Ahmad,
I think this is going to be my last post I don't like having these sorts of empty conversations. If this is a patience issue I hope God gives me some more.
Look at the reasons for the dark color of African mud, and you'll realize that it's because of the iron content in the earth; it doesn't have anything to do with "carbon". Your argument is absurd...
Now you are going to speak on all African mud, i.e. earth? On no continent is all of the soil the same. Please pick up a book on soil science and soil types. You can even find this information online. If you are content with just conjecturing then that is on you. Black earth is black because of a considerable carbon content (in the form of carbon compounds or in the case of Terra Preta do indio, straight charcoal carbon) which gives the soil its black color. Have you ever even watched a movies set in Africa? Even by watching movies you can often see that very common red clay tropical soil found in many parts of Africa. You find it in the subtropic south and even in the tropics of the Americas. The red color is created by the iron content. Those characteristic red clayey soils have signficant iron contents which is what gives them the red color. http//www.thefreedictionary.com/red+clay
Listen, if you don't know something, don't speak on it. That is better and more just.
Also if Adam was made from black mud, more than just his skin would be black. So would his tongue, the white of his eyes, his teeth, his blood and everything else that God put in him by making him from black clay. So do you think that Adam was the color black inside and out? Cuz you have to believe that if you think the color of the clay gave Adam his color. I told you why I think Adam was black (well I really don't believe in a first man being called Adam. But I do believe that the orignal breed of the race of mankind was black. ANd then God changed our colors and our features through environmental factors and breeding).

Are you serious, Anwar? -\ Please stop this foolishness, brother. You don't know what you're talking about. Al-Hamdulillah, I've had a chance to thoroughly study several aspects of geology, and black mud is ABSOLUTELY NOT formed due to carbon content. STOP LYING! It is formed due to the iron content in the soil, resulting in it darkening. Iron forms red and yellow crystals in the soil because of it's fusing with oxygen particles, and once organic matter starts to decompose, based on the IRON CONTENT, it forms black humus, and black mineral deposits are formed from manganese.
Soil is filled with living organisms (i.e. plants and animals) and dead organic matter. When these decompose, it makes the soil dark (or BLACK). This black color, based on the iron content, makes the soil more fertile, as was the case with African soil at the time of Adam's lifetime, which is evident by the growth of all the earth's plants and animals during that time... Look at this website on the subject

Also if Adam was made from black mud, more than just his skin would be black. So would his tongue, the white of his eyes, his teeth, his blood and everything else that God put in him by making him from black clay.
This is not even worth commenting on... )

Thanks for the info on manganese from basalt. But even your links says
Brown to black (surface horizon)
accumulation of organic matter (OM), humus
low temperature, high annual precipitation amounts, soils high in soil moisture, and/or litter from coniferous trees favor an accumulation of OM
So if you've thoroughly studied several aspects of geology How come you don't know what humus and organic matter are?
Do you know what organic matter is? Carbon
"Measurements of organic matter generally measure only organic compounds or carbon, and so are only an approximation of the level of once-living or decomposed matter."
(taken from wikipedia but you can find this in many other places)
So according to the site you just posted the black color is due either to CARBON compounds (organic matter) or basalt (which I believe is a volanic rock and is actually a common soil amendment).
So are you telling me that you read all that for nothing? Humus and organic matter = CARBON
Stop acting like you know, please and read what you post more carefully.
Godbless,
AnwarI'm actually a gardener so I've known this stuff for a long time of studying how to make soil better.
-
Peace,
Did you just cite that book to look intelligent. Talk about overboard.
The color of the soil has nothing to do with infrared, the magnetic field or any sort of remote "sensing." Why don't you go ahead and site a physics and geospatial book to talk about wnter temperatures and summer temperatures. I mean, citing that book is bordering on the absurd, Ahmad. confused I looked through the preface, the table of contents and through some of those pages with those calculations and still can't figure out why in the world you cited it.
Godbless,
Anwar -
Peace Anwar,
So if you've thoroughly studied several aspects of geology How come you don't know what humus and organic matter are?
Do you know what organic matter is? Carbon
This is WRONG! Organic matter CONTAINS carbon, but it is not carbon. To simplify it, organic matter is just a culmination of dead organisms and minerals (i.e. dead and decaying plants and animals) that are, in this case, found in soil. I don't know what Wikipedia definition you were looking up, but from the looks of things, it's not talking about organic compounds in soil; it's probably talking about organic chemistry, a completely different subject than organic biology. We're talking about living organisms and organic matter in soil, used to generate plant and animal life... So, where did you get your Wikipedia definition from? I see you didn't post a link. I'm hoping you didn't just make the whole thing up... )
So according to the site you just posted the black color is due either to CARBON compounds (organic matter) or basalt (which I believe is a volanic rock and is actually a common soil amendment).
So are you telling me that you read all that for nothing? Humus and organic matter = CARBON
Please, Anwar, stop the madness! Humus and organic matter does not equal carbon, not to any extent. Like I said, they contain carbon textures, just like they contain oxygen, nitrogen, and iron textures; but this doesn't make them any of the three... Carbon plays a small role in transforming the color of the soil, less of a role than what iron plays. It's mostly caused by the decaying of organic matter, which "stains" the dirt, making it black or dark brown. Humus has this same effect. Because of the fact that soil is formed in layers, most soil actually has a constant progression in development, going from yellow to red to brown to black. This is because of the IRON content in the dirt. Initial development makes it yellow, and after oxygenation. After increasing buildup of iron, it turns brown and then black. You, as a gardener, should know this. That's why healthy topsoil is dark brown or black, while underlayers are oftentimes red or reddish-yellow...
If you're going to try to prove me wrong on this issue, at least know what you're talking about... And again, I don't even understand your stance against the based conclusion anyway. You agreed that Adam was shaped from black mud, and you also agreed that his skin was black. You don't think these had anything to do with eachother? ) Your insistence that Adam's skin was black from "carbon" is absolutely ridiculous, and it is a statement of utter stupidity. Adam's skin was black from MELANIN. But I guess now you're going to say that melanin is made of carbon, right? RIIIIIIGHT... laugh

Ahmad

I guess I should've been a little more specific... It talks about the contents in soil, which causes fertility and productivity in it, identified by it's black color caused by the decaying of other organisms, as well as it's darkening due to it's "IRON OXIDE CONTENT"... ) It's on page 43...
Peace,
Ahmad
-
Peace,
Ok, after this post I'm done, because when someone doesn't want to admit the truth they will not admit it. No matter what I say.
On page 43, under iron oxide the first sentence says Many of the red soils of the world owe their color to a high iron content.
So you have officially proved that you cannot read or understand what your read..
Secondly when the passage talks about the dark charesteristics of iron rich soil it goes like this Figure 8 shows a false color infrared image from a satelite sensor of an area fo contrasting soils in the West African sahel. The dark grey/black areas are laterite crust, the grey areas are clay outwash and the pale yellow tones are sands. Vegetations again appears bright red.
So, first the obvious color of soils with signfiicant iron oxide is describe as RED. Then the colors using infrared (not the normal range in which we see) satellite sensors are discussed, where laterite crust shows up as grey/black, clay outwashes show up as grey and most importantly vegetations shows up as RED!! So the infrared colors that are obtained using satellite sensors are NOT the actual colors of those types of soils. And it is obvious that vegetation is GREEN to our eyes (even when the pictures are taken from space) and not RED.
IF we look at the section before that which is Organic content we have a clear statement Soils containing a high percentage of organic matter generally have low levels of relflectance and appear quite dark in color, usually dark brown or black. Later the infrared image is discussed which also happens to show up black.
So first let me say that I am really angry right now, because 1. you made me write all that and memorize those sentences cuz they can't be cut and pasted. 2. Because it is now obvious to me that you absolutely have NO reading comprehension skills.
So I'll explain what an organic compound is A chemical compound where carbon is a main (in many cases the main) element.
THe carbon in the carbon compound is what gives a soil full of carbon compounds the dark color. Which is why when you have a lot of decayed organic matter in the soil, the soils becomes darker. It's the carbon, Ahmad, there is no way around that. Stop being ridiculous about this. Bio-intensive famers who grow crops to make composts, call that CARBON farming. Yeah, they are really CARBON COMPOUND farming. But you SHOULD get the point by now. CARBON is the most important aspect of it all.Now since you like the word stupidity, you should understand that right now it applies to you more than ever. I said Adam was made from a carbon based material, which is why the mud was black. I NEVER said Adam was black for that reason. So maybe it's your stupidity for misinterpreting me. Obviously it is melanin that made the original man black, AND NOT the black mud that we were made from. Like I said if Adam was black just because God made him from black mud, everything in and on his body would be black. YOu think that's unintelligent but it's the obvious conclusion. If black mud made the first man's skin black why wouldn't it also make his teeth, the white of his eyes, his blood and all of his flesh black? Stop the kindergarten reasoning, and stop denying the truth.
I'm pretty much done with this. Hopefully you won't post something else totally ridiculous and idiotic. But I'm not counting on that. What I can promise is that I will be writing less and less if I respond to you.
Godbless,
Anwar -
Peace Anwar,
Please stop this foolishness. It's getting really ridiculous, and it's pretty obvious to anyone who has knowledge on this issue that you don't know what you're talking about. Your probably fabricated "copies" from the book I posted prove your arrogance and ignorance. The book clearly explains that the darkening of the soil is due to the oxygenation of the iron particles in the dirt, and it blackens due to the decaying of the organic compounds. It doesn't have anything to do with carbonation... And it definately refutes your previously posted argument that "organic matter = carbon". That is absolutely absurd. Like I said, organic matter CONTAINS carbon, it doesn't EQUAL carbon. Open a book, Anwar...
It's okay to admit when you don't know something, but obviously, this is a big problem for you. I noticed that you completely ignored my comment regarding melanin in Adam's skin, and this is probably because you're unaware of the facts melanin contains many of the key factors linking our skin to mud/clay shaping. Adam having a high concentration of "black mud" in his skin contributed to his high concentration of melanin, which contributed to his dark, black skin... Your ignorance in this issue is proven by you saying
So I'll explain what an organic compound is A chemical compound where carbon is a main (in many cases the main) element.
We're talking about organic matter, not organic compounds. Organic matter contains carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, and plenty of other elements. Carbon is not necessarily a "main element". What causes the distribution of this organic matter, which is in this case referring to soil, is the decaying of plant and animal life. Once these things die, they rot and decay, and they become synthesized by soil population. So, if you really want to consider a "main element" involved in production of organic matter, the main elements would probably be hydrogen and oxygen...
And regardless, back to the topic of discussion, if you feel that the color of the mud Adam was shaped from had absolutely no effect on his physical appearance, then you are being plain foolish. ) The compounds contained in humans (which proves that we do have mud-like skin features) are all present in our SKIN. The mud was shaped according to Adam's physical stature, and is became the product of his SKIN. Therefore, because the mud was black, HIS SKIN WAS BLACK. Is this a hard concept to understand?! But, of course, if the text said that Adam was shaped from white ("abyaad" mud, you would be the biggest advocate trying to prove that Adam had pale, white skin... ) Stop your hypocrisy...
Peace,
Ahmad

Peace,
Okay, now I fabricated what i copied and posted? So that does mean that you didn't really read the page that YOU yourself posted. Because if you had, you wouldn't be accusing me of PROBABLY having falsified it. Anyone can go double check, if they'd like to see that I have shown integrity in this conversation and YOU have not. But the fact that you can even say this with a straight face takes YOUR credibility away, not mine.
And now you want to talk about carbonation? Carbonation and the amount of organic (carbon based) compounds in soil have nothing to do with each other. And did you just imply that there is melanin (a specific chemical compound found in plants and animals) in the ground? Please show some examples. That's news to me. You mind showing me some info where scientists have found the specific chemical compound MELANIN in the ground?
Sorry to break it to you, but organic matter contains organic compounds. Uh duuhhh!! nope Organic matter is specifically animal, human and plant bodies. All of them are chock full of organic compounds, without which they would not have existed. Listen, every part of the human body has carbon in it. Anything you can char has carbon in it. So I'm not arguing about whether oxygen or hydrogen or nitrogen are abundant and necessary elements in plant and animal life, what I am saying is that carbon is one of those key players as well and is at the core of what makes us alive.
Lastly I find it funny that you have to make me apart of some opposite camp that doesn't even exist. Nowhere does it say Adam was made from white mud, and even if it did that would not necessarily affect his skin color. But who cares about that. This is an imaginary argument that you made up to make me look bad by accusing me of something that I never said about something that does not exist. What lengths will you go to, to avoid admiting some simple truths and possiblities? The Quran says the first human beings were created from black mud. So there's no point in trying to accuse me of something that doesn't even exist. The point here is that God made ALL PARTS of the original man from black mud, NOT just his skin. So if the original man was black because he was made from black mud that means all of the original man has to be black, blood, flesh, eyeballs teeth and all. And that is just ridiculous.
I think your idiocy has shown through for everyone to see by now. You shouldn't even speak of helping Afro-Americans or anyone else, because you need to help yourself. This type of idiocy and lack of thinking can not and will not help anyone. This is not truth. It is idiocy. You have thought through none of this.
But I'm willing to let this issue go and let you live in yoru obtuse ignorance. I am convinced that the world is full of people like you, who think through nothing and base their arguments on feel good points and justify those points and themselves however they can. This is why the world of Islam is so dark and lost and this is why the Western world is so robotic, empty and cold. The more people I talk to the more I am realizing that the world has never been changed by 'the people', but by people who have power and and have a plan. That can be evil or good, comprehensive or narrow, but that depends on the mind of the person wielding the power. It seems to me at this point that all these "reformers" are nothing but poor performers. El Hajj Malik Al-shabazz and other great leaders who came to have faith in the people's ability to follow their own personal path and think correctly and deeply for their own benefit were doomed from the beginning. If it weren't for some type of mass brainwashing I think we'd all be worse off than we are, becuz people refuse to think, let alone think deeply and will justify themselves however they can. You are, unfortunately, a classic example of this.
Godbless,
Anwar -
Anwar,
First of all, you don't know what you're talking about. It's a waste of my time trying to teach you the fundamentals about organic matter and composition. And for the record, you didn't say that carbon is a "player" in the composition of organic materials, you said "organic matter = carbon". That is completely wrong. Trying to deny it and cover up your incorrect words don't make you look any better, especially since your reasoning is all wrong; it just makes you look wrong and prideful, too arrogant to admit your mistake...
Now, on the issue of Adam's blackness, your reasoning is wrong in this department too. I said Adam's SKIN was shaped from this black mud, which is completely reasonable. His teeth, eyes, tongue, and all of those other body parts are INTERNAL... If they "salsaalin min hamaain" didn't have anything to do with the color of Adam's skin, then what was the point of the Qur'an saying that Adam was shaped from black mud? Have you even considered this question at all? And by the way, throwing insults is another clear example of your ignorance and arrogance...
Also, don't throw out the name of El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz in an attempt to make yourself look knowledgeable about black ancestry. It doesn't mean anything. He also promoted the concept of a "Black Adam" based on the black mud he was shaped from, an obviously clear idea that you keep denying.
Organic matter is specifically animal, human and plant bodies.
Ummm... ) If you look back through the thread, you'll notice that THIS IS WHAT I JUST TOLD YOU! Carbon is CONTAINED in organic matter, but that is a HUGE DIFFERENCE from saying that organic matter is carbon. Those are two completely different statements meaning completely different things. So, now you're changing your argument?
And lastly, the concept of the original man ("Adam" is widely known and publicized. He was a black man in the African (or "Nubian" region of the world. Note HIS SKIN WAS BLACK. The Qur'an confirms this by saying that Adam was shaped from black mud. But now, you're saying that this black mud didn't have anything to do with his black skin... ) You still don't understand how ridiculous you sound? Think, Anwar. Adam's skin was BLACK, and his entire exterior body was shaped from BLACK mud. These obviously refer to the same concept of Adam being a black man... But, like I said, your hypocrisy is keeping you from stating the obvious. That's why I said that if the scriptures said that Adam was created from white mud, you'd be the biggest supporter of a White Adam... These concepts are not new, and Brother Al Khidr pointed them out in the other thread about the so-called White Muhammad, in which you tried to defend that concept too. When that didn't work, you changed your arguments about the hadiths mentioning this white Muhammad, and you tried to use the old "when it says white, it doesn't mean white" argument. So, now, since it says Muhammad was made from BLACK mud, you're saying that "black = carbon"... o
Here's the point, Anwar Adam was shaped from BLACK MUD... Now, what parts of him do you think this black mud were used to shape and form? -\ Whether you're talking about modern Arabic language or classical Arabic language, the word "hamaa" has NEVER meant "carbon". Not ever. Get this idea out of your head. It means "black", as in the color black. Whether it was black from carbon content or if God colored it with black ink, IT DOESN'T MATTER. The bottom line is the mud was physically black-colored. So, what parts of Adam was this black-colored mud/clay used to create? Please explain this...
Peace,
Ahmad
-
Peace,
This is what I am saying and what I have been saying this whole time
- Carbon (in it's compound forms which are organic compounds found in all organic matter) is an essenstial element of life, without which life would not exist.
- black mud can be black because of a high CARBON content from organic matter (which is composed of carbon compounds) in rich dark soils.
- the black color in soils with high organic matter is due to the high carbon content to be found within the carbon compounds that compose the organic matter.
- If the original man's skin was black from being created from black mud why not one's teeth, eyes, blood and flesh in general?
- The idea that man was created from a black carbon rich mud (a mud rich in carbon compounds, which are organic compounds, which form organic matter when collected in animals, humans and plants) which was black just for this reasons, seems very correct. Especially since we are made up of such a great deal of carbon compounds, without which we would not be alive. It even makes for sense when we see that hama'in means a black, FETID mud. Fetid things are usually chock full of organic matter and organisms.
- Abyad in Arabic does not mean European white, just "very light skinned". I it would refer to the same color of most "light bright" and "redbone" Afro-Americans. European white is shuqr. That is something that you will not understand until you get more involved in your Arabic education.
- Melanin, which is what makes black people black, brown people brown, tan people tan and white people not see-through, is not in the soil. So if there is no melanin in the soil when God made the original from soil what would have given him his black color? I can tell you. God transformed that black soil into red flesh, white teeth, white eyeballs, nails, white bones, cartelage and deeply melanated skin. He later changed some the color and other characteristics of the first human to create different kinds of human beings.
- If Humans and animals are both fleshy beings, composed of pretty much the same type of tissues, and plants also have enough similar genetics to show that we are all related in some way, it is very likely that God used that black mud to make animals, plants and humans.
Ahmad, or anyone else, If you wanna twist that around, be my guest. i just want to make it crystal clear to anyone truly interested who has been reading these posts. Because Ahmad obviously refused to understand my points and it shows in how he tries to summarize what I say.
That is my stance take it or leave it. Love it or hate it. It really doesn't matter to me what you think at this point Ahmad. You have said enough for me to form an accurate understanding and assessment of your stance, and more.
Godbless,
Anwar -
Peace Anwar,
I disagree with some of what you've posted here, but it's a waste of time to post my disagreements, since we won't agree on these factors anyway. I do, however, have a few questions
- If the original man's skin was black from being created from black mud why not one's teeth, eyes, blood and flesh in general?
These are not aspects dealing with the flesh and skin at all. These are all interior aspects of the body... So, do you believe that Adam's interior completely matched his exterior body?
- Melanin, which is what makes black people black, brown people brown, tan people tan and white people not see-through, is not in the soil. So if there is no melanin in the soil when God made the original from soil what would have given him his black color? I can tell you. God transformed that black soil into red flesh, white teeth, white eyeballs, nails, white bones, cartelage and deeply melanated skin. He later changed some the color and other characteristics of the first human to create different kinds of human beings.
Now, first of all, scientists have found traces of melanin inside soil composition. But that's irrelevant... What is the point of the Qur'an saying that God shaped Adam from black mud instead of "carbonated mud"? Is it logical ro conclude that the black mud/clay had nothing to do with the color of Adam's black skin? Is this reasonable? To me, it sounds absolutely absurd. But to you and others, it may make perfect sense... But all in all, it seems most logical, if Adam was actually BLACK-SKINNED, for the black clay to play a part in this exterior complexion being black...
Peace,
Ahmad
-
These are not aspects dealing with the flesh and skin at all. These are all interior aspects of the body... So, do you believe that Adam's interior completely matched his exterior body?
When an object from black clay is made, its interior and exterior are made from the same black clay. If the color of the clay colors the exterior it must also color the interior since the interior and the exterior are made of the same black clay.
Therefore, if the first man's interior was not black, then the color of the clay was not left in his interior or on his exterior. Hence the color of the clay becomes irrelevant to the color of the end product that is the human being. Especially since melanin (which is the true reason for the color) is not a component of soil. As for the traces of melanin in the soil, please send me your sources for that. I can see that if that soil was partly made from the decomposition of an animal or plant that contained melanin. But the melanin would be being broken down to its most basic elements like everything else from that dead animal or plant. Therefore the melanin is from animals and not naturally in the soil. But I'd like to see your sources and what exactly those scientists said. Please post the article or the original source.
Also what is carbonated mud? Mud can be black and full of decomposed organic matter. That decomposed organic material will give the mud its black color. But as we saw in the book you cited, basalt (a volcanic rock) can also color the soil black. So the Quran says black, fetid mud because the mud was black and in all likeliness chock full of organic compounds and microorganisms (as fetid things usually are). The more we learn about nature we might be able to figure out what that black mud consisted of (carbon compounds makes all the sense in the world and explains its color and fetidness). Did you see that video I posted where the experiment led to the accumulation of black guck? I'll post it again.
The word carbon did not exist in pre-modern Arabic, nor the word organic. The Quran was not sent to be a chemistry text book (in which case it would have had to invent new terms to explain these things like scientists did). The Quran gives us key information and encouragement to study it and nature(God's creation) in order for us to see how correct the book is. Carbon compounds are essential to life and are found in the soil, and when there are alot of these compounds in the soil, the soil is darkened to a very dark brown or black color.

Peace Anwar,
As for the traces of melanin in the soil, please send me your sources for that. I can see that if that soil was partly made from the decomposition of an animal or plant that contained melanin. But the melanin would be being broken down to its most basic elements like everything else from that dead animal or plant. Therefore the melanin is from animals and not naturally in the soil.
This is what the article I read was stating. The melanin content was from the decomposed plants and animals in the soil. However, this is the same type of mud that was most likely used to shape Adam. Since the product used to form him was called black mud, it may have probably been soil made of recently decomposed organic matter, like decaying plants and animals.
And you don't think this had any effect on Adam's skin color at all?
The word carbon did not exist in pre-modern Arabic, nor the word organic. The Quran was not sent to be a chemistry text book (in which case it would have had to invent new terms to explain these things like scientists did). The Quran gives us key information and encouragement to study it and nature(God's creation) in order for us to see how correct the book is. Carbon compounds are essential to life and are found in the soil, and when there are alot of these compounds in the soil, the soil is darkened to a very dark brown or black color.
First of all, how do you know these words didn't exist in pre-Qur'anic Arabic? Why hasn't anyone else traced this word (hamaa) back to refer to carbon or organic material?
Also, the scriptures specifically use the word "salaal", which refers to dried clay. In shaping anything, from a potter's view, dried clay is used to shape the outside of an object. So, God, being a figurative potter of Adam, shaped his exterior with "black dried clay" (salsaalin min hamaain). Oftentimes, clay can be made from mud, especially in cases of pottery... So, how do you know that God didn't produce this dried clay from the soil of the earth, and then use this black clay to form Adam's exterior?
By the way, thanks for the video....
Peace,
Ahmad

Any particular reason you're going after this? Because someone said the final prophet was white and then know you know he was neither black or white? Surely you do know that
I've got a different translation of 'salsalin min hamain' as 'sounding clay, out of dark slime'.
I'm only posting this because a certain individual's posting there is an interesting read.

How do you know Muhammad was neither black nor white? What was he? The fact is the ideologies regarding him being white (or not black) were based on racist views of the writers during that time period, which is why it not only says that he's not black, but it says anyone who calls him "black" should be KILLED! In these hadith scripts, there's a clear separation between black people and white people - white people are allegedly destined for heaven, and black people are allegedly destined for hell...
Now, the reason I insist that the black clay had something to do with his skin color is because Adam was a black man. The original civilizations were located in regions of northern and western Africa, which means that Adam was African, as were his decendants. And, as I'm sure you're aware, the original African people were BLACK. Therefore, Adam was a black man, plain and simple... Now, since the Qur'an specifies that Adam was shaped from "black mud", it's logical to assume that this black product had something to do with his black skin color.
I've got a different translation of 'salsalin min hamain' as 'sounding clay, out of dark slime'.
The word "salsaal" has nothing to do with slime, first of all. And also, the word "hamaa" means BLACK. This is why all the Qur'anic translators (except for the few who refuse to acknowledge the truth) translated it as black mud or clay. Saying "dark slime" is not accurate. The literal translation of "salsaalin min hamaain" is hardened black clay, and clay is used to mold and shape an object, especially it's exterior, since the interior can be filled with a different substance. This is why, in Judaism, God is often referred to as a "great potter" who shaped Adam like a human potter would shape a vessel. This implies that Adam's body was shaped with this black clay, and then it was filled with different components like bones, blood, a heart, and brain, etc. In either case, the color of the clay had a definate effect on the color of Adam's skin.
Peace,
Ahmad
