Dear Sister Indelwyn, Question/? Can you show me a verse or verses in The Qur'an that talks about SEXUALITY/GENDER or MARRIAGE/NIKAAHH regarding The HEREAFTER/AL'AAKHIRAH? What I meant by the above question is, according to The Qur?an in The Hereafter our physiological/biological structure is going to be quite different from this Earthly one. In this Earthly life, because of the natural law of ?ENTROPY? which causes the whole material world to age and eventually die out, we need to reproduce, because all living things die according to their life span. Sexuality is an evolutionary phenomenon necessary in serving the needs of Earthly living creatures, not to become extinct as species. According to The Qur?an, in The Hereafter we will be eternal and will not die at all, so there isn?t going to be any need for reproduction, so there isn?t going to be any need for SEXUAL activity, so there isn?t going to be any need for MARRIAGE/NIKAAHH. And I personally believe that there isn?t going to be any sexuality, be either ?MALE? or ?FEMALE?. I am not saying that, the Hereafter is going to be an immaterial realm. What I?m trying to say is that, in the Hereafter our physiological/biological build is going to be different from this very present phase of our existence. In The Qur?an God Almighty, repeatedly and very frequently, Puts most emphasis on the reality of the Hereafter by vividly describing the Paradise with all kinds of good Earthly like provisions, made readily available for the enjoyment of the believers. On the other hand, Hell is also described with the most painful Earthly experience, i.e., burning in fire. According to The Qur?an the Hereafter is the extension of this very present Universe. It is going to evolve out of this very present world. Coming of the Hereafter is not a philosophical opinion. It is a fact. It is an inevitable future event. So it is certainly a real/physical and awesome event. All I believe is that the governing Natural/PHYSICAL laws of the Hereafter is going to be completely different from the physical laws of this present Universe, and I?m not saying that just out of whim. We read in The Qur?an that in the Hereafter there is no more death, water doesn?t get polluted, and the taste of milk does not change, and so forth. Peace, Khalil Very well said, i absolutely agree with you, Khalil.

I would also suggest researching the Qaaba, its history, its geometry, and doing so with a completely open mind as to that and the true nature of 'monotheism'. In fact, I would start there before anywhere else. If you aim your heartbeat towards that structure and the people around it, it will beat back to you, as you read the Quran under a light of your own choosing. The references to Isa can be further illuminated upon via their source, that is the Gospels which were edited out of the New Testament as the Khazar/Roman alliance rose to the peak of its power and the knowledge of ancient Egypt tumbled into the sea. It wasn't that long ago. Salaam.

Salaam, You will be hard-pressed to find a narrative of Isra' Mi'raj in the Qur'an (that is, if you're looking for a detailed narration that is contained in the hadiths). You may, however, look at surah Al-Isra' (QS 17) to find a brief mention of the night journey of a prophet (which, in the later verse indicates that it is Moses instead of Muhammad). (1) Glorified be He Who carried His servant by night from the Inviolable Place of Worship to the Far Distant place of worship the neighbourhood whereof We have blessed, that We might show him of Our tokens! Lo! He, only He, is the Hearer, the Seer. (2) We gave unto Moses the Scripture, and We appointed it a guidance for the children of Israel, saying Choose no guardian beside Me. The above is Pickthall's translation. Hope that helps, and welcome to the forum! EDIT TO ADD elektro @ Mushu for beating me to it!! voodoo

I agree with that view completely. Heres some more Quranic input on the subject that might be of interest if it hasnt been laid down elsewhere already The Arabs said, "We are Mu'mens (believers)." Say, "You have not believed; what you should say is, `We are Muslims (submitters),' until belief is established in your hearts." If you obey GOD and His messenger, He will not put any of your works to waste. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful. Mu'mens (believers) are those who believe in GOD and His messenger, then attain the status of having no doubt whatsoever, and strive with their money and their lives in the cause of GOD. These are the truthful ones. Say, "Are you informing GOD about your religion? GOD knows everything in the heavens and the earth. GOD is Omniscient." They act as if they are doing you a favor by embracing Submission! Say, "You are not doing me any favors by embracing Submission. GOD is the One who is doing you a great favor by guiding you to the faith, if you are sincere." GOD knows all the secrets in the heavens and the earth; GOD is Seer of everything you do.

This is a really wonderful essay, and epitomizes why I am drawn to Islam. I agree that people who truly strive to surrender to God's will come in all different sorts of labels. I do my best in life to tune myself into the will of God, so in the most literal and strictest sense of the word, perhaps I can be called a Muslim. The reason I don't necessarily use that label is because I think that labels (particularly in these troubled times) divide, and because I believe that Allah is universal, I feel that my path is best left unlabeled. I really like the section about the hypocrites. Some truly awful people tend to populate the higher ranks of various religions, and using God's name (in whatever context) as a means to dominate the lives of other people is sickening. I think Islam is appealing, because in my overstanding, it is ultimately about an individual's relationship with God. In its best manifestation, it seems like Islam could provide the world with a means to truly interact with each other in a truly egalitarian manner (God willing!). There are definitely parts of the Koran that I find difficult to digest. However, I realize that since I have no knowledge of Arabic, I am not reading the true Koran. I think that at our core, a book is not needed to live the best life that an individual is capable of living. If we acknowledge God's existence, and strive to surrender to God's cosmic order, then the life we are hardwired to live will manifest itself in our daily lives.

Pantheism can be close association though. There is a fine difference. Instead of seeing God, one "sees" Gods will. Or even more beautiful to me, is, one sees ones own creation, and what ones has willed into existence. It says something about who you are. Attribute creation to yourself "Everything is my creation". (Instead of "I am everything.) If you have been a pantheist for many years, it will take many years to completely change ones mind. So I guess you would want to research everything on your own, which I what I suggest. My pointers in my previous post, will make it a bit easier. I have read minimal about Kabbalah, but I see they divide the ruh, into "lower self" "higher self" like the sufis, which I do not believe in. Instead lower and higher seems related to jinn, but I``m not quite sure about this yet. I do not believe in "manifestations" of Allah myself. Instead, all consciousness is God, and uncreated. The chant you post is interesting. But without it being Brahman, I guess it would have been inane.. Devas in hinduism often strike more as a concept like angels, but then again they are sometimes wicked.. And they are not to be worshipped.

590 O you who acknowledge, intoxicants, and gambling, and altars, and arrows of chance are tools of affliction used by the devil. You shall avoid him so that you may be successful. 591 The devil only wants to cause strife between you through intoxicants and gambling, and to repel you away from remembering God and from the contact prayer. Will you then desist? The fact is that alcohol is discouraged in the Quran because it can lead to strife, confusion and repel you from the remembrance of God. Before you take a sip of alcohol ask yourself these questions Question 1 Would an intelligent and sincere servant of God willfully consume a substance knowing full well that it can cause more harm than good??? Question 2 Is it worth the risk? ( Alcohol vs remembrance of God ) There are lots of good replies to this thread. If speaking strictly from the Koran, it seems that alcohol is not forbidden. Personally, I lean toward the view of KDC501's quote above. While alcohol is possibly okay in moderation, I think it tends to open people up to a very devilish state of mind. Hardcore alcoholism is no joke, and can lead an individual to a very nightmarish existence (and quite often, making his/her family and friends' existence pretty nightmarish as well). A very wise friend once pointed out to me the absurdity of some of the names of the drinks people put into their bodies Colt 45, Cobra, Magnum, etc. Why would anyone put something like that into their bodies? And yes, I do realize that not all drinkers consume malt liquors named after firearms and snakes.

Wakas, I tried your suggestion again but couldn't navigate. It gave me verses in Arabic. But before you get anoyed by my failure I have to say that I have gone to the study quran link that you have in your signature and have navigate really well through there. So after reading all the verses that mention Satan and taking in to consideration my lifts experiences I soul still say that he is preaty much involved in almost everything we do. I soul say that he either can be at many places at once or that be is spiritualy conected to his other evil jins and they soul be synchronized like a mashine. More you do wrong, more power he has over you and God can let him give you a hard time if you don't obey God. So further you go it would be harder to come back such is common sense. So obeying God would be the only way for protection. First of all obviously you have to believe in God(in case a non believer reads this). I would say that you have to balance out reason with your heart preaty well to come to know the truth. Anyway Satan has his fingers in a lot on earth. Thanks

The Nicean bible added them back, with 4 tainted and out of date accounts of the 'Gospel' ...along with the writings of a man who never knew Isa personally ...never even spoke of his life. Not to divert the discussion too much, but what exactly is the "Nicean Bible"? Also, is the "man who never knew Isa".. Paul of Tarsus? If so, then perhaps you are not aware that he claimed to receive a revelation from Christ, I would think that this qualifies as "personal knowledge", wouldn't you?

Salaam brother, Peace, 3/164 Certainly did Allah confer a favour upon the believers when He sent among them a messenger from themselves, reciting to them His verses and purifying them and giving them knowledge of the Book and wisdom , although they had been before in manifest error. Similar theme is found in 62/2 and 2/129. What is the nature of the teaching mentioned in these verses? Meaning, how did he teach The Book? Instead of 'teach' I take it as 'give knowledge' of 'AlKitaab' instead of 'The Book'. AlKitaab is different than AlQuraan. The following link may help you understand, inshaAllah. Peace all, Thankyou for your thoughtful responses, each valuable in their own right. My impression is that if one truly wants to steer clear from conjecture, the closest one can get to Truth is through personal effort in addressing the meaning of the words of the Quran and making up ones own mind. InshaaAllah we may all find our Straight Path. Peace.

Peace, How could both be structured equally? Hand has one elbow while each foot has two k'ab, one on each side. Could someone explain this to me please? Arjalakum is a plural, but al ka'bayni is dual. In English, each foot has one ankle, despite the bone protruding on both sides of the foot i.e. it is considered one joint. But in Arabic, the dual form in this verse denotes the two protruding bits on the foot? Or is the dual form alluding to two ankles, one on each foot?

Peace, All examples can be worked out using the template posted earlier... http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9599979.msg240753#msg240753 I have my own approach to this problem. Please critique it. So let us consider The Qur?an distinctly says that the male child will receive the share of two females and that if there are two or more females then the females receive 2/3 between them. In other words, if there are male children then the share of the children comes last since the ?double share? of the male must be preserved. No, says presicely "double share" is when they are exactly two! This has been explained... 411 starts with to the male equal share the two females Above if left alone would be as understood today includes all mixed daughter/s & son/s combinations; Qur'an continues with... ELSE IF they are women over two, so for them two thirds what left This excludes all combinations when > 2 or 3+ females from the first statement. Further continues... AND IF she was one, so for her the half This excludes the case of one female from the first statement above. Thus the only possibility to apply "to the male equal share the two females" is when they are exactly two! Whereas in 4176 the shares 1/2 or 2/3 for the sisters are when they are alone (i.e. no brothers) and Qur'an precisley states "Wa ?In Kn 'Ikhwatan Rijlan Wa Nis'an" which covers all possibilities for mixed siblings apply "to the male equal share the two females" and gives definition of Ikhwatun in 411 -- at least two persons, one is male. Let us use the example which people use to ?disprove Islam? Harold dies and leaves behind three daughters, two parents and his wife. The three daughters receive 2/3 between them, his wife receives 1/8 and the parents receive 1/3 of what is left. In this case there will be an excess which can be distributed to relatives or charity according to usage (48 ). There is never any access. 48 says to be benevolent give out of one's inheritance... http//corpus.quran.com/wordbyword.jsp?chapter=4&verse=8 1 - 1/3 parents - 1/8 wife = 13/24 CHILDREN (dependent on # of females) Without males the daughters get the whole same as would sons without females; else if mixed use... http//i45.tinypic.com/2zz4z0m.jpg

Thanks for your replies. I guess my point for discussion in describing the above example of iblis/shaitan is considering whether it is in fact the same (ie to be an 'unbeliever&#039 if one chooses to 'conceal/deny/reject' any one of Allah, Truth, righteousness, 'good' or anything which is the antithesis of evil, or indeed be 'ungrateful' for the same. And if so, does this perhaps imply that rejection of one of these is to reject them all - that there is perhaps no requirement for an explicit rejection of any particular one of these eg 'belief' in Allah as depicted by the Quran, because all that is the antithesis of evil is One and the same - the separation is illusory. That is, there exists only a duality of good and evil, and all other 'names', ideas, phenomena etc are synonymous with one of the two. From this perspective for example, it makes no difference if you encounter the Quran or not, but whether you do or not will change the appearance and nature of the events of the path your life takes on a journey between and ultimately toward one of the dualities. Ultimately only Allah knows the ultimate Truth, we can only therefore operate in a realm where everyone as individuals exists in a pseudo-reality in their minds, and when you think about it, this is fundamental to creating the differences between us which then creates a realm in which we can be tested for our choices between good and evil. Perhaps I am stating the obvious, but this seems to generalise nicely and bring together - unify if you like, some of the examples of definitions mentioned in the other replies, along the lines of what loxbox13 stated. It can perhaps also increase empathy and tolerance toward others, perhaps erroneously labeled 'unbelievers' simply because the nature of their 'test' looks different to ours. Allah knows best. Peace.

Siki, I hope this striking might have removed the clot blocking understanding a simple point. Surat 48 describes the victory with indefinite word and then links it to the specific city. In Surat 57 the word is made definite with Definite Article "Al". I advised you to read about "al". This Al is called / which indicates familiarity with the object due to it being previously known to both the speaker and listener.

But same is not true in case of 2-234, and 2-240, Here the reason is not indicated, rather "leaving behind" is stressed upon 2-234 and 2-240 Could it mean that above two instructions hold good for women who are separated from their mates due reasons other than bodily death as well? Peace Siki, This is a very good observation. Indeed this could be someone who is in a long sleep (in a coma). Peace and thanks, Ayman
