confused situation where I believed I can never satisfy God and never be eligible for Heaven! But then I had nowhere to go and ask further questions, as the mullahs and imams were ready to thrash me for my "stupid" questions. Alhamdullillah, I feel more relaxed and stronger now, but still it is a long way to go.

Newsflash We already have the power and the cash. We don't need Afghanistan and Iraq so we can become more dominant. We need them to stabilize to help reduce the havens for terrorists, make clear that tyrants cannot thumb their nose at the world and get away with it, and get the ball rolling toward democracy in the Middle East which will be better for everyone and lessen the threat of terrorist attacks in the US and everywhere else. I've been trying to figure out for a while what exactly the Injeel is. It says in the Qur'an that it was sent down to Jesus (549), so it doesn't make sense that it would be the various Gospels or other books of the Bible, as those were clearly written by people other than Jesus. If we consider it to be the word of Jesus, does this mean that everything that Jesus ever said is part of the Injeel, or only part of what he said? Could the Gospel according to Thomas (discovered at Nag Hammadi) be the Injeel, or at least part of it, as it records important sayings of Jesus without the commentary and stories added by the other Gospel writers? salam. i myself havent completely understood what exactly injeel is , but checkout the online lectures on "taurah/injeel" and "alkitab" at www.iipc.tv . but it is definately not the gospels .

Hello Enquirer, Peace lote-tree. Interesting post. In my mind the divide between polytheism and monotheism is sometimes just semantics, they are both pointing to a similiar idea and reality. To you yes perhaps but there is a real division of mind and heart to many people. It is when people overcome this "divide" within then they become tolerant of other peoples views of the Absolute Reality. Its when narrow-mindedness and intolerance/sectarianism take hold that divisions/misunderstandings can arise. Yes true. Pagan belief however has always been quite tolerant. It is the Monotheist that were and can be very intolerant... Many things seemingly transcend intellect and reason,but can still be believed rationally and logically by many....eg life after death,love etc.. So God=everthing may appeal to the many too. But this has not happened Enquirer. The "God of the Mystics" have always appealed a minority of people. When "Al-Halaj" cried "I am the Truth", people around him were very shocked by his pronoucement. They were so disturbed by his words that they executed him! Esoteric Truths never appealed to the masses very much... (I think logic,reason,experience,intellect,intuition and imagination can all work together in synergy to verify ones 'knowledge'.) peace all. Bro, this is exactly what i was going to say indeed, people with ego will regfuse to listen to the Quran, hence they don't need it Peace I didn't say that they would feel that they would need it, but rather that they would need it in order to bust up their huge egos and to get closer to God. There's a lot of people who refuse to do what's good for themselves and others because of their egos, and getting closer to God is unfortunately one of those things. Having a big ego is the root of all idolatry, because such a person thinks HE is the one who knows what's right and what's wrong, instead of following God's guidance, be it through the Qur'an or otherwise. Ok mate, I agree but I hope their huge ego will not overcome the need for the Quran for true guidance and prosperity in this life and after peace

Here is meaning of sabr according to the glossary of Parwez S'abireen - (Sad-Ba-Ra). Sabar means to continuously remain busy in the achievement of an objective, so the basic meanings are steadfastness, forbearance or to keep on the struggle. As-Sabeero is the cloud which remains static at one place around the clock and does not move here or there; also means a mountain (Taj). Al-Asbira are those camels or goats which regularly return to their masters, morning or evening and do not keep away from them (Taj / Lane). As-S'aboora is that lump of earth or stone which is kept in a boat so that it remains stable and does not get unbalanced (Moheet). As-Subrata is that heap of grain, which has not yet been weighed or measured (Taj). Sabrun also means to stop, prevent, to imprison (Ibn-i-Faris). Yameen-us-Sab'r is an oath taken under duress (Taj). Verse (2/61) says, "O Moses, we cannot persist at one type of food." Lan Nasbira-'ala-T'aamin Wahidin. Verse (2/250) explains the basic meaning of Sabar, "O Our Rabb grant us enough perseverance to remain steadfast and firm." In verse (18/67-6 Sabar has been used to say, "You would not be able to remain patient, and how will you be able to bear with that which is beyond your knowledge or comprehension?" Verse (8/65) is very important and explains the basic meanings. It says, "If there are, for instance, twenty men among you, who can remain stead-fast and firm (S'abiroon) they would overcome two hundred of the opposing force." These are the people who are called S'abireen who remain steadfast in adverse circumstances or difficult situations. The next verse (8/66) explains that if you are weak, i.e., not fully equipped or trained, then the ratio is lowered one hundred would vanquish two hundred and one thousand would overcome two thousand provided they remain "stead-fast and firm" (S'abireen). What a pity that today the meaning of Sabar is just the opposite. It shows a state of helplessness when nothing else can be done. The Quranic concept was to remain steadfast and firm and to overtake one another in this field (3/199). A nation can only progress or retain a place of respect if it is steadfast. But if it becomes inactive and helpless, then the Laws of Allah would not come to their help, as they only help the S'abireen. (Innalla-ha M'aas S'abireen). In (2/157) Allah says, "These are the people who are considered to be eminently deserving the blessings and laudation of their Creator and Sustainer."

This is similiar to some sufis understanding of the physical 5 times salat being a vehicle to greater awareness,which one can discard when one has reached a certain level,and then become 'infused' with the love of God. I believe your post is very perceptive;when one realises the true purpose of salat and the quran then one can find enlightenment anywhere without necessarily referring to the quran or following certain procedures exactly. I also believe the way to live and conduct your life is by seeking truth for yourself(from within and from the external universe.) and continually trying to 'do the right thing'. Peace all.

Peace idol-free and all. I totally agree with kitab meaning the universe.(in its true reality.). I also view the quran as a part of that universe,and for the purpose of this post i put the word 'quran' in as many assume the verse to be about the book that is called the quran.I know that you view the quran as any reading(not just the 114 chapters.) and i also have sympathy with that view. When posting i was making the assumption that i was addressing people who were of the quran=book opinion. And one of my main messages was we have to be very careful in interpretating texts.This also applies to the universe and anything we read or regard as knowledge. I am glad you pointed out that point,as it is very important to discern/clarify/understand the information we receive,whether from a specific book or from any other part of the universe. Peace.
