Peace. 415 And those of your women who commit lewdness, you shall bring four witnesses over them from among you; if they bear witness, then you shall restrict them in the homes until death terminates their lives, or God makes for them a way out. I find it hard to understand this verse. Reasons why is because I would say that its preaty hard to get four witnesses that have witnessed the same incident. What I can think of the meaning of the verse is maybe one witness to the actual incident and three other to testify as to good character of the actual witness. Or, maybe because the punishments are preaty strict God doesnt want us to punish an inocent person so he makes the rule of four witnesses. Thoughts Its talking about adultery. The same as the verses about lashing. Those verses were mainly delaing with slander and this verses you quoted with the adulterer.

@Mazhar You make an excellent point, in fact I started learning the Arabic alphabet just last week. Its a small step but my first ) You will by Allah grace find it easy! I learnt the arabic alphabet from a book at the library... and with some practice and interest over time you will see that it is in fact not hard at all. It is beautiful and a joy to learn and know. I have also learnt the very basic things of the language, and intent to formally educate myself in it... I'm sick of not being able to access the source text of the quran... and if others can learn it, so can I. I hope Mazhar is right when he says it is easy to learn... most people on internet says otherwise... but I guess it depends on your motivation. Peace!

So enlighten me on what Natural Law has to do with inheritence guidlines. 443 and 56 are regarding ablution, in case you dont have a Quran. Zachariah prayed to God (not God?) for an heir despite his wifes sterility. (192-9, 2189,90) Explain their prayers, seeing as you believe Muslims shouldn't pray to a non-existant God and it's wasted effort. Explain how the birth of John was according to Natural Law? Mary gave birth to Jesus without a father. (2191) Explain how this was Natural Law? Abraham was protected, by God (not God?) from the fire when his people tried to kill him. (2169) How was that Natural Law? Parralel universe? String theory maybe? I have no problem with super natural events anyways. That is how I read the scriptures.

".... Moses meanwhile talked to God face to face..." Is this what happened or Moses expressed a desire to see God but could not bear the sight and fell unconscious?? I did not mean face to face they way you understood it. He did not see God. I meant Moses talked to God directly from the bush.

mubashir, a person's actions isn't limited to their dress sense. people wear provocative clothing yet do good, people wear modest clothing yet do bad and vice versa.. point? in Pakistan the dupatta is part of normal cultural clothing, what is western society? why is it that they rise "above" head covering? western society is just a mix up of other cultures and influences. in western societies you find all kinds of walks. wearing or not wearing a covering is a personal choice. furthermore just because it raises "suspicion" that is purely speculation and discrimination against people of faith. Why? because of the mass media portraying muslims as such? let the good people step out and show otherwise. not everyone is a fanatic fool even if they have odd dress sense.

Salaam Karimah, Allah commanded Prophet to judge only by Quran, 548 And We have revealed to you, , the Book in truth, confirming that which preceded it of the Scripture and as a criterion over it. So JUDGE BETWEEN THEM BY WHAT ALLAH HAS REVEALED and do not follow their inclinations away from what has come to you of the truth?. And judge, , between them by WHAT ALLAH HAS REVEALED and do not follow their inclinations and beware of them, lest they tempt you away from some of what Allah has revealed to you. Hope it helps. Veey good response. On the mark.

I agree with you in what you said but remember that the Gospel itself never mentioned the prohibition of eating pork. Meaning that neither Jesus or his disciples ever reminded their followers to abstain from pork. So we must keep things in priority. This is not the ten commandments and nowhere did the Koran warn against eating pork or promise reward for not eating pork as it did with many things. The Koranic emphasis or the Gospelian emphasis is not there. So if a Koranist eat pork its like a Koranist not caring about any Qibla while praying. The Koran did talk about adhering to some Qibla and yet downplayed its significance. We must base things according to the Koran's prioirity and not become like the Israelites and the Sabbath. Some of them may not even feed the poor or do important work during the Sabbath. The Koran reminds us of falling trap to legalism and forgeting that heaven is not based on protocol. You have to earn it. Chewing and eating and swallowing pork is not going to determine your fate. It is important I believe that when discussing such matters that we take priorities into account. Do ye make the giving of drink to pilgrims, or the maintenance of the Sacred Mosque, equal to (the pious service of) those who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and strive with might and main in the cause of Allah? They are not comparable in the sight of Allah and Allah guides not those who do wrong. Those who believe, and suffer exile and strive with might and main, in Allah's cause, with their goods and their persons, have the highest rank in the sight of Allah they are the people who will achieve (salvation). 9.19-20 2.177. It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces Towards east or West; but it is righteousness- to believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your substance, out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayer, and practice regular charity; to fulfil the contracts which ye have made; and to be firm and patient, in pain (or suffering) and adversity, and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the Allah.fearing. So imagine eating or not eating pork. Yes, I realize eating pork is not going to send someone to the fire and for that matter neither will drinking alcohol or gambling but the fact is the more a person can lean towards abstaining from the things that are not the best for them the better they can lean towards the things that are the best for them. Perfect example is I have become Muslim around 7 years ago and after a life time of eating pork I decided to abstain and each time I am asked and I desist from eating it I feel like I am leaning towards what is best and not so much that pork is the issue but the leaning towards what is best but if I was hungry and eating the pork was the best thing to do I would do it and also feel I was leaning towards the best thing to do. I think the main issue is control and discipline if we can restrict ourselves from some small things we can have that strength as a reserve to ward off more difficult temptations but if we allow everything I believe we will be in a weakened state.

9122 With all this, it is not desirable that all of the believers take the field . From within every group in their midst, some shall refrain from going forth to war, and shall devote themselves to acquiring a deeper knowledge of the Faith. and teach their home-coming brethren, so that these might guard themselves against evil. How naive! Those who sat back will teach guarding againt evil to those who demonstrated the greatest sincereity by exposing their lives to be killed. Strange. Status and rank of those who participate in war for the cause of Allah is greater than those who do not participate for some reason. Hence this translation is also faulty.

Peace MaverickMonotheist, Earlier verses from 3817-23, God was referring to the prophet David and was tested about the Laws. To me, with these verses God is teaching us that even a king or a leader must follow God and His Laws. But as we can see today, it is not the case of most world leaders. Peace Joel. tauhid101

your are welcome GODsubmitter. One thing to note however, is that God Almighty differentiated us and gave us different Commandments, in order to test us. The clear Advice given would be translated as "RACE TOWARDS RIGHTEOUSNESS".

If Adam?s spouse was really a spouse/wife, then there should be no problem taking clothes off from each other and seeing naked or having sexual intercourse. This verse implies there?s something seriously wrong with Adam AND and his mate taking their clothes off in front of each other and seeing private parts of each other. What was wrong for shaitan to expose them to each other? If they are really spouse there should be no problem seeing each other naked. Does this mean that Adam wasn't supposed to see his mate naked? How can she be a mate then? saitan in their mind ruined them, they became naked ,lost everything, they became as naked as the homeless or vagabonds you see in the streets. nothing to do with nude , but they became exposed in their life and not their colths

Salam Kukumber, I have Dr. Kugle's book, Homosexuality in Islam and a couple of his essays as well. His book, in particular, was very well written although I don't agree with his interpretation of the Lut story. His position is that Lut was being sarcastic when he offered the daughters to the mob and he was never seriously considering giving them up. As I mentioned in my analysis, I think the angels were the very ones he was referring to as 'daughters' to emphasise that they were under his protection. The people of Lot were detsrroyed for the same reason that God destroyed the people of Noah, Saleh, Ilyas and others. Homosexuality or not. Its not the homsexuality I look at in that verse but the rape and agressiveness. "Indeed you ta'tuuna the men (al rijal), you cut the path, and you bring all vice to your society." But the only response from his people was to say, "Bring us God's retribution, if you are being truthful!" 29.29. "Do ye indeed approach men, and cut off the highway?- and practise wickedness (even) in your councils?" But his people gave no answer but this they said "Bring us the Wrath of Allah if thou tellest the truth." Maybe these guys were raping travellers and maybe this is why they were unique. Plus there is no reason to believe that lot gave his daughters to be raped by the mob. The verses about Lot was not discussing that subject and there is insufficient informaton to make that deduction.

I totally agree with you brother. My perception of marriage is commitment and mutual love, whether its a traditionel marriage or through MMA. The sunni understanding is just so disgusting. The fact that Sunnis not only legalize adultery, but also kidnapping and rape of even married women says a lot about how criminal and disgusting sunnism can be. Coming from a sunni background, I felt myself forced to defend these embarrasing crimes in sunnism to my western friends, like captive and maritial rape, slavery, child marriages, killing of apostates, and you name it - untill there just came a point where I felt so ashamed of my sunni belief that I just got enough and left sunnism altogether. I really didnt wanted to defend crimes anymore. So I just got enough. Thank God Quran saved me! I was watching a debate on Egyptian Tv about laws of divorce. A salafi wanted to introduce a law that challenges why the legal age of marriage should be 18 and not younger. He also wanted a women to be able to divorce only if she can give the judge a proper reason for that while the man can divorce for no reason. The channel then took some phone calls from women who had abusive husbands and had a hard time to divorce as proving things like abuse and neglect can be difficult. The salafi accused the channel of hiring actors as wives and did not want to believe the stories these women were telling. Anyways, I think that soon this salafi guy will get tired of defending all this. He will someday just decide to leave Sunni islam. You made a good point. There is only so much body punches a boxer can take before the he gets knocked out.

You mean belief, because faith has nothing to do with Islam thus you might just do anything you want even if it's forbidden in Islam Hmm, right you are, but the terms are interchangeable in my local dialect.

Salam on you! Thank you for your unswers. It is sad that the translators didint spend more time for reflecting on the true meaning. I can certainly see the delicate connection between being guided and maturing. RUSHD in the Quran is used to indicate the matureness given by God in almost all the ayas wehere it appears, we can not mature without the guidence from God. Yet the word for guidence in the Quran is not RUSHD, but HUDA. Peace!
