Peace Idolfree1 Peace be upon you, While we are told to maintain "salaat" at dawn and dusk, in order to align ourselves with the universal energy, the deeper significance is showing us that we are trying to put ourselves in the "Alpha" brain wave state, which is the MEDI-State between awake and sleep. This is the most receptive state where we still have control of some of the WILL, unlike in full dream mode where the will does not operate. Thats why you can dream about the craziest stuff and it is not questioned until you wake up. Anyway, the "merging of the day and night" is a metaphor for this middle state which is what we are trying to achieve so we can reprogram our behavior. Excellent post! I think this a very deep analysis... makes me wanna get my butt up early tomorrow morning! D May God bless you and increase you more in knowledge, brother Peace

Peace Translation of bennour?s article Reading of the Quran and not Singing Reading the quran normally as you would read any book, except that it must be read slowly and with thought ? this is the meaning of ?TARTEEL? , not turning it into a song or a melody as it is done today. The meaning of tarteel is the absence of sending something at one time and Allah states ?Those who disbelieved said ?Had it been that the quran was sent down to you all at once then we would have had proof of your sincerity.? And we sent it slowly, part by part? ?wa qal allatheena kafaroo lawla nozela aalayhi elquran jomla waheda lenothbet bihi fo-adeka wa RATALNAHO TARTEELA? This means God sent it down in parts and not the whole thing all at once. This is the meaning of TARTEEL of the sending down of the quran. So the meaning of the TARTEEL in its reading is reading slowly as well. The idea of singing the quran with a melody came into being through an invented Hadith that says ?And he who does not sing the quran does not follow me.? In this way, song became standard in churches. However, the meaning of the word IQRA (read) is known to all as being absent of melody or song by any means. If someone asked you ?Please read for me this message? would you begin singing in front of him? And if you did that would he say that you read it? And if this is the praised, or proper way then enter your schools and read your academic books by singing them. The quran was called the quran because he read it and this is the foundational quality of it, that is it is like poetry explaining His name. This does not give the person the right to sing it. Most of the religions, not all but most, sing their books. This is the real reason why this habit of singing was formed when reading the quran as well. If the Prophet really did sing the quran the disbelievers would have told him ? You are just a singer? but instead they said ? You are a poet? when they heard him reading it normally. And did Jibreel read the quran to the prophet or did he sing it to him as the muslims of today do? How could he have done that when he was the one who came and said about Allah { and when you read the quran, seek refuge from the cursed/hated Shaytan} (fa etha kara-to el quran fastaeth bellah men ashaytan el rajeem) So how did it happen that you now don?t differentiate between reading and singing in the quran? So the reading that you hear today, that you hear with ?tarteel? and tajweed? is nothing but a kind of postclassical form of Arabic poetry formed in stanzas. And anyone who wishes to destroy the meaning of Allah by means of His Book, then sing the quran and try this for a month. See the difference and if you found good in this kind of ?reading? then thank God and know that you read the quran with true reading. This is my email address if anyone wishes to take his anger out on me and curse at me. I noticed from people that this is a form of release and relaxation for them. So for those who need that I will allot 15 minutes on the msn messenger for each person to say whatever he wants to me. [email protected] The following are a list of ?open? topics you can choose from Reading the quran and not singing it God sent down upon us 3 salat and not 5 Friday prayer is not in Deen Allah The value of prayer is with time spent in it and not with the number of rakaat you can finish There is no shortening of the prayer except in war How do we ?pray? on the prophet and how do we ?pray? on a grave or funeral procession The MIDDLE Prayer The ?punishment in the grave? is a fairy tale The word AMEEN is not in our deen. Zakat The month of Ramadan is a fixed month and it is in a part of the winter The time of breaking fast is not when the sunsets but at night There is no other time for fasting except in Ramadan ever ever ever The Hajj is in 4 months and anyone can do hajj in any day What to do in Hajj When you sacrifice the calf you say ?praise be to the one who granted us this blessing? (subhan allathee sakhar lana hatha) Muslims stop eating pigs Stoning, the black stone, and the circling of the House are all invented by man Maqaam Ibrahim is not a carving or indentation but it is the House After the prophets, the Ulama are the ones who must lead with what Allah revealed Jesus is a Prophet of Allah and he died and he will not come again Jesus is the son of Mayram and Allah lifted him to Him with his body Whoever stones an adultress is a criminal who should be punished in a similar manner ? stoned. The ?Creature of the earth? (daabet el ard) Believing in the evil eye is shirk The Mahdi (promised one) The Jinn and the rukya dream (dream that has meaning) 8 words about Yom el DEEN The position of the witness Hope this helps. This was a very rough translation so pardon me for not being exact. I can?t seem to make it grammatically correct in English but you can get the gist of what he?s saying. Nice work, Bennoour!! Peace be upon you Omeiza, Let me try to put it this way Human beings are in contact with the world via the senses and the brain. Yes, Consciousness uses the mind which uses the brain which uses the senses. Everything that enters the mind must first pass through the Working Memory (The Attention). I dont know if I would use the word Memory to define it, but I am following you. Our behaviour is based on our feelings. Our feelings are based on our thoughts. Our thoughts are based on our beliefs. Our bahavior is based on our conditionings (feelings/likes/dislikes/emotions). Our thoughts are based on our conditionings. A belief is just a thought with energy behind it. We did not enter the world with any belief. We learnt everything here. Agreed, other than the knowledge of ONENESS, which we lost. We can change our beliefs and hence change ourselves. I agree 100% To change our beliefs/earlier learning intentionally, we need to work through our attention. I am not following what you mean here. My position is that we need to reprogram the subconsious(NAFS), which is where conditionings are stored. Al-Islam is all about replacing our wrong beliefs with the correct ones by the power of INTENTION/WILL. Only human adults have this ability. I agree. There has to be a strong resolve/decision for a change and this decision has to be kept at the attention to create the necessary change. I agree, mostly. But I exchange "attention" for "trance state". Many dont like that word but it is a very normal state that we go into everyday unknowingly. The decision to start with the change of self is known as al-Iman. The preservation of that decision at the attention is known as at-Taqwa. As-Salaat is part of at-Taqwa and it is meant to keep Allah at the attention as the focus of life. What do you say? I am rushing to respond so I dont want to comment on that just yet before looking carefully, I will respond tommorrow.

zulfa means nearness, and zulaf is the plural (broken plural as in sura (s) and swuar (p) The final alif at the end of zulaf (zulafa) is for grammatical reasns, the final noun (zulafan) is the indicator of the indefinite . Zulafan of night means few hours nearer to day time (evening, twiligt). Zulufan min allail is extra explanation to the second "taraf", the first taraf being dawn prayer. The verse could be understood thus tarafai (two tarafs extremities) annahar wa zulafan min allail indicated the time not the number of salat First taraf dawn secon taraf and zulaf from late afternoon (second taraf) to first hours of night nearer to day light , i.e. evening and a bit after Third salaat night (eshaa&#039.

Day and night! why would it matter to the almighty? In fact nothing matters to the almighty my acceptance or denial of HIS messeges revealed to HIS Prophet matters nothing to HIM. I only lose the best things, and most of all from the social point of view, we in a body lose the best things by demolishing the pillars of the social structure of Islam.

Thanks JHamza, Sorry for the late response! No unfortunately, I dont understand any arabic. I thank you for your detailed responses. I agree on what you say that because the Quran is silent on the details on the matter, there is no right or wrong way of doing salah after the compulsory positions mentioned in the Quran. That is why rakats or putting the arm on chest while standing are all fine. They all involve the positions mentioned in the Quran. Infact there are Muslims who simply stand in salah with hands on their sides, and they fully accept hadiths as far as I know. Peace to you )

Peace Root Waw-Siin-Tay = middle, midst, among, best, best part of a thing, mediate/intercede between, most remote from the extremes, equidistant, intermediate, most conforming/equitable/just/balanced, most excellent of them in particular. This applies to verses 1005, 2143, 2238*, 589, 6828 I'll keep trying to research the other mentioned verses. Peace.

Peace Enquirer, Peace ayman. You make some excellent observations, and ask some good questions. How does physically facing a direction distinguish a person as behaving peacefully(islamically.) or not? It surely is the attitude, intention and acts of a person which shows their behaviour as 'islamic'(peaceful.) or not. Otherwise people who pray towards mecca, yet bomb innocent people are thus regarded as behaving peacefully? shock Exactly, 2143 clearly says that the objective of allowing the first "qibla" is that when it is changed The God will know those follow the messenger from those who turn on their heels. This is ultimately what determines who goes to heaven and who goes to hell. I don't think that people will go to heaven by imagining to be facing a Mecca or Jerusalem. It is more likely that they will go to heaven by making their goal the truth from our Lord. This is what matters but for some a physical direction will continue to be a big deal. This is hardly surprising because it is clearly described in 2142-150. Peace, Ayman

hello nazz you asked "how can people force their understanding on another with such confidence?" Anybody trying to force an understanding on u? Most people here would tell u to search and find out for urself and the diversity of views can be confusing, yes, on the other hand they can make you consider many possibilies that a traditionnal, ritual following person would never even think of...may be because he doesn't think roll Now if some people think they have the only possible and exact understanding, i can only hope for them that they are right. peace lk

peace everyone i still feel the same way that servant does about salat. I used to do it the sunni way, and sometimes it did bring me great peace. The reason for that, and i'm pretty sure i know it, was that i believed i had done something good. I had devoted my time and energy to God. That's why i felt good. I knew that if i performed the ritual, God would solve my problems and set everything straight. And the reason that only happened somtimes is because other times i only did it because i had to. The intent wasn't there. I wasn't doing it to be close to God, i was just doing it because i had to. So that feeling of peace wasn't because of that ritual, but because of me knowing that i had been close to God and God is there to help me no matter what. so in the end, i dont think salat has to be somthing physical (like bowing down and reciting arabic words), it could just be like taking some time away from our everyday lives to admire the natural beauty of this world. Or something like that. Anything that would bring us closer to God. But doing these things probably won't have the effect that ritual salat has because we don't have that strong belief in them that we had on the ritual. the 'fact' that ritual salat brings 'peace' is ingrained in our minds, and it'll be hard to get rid of it.
