Is a prophet just a normal person/human being or is he a 'super-human being' ?
-
I dont know if this have been posted before. I tried the search button but could not find anything related to my question.
The sectarians always refer to the prophets as they are some sort of 'super-humans' or among an elite of people which ordinary people like you and me would never be among.
As far as I could read from the quran, the prophets and messengers were all ''normal people'' like you and I, they were just rightly guided (which everyone can be by the Grace of our Lord).
But here the sunnis object, they say ''if Muhammad was just a normal man like you, than why didnt Allah choosed you to dilever the quran?'' So that should proove that prophets, especially Muhammad was much more better than anyother human being.
Can someone elaborate on that please, it would be nice with some quranic verses regarding the status of the prophets as well.
God bless you all.

"In him is exemplary behaviour". (not hadith).
That is also said about Abraham.
And Jesus was a word from God.This is how you should think about them.
Peace.

Yes you are right in that God only sends human messengers. They are not super human and are just ordinary human beings.
2520 We have not sent before you any messengers except that they ate the food and walked in the market places. We have made some of you as a trial for others to see if you will have patience. Your Lord was ever seeing.
1793 "Or that you have a luxurious mansion, or that you can ascend into the heavens. We will not acknowledge your ascension unless you bring for us a book that we can study." Say, "Glory be to my Lord. Am I anything other than a human messenger!"
The difference is that Prophets and messengers receive a clear revelation(scripture or message ) from God. Plus they are examples (role models) of how we as monotheists should behave. Look at Abraham for instance...
604 There has been a good example set for you by Abraham and those with him, when they said to their people "We are innocent from you and what you serve besides God. We have rejected you, and it appears that there shall be animosity and hatred between us and you until you acknowledge God alone." Except for the saying of Abraham to his father "I will ask forgiveness for you, but I do not possess any power to protect you from God." "Our Lord, we have put our trust in You, and we turn to You, and to You is the final destiny."
But they are still human. Even prophets and messengers make mistakes. Of course some sunnis would argue if he was soo ordinary why is it that you are not a prophet or a messenger. Just know that when they say things like this it is because they idolized Muhammad. The Quran quite clearly says he is a human being who ate , slept , walked in market places. He's just a man who received a message and authorization from God to deliver a scripture. He was not super human in any form or fashion and he made mistakes. Look at Sura 80 for example when God was displeased with Muhammad for ignoring a man who wanted guidance and giving attention to another one who wasn't interested.
801 He frowned and turned away.
802 When the blind one came to him.
803 What makes you know, perhaps he is seeking to purify?
804 Or to remember, so the remembrance will benefit him?
805 As for the one who was conceited;
806 To him you attended.
807 Why does it concern you that he does not want to purify?
808 As for the one who came to you seeking.
809 While he was fearful.
8010 You were too preoccupied for him.Peace,
Kevin.

801 He frowned and turned away.
802 When the blind one came to him.The hidden subject of a third person perfect verb does not relate to another subesquent object pronoun of a second verb. The Subject of this verb is not the person to whom the Blind Man visited. Subject of verb is to be traced in the earlier text even if one has to move backwards to the first sentence of the text. It is the simplest rule of Arabic to which majority of the translators remained blind to honour conjectural gossip of hadith writers.
If this is understood, what was inferred before this in your para would become meaningless.

The Messengers of Allah, the Exalted are human beings who were sent to human beings. The difference is that they are the people who were chosen and granted distinction and sanctity over all other human beings by Allah, the Exalted. Believing in Allah alone is meaningless and is of no avail. The difference is that you can qualify and become eligible to enter the Paradise only if you believed in all of them. That is the difference.
Let one risk himself whoever wishes to equate himself with those Elevated and Chosen Ones.

Why is it meaningless to believe in God alone? And you said we have to believe in them ALL to enter paradise, does that mean that you HAVE to believe in Muhammad in order to enter paradise (which means that its only muslims who can enter paradise, not christians, jews, hindus, atheists etc.)

Paradise is made a place of residence ONLY for these people, in time and space
Anyone not fulfilling this condition, till the point in time of death, despite being aware of it is destined to Hell-Prison, assuredly.

You can't be serious. Did you get carried away in hyperbole?
15 You alone we serve, and You alone we seek for help.
Who are all the prophets/messengers? Given that most are unknown, how can one believe in something of which they have no knowledge? Is that wise, or following the Guidance?
1736 And do not uphold what you have no knowledge of. For the hearing, eyesight, and heart, all these you are responsible for.
Of those we have knowledge of, we should follow their message. By following the message of one, we follow the message of all. We should deny neither message nor messenger.
4213 He has decreed for you the same system He ordained for Noah, and what We inspired to you, and what We ordained for Abraham, Moses, and Jesus "You shall uphold this system, and do not divide in it." Intolerable for the polytheists is what you invite them towards. GOD chooses for Himself whoever He wills; He guides to Himself those who repent.
262 Surely those who believe; and those who are Jewish, and the Nazarenes, and the Sabians, whoever of them believes in GOD and the Last Day and does good works; they will have their recompense with their Lord, and there is no fear upon them, nor will they grieve.

No it is rather that you believe in the Message in which they bring. You are focusing too much on the Messenger's themselves. The Messengers cannot avail us from anything but it is rather the MESSAGE THAT THEY BRING. Those who follow God alone and submit to his will know this and they willingly submit to the MESSAGE. Believing in God alone means submitting to his will and believing in the message which basically is summed up into three basic teachings....
1)We worship God and God alone
2)We do not associate partners with him
3)Righteous DeedsSo belief in God alone is the only thing we really need.
4010 Those who had rejected will be told "God's abhorrence towards you is greater than your abhorrence towards yourselves, for you were invited to acknowledge, but you chose to reject."
4011 They will say, "Our Lord, You have made us die twice, and You have given us life twice. Now we have confessed our sins. Is there any way out of this path?"
4012 This is because when God Alone was mentioned, you rejected, but when partners were associated with Him, you acknowledged. Therefore, the judgment is for God, the Most High, the Most Great.

Kevin

Out of context.
See this before becoming advocate for Jews.
It helps all if you provide translations or at least Ayat source in English. Regardless...
238 We said "Descend from it all of you, so when the guidance comes from Me, then whoever follows My guidance, they will have nothing to fear, nor will they grieve."
262 Surely those who believe; and those who are Jewish, and the Nazarenes, and the Sabians, whoever of them believes in God and the Last Day and does good works; they will have their recompense with their Lord, and there is no fear upon them, nor will they grieve.
2112 No; whoever submits himself to God, while doing good, he will have his recompense with his Lord. There will be no fear over them, nor will they grieve.
569 Surely those who believe; and those who are Jewish, and the Sabians, and the Nazarenes, whoever of them believes in God and the Last Day and does good works; then they will have nothing to fear nor will they grieve.
I advocate (and invite to) monotheism--not Islam, not Christianity, not Judaism, not ANY so-called-religion. ALL monotheists are my brothers and sisters. Those who do not currently follow monotheism may later follow monotheism and are not to be mistreated nor disrespected nor otherwise insulted.
2135 And they said "Be Jewish or Nazarenes so that you may be guided!" Say "No, rather the creed of Abraham, monotheism; for he was not of the polytheists."
395 Say "GOD bears truth. Follow the creed of Abraham, monotheism, and he was not of the polytheists."
4125 And who is better in the system than the one who submits himself to GOD, and he is a good doer, and he follows the creed of Abraham in monotheism? And GOD took Abraham as a friend.
679 "I shall turn my face to the One who initiated the heavens and the earth, in monotheism, and I am not of the polytheists."
10105 And set your face to the system of monotheism, and do not be of the polytheists.
16123 Then We inspired to you "You shall follow the creed of Abraham, monotheism, and he was not of the polytheists."
3030 So establish yourself to the system of monotheism. It is the inclination that GOD has nurtured the people on. There is no changing in the creation of GOD. Such is the pure system, but most of the people do not know.
Be careful with hate and generalization. It is best to eschew them.
ALLAH knows best.

I am surprised that so much problem can be found between believing in the message and believin in the messenger.
The messenger is just a messenger, he is not God, but he es not a mere errand boy. If all of us were close to God, God would not need nor we would to be sent a messenger. We would get the message directly. We do get something directly, like the urge to know, to love, to believe, but we are not qualified to say to people believe all of this, this is from God. So a messenger of God is not somebody sho is paid some money and brings a leter snd doesn't what is in it. Quite the opposite, he has the task of making that message plain and understandable, to speak like a human to humans. A messenger is what we all should try to be whever we deal with other people and very seldom y ever manage to do that.
To believe in all menssengers. Yes. Is the least we can do. If God sends them to us human so we can be close to Him, is the least we can do. It doesn't matter we do not know their names all. We know they are all one in their mission and in their commitment to God.
Not to have in mind the messengers and say that one revers the message is like saying that we love the person, but his or her mother, who brought him or her to us means nothing. Of course a person is from God, exists because God has so disposed, but doesn't pop just like that, somebody brings her or him amongst us.
Like God, says in 4.3 ittaqw l arham, so also follow the Prophets. Even if it is only for our own sake, the same as we revere our mothers.

Guidance comes through the Messenger of Allah, and for the posterity it is a written verbal message.
262 is loosly translated, and has changed the message of Allah. An information about the past time line is converted to present day happenings.
It is a fact that, those people who are identified/recognized/referenced as having consciously and willingly accepted/believed , and those who reverted to identity of Jews, and the Nisaa'ra; and the Sai'been; any one who had consciously accepted belief in Allah and the Last Day; and he performed/acted as a righteous person for this reason/as its consequence, the reward of them is in wait/prepared for them from their Sustainer Lord. Moreover, neither fear shall overshadow/haunt upon them; and nor shall they have a cause for grieve.Since the Revelation of Qur'aan and post revelation time line they are asked
Moreover, you people consciously accept that/Grand Qur'aan which I have since communicated. It certifies/sanctifies that which is with you people . Take caution that you should not be the first deniers about it/Qur'aan.

No i was talking about the universal message of salvation. These are the basics of the religion of Abraham; that we worship God and God alone, that we do not associate partners with him and that we do righteous deeds. Where did I ever say anything about Pharaoh, Moses and Aaron???? You are talking about something completely different.
Nobody is saying not to believe in the Messengers. I'm only trying to highlight the fact that YOU ARE PUTTING TOO MUCH EMPHASIS ON THE MESSENGERS THEMSELVES. You are only to focus mainly on the MESSAGE WHICH THE MESSENGERS BRING and NOT the MESSENGERS THEMSELVES. You sound like a person who is infatuated with the messengers and not so much the message. The messengers cannot help you. It is the MESSAGE that they bring that will help you.

Shalom,
Would there argument change if the Qur'an would have been given to someone else ? No. Lets say, the Qur'an was given to Mr. X instead of Muhammad. Now their argument would be, why Mr. X ? why not you. So you see, this is not an argument. Its what you get when ignorant people open their mouth.
Considering the issues that need to be analysed to understand the choice that God had
- Economic
-Political
-moral
-educational
-social
-mortal
-time
-language
-military
-etc
You can keep adding to that list. There are many factors behind choosing a man and giving him a mission. And Allah's analysis marked Muhammad as the best candidate. It has nothing to do with divinity. If Muhammad was super-human, God is the unnecessary part of his message P

Salvation does not depend on generlizations like the above quote. For Salvation the first and second requiremen is this
-
Believe in Allah, the Exalted and His Messenger Muhammad and all other Messengers sent before him . Believing even Minus one, will make to land straight to hell-prison, assuredly.
-
Believe in Qur'aan and organize life in accordance with its injunctions, do what it commands, refrain what it prohibits.

O those/you, who consciously proclaim to have accepted/become believers, listen; You people consciously incline yourselves to respond for Allah, the Exalted and respond affirmatively for the Messenger when he calls you people towards that-Grand Qur'aan which will give you people lifeGrand Qur'aan-the Guarantor and Sustainer of the living Life

I agree that you must believe in those things but I do not agree that these are fundamentals of universal salvation.
You are forgetting the hundreds of thousands of people who have never even heard of the Quran before. Would God sentence them to hell for not knowing the Quran??? No rather he will judge them by the fundamentals of universal salvation.
2455 God promises those among you who acknowledge and do good works, that He will make them successors on earth, as He made successors of those before them, He will enable for them their system which He has approved for them, and He will substitute security for them in place of fear, that they serve Me and do not associate anything with Me. As for those who reject after that, they are the transgressors.
The basic message of the Quran is that we worship God alone , that we do not associate partners with him and that we do righteous deeds. These are the fundamentals that make us monotheist (worshipers of the one God)
367 Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Nazarene, but he was a monotheist who peacefully surrendered; he was not of those who set up partners.
6161 Say, "My Lord has guided me to a Straight Path. An upright system, the creed of Abraham the monotheist; he was not from those who set up partners."
16120 Abraham was a nation, devoted to God, a monotheist, and he was not of those who set up partners.
2231 Monotheists to God, not setting up anything with Him. Whosoever sets up partners with God, then it is as if he has fallen from the sky and the birds snatch him or the wind takes him to a place far off.
These three fundamentals are the crux of EVERY MESSAGE FROM EVERY MESSENGER. These are fundamentals by which people who don't have scripture or who are not aware of any will be judge by. Every message basically comes down to worshiping God alone , not associating partners with him and doing righteous deeds. The Quran is rather a book for those who have the means to its text not for those who are not aware of its existence. Since we are aware of the Quran it is binding upon us to submit to all the teachings of the Quran since it is God?s word. A true monotheist will recognize the signs in the Quran and willingly submit to its teachings.
Peace,
Kevin.

We are not concerned about each and every human being nor we know with certainity whether or not the message reached to him. We should remember that even the Last Messenger is on record to have said that he is the Revivalist/Warner/Admonisher for the one to whom Qur'aan has reached..
In the administration of human system of justice a famous principle is "Ignorantia juris non excusat or Ignorantia legis neminem excusat . But the built in assumption in this principle is that the ruling/controlling authority had duly and reasonably informed and warned the people through wide publicity.
But the Supreme Sovereign of the Universes has a flawless system of justice based on absolute mercy. In that system none deserves and is liable to punishment until and unless he is informed and warned and made to know in simple and distinct/vivid words regarding what should he abstain from doing. Allah, the Supreme Judge considers the ignorance and unawareness as a strong defense plea for exoneration and takes upon Himself the responsibility to awaken people from their slumber, ignorance, neglectfulness and warn the humanity, and make them explicitly know, what they are required to abstain from so that the accused people could not take the plea in their self defense that they were not aware or were not made to understand the prohibitions.
The justice par excellence demands that the Supreme Sovereign/The Authority establishes against an accused, beyond a shadow of doubt, that he committed the crime intentionally and willfully despite knowing and being fully aware of the prohibitions and prescribed punishment/consequence.
Superb System of Justice

Brother Mazhar, Of course you dont really care about each and every human otherwise you would not doom the non-muslims to hell simply because they dont believe in the quran or muhammad.
Now you said that one have to believe in muhammad and in the quran. Well personally i believe in the quran but i dont really care about muhammad. if that was his name at all.
But brother, your statements contradict following quranic verse Believers, Jews, Sabaeans and Christians -
whoever believes in God and the Last Day and does what is right -
shall have nothing to fear or regret.
-- Sura 569So the quran says that jews and christians can go to paradise although they do not believe in muhammad. or in the quran.
All the talk about that every non-muslim would go to hell is a sectarian idea.
