It reminds me of ancient Egyptians who did not have a ceremony legal or otherwise for marriage. The marriage that existed was a de facto marriage, if two people spend the night under the same roof, they were considered married. On the other hand you did have to go to the courts for divorce. I think that makes a lot of sense. The oral divorce it seems that it need even not to be told to the face but done on the phone or through sms, which is a bigger joke. Salaam I know it's horrible. It's like people who think its a part of religion haven't even read the book.

The thing that doesn't add up is definitely our understanding. It is our understanding that is lacking. Even our logic becomes flawed due to our extremely limited scope. I seriously doubt that we understand what's going on. We try to reason beyond reason. We worship our mental faculties, our brain and intellect. We worship it. But what we miss is that our brain and mind will never make us experience God or reality. The intellect is just a tool, but we worship it like a deity. We also create a false dichotomy between emotions and reason, while these are just worldly things, parts of our worldly bodies. The permeating presence of God, is invisible to use due to our worship of our worldly avatars-realities. God is closer to us than our jugular vein. It's really like birds debating the existence of air. Also, we keep calling God as a he, a separate entity. Peace, I agree there are no rigid rituals such as obligatory prayers at fixed time in fixed rites & procedures relating to salat . There are also no fixed % for zakat in the Quran. The OP re pareto analysis is about efficiency and optimization within the human default of limiting time, resource and conditions. Such critical thinking exercises are not fixed rituals but rather is an attitude of efficiency. For 1000++ years those who practice prayers in fixed time with fixed rites and rituals thought they were on the 'perfect' right track. Since Allah condone and favor those who think & reason and ponder and who are men of understanding , those who are able should try to practice critical thinking and problem solving to find efficient and optimal ways to practice Islam. God will always help you see your efficiency. He'll also show you signs if you are wrong somewhere. No worries.

So, it is not related to God's day equals to 1000 our years. What about the mention of 50000 years? both are for specific events according to human point of view 325 He governs all that exists, from the celestial Highs to the Lows. And all things evolve higher to what they are meant to be in such stages where a single Day(youm) before Him equals a thousand years according to your count. 704 The controllers and the Spirit ascend to Him in a day(youm) which is equivalent to fifty thousand years so using word "time" for comparing God day is not appropriate he is beyond our perception he must be out of space and time , space and creation itself generated by God/supreme being/almighty. so these verses applied to human understandings of time from space to space..destiny to destiny.. and "youm" defination according to quran is also a specific period of times .. from location to location

Salam Fred, There is no need to apologise at all. My personal views are my personal views. Your are yours and I am sure we both respect that. My expressions and reiteration of the Quran being the Final Testament of the same religion (as the Torah & Gospel) were indeed meant to express a sense of universalism or of only one real universal faith which is for all humans to submit to God. I live in an area where there is a strong orthodox Jewish community. I like the way they live and their general conservatism in many matters of life. There is also a strong Asian/Arab community very close by which I think many see as Muslim (indeed many wear symbols to show this) and which is very cultural/symbolic. There are also lots of Christian churches... mostly protestant but some also catholic and orthodox. I have noticed a large number of local protestant Christians converting to Catholicism and Judaism. I cannot but help but see the cultural ease of these conversions. Ie I feel that it is an easy and natural cultural step to go from Protestantism to Catholicism or to Judaism especially when the people see the cultural closeness of these paths in contrast to the Asian/Arab culture/symbols that many mistake for Islam. My personal view is that a universalist path, which we all seek, may be facilitated by trying to transcend the cultural ones. Salam Baitachal, Some communities use emotional backmail and other sorts of pressure to keep their children and flock together. We have to remember that we will only be answerable for our own souls to our Creator - we will not be answerable to our parents or other peers. Man is a social animal so social castration or ex-communication is seen as a big thing, but as one potential solution, one needs to surround oneself with those who do not judge but accept you truly for who you are. I think that many including myself have been through situations similar to yourself but at the end of the day you have to remember again that ISLAM is not about beleiving other people or believing what they want you to beleive to keep them happy. It is something between you and your Creator. I noticed another post by you regarding ex-Muslims - I couldnt find that one again - but needless to say, my older brother said to me many years ago how much he hated Muslims (and being a Muslim) because of how the Arab and Pakistani Muslims around him behaved. I responded to him by saying that if you see other people brush their teeth in a bad way that causes them gum disease and for their teeth to fall out, would you stop brushing your teeth? It may not be the most accurate comparison, but either way, if those who call themselves Muslims are dealing drugs, or other crime, it does not mean that those transgressions are part of Islam - it just means that people are using Islam but perhaps it is not in their hearts. I have seen guys with beards to their knees who deal drugs and swear like their is no tomorrow. I keep well away from them. The other thing is the tag "ex-Muslim" - I don't understand this - why would anyone define themselves by what they are not? Ie, I am an ex-runner - I dont run so much now.... but I don't define myself as an "ex-runner."... I also think that the vast majority of the "ex-Muslim" crowd are not really "ex" anything other than EX-tra-resentful. Maybe they just wish ardently that they were Muslims.... Salam Ed

First and foremost is to lead by example, i.e. practice the principles/ethics in Quran in your life. Second, if the opportunity arises during conversation to bring in the Quranic perspective on a topic, you can mention this. Not in a forceful way, but simply highlighting what Quran says on the subject, or asking open questions about their view, e.g. what is the evidence for that view? Please remember that the vast majority of followers of religion (Muslims, Christians, Jews etc) are not well informed about their own faith, and most will get emotional/clouded in their thinking when their views are challenged. Tread carefully.

will you plz detail it a bit i may understand it properly? i think you are asking that what is purpose of making these laws ? What I mean is that the deformation of human body (for example) are part of the perfect system. Because it was intended to be created like that from the beginning? Also, maybe it is a mistranslation? Not "perfect" but "complete".

I agree with good logic that salat does not always mean connecting prayer. It could be reading reciting the Quran and followed by being steadfast in following God's message(following closely )

Simplified conditional clause IF not two men THEN a man and two women However, it should be noted that transactions must be mutually agreed upon and the verse clearly states the witnesses must be agreed upon - mutual agreement is the key principle - thus the transacting parties could choose whomever they agreed upon, whether it be one man and one woman, 2 women only, 6 men and 2 women etc etc. You say " THEN/SO IF there are not two men" It does not say that it says what you write after "If not two men"which is the same as "if it is not two men" The meaning changes. It is not at all saying that if there ar e not two men, whether there are or not is not to the point the point is if it is not two men you pick. No hint is giving as to the abundance or lack of men or women. I recommend readin thread Assuming that only two men are available is wrong and makes the look nonsensical. Again, what guarantees that always but always if there are not two men it is absolutely sure that always there is going to be one man, so that he can be with two women. What sense does that make. Fromwhense such n assurance. What if there ar eno men at all? four women? three? Two would suffice? Then why need a man if there are to be two women. How can one determine the difference if one is being tested by Allah or being abused. Test of God does not last long. It is temporary in nature, but the mistake made by going in a relationship with an abusive person is hard to correct because the abuse keeps persisting. The problem is usually in that person. If they are narcissistic they may not realize that they are being abusive.

What next? Putting GOD somewhere between Ganghi and Hitler on the spectrum of behaviour? What does GOD gain from punishing ? Just look at these meanings of that word-malevolent- and ponder it "Wishing harm/evil to others,ill-disposed,malicious,spiteful..." Salam, The name "Ahmed" that is mentioned in this verse is a bit of a mystery. It is either the proper name of the prophet, and "Mohammed" is the description - or "Ahmed" is the description... w salam , yeh its correct it can be be both ways interestingly both names ended with same root meanings "hamad" the praise. traditional stories tells us this name "ahmed" suggested by an angel to the mother of prophet upon his birth. i have another idea sometimes people are known by their nick names more than original so thats why both names are mention there in scripture.. or one of these names is titled to him after or just before prophethood ..?
