    Regards

    Peace,

Here how the author comments on the verse you quoted above (which I agree with his interpretation)

    Quote

But because of their breach of their Covenant, We cursed them, and made their hearts grow hard They change the words from their (right) places and forget a good part of the Message that was sent them, nor wilt thou cease to find them - barring a few - ever bent on (new) deceits But forgive them, and overlook (their misdeeds) For God loveth those who are kind. (Surah 5, Maida, verse 13)

The phrase "They change the words from their (right) places" could mean that they tampered with the text of the Book. However, the second possibility, that the true meaning was distorted, not the text itself, (see also Surah 5, Ma'idah, verse 44) will have to be given preference in the light of the wider context (see above) which clearly shows that

-The unchanged Torah was with the Jews of Muhammad's (p.b.u.h) time. (Surah 5, Al Ma 'idah, verses 43,6

-It was referred to by the Prophet in matters of dispute. (Surah 3, Ali 'Imran, verse 93)

In Surah 2, Al Baqarah, verses 75-79 (in verse 75 Jews are listening to the Quran being recited); Surah 4, Al Nisa, verse 46;, the Jews are accused of changing, writing down wrongly, what Muhammad (p.b.u.h) said. After checking all these references it becomes clear that the Torah remained unchanged!

      Peace Belal,

That's fair that we're making this strictly about the article... handshake

The problem with the article is it's a Christian promotional website. So, every reference it makes to the Qur'aan is mentioned from a Christianized perspective. This presents a problem, since the Qur'aan never directly talks about Christians at all (at least not in a positive light). The Torah has been proven to have been preserved by the Jewish rabbis and scholars, and this isn't really debatable. However, the preservation of the Christian scriptures don't play a part in Islaam... The Qur'aan references the "Injiyl" as the scripture of the "nasara", or Nazarenes. And, contrary to what this article promotes, Nazarenes and Christians are not the same, and the two groups do NOT adhere to the same scriptures. In fact, most Nazarenes adamantly believe that the entire new testament is a forgery (some believe in the authenticity of the writings of Matthew, while rejecting the other writings). Therefore, since the Qur'aan mentions the Nazarenes as the recipients of the "Injiyl", then the Injiyl must be different from the Biblical new testament. From a Nazarene perspective, the new testament's preservation is irrelevant, since none of it actually came from God anyway...

      Peace,

      Ahmad

that is a silly article. I get the sense that the author treats the Bible as if it was a single book. The bible is a collection of books and at least 40 distinct writers can be observed through its pages.

"The author lovingly pleads with you to pray to God to reveal to you who Jesus really is!"

              Arabic Christians really scare me.

                Peace all,
I will promptly reply but after reading more comments...I want to draw your attention to the author Logic when saying

Muslims and Christians believe in the infallibility of the original Biblical manuscripts. But many adherents of Islam think that today's Bible has undergone substantial changes with regard to its early manuscripts and their translated versions. However, the Quran does not support this claim unanimously! In fact it makes it clear that the Bible, known as the Torah and the Injil, was found reliable in Muhammad's (p.b.u.h) time, the sixth century. To prove that the twentieth century Bible is still authentic it only has to be compared with a copy from the sixth century.

                Peace

Even if we accept it was not distorted at the time of revelation of the Quran. What is the evidence that it was not distorted later? What is the reason for so many versions of bible? Are all of them true ?

Again, like I previously mentioned, this is FALSE. The author of that article bases his views on the idea that the "Injiyl" is the "new testament", which is totally wrong. When it refers to the scriptures of the people, the Qur'aan implies that the Jews study the Torah, while the Nazarenes study the Injiyl. In fact, it even states that Jews and Nazarenes follow the "same book", and this is because the Nazarenes are still bound by the Torah... Christians are never mentioned (positively) in the Qur'aan, and therefore, the collection of Christian scriptures is not accepted as revealed or inspired scripture by the Qur'aan. In other words, the Injiyl and the "new testament" are two completely different writings...

The Christian Bible canon may have also been preserved during the time of Muhammad, as have many of their ideologies. However, all of these sources have been refuted in the Qur'aan (i.e. virgin birth, divinity of Jesus, Trinitarian godhead, atonement for sins, etc.)...

                                Peace,

                                Ahmad

Contrary to popular opinion, sura 19 of the Qur'aan does not support the idea of the virgin birth. This is a preconceived notion that was derived from a knowledge of Christianity... If you'd never heard of the idea regarding a virgin birth, and you'd never been confronted with the Christian idea of the "Virgin Mary", and the first story you'd ever heard about Mary or Jesus was from the Qur'aan, would you interpret sura 19 as saying that Jesus had no father? Or would you interpret it as saying that he was a human like all other humans, conceived the same way all humans are conceived?

The Quran is closer to the NT than the OT.

                                        -Good works
                                        -Charity
                                        -No burnt offerings
                                        -Prayer
                                        -Afterlife
                                        -Jesus the Messiah
                                        -No death penalties

Islam is a form of adjusted Christianity!
