However when checking the occurences of ZAKAT, I found one verse which still needs further elaboration as it somehow still fits ZAKAT=charity. The verse is 3039. I would not prefer to have my first post here dwelling on a very specific concept in the Quran. Instead, I would want to tell my views regarding the overall message of the Quran. Have a look at the Qur'an Chapter 24 verse 31 and 3359. In these ayatin (signs / messages) God is advising women to dress modestly. In 2431 God advises to ~ bikhumurihinna, (take your covers) - which can mean any cover not necessarily a Head scarf - and drape it over your Juybihinna - which translate as CHEST and not HEAD or HAIR, (which is RAS in classical Arabic). Then the verse explains znatahunna as hidden beauty and not ahara that which is apparent. In my humble understanding I do not see how apparent would include head, hair, face, hands or feet? I think that if people read the Classical Arabic as it is meant to be read, instead of relying on religious Clerics to give their own understanding, which more often than not has a hidden agenda, you might find that al Qur'an enlightens you to the true path. Unfortunately the Sectarians insist on woman dressing like 7th century Arabs, this not only promotes oppression of many Women in these countries, but perpetuates the misogynistic ideology. Modesty is what the Sustainer recommends, not completely shrouding oneself. Here in the West, it is usual to see peoples hair, hands, feet and face. These are referred to in 2431 as ahara (apparent). The verse tells the Women to take their COVERS and DRAW them over their juybihinna, (CHEST, BOSOMS) and not to show their znatahunna, (embellishment, enhancement, beauty). Now what is this znatahunna (embellishment, beauty)? If you carry on reading the verse, God points out that women can relax this dress code in the presence of certain family members, and particularly young children who are not aware of a Woman's awrti (sexual aspects). Thus letting us know that the juybihinna, (CHEST, BOSOMS) are part of the znatahunna, the hidden aspects of a woman's beauty, adornment, and that ahara (apparent) are those things that we take for granted, like eyes, hair, hands, face, feet.Hope this helps? Brother there is no word for "specific" in the Arabic text as per my little knowledge of Arabic. Min means from. So the phrase means "from our signs". Since it is not saying all of our signs you can say "some signs" means "a seb-set of all the signs". But ayat does not say specific signs from all our signs. When we translate as "specific signs from all of our signs" it is adding extra to the ayat to support certain story. Salaam You should first read the basic rule for preposition. Just read English grammar. A preposition is not used for its own meanings but it relates to some other entity in the sentence. Prepositional phrase is never the object of a verb nor it is subject of a sentence. Your insistence is baseless and because of basic knowledge about prepositions.

its not a book of guidance but a book of warnings and old stories. Firstly a book of guidance; guidance necessitates to give glad tidings for adhering to guidance and warnings about bad upshot otherwise; to warn for taking lesson and paying heed the Narratives of past people are also mentioned and that is the maximum part of the text.

Interesting question. If we read the previous ayas, we see that there is a question of guetting ready for the armed struggle. War, at whatever scale is not a pleasure. People dislike it, yhey may die or get maimed. People shun getting into war. AndGod tells the prophet that numbers should not be a deterrent for him because God if they are sincere and commited may give the victory. As can be deduced from the whole text, when the prophet and his followers went into war it wa not their choice but thrust unto them by their agressors, so in 8. 67 God tells them not to tke prisonners till theiy are not in command of the situation. Given the moral stndars of the then believers, if they took prisonner it is understood that they would take care of them humanely. So for the enemy in fact and given that the believers were in worse situation thna them in terms of numbers, it would be a good ploy to burden believers with a large number of prisonners which they should watch, guard and spend manpower ont hem instead of in the struggle. Therefore no choice should be given tot he agressors. If they had chose to take up arms against the believers, then they should go and fight to the end. No prisonners should be taken in order to obtain ransom of labour, that obviously would be corrupt and wuld weaken the believers. If and when they would have the upper hand then it would be the time to reach comprehensive settlement of all questions and set the terms of peace. That is what I can make out of it. Salaam

@newfreemind I do not believe tattooing is 'haram'. as no mention is made of it as such in the quran, then it is not 'haram'. the quran states what is 'haram' - after that, all else is 'halal'. certain things may not be good for you, but that does not make them forbidden.

It could refer to physical death as well as spiritual death.
