  • God house
    S szuberi

In 2127, it is said that Abraham was told by God to raise (rafa) rules and regulations (qawaid) from (min) the Bayt (house). Now we all know that a physical building made of brick and mortar can not have some rules or principles attached to it that apply to all mankind in all times but from a single location on earth. Hence, this reference to Bayt in the verse is that of a metaphorical references. It is a spiritual house or a system that God has made for all mankind. This meaning may "overlap" with other words like sharia, deen etc. but may not be exactly similar.

Moreover, Bayt can not be translated as a physical house in the last verse of Surah Nuh..as he is pleading to God to bring all believers of the world into his Bayt. By the time we reach this verse, the whole world has been drowned in a flood already so there is no physical house.

  • Hot/"ramadan" Answer
    S szuberi

Is it not possible that the verse where it says "black thread from the white thread" is a metaphorical reference towards truth becoming clear from falsehood. Further, eating and drinking may also mean consumption in a metaphorical sense.

In 1926, Mary has been eating and drinking while in a state of "fasting/sayam"

My personal issue with this is that how come "fasting" which is supposed to make us "righteous/mutaqeen", is used as a punishment by God throughout the Quran. There are many verses where it is said that we should fast based on a prohibited act.

I dont get why people who know Arabic tend to think they have better grip over the understanding of the Quran.

"That book has guidance for those who know Arabic"

    doesnt exist in the Quran.

    Ayisha,

When you do not understand the difference or accept the difference between a female and male, what is the point in becomming funny about that. He equated Ayat with the Book. I told him Ayat is feminine and Book is masculine, therefore, they can't be one and the same thing and can never be used interchangably.

Let him respond, then I will tell him how much wrong is he in interpreting the same looking words everywhere to mean the same thing. Had he realized that feminine is never like a masculine, he would have clearly understood the meanings everywhere. There is no confusion or no two meanings could be assigned to an Arabic word placed in a sentence since it is tied not only with the previous word but also with the next word. There is a thread discussing only this Root.

Dude your attitude sucks big time.

It appears that you are just sitting there...waiting to prove anyone or anything wrong so you can score some points.

The Quran clearly says that the messenger reads pages that are purified and in these pages there are books. So whether ayahs or surahs are books or not doesnt matter. Whatever division is there within THE BOOK is the Kutub being referred to here. Just like the Bible...it means a Library of Books.

I accept the Word of Allah and not what I believe to be your misconceived idea of the Word of Allah. In Quran Allah tells me to think and reflect on its verses, that is done using some common sense, which is called common sense as we are all given some, its common. I have seen you here telling someone to NOT use common sense when thinking about an ayat, which is against what Allah said.

I have believed for a while now, and same as szuberi have come to the conclusion that The Quran, or at the very least the Mother of the Book, is comprised of ALL Allah's words that have been given to man and just like as afridi said, its like a super computer and Allah has the hard drive, so when Allah says 'no one can change the words of Allah' He aint kidding, Hes got the hard drive, the whole copy.

People of the book are all of us that listen to Allahs words, not just Christians or Jews, and those verses apply to us all. To imply that The Book is Quran and only Quran IMO is wrong as that is not what Allah says when you look at the whole wood instead of inspecting the bark of the trees individually. That is why this FINAL message is for ALL mankind and confirms what came before it are from Allah are part of this message and that is why they are in this message.

You may be well versed in the Arabic language but your manner and the way you pass that information on is not in any way how you have been told to 'teach' and is not following any prophet that i have heard of. You call people ignorant, stupid, munafiq , claim an Arabic teacher would slap the face of one not getting it and have even claimed that learning Arabic is easy for those who dont have veils on their hearts. this is not for YOU to decide who has a veil on his/her heart or not and you too may very well have one over yours which your apparent arrogance shines through. With a little humility and a bucket of patience you could teach many many people how to understand the Arabic language but instead you have tantrums and call names and fail to have a productive discussion or debate. In your mind you are right and everyone else is wrong and you are not in the least bit 'pliable' nor will you even think for one minute that someone else may have a good point, which many have here.

Arabic script and language is very similar to your own mother tongue, so learning this is much easier for you than someone like me, but I do think that as I said above, you cannot see the wood for the trees.

    Excellent Sister

You guys are arguing for no reason.

Those who want to continue to believe in four books ONLY can continue with their belief. 2213 and 683-89 tell us otherwise.

Quran has no support of these four books only.

    Please read this verse

you who believe; believe in God and His messenger, and the Book which was sent down to His messenger, and the Book which was sent before. And whoever rejects God, and His angels, and His Books, and His messengers, and the Last Day; then he has strayed a far straying (4136)

In the same verse, the word THE BOOK (Al-Kitab - singular) and Books (Kutub - plural). What does this mean? The answer is given in 982-3

?Rasool (messenger) from Allah rehearses purified pages. In them (pages) are BOOKS (kutub) established.?
    (982-3)

Each page of the quran is pure. All the pages are purified. A messenger recites from these purified pages. And what are written in the pages??????????..ayats?.verses!!! Each ayat/verse is a BOOK in itself!

the word "kutubihi" indeed is a plural of Book but this does not mean that there are several books given to several prophets.

Keep 2213 and 683-89 in mind where the singular and proper THE BOOK is used.

Kutubihi is a reference to the "surahs" that are contained within THE BOOK.

To understand this further, you will have to take out all references of "Alkitab", "Kutubihi", "Kutub", "Torah, Gospel, Psalms" and then do a comprehensive analysis.

Since it is under Umbrella of Edip Yuksel, So shall one assume, all the writers who contributed towards this book are under influnce of Miracle of 19, and preaching of Rashad Khalifa?

and then to have people like Irshad Manji on the list, realy is too much to start with.
I am telling you with sincerity that only this name alone can make people avoid even glancing at the book, (I am talking about masses).

Well let us see what's up the Islamic reform.

For most muslims, the words Islam and reform can not go to bed together to begin with so while your point is valid, the absence of names like Rashad or Irshad Manji wont make much difference anyway.

Through the study of the Quran, i have come to the understanding that THE BOOK was given to all prophets (2213, 683-89) and Quran/Recital is simply the confirmation and detail of THE BOOK (1037) that was given to all. Torah, Psalms and Gospel are not books but rather attributes and characteristics of THE BOOK. (Al-Kitab).

    One GOD
    One Judgement
    One standard
    One BOOK

If we read the Quran with this understanding, a whole lot of questions are answered very clearly. It will also become clear that why the Quran constantly refers the Messenger and not by name.

Most people do not and will not believe in this however.

The second word of verse (12) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A preposition and proper noun. The prefixed preposition lm is usually translated as "for". The proper noun is in the genitive case (&#1585. Together the segments form a preposition phrase known as jr wa majrr ( &#1585. So the lm is a prefixed preposition and the second word "Illah" is a gentitive proper noun. Given the context of the surah and the verse itself, it points to the meaning that is already established.

    Questions/Comments on the Quran

  • Hajj and Jerusalem
    S szuberi

As opposed to Mecca? The Kaaba for all recorded history was a booth that housed idols and all manner of war was fought over it, before during and after the life of the prophet. There is no peaceful city anywhere on earth, and in tradition there is no singular location of holiness. In the Bible Abraham builds a shrine to God everywhere he goes. Even though Jews say that Jerusalem is the navel of the earth, etc the Bible says the ark was housed there because it was previously a big threshing floor, in other words a large flat surface suitable for a shrine.

People are nuts when it comes to aggrandizing holy sites.

recorded history always is never 100% correct so we have to take it with grain of salt. the main purpose i quoted 396 was to show evidence that the house of Allah is in Mecca since the start of mankind. when it is further said that this house is blessed and a guidance for mankind, this simply means whoever is there to take guidance (salah/tawaf/worship/submission to Allah). Such a guidance is not automatic that everyone who will go there will be blessed. Imagine performing visiting the house of Allah and paying for it through haram means? such a visit or worship is likely not accepted.

this jerusalem story is completely fake and this city was never the direction of salah for anyone. the word 'qibla' means...direction of faith which is Allah's judgement of Islam.

Lastly, the story that Abraham built the Kaaba physically is fake. The arabic used is "qawaid" which is not the word used for "bricks and mortar". The verse simply means that Abraham and Ishmail worshipped Allah at the Kaaba and properly re-established the rituals of salah and tawaf. these are the "qawaid" of islam tha the verse refers to.
