Believers, Jews, Sabaeans and Christians -
whoever believes in God and the Last Day and does what is right -
shall have nothing to fear or regret.

Now you said that one have to believe in muhammad and in the quran. Well personally i believe in the quran but i dont really care about muhammad. if that was his name at all.

This seems to be a worst position than being a non believer in Qur'aan. Hell is guaranted to such "believers".

            Maha, salaam

I have the impression you are rebutted and fed up with some attitudes and you are taking that out of your body by purging too much. I understand it, but between making a god of a human being and making him insignificant, there is room for reality and the real significance of prophethood.

The truthful Qur'an spends a lot of ink speaking abbout previous prophets. So prophets are important, prophets are HIS, He sends them. It is like I said in another message, a mother is not Cod, but God chose to make us human through our mothers. Of course there are mothers who may be not so good, but that is not the case of the prophets, because any woman can become a mother, except for disease, and not every person can become prophet just for the asking. It must be a person so conscious of God, so as to submit so completely as to leave aside anything outside his or her mission, and live for that mission. Like a good and submitting mother. We owe respect to our mothers, we owe respect to the prophets of humanity, if we do not respect the messengers of God, it is we who miss something, not them and not God. The same as if we do not respect and show deference to our mothers we are harmed and our own self-esteem, not them. We come from somewhere, we come from God, through our mothers. And if we do not find the straightest way to God by ourselves, God gives us guidance for that, through the prophets.

You cannot separate de message from the messenger. The messenger is not a postman who doesn't know what he brings in his sack, and may bring porn or publicity or invoices or whatever, he doesn't care, nor has to care. A messenger of God, is part of the message, because he speaks in the language of people, God does not speak directly to people, to all people, although He always speaks to us indirectly, but he charges the prophets with doing that. A prophet is not insignificant, is a mother for the message. You cannot dispise or ignore a prophet and value the message in its full and real worth.

One thing I cannot fathom is that having due respect and regard for the prphets, just as we have for our mothers, can be equated or come close to setting up something other than God, astaghfirullah, astghfirullah. It is as if I am going to drink a glass of water and I confuse the glass with the water. We take care of the glasses and drink the water, we do not drink the glass, but we use it and take care of it for our own good, just as we drink the water for our own good.

            Well, sorry for the sermon.

            Salaam

Peace Huruf. I got your point, and thanks for sharing your thoughts. But I did not said that I dont respect Muhammad (if that was his name) All I said I dont care about him, because I never met him and he never met me so obviously he does not care about me either. If the Quran wanted us to care about him, the quran would be full of information about him.

There are many messengers of God, and Muhammad was just one out of millions. Muhammad is not better or more important than any other messenger. I belive that everyone who speaks al haq, is the messenger of God.

But let me tell you the way we can respect the messenger, whether it would be muhammad or any other messenger By believing in their message.

In other words, you and me we are both respecting Muhammad because we believe in his message. Do you get what I mean?

May God bless you and your family

                  Yes I get it.

But, right as you say, there have been many prophets, they were sent to all people. We may know some of them, but we do not know most.

On the other hand the Qur'an tell us that Muhammad is the seal of the prophets. I guess it may be understood in more than one sense and so has been. One way I understand it is that whatever has come to other profets and has past through human hands and is in harmony with the Qur'an is from God, is real authentic prophecy. What cannot receive that seal is not. That Muhammad is the seal also means to me that in this name, Muhammad, ALL PROPHETS ARE honoured and all prophets ONE, all prophets are remembered and respected and their mission acknowledged and none is forgotten. So, to remember or make anything special out of Muhammad, is not precisely that, it is to acknowledge the whole of Prophethood, and the whole of the good servants of God, who sacrificed their lives and egos to serve Humanity, in a sense, as you suggest, we honour all those who serve humanity, even if their existence is utterly forgotten, and reminds us of our brotherhood-sisterhood with all humanity past and present.

Sorry for another sermon, I have days like that. I missed my vocation when I was a catholic. I should have been a priest, but I am afraid of operating-rooms.

                  Salaam

I dont know if this have been posted before. I tried the search button but could not find anything related to my question.

The sectarians always refer to the prophets as they are some sort of 'super-humans' or among an elite of people which ordinary people like you and me would never be among.

As far as I could read from the quran, the prophets and messengers were all ''normal people'' like you and I, they were just rightly guided (which everyone can be by the Grace of our Lord).

But here the sunnis object, they say ''if Muhammad was just a normal man like you, than why didnt Allah choosed you to dilever the quran?'' So that should proove that prophets, especially Muhammad was much more better than anyother human being.

Can someone elaborate on that please, it would be nice with some quranic verses regarding the status of the prophets as well.

                          God bless you all.

The reason why the Sects do that is the authority of the ruler is dependent on the authority of Muhammad. The Sunnah came to give Muhammad divine authority (reserved to God in the Koran) and then transfere that authority to the ruler. They had to emphasize his humanity however to make that transfer. So Muhammad to the sects is human with divine authority, the authority to punish sins and introduce legislation and abrogate the Koran. This suthority can then be transfered to another human like the ruler. Since the Koran gives Muhamad limited authority, no authority can go higher than that since the prophetic authority is the highest authority among humans. The Sunnah came to solve this problem for the Abbasids.

Oh please dont say sorry, dear huruf.

Well it depends on your interpretation of the word 'seal' . I dont think seal means the last.
But you interpret 'seal' to have a very deep meaning, which might also be truth. I dont know.
There are quran alone muslims who question the exsistence of Muhammad, simply because Muhammad in quran is not necessarly a name. Muhammad means 'the praised one' and hence it could maybe be ment as a word and not a name, please look at this page http//www.jihadwatch.org/2008/11/did-muhammad-exist-muslim-prof-isnt-so-sure-outrage-brewing.html

Thats just my words. In my view, everyone who serves the humanity is a messenger of God. Hence Muhammad is no way the last messenger. I really, really liked your example of the love to your mother. The way we show our love to our mothers are by being good daughters to them and likewise the way we show respect to any messenger of God including 'muhammad' is by following their message.

I think we pretty much mean the same thing, just express ourselves in different ways.

May God bless you and your family

No the prophet did not said that. And no Muhammad was not the last messenger of God. And No, his name was maybe not even Muhammad.

The verse is like this ''He is not praised by being father to any of your men, but being the messenger of God and a seal of the prophets''

In other words, having a lot of sons is not the things which makes one person praiseworthy but what makes a person praiseworthy is when he is a messenger of God, which every person can be simply by uttering what God wants.

Now I would kindly ask you to stay out of this debate if the only thing you are able to contribute with is sunni dogmas. I am not searching for sunni answers, since I know them already. What I want is answers from open-minded people who could contributed to this debate, and you are not one of them.

Muhmmadun is subject and abaa (father) is khabar, therefore, if Muhammadun is not a name of person, still it is the subject and it is "the praised one" is not father..of any of your men (or people), but rasula (khabar) Al-lahu and khaatama an-nabiyin (seal of the prophets) (also khabar).

So, whichever way you take it, as proper name, or as denomination for a person in that partiular instance, it is the subject and the thing attributed to him is that he is not a father of any of "your" men but he is messenger of God and seal of the prophets.

                                    Salaam

However, it pleases me, though it might be dismal for Edip with reference to his live thread, that even in above "translation" you called him, the Messenger as praised one not being father but for other reasons.

Yes. So maybe God isnt talking about a particular person, maybe he means general. But even if God refers to the prophet who received the quran, than its not a proof that his name was muhammad.

                                          Peace
