salam. there is no verse in the quran that prohibits more than a certain number of wives.

anyone who claims more than any number is prohibited is adding to the quran. therefore the topic is moot.

    allah is the lawgiver.

      Greetings @Muslimtruthrevealed

With all due respect, did you actually 'read' and 'consider' what I posted? Personally, I dont argue translations, Im sorry.

      Yes, you stated...

Allah continues to address the Men who still insist on 'slipping' by with 'exchanging' and changing their wife or wives for others.....amazing Allah knows Men are lustful and rebellious

It is not lawful for you (to marry more) women after this, NOR TO CHANGE THEM FOR (OTHER) WIVES, even though their beauty attract you, except any thy right hand should possess (as handmaidens). and Allah doth watch over all things.

You inferred 3352 is applicable to believers (it is not) and only specific prohibitions applicable to the Prophet.

Did you read 423 specific general prohibitions applicable to all not to combine between the two sisters?

Therefore, marry women with mutual consent except those prohibited including two sisters at the same time.

The above is clear and straight forward, no need to argue translations.

Actually anyone who suggests that the quran DOES NOT prohibit polygamy or multiple wives has NOT read or studied the Quran properly.

Those to whom We have sent the Book study it as it should be studied. They are the ones that believe therein. Those who reject faith therein,- the loss is their own.

          La yahillu laka

laKA is a 2nd person pronoun and reference meaning YOU, the individual who is actually present reading the ayah.....

Thus its speaking to a behavior (practice) that is prevalent now....

The Quran is NOT just about and for Muhammed,as

We have not instructed the (Prophet) in Poetry, NOR IS IT MEANT FOR HIM / ma yanbaghee . this is no less than a Message and a Qur'an making things clear.

The Quran is for human beings who are alive and living now in this life....

That it may give admonition to any (who are) alive / kana hayyan , and that the charge may be proved against those who reject (Truth).

salam muslimtruthrevealed. do you have a verse from the quran that says a a particular number of wives is prohibited? i am sure you do not. how do you make haram that which allah has made jaiz? or is that the best you can do, making weak statements?

            allah is the lawgiver.

NO, don't pluck a sentence out of context and read the sentences prior which explains who "women after this" are...

3350-52 O Prophet! Verily, We have made lawful to you your wives, to whom you have paid their Mahr (bridal gift/money), and those whom your right hand possesses - whom All?h has given to you, and the daughters of your 'Ammat (paternal uncles) and the daughters of your 'Amm (paternal aunts) and the daughters of your Kh?lat (maternal uncles) and the daughters of your Kh?l (maternal aunts) who migrated with you, and a believing woman if she offers herself to the Prophet, and the Prophet wishes to marry her; a privilege for you only, not for the the believers. Indeed We know what We have enjoined upon them about their wives and those whom their right hands possess, - in order that there should be no difficulty on you. And All?h is Ever Oft?Forgiving, Most Merciful. You can postpone whom you will of them, and you may receive whom you will. And whomsoever you desire of those whom you have set aside, it is no sin on you, that is better that they may be comforted and not grieved, and may all be pleased with what you give them. All?h knows what is in your hearts. And All?h is Ever All?Knowing, Most Forbearing. It is not lawful for you women after this, nor to change them for other wives even though their beauty attracts you, except those whom your right hand possesses. And All?h is Ever a Watcher over all things.

                  Assalaam Alaikum @Nun de plume

We are NOT on the same page...your off point....

baadu / after this is referring to the 'decree that ends 'excesses' in regards to women in Sura 3337....and

in the reference to the 'exclusive' right of the Messenger to marry women of his choosing

O those who believe in the Prophet! ....ANY BELIEVING WOMAN WHO DEDICATES HER SOUL TO THE PROPHET IF THE PROPHET WISHES TO WED HER;- THIS ONLY FOR YOU, AND NOT FOR (You) THE BELIEVERS / waimraatan muminatan in wahabat nafsaha lilnnabiyyi in arada alnnabiyyu an yastankihaha/ khalisatan/ laka min dooni almumineena

Unfortunately, the English translation does NOT capture and reflect the context and meanings of the Arabic constructs.

salam muslimtruthrevealed. allah does not play word games. when allah says something is forbidden, it is clear. do not play word games. khanzeer harramun aleyka, is clear, pig meat is forbidden. this is how allah is very clear.

allah never says, zawj althani harramun aleyka, nor does he say zawj althalatha harramun aleyka. in order to reach your conclusion that a second or third or any other number is prohibited, you will have to produce a verse like that. there is no such verse.

to prohibit by any device that which allah makes jaiz, is prohibited and punished most severely by allah. why would you risk such severe punishment?

                    allah is the lawgiver.

                      Assalaam Alaikum

Im NOT concerned about your 'veil' threats to prevent myself and others from the guidance and truth of Allah.

Sura Nisa 43 is NOT referring to the 'number of wives' one can marry.

Allah is telling Men, NOT to take the Blessing of marriage as an invitation to 'act' upon your desires of lust and oppression.

You are free to showme what 'word games' I have 'played'.

The truth (is) from ALLAH alone; so be not of those who doubt.

If any one disputes in this matter with you, after knowledge had s come to you, say. ? come! Let us gather together,-- our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves. then let us earnestly pray, and CALL THE CURSE OF ALLAH ON THOSE WHO LIE!?

But if they turn back , Allah has full knowledge of those who do mischief.

                      I await your response.

                        Assalaam Alaikum @Al Araf....

It seems again that you 'refuse' to accept the ayah Sura 3337, which clearly gives the 'decree' of ONE single wife, period.

                        Also Sura 43 ....

Wain khiftum alla tuqsitoo fee alyatama fa VERBAL SENTENCE >>> inkihoo ADVERBAL MODIFIERS >>> MA TABA lakum minna <<< GENITIVE >>> alnnisai ADJECTIVES >>> mathna wathulatha warubaAAa <<< fain khiftum alla taAAdiloo fa ADJECTIVE Subject (Al Nisa) >>>> wahidatan <<< aw ma malakat aymanukum thalika adna alla taAAooloo

wahiditan (tarmubutah & tanwin, adjective to the feminine noun (Al Nisai ) means ONE female indefinitely

                        and this one....

MARRY THOSE AMONG YOU WHO ARE SINGLE, and the virtuous ones among yourselves, male or FEMALE. if they are in poverty, Allah will give them means out of His grace. for Allah encompasseth all, and he knoweth all things.

I have shown that your statement

in order to reach your conclusion that a second or third or any other number is prohibited, you will have to produce a verse like that. there is no such verse.

...... is primarily an 'emotional' statement and NOT based upon any serious understanding of the ayahs.

Please address the ayahs and show evidence that I have 'played games' with the words.

salam muslimthreadrevealed. you are inventing lies.

3337 has to do with marrying the wives of adopted sons. your interpretation is utter nonsense. there is no decree regarding one wife in that verse.

43 has to do with marrying orphans, and it says a man may marry two or three or four. the subject is orphans, and it permits marrying more than one. it says if you fear and that is the crux of the sentence, supposing the person does not fear, then your statement becomes void. again this has to do with orphans, and orphans only. you cannot take what allah says about orphans and claim this is for all women. regardless the permission for more than one wife is absolutely clear in this verse. for you to claim otherwise is a lie.

2432 has to do with marrying single women, in other words a woman married to someone else, or a woman has not received a talaq is prohibited. again nothing to do with single wife.

your post is complete nonsense. do not bother to respond any further. i reject your nonsense out of hand completely.

                          allah is the lawgiver.

A little clarification. The verse does not say "a man may marry". Rather it is a command to the society as a whole to arrange the marriages of widows, in twos, threes, fours. For the society this has been declared "which is taba lakum". Increased number of widows remaining without marriage will certainly result in nonesense activities, for this reason it is Taba for the society to arrange marriage of widows.

                              Salaams Mazhar,

                              I remember Br. Layth and a few other people used to deny polygamy, that it exists in the quran, until he came across;

423 Your mothers, and your daughters, ............................ and that you combine between the two sisters, except what had preceded, that God was/is forgiving, merciful.

That you can't keep two sisters at the same time!

                              2432
Marry those among you who have are single, or the virtuous ones among yourselves, male servants or maid servants if they are in poverty, Allah will give them means out of His grace for Allah encompassed all, and he knoweth all things.

This ayah is I think talking about those of us who have been made single or are single but are not well off and are actually below you financially- and that Allah will give them means out of his grace.

                              Page 137 of lanes;

It?s not saying men can't take on polygamy, does it?

Dd you know hindu women can't marry when they become widowed , there are hundredes of millions of these single women in India and the men who are well off can help themselves to these women when ever they choose to without marrying them???

"Ankehoo" is a command to the well off segment of the society to arrange for the marriages of non married persons and their home servants who cannot afford the expenses of marriage, and in the next verse is adice for those who are poor and can't meet the expenses or find spouse for that reason. When we say without referring to command aspect of the word "marry", it may not give the proper perception infolded in the word.

The case of leaving more than one widow in the ayas about inheritance is not considered. ?Any explanation? ?And what to do in case of more than one widow?

"Ankehoo" is a command to the well off segment of the society to arrange for the marriages of non married persons and their home servants who cannot afford the expenses of marriage, and in the next verse is adice for those who are poor and can't meet the expenses or find spouse for that reason.

Is that with their consent or without their consent? And where does it talk about getting their consent.

Obviously if the ayah was about your-self you don't need consent from yourself!

You know you cannot forcibly marry people!

Lastly please be wise as to show us the meaning you are proposing in any credible dictionary to support your Ankehoo meaning.

                                    Thanks Br.

This isn't my translation but doesn't it answer your query?

In what your wives leave, your share is a half, if they leave no child; but if they leave a child, ye get a fourth; after payment of legacies and debts. In what ye leave, their share is a fourth, if ye leave no child; but if ye leave a child, they get an eighth; after payment of legacies and debts. If the man or woman whose inheritance is in question, has left neither ascendants nor descendants, but has left a brother or a sister, each one of the two gets a sixth; but if more than two, they share in a third; after payment of legacies and debts; so that no loss is caused (to any one). Thus is it ordained by Allah; and Allah is All-knowing, Most Forbearing.

Without going too deep, doesn't the plurality of the wives mean anything?

                                      Salaam.

The plurality of (wives) in this verse goes with the plurality of "you", so it is insignificant.

salam muslimthreadrevealed. you are inventing lies.

                                          Assalaam Alaikum @Al Araf

Its quite obvious that you are not intellectually equipped and/or lack emotional maturity to engage in this discussion.

Im sorry I will refrain from responding to your comments.
