    Peace KFC,
    thanks for the vid!

In the case that the theory of the video is correct, it would make the impossibility to follow the fasting timings even greater as now the only time the fast is off is during darkness (not even twilight after sunset). And no valid exceptions (like illness or travelling) given in the quran.

However, I have one question regarding 3637, the verse that is used to define al-leyl/the night in the video

What does 'naslakhu minhu annahar' actually mean? 'We strip from it the day.'
What does this mean? To strip the day off from the it? It=leyl/night.
So, doesn't that mean that the day is first part of the night? Otherwise how can the day be stripped from it?
    What is n-h-r?

If nahar means day, or day light, or flow (as in flow of light), then the flow of (direct sun beams) end when the sun disc is below the horizon, but while it is still twilight.

I'm just thinking aloud. Just wondering what s-l-kh minhu al-n-h-r means. Arabic is supposed to be so very precise.
    Help, anyone?

    Peace

    Hi,

I thought I was the only crazy one here.
Imo layl does not mean night, nahar does not mean daylight and fajr does not mean morning.
But like I said I am a little bit crazy.

    peace

      Zulf,

Nahar basically means "when there is light" ("enabled" light) and the root is from Nur which means light, or actually intensity or heat. The word does not explicitly mean day thus but more like daylight.

Layl does not mean night. This is correct.

Fajr appears to mean dawn, the word morphologically means "to break open" and metaphorically implies on sunrise.

        Be well

I believe fasts in the quran have nothing to do with diets.

peace, in the limited sense no, but diet actualy means lifestyle, so in that regard, i would say it is, as regarding the definitions of fajr and layl, they may well indeed not mean dawn and night, i have not looked in depth into layl

however there is always a context, something often overlooked it seems when seeking an interpretation

So can twilight be thought of as having nahar?
No direct light from the light source. Only indirect light being refracted though atmosphere.

The red character "hu" refers to al-shahr.
That is what we have to abstain.

Bender I have also asked this in the past but no one replied. Every translator has interpreted "HU" as "FIHI".
You are correct that as per this ayat we are to yasum "Al-shahr". We have to find out correct meaning of SAUM as well as Al-shahr.
              peace

                Salaam Novice,

184- ..... and upon those who could
hardly do "It" (=yuteequna"Hu&quot (i.e. ="Fasting" in those counted days above =2/184) ........

185- ..... and whoever witnesses the Month among you
                shall fulfill"It" (=falyasum"Hu&quot (i.e. ="Fasting" in those counted days above =2/184) ........

So I think those two "It" (="Hu&quot thus refer to the same thing (i.e. ="Fasting" in those counted days above =2/184).

                Remain in peace/salaam.

Peace imrankhawaja no confusion in the deen just people being themselves

Moses said to his people, "GOD commands you to sacrifice a heifer." They said, "Are you mocking us?"

which one, show us her color, how old.

Do you expect them to believe as you do, when some of them used to hear the word of GOD,
then distort it, with full understanding thereof, and deliberately? nope

                        peace hawk,

i mean the unending loop of debates between everybody , every sect, every releigion. the rituals are the things in which they differ most,

on other hands i dnt think so rituals will bring you closer from God, its the real submission from inside that bring you close to God, what we need to do we need to be honest and loyal with our lord and with his commandments , what to do what not to do?

and then if somebody do rituals according to whatever faith they have its not a big issue if their innerside is loyal to God...

                        God bless you

what is the purpose of life? what is the purpose of God to create such a massive universe just to make planet earth habitual for us?

what is the purpose of rituals ?

purpose of salat, as far i concern, to make a connection between our creator , talk with him, tell him problems, share things with him , at two edges of day.. atleast..

purpose of zakat, to help others by money as we know everybody in this worldy life always in need of something throughout the life. so what we earn there is a connection of God in due to which we will spend on the people who rely on God but cannot earn for themself due to some weakness, disability or whatevrer reason, that same apply to family frds reletive, travellars.. for a peacful society.. how happpy we feel if somebody give us something from our childhood we attach with someone who bring us sweets...

purpose of hajj as far i think its like a globl meeting for the believers around the world for making plans and spreading love peace and share the things from which they are suffereing, like in muslim african countries there is a problem of clean water but , nobody give a dam about it, there is a problem in some african countries where they cannot even feed themselves properly , clothing issues, education issues, and lot more, but now a days hajj is ritual to visist a place and do some gymnastics and exercises and come back home... duty finished...

the purpse of last ritual(ramadhan) the thread is still going on lets see iin which way the wind will blow,,

apart from purposes these all things are connected to God somehow not in least God is getting advantage , its for us who are getting ourself better by rituals or commands ,

in quran God is saying i am not asking anything from my creation but its me who is provider of everything to everybody..

the three rituals which i try to describe one is personal relationship with creator, second is social third is global, and on fourth one i go for second option of feeding a poor, with the grace of God.. becoz i feel it difficult to keep fast and God dnt want to put anyhardship on human beings bbut they are always very less thankful to God..

                            peace and God bless you

you are correct, our lord is The free of need, and the All Praise-worthy,

all theese things are for our own benefit, god does not need them, but we need them, how much we need them!
all of theese things are for the benefit of mankind, and of ourselves. they are mutualy benefitial for all of mankind.

as for why our lord created us.. all i know for sure is that it is to test us, he gives us many oppurtunities to strive, and to gain a good recompense.

if we do well, we do well for ourselves, and if we do evil, then it is against ourselves.

our lord raises those who strive, and for our deeds is a reward in accordance.

we are here to fulfil our Bond (ad-deen), those who work hard, get better, and those who are neglectfull, do so at there own detriment, our lord shows us some of theese examples in this life too.

Peace, seek help with steadfastness and the connection, it is indeed hard, except for those who are reverant.

Do you expect them to believe as you do, when some of them used to hear the word of GOD,
then distort it, with full understanding thereof, and deliberately? nope

My point is when something is easy and requires no sacrifice there is less
chance of dispute. As with the deen folks are less inclined to dispute about zakat because
it is easier to do. When it comes to salat which requires more sacrifice people are less inclined
to obey hence the debate/excuses about it. Same with fasting many feel that
the sacrifice is too great so excuses abound like what if I'm on the north pole?
Does saum really mean don't eat. eat What does shahr mean? Should the
fast be moved to some other time? The more the sacrifice requires the more
excuses are given until disbelief sets in. That is one of the lessons I take from
                                  2/67-2/75

                                  police

                                    Peace Hawk.

I agree and heed what you say. Let me add the following

                                    241
You shall believe in what I have revealed herein, confirming what you have; do not be the first to reject it. Do not trade away My revelations for a cheap price, and observe Me.

                                    242
Do not confound the truth with falsehood, nor shall you conceal the truth, knowingly.

                                    243
You shall observe the Salat and give the Zakat, and bow down with those who bow down.

                                    244
Do you exhort the people to be righteous, while forgetting yourselves, though you read the scripture? Do you not understand?

                                    245
You shall seek help through steadfastness and the Salat. This is difficult indeed, but not so for the reverent,

                                    246
who believe that they will meet their Lord; that to Him they ultimately return.

To each their understanding and their rights and rites
Do whatevever you wish GOD is aware of everything you( we) do.
Ask the questions by all means but do not dig your heel and follow your own ego.Understanding/questioning is one thing, throwing the bath water with the baby is another.
What does not suit us is what is usually better for us?

                                    GOD bless you.
                                    Peace.

184- ..... and upon those who could
hardly do "It" (=yuteequna"Hu") (i.e. ="Fasting" in those counted days above =2/184) ........

185- ..... and whoever witnesses the Month among you
                                        shall fulfill"It" (=falyasum"Hu") (i.e. ="Fasting" in those counted days above =2/184) ........

So I think those two "It" (="Hu&quot thus refer to the same thing (i.e. ="Fasting" in those counted days above =2/184).

Thank you LastDay3 for your reply. My Arabic teacher taught me that a pronoun in a sentence is related to the closest noun in that sentence. So as per Arabic grammer rules "HU" refers to "Al-Shahr" which comes just before the pronoun.

Could you please give me your understanding of root ( &#1605?

And also your understanding of 2194

The holy month for the holy month, and the sanctities are subject to retribution. So when anyone commits aggression against you, be aggressive against him in the like manner as he did against you, and fear Allah, and be sure that Allah is with the God-fearing.

In this traditional translation what "The holy month for the holy month"means? Does this translation make any sense?

                                          Peace/Salaam be upon you, Novice,

All our Thanks are absolutely and only to AL-LAH.
I do not follow traditional arabic grammar rules, my dear Friend, when reading QURAN TESTAMENT,
because I believe that AL-LAH has no obligation to follow those man-made traditional grammar rules,
but we have an absolute obligation to follow GOD-Made Perfect Grammar Rules in their rightful Context in QURAN TESTAMENT,
because I witness that AL-LAH can clearly break those man-made traditional grammar rules, many times throughout QURAN TESTAMENT.

But even if we had to follow that traditional grammar rule above and had to refer that pronoun (="hu&quot
exclusively and only to that closest noun (="al-Shahr&quot above,
I think we can still understand it the exact same way (even though it would take a little bit longer) as I tried to clearly explain it above.

My basic understanding with regard to this root above ( &#1605 is as follows

it is used as "Fasting" (=i.e. abstaining from all eating and drinking)
                                          specifically in this form (="Siyaam&quot throughout QURAN TESTAMENT (=2/183, 187, 196 & 4/92 & 5/89, 95 & ....),

it is used as "Fasting" (=i.e. abstaining from all speaking and talking)
specifically in this form (="Sawm&quot throughout QURAN TESTAMENT (=19/26),

And also your understanding of 2194

The holy month for the holy month, and the sanctities are subject to retribution.
So when anyone commits aggression against you, be aggressive against him in the like manner as he did against you, and fear Allah,
and be sure that Allah is with the God-fearing.

My basic understanding in this regard is as follows

al-Shahru al-Haraam bial-Shahri al-Haraam = the Holy Month is (equally respected) as the Holy Month!

i.e. the Holy Month (of yours especially Month of Ramadan in which we should fast as it is written unto us in QURAN TESTAMENT here)
is (to be equally respected) as the Holy Month (of previous Congregations Jews and Christians
= especially their Month of Abib in which they should fast as it is written unto them in TORAH and GOSPEL).

*Please, also absolutely see these Verses above in QURAN TESTAMENT here
