I was reading somebody's post, and came across a comment that I needed to address. I normally don't talk in absolutes, but in the case, I believe its necessary. There was a reply on another topic, where the individual was freaking out, and saying that America will never submit to Islam or the God of Islam. Its clear that this individual is ignorant, but I want to take this a step further.

Islam means submission, and it specifically means submission to God. The person I mentioned above swore to defend America against the God of Islam, and swore that he would never submit. In order to answer his concern, we must first determine the identity of the God of Islam. The following verses tell us something important about God

226 That is because God is the truth, and He gives life to the dead, and He is capable of all things.

2262 That is because God is the truth, and what they call on besides Him is falsehood. And God is the Most High, the Great.

What we see here is that God, as described in the Quran, is essentially the truth. People may argue about God?s other characteristics all day, but this is one characteristic that no reasonable person can deny, because the truth is reality, and anything else is nothing short of a fairy tale. So, if we submit to God we are submitting to the truth and submitting to the truth means that you have submitted to God.

The Quran then advises us not to make any equals to God (the truth) now that we know what he is, and we are given a hint on how not to make equals with God (the truth). Quran, 222. The Quran tells us that we should not uphold anything that we haven?t verified, and that we are responsible for using our senses in order to verify the truth. Quran, 1736.

1736 And do not uphold what you have no knowledge of; for the hearing, eyesight, and hear ? all these you are responsible for.

There are several logical flaws in this. I understand what you are doing and what you are trying, but it can't work like that.
You are saying a=b and, since non-a is not allowed, b is isolated, a singularity and untouchable.

But the premiss "non-a not allowed" is in itself flawed. Truth is not exclusive, as it is "the state of being the case fact the body of real things, events, and facts actuality", something which has not yet been established. Nobody has ever proven any god to be a fact and your variety is only circular I can say god is a fact because I say so. That does not work.

Also, if we say that a=b and non-a is not allowed, outside factors could no longer influence b. Which would mean there is only truth, and opposites such as falsehood or satan could not exist and would thus have no effect.

Another thing if god gives life to the dead, who created the dead?

"He is capable of all things". Can god create a more powerful god than him?

Oh yes, all reasonable persons will deny your claim, as you have not yet proven the "something" you are already attributing a characteristic to. So it all boils down to faith.

It's true that God warns us over and over again not to follow falsehood. Verify all information and use your logic and reasoning to find proof, test it, and then make sure it passes the test.

That is one major reason why Islam attracted me. When doing a science experiment, one will hypothesize, test that hypothesis, gather results, and then determine whether it's actually the truth or not. I always wondered during those creation vs evolution discussions that if it's God who created the universe, why can't it be both? That this is the system that God set for the earth?

It would also explain why determining the beginning of the universe is so difficult. People are looking for the truth through science, which ironically would mean that they're looking for God. Hmm...

So how do we know that God is the truth? He gives many examples of what people say and what people do when they hear the truth.

583 And if they hear what was sent down to the messenger you see their eyes flooding with tears, for what they have known as the truth, they say "Our Lord, we believe, so record us with the witnesses."
584 "And why should we not believe in God and what has come to us of the truth? And we yearn that our Lord admits us with the righteous people."

2256 There is no compulsion in the system; the proper way has been clarified from the wrong way. Whoever rejects evil, and believes in God, indeed he has taken grasp of the strongest hold that will never break. God is Hearer, Knower.

3168 Those who remained and said to their brothers "If they obeyed us they would not have been killed." Say "Then avert death away from yourselves if you are truthful!" (perhaps only the source of truth can bring and avert death?)

487 God, there is no god except He. He will gather you for the Day of Resurrection in which there is no doubt. Who is more truthful a narrative than God?

482 Do they not reflect on the Qur'an? If it was from any other than God they would have found in it many a discrepancy. (Was this a lie? Read the Quran and see if there's any discrepancy. Easy!)

No one can definitively prove the existence of God, because God by the Quranic definition is the creator. As a part of creation, our understanding is limited to ideas and concepts within our Universe. A being that hypothetically created this Universe, existed before this universe, and it wouldn't be bound by any law that controlled all the inhabitants of that universe. Thus, that being can never be understood by us, because ourknowledge doesn't extend beyond its own universe and reality.

I don't understand. What does faith have to do with brain? My point was the same I made above you can't start allocating something which has not been proven to exist with attributes and claim it is the "truth".
I think anyone, regardless of personal characteristics, can need a god in their lives. Many also believe in horoscopes, alien abductions or ghosts, so I think humans have this built-in affinity for the occult or super-natural.

Maybe you are right. What I understand is what you say he is saying ) If you define reality as "truth manifested", why does it follow that god is reality. That is a claim which requires proof. Which is impossible.

So the alternative to the Matrix is reality, which may or may not be created by a creator.
That's all we can say with any level of confidence. If you then claim that there actually is a creator, you then need to substantiate that and demonstrate how, when, why, what..... If we are unsure about any of this we need to suspend judgement until we have more facts.

Likewise their are many truths and all of them can be equally valid - think of the common example about witnesses to an accident who all give varying accounts of what they saw. The reason that there can be many realities is that reality is subjective - we view the world through the lense of our own experiences, prejudices and assumptions. So people may all have different perceptions of the One God and different interpretations of Quranic verses but this may be appropriate to the experiences and guidance for each individual.

Exactly. That's why I call it personal perception. Do you know the perception dilemma? Two people are standing on opposite hills and in the middle is a house. Both people are asked what they see. A blue house. A red house. Both were right because the house was painted one colour on each side.

So even though both were right, each according to their personal perception based on location, we see that the truth requires careful definition and is not to be used lightly.

OK, so how about the opposite? If you ask people whether the moon is made from green cheese, we will get an overwhelming majority say no. If we send a probe and take a sample we have established a fact and the truth the moon is not made of blue cheese. But that is all we have done. The only truth we have established is something the moon is not.
So we need a lot of work before we can confidently say that is it!
BTW a person living in KL will not know snow and might not have a word for it, so your example with snow is better, as I think EVERY tribe has a word for moon )

This is exactly why I don't like Koran quotes as an answer. This tells me nothing of what I wanted to know, what interests me or why I would be asking this or questioning it. It only further confuses the issue of why a god would create a dog and create a human and compare two of his own creations. Does this have anything to do with the reality of a god? No!

I admit, that my title was antagonizing, and that was my intent to gain your attention. It wasn't my intent however, to come across as being the I'm right, and you're wrong guy. It was designed to get people to seriously look at the interesting idea that I came across in my readings.

The truth is that I stand firmly against anyone who claims to have any authority in terms of knowledge, and I in fact don't even believe in organized religion/Islam at all. What I do believe in is God, because I see evidence (not proof) of his existence all around me, and that evidence is enough for me to reasonably believe in him. An atheist may see the same evidence, believe its insufficient to justify belief, and decide to believe that there is no God. Both the atheist and I have one thing in common, we saw the evidence, and we chose what to believe in based on the evidence. Who's belief is more reasonable? The one who chose to believe based on evidence or hints; or the guy who chooses not to believe because he doesn't have the evidence? The lack of evidence in terms of proving God's existence cannot ever reasonably be considered proof that he doesn't exist at all, only that the a decisive answer remains elusive.

I'm not here to argue with anyone, I'm here to learn from everyone. I've developed my theories based on ideas that I've read in the Quran, and based on things that I learned from science. I did my due diligence in terms of developing these theories, but since all human knowledge is based on the knowledge acquired by others, I decided to throw my ideas out there to see if anyone else was capable of taking the next step.

I find it annoying when people's first instinct is to try and prove a theory wrong. I believe its more affective to try and prove something right, and fail after doing so. We forget that we are all human beings who are all prone to error, but that doesn't mean that the theory one of us has propagated is wrong, it may only mean that the theory needs further development or articulation. The reason people have the habit of trying to prove something wrong, rather than trying to prove it right, is because trying to prove something right is more labor intensive. Some people may have perfectly reasoned through a theory in their minds, but may not be able to articulate their reasoning to others, and that's why someone who's better at articulating an idea may be able to further develop that concept.

I have learned so much from so many different sources, Muslims, and non-Muslims alike. I don't agree with everything I learned from each and every source, but I did learn something from almost all of them. The reality is that in pursuit of the truth, you oftentimes find it muddled up in things that aren't the truth, and due diligence will be required in order to separate the truth from falsehood. If we require perfection from our potential sources of information, then our journey towards the truth will take much longer than necessary. Free-thought requires people to entertain all ideas, accept what's true, and to reject what's not.

The fact is that none of us can ever definitively establish what God is, or whether he exists. God has many definitions; we will never be able to establish God's existence without a definitive definition of God, and even if we have it we still won't be able to prove his existence either way. The reason we can never prove his existence is because God, by most definitions, is the creator of everything. Given that God exists and that he created the entirety of existence God must be accepted as a being independent of its creation. Since the entirety of existence, including the laws of physics, were created at the moment of the Big Bang, we can't properly use those same laws of physics to establish the Creator's (God) existence because, God would not be governed by those laws. Essentially, the laws of physics can only be used to determine the validity of a concept whose elements are dependent on the functionality of those laws. Since God by definition is not dependent on anything, nothing can possibly prove or disprove his existence short of himself.

Now that I've cleared this up, this is what I am saying

When I am referencing the Quran, I am necessarily accepting the validity of the Book as God's words in order to make my point, independent of my personal belief. Additionally, if you carefully read what I say, you will notice that the main point I'm trying to make is directed more towards Muslims than towards non-Muslims. The verses that I quoted above demonstrate that God refers to himself in the Quran as the truth. I decided to ask what this means at a deeper level.

The Quran doesn't say that God is only the truth, but it does say that God is "the truth manifested". What I found was that, this claim was not unique to the Quran, but can also be found in the Bible, Torah, and other religious texts. Truth isn't a holy word with a mystical meaning, its a word that enshrines the concept of what's real, and what's not real. My essay argues that if someone doesn't believe in God, yet worships the truth; that person is worshiping the God mentioned in the Quran. Truth is not the entirety of what the Quran says God is, but its the one defining quality of God that every truth seeker can say they do worship.

If a genuine truth seeker is not Muslim, I can almost guarantee that he would willingly state that his God is the truth, and he would consequently believe in the same God that is mentioned in the Quran. We must all be able to admit what we know, and what we do not know. I know what the truth really means, because of what I read in the Quran. I think that those verses are teaching us one important thing that there is only one truth, and that truth is the actual state of being or existence. We may not completely understand reality, but that has no bearing on its composition, because reality is independent of all of us.

From a Quranic perspective a Muslim must not uphold what he can't verify, even if those things are the characteristics of God. Since I know the difference between a truth and a lie, I am responsible as a human being to uphold all those truths that I can personally verify using my ability to reason. As long as I uphold the truth, and stand against falsehood; I am worshiping the only God worthy of being worshiped, the God of truth.
These are the ideas that came to me

If God exists, he is a reality and thus a truth.
If God is the creator, then all truth came from him.
The only God worthy of worship is the God of truth (This is because any God who's not the truth is fiction, thus not worthy of worship)
Just like God, their is only one truth.
Just like God, the truth is all powerful (lies have no power, because they aren't real).
Just like God is all-knowing; there is no knowledge beyond the truth( because lies aren't real).

In conclusion, what I learned from the Quran is this Not to uphold what I can't verify, and that God is the Truth. Regardless of my level of knowledge in terms of what God (the truth) is, I know that as long as I uphold, and only worship the Truth I am worshiping the one true God.

Maybe you are right. What I understand is what you say he is saying If you define reality as "truth manifested", why does it follow that god is reality. That is a claim which requires proof. Which is impossible.

So the alternative to the Matrix is reality, which may or may not be created by a creator.
That's all we can say with any level of confidence. If you then claim that there actually is a creator, you then need to substantiate that and demonstrate how, when, why, what..... If we are unsure about any of this we need to suspend judgement until we have more facts.

I have realized that I don't need to prove anything to anyone. I just want to stimulate thinking, just like this post is doing. I'm a man that can no more prove the existence of God, than you. What I think this idea should teach us is that, we should live our lives worshiping the truth. If God exists, he is independent of us, and thus doesn't need our worship. The Quran says that we must obey God, and by following the truth, I believe that I am following God, even if I didn't get that truth from the Quran?
