Salam to you. Welcome to the forum. As others have implied, no matter how much or how many people we want to save, it is God who will do the saving. Everyone has had access to the Quran over the last decade - whether Hadithists or even the haters. So the message has been permeated to them. I personally don't want to convince anyone that they should be Muslim as it becomes a competition about who convinces the best and who has the bigger club - I think it may happen in one's life where God inspires us to use his argumentation with someone, as Abraham did with people, but as a general idea, I am happy with the adage of - "each to their own" (chosen path) - as long as we respect each others freedom to practice our chosen paths. I pray that you find and define your path through the Quran alone - and use this forum to bounce ideas. Good luck with the religion concept - not sure I fully comprehend it but I am sure we will bounce ideas around on this portal about it as well as other topics. Salam Ed

Hi, When Quran mentions about "submission (to will of God)" at some verse, scholars(!) actually don't translate it to other languages correctly and keep its original form in Arabic. This makes people think that God dictates us to join some particular religion called "Islam" but actually not. Islam's main sources are hadiths, arabic traditions, lies of mindless clergies, and other fabricated things but Quran. Peace.

I didn't intend to make a prayer-thread here but I have some suggestions Verse 12100 says wakharroo lahu sujjadan = they fell down to him prostrating even if here "sujjadan" were just meant as "submit to the will of another", there is still a real physical act with the intention to submit. Interestingly in my english translation the parents are not raised upon the throne. And it says "they all" (so perhaps also his brothers) fell on their knees. 12100 He helped his parents to a couch, and they all fell on their knees and prostrated themselves before him. then Verse 1958 kharroo sujjadan = they fell prostrating For when the revelations of the Merciful were recited to them they fell down on their knees in tears and adoration. and 3215 (Surah As-Sajda!) kharroo sujjadan = fall down prostrating None believes in Our revelations save those who, when reminded of them, prostrate themselves in adoration and give glory to their Lord in all humility; who forsake their beds to pray to their Lord in fear and hope; who give in alms from what We gave them. No mortal knows what bliss will be in store for these as a reward for their labours. They leave their bed to pray. So that is surely a physical prayer. But not a ritual in that sense that every detail is exactly fixed. The root word Ra-Fa-Ayn (the 1st word of 12100) defines to = to raise/uplift/elevate etc. The root word Ra-Fa-Dal defines to = help/aid, give, to make a present etc. I see you're using R J Dawood's translation, for some reason it has brackets "(draft)" next to his name, when I looked it up on islamawakened website quran corpus. Also, he's the only one using the word "help" on islamawakaned quran corpus. Free-minds Quran translation for 3216 goes as follow Their sides readily forsake their beds, to call on their Lord out of fear and hope, and from Our provisions to them they give. The root word Dal-Ayn-Waw defines to = to seek, desire, ask, demand, call upon, invoke, ascribe, cry out, call out to, pray, supplicate. It just depends on what you mean by physical. Getting out of bed is being physical in a sense that you're moving yourself out of bed. Root word definitions help with understanding. I recommend Free-minds translation. It was refreshing to see the "surahs/chapters" not being named. In the original Quran copy there wouldn't be names of each chapter/surah and their translation, they were man made to help the reader. Welcome Baitachal! I read some of your posts and also introductions of others from muslim-countries. Here in germany, if I wanted to worship a holy cow, I could do that. But we do pay a price for our extreme individualism. As you surely know, it was even worse here in europe in earlier centuries, as the church still had secular power. Sometimes I think if they already had the nuclear bomb at that time, europe surely wouldn't exist today. I can believe and practise what I want here, not because people are so much more friendly and tolerant, but because they don't care! Once I was in the underground railway and a man, perhaps a jehovas witness, began to speak to me about God and Jesus. I listened because I wanted to be friendly and some things he said were interesting. Suddenly he stopped and looked around and said See how people shake their head when I speak about God. And he didn't speak too loud or in a fanatic way. Indeed they couldn't even bear that someone talked about God. You didn't become just an ex-muslim like so many, you were able to come to the conclusion that Quran only is the correct way. So I think your parents must have done something right in your upbringing, as you seem to be very young. I really try to think myself into such a situation like yours, that's difficult. I think you manage it very well. Aw thank you this means so much! I think I've always just pondered and had a curious mind, and a strong will. So when I was confused and disheartened by my faith, I didn't want to give up. I needed to know more. Alhumdulilah I found a way. I still get doubtful thoughts but I'm always questioning and searching for more. I will never give up. I know Allah is with me.

Welcome to the forum. I don't think "moderate" muslims are so quiet about terrorist attacks. Lots of Muslims are against it and are vocal about it. Also just based on what I hear/see I think there is a strong social bias about expectations on muslims apologising for these acts. When the situation is reversed the same expectations are not so apparent. But anyway alhamdulillah, from something not so positive turned into something positive for you.

Thanks for the welcome Comrox and Peace to you too! Thanks again imrankhawaja for the recommedations of posters to look out for on here. I must confess that I am not a big fan of numerology - and I will qualify this I accept that when a pattern repeats itself based on specific numbers in the Quran - it could be of potential relevance - especially the number 19. Here I admit I do have an open mind. However, when meanings and sounds are assigned to numbers based on different cultures and traditions - ie the Alphanumeric system as some call it, then I feel the same thing is happening when Hadithists apply their cultural rules to the Quran to change the true message. This is especially true when one considers that God gave the Quran in clear Arabic speech so all could understand it. Not for us to be experts in numerology - and furthermore, not even to have an appendix in the Quran (from God) that would show us that Numerology is needed for us to somehow be more firm believers. I have nothing against numerologists, whether they be of the i-Ching, Kabbalah or other types. I refer back to the words in the Quran that the message is simple and those who seek deeper meanings - especially based on their hobbies and interests are possibly missing the actualy first spiritual message. Also, lets say that the Quran has a first level message that is meant for all humanity - to go past this to numbers to prove that the first message is true means that a particular reader who needs to do this has missed the first message. Its like the curse of today when we need to use science to prove everything - it seems people have made maths and science their gods. Yet, maths and science are very much like logic - it can be used to justify absolutely anything you want - case in example i) there is global warning ii) there is not global warming. What people dont realize is that the prevalent culture uses science in a very selective manner to justify what it wants to justify. Then when you add that Science is run by corporate interests then you will see how much of a false god Science has become. Think about Tobacco companies who are not only providing direct research funding for, but also themselves, researching on cancer diagnostics - I mean what is the point of this? Do the Tobacco companies want to diagnose cancer in tobacco smokers so that they can sell them a different brand of tobacco or try and heal them a bit so they can sell them more tobacco in the longer term. It all seems twisted. I have seen numerology applied to different texts to prove certain things. And that is fine for those who want to do it. But for me, I belive in the Quran and don't require the use of numbers to validate my belief in the Quran. Regards and Peace Ed

Sudah sejak lama sebenarnya ane meragukan keaslian hadits karena metode sanad yang sangat tidak reliable untuk dijadikan patokan, namun hal yang menahan ane untuk berhenti menggunakan hadits adalah ayat ayat Qur'an seperti 459, 3321, 533-4 nah setelah dalam debat itu ane dijelaskan maksud dari ayat ayat itu dan penerapannya yang sangat mungkin dilakukan tanpa hadits maka seketika itu pula ane tidak lagi menggunakan hadits sebagai hudan.
