God does not forgive setting partners with Him but He forgives anything else (what is below that)to whomever He wills; and whoever sets partners with God, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin

God does not forgive setting partners with Him but He forgives anything else (what is below that)to whomever He wills; and whoever sets partners with God, he has indeed strayed far away.

    2 questions

    1. Is non believing in God part of the forgiven sins?

    2. Why the quraan does not give an example of someone who is a non believer but a good doer?

      1. maybe lack of belief in God is no sin at all

      2. maybe this is someone who does not commit sin for reasons other than belief in God, so no example is required because what the sins are is made clear by God

        Hi Samia,
I've always wanted to enquire about this but always forget. Did God forgive or did He not, Moses' followers, when they worship the calf in his absence? A reading of 254 doesn't make it clear to me. However, if God did forgive, then this would be in conflict with the two verses above.

Hope someone can help me on this. Thanks.

            salam brother/sister

perhaps Allah is saying he will not forgive those who hold this belief until death. otherwise, if one commits shirk once, even for an instant, one is doomed, and one may as well increase in sin as there is no hope.

              Peace sister Samia,

              1. Is non believing in God part of the forgiven sins?

Not believing in the god would be unappreciation (kufr) of the god. I am not sure if this is a lesser crime than setting up partners with the god.

              1. Why the quraan does not give an example of someone who is a non believer but a good doer?

I can't remember the sign right now but I believe that there is something about the deeds of rejecters being wasted.

              Peace,

              Ayman

Thats somewhat how I look at it as well. Its probably better to not believe in God at all then to associate partners.

When you do not believe in God, then you are making anything above you a partner to God. It is the worst case of Shirk. The alternative is when you make yourself the partner to God, as Firaon did when he claimed that he is actually God.

These are the verses with "deeds being wasted". None of them are non-believers doing good and being humble. Yet at least two for the "apostates"

I believe its because they came to truth, and then disregarded it, which is worse than not believing at all.

However, if you were brought up as a Muslim, I dont think it MAKEs you a Muslim? Therefore Im not sure if those ayat would apply to them?

                                2 questions

                                1. Is non believing in God part of the forgiven sins?

                                2. Why the quraan does not give an example of someone who is a non believer but a good doer?

To answer your first question, those who die in a state where they denied existence in Allah and they truly did not believe in Him, He will not forgive them

The Prophet said, "Whoever said "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and has in his heart good (faith) equal to the weight of a barley grain will be taken out of Hell. And whoever said "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and has in his heart good (faith) equal to the weight of a wheat grain will be taken out of Hell. And whoever said, "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and has in his heart good (faith) equal to the weight of an atom will be taken out of Hell." (Bukhari kitabul iman)

Regarding shirk, Allah will not forgive that if you died in a state of shirk without doing tauba/repentance. However, Allah may forgive any other sin as He pleases even if you died without repenting from it. The reason, I believe, is how can Allah forgive a sin when you do not even recognize Him and when you set up partners with Him and give His exclusive qualities to mere idols?

                                  see verse 980

Please read the verses before it to see their description. My question is about just not believing in God while at the same time being respectful to others in their belief (not mocking them or their scriptures, messengers, rituals...etc) and kind to people in general.

I don't think the verse mentioned, or alluded to repentence. Of course any sin is forgivable after repentence, including shirk. The verse is talking about the sins you die pefore repenting them.

God does not forgive setting partners with Him but He forgives anything else (what is below that)to whomever He wills; and whoever sets partners with God, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin

                                        2 questions

                                        1. Is non believing in God part of the forgiven sins?

                                        2. Why the quraan does not give an example of someone who is a non believer but a good doer?

                                        Salaam ALeikum,

I believe the contradictions arises through the wrong understanding of yagfiru. The root word has more to do with protection against consequences. So I would translate it as

4116 God does not protect (against the consequences) those who set partners with Him but He protects anything else (what is below that)to whomever He wills ; and whoever sets partners with God, he has indeed strayed far away .

448 God does not protect (against the consequences) setting partners with Him but He protects anything else (what is below that)to whomever He wills ; and whoever sets partners with God, devised a tremendous drag on his own person.

                                        Ithm = A dragging violation
Yagfiru = To be protected against dirt, coming from Ghafara, to protect. Ghafour = helmet and armour.

                                        1. Not believing in God creates a wrong perception of Reality and you will follow anything but the Divine Message and thus you cannot protect/yagfiru against the consequences of your deeds as you cannot attain the knowledge needed to protect yourself by just observing nature and human morality.

                                        2. I do not know, but I do know that everything in the Quran has a direct purpose, if something is mentioned or something is not mentioned, both are equally important to investigate why.

                                          The Actual Aya are

                                          448
(44 Surely Allah does not forgive that a partner be ascribed to Him, *79 although He forgives any other sins for whomever He wills. *80 He who associates anyone with Allah in His divinity has indeed forged a mighty lie and committed an awesome sin.

                                          4116
(4116) Truly it is only associating others with Allah in His divinity that Allah does not forgive, *144 and forgives anything besides that to whomsoever He wills. Whoever associates others with Allah in His divinity has indeed strayed far away

PEARLS OF TRANSLATION FROM THE QURANIST

                                          PEARL NO 1
Yagfiru = To be protected against dirt, coming from Ghafara, to protect

New grammar and new dictionary ;ghafara means to protect and yaghfiru means "To be protected ".(mashallah and subhanallah)

Sir ! sorry to ask .Who is your teacher in arabic??

While traditional books write that "Yughfaru" = to be protected /to be forgiven
                                          PEARL NO 2

and thus you can protect/yagfiru against the consequences of your deeds as you cannot attain the knowledge needed to protect yourself by just observing nature and human morality.

Aya is mentioning the subject of "yaghfiru" as "Allah" but our scholar makes it s subject "You"
Is human being equal to Allah ??
only a Quranist can produce such Bouquet.None else.
