So that article is incorrect if it says otherwise. Anyway some thoughts. Also it's not that God targets them with punishment, it's their actions which are causing them to deal with sufferings.. because they abandon god's mercy so they bring upon suffering to themselves 2923. Suppose you came home and heard your neighbors house had burnt down would you know that (s)he must of sinned recently? If someone is born disabled are they being punished for a sin? There is no indication as such to my knowledge that these relate to sin. It would be illogical to think so? unless sin could mean other things, like carelessness. which i doubt. e.g. left the gas on the stove, used unsafe utensils, married someone you know had a genetic issue.. whatever be the case i personally don't think they relate to sin. they're more like cause and effect and chance. Everything's a possibility.. almost. Peace.

Salamun alaikum, I'm in the process of converting a couple of translations by hand as I don't have the software to do it automatically. All I need is the text of all the ayats in order without surah and ayat number in a list (each ayat seperated by a carriage return) and I can modify an existing free app for the iPhone to allow reading of our favourite translations. The app is already excellent, but they won't approve the texts themselves (as they are 'heretical&#039. I'm currently modifying QXP to fit, didn't get a response from Dr Shabbir, so thought I would modify it myself. I was going to keep a copy for myself and ask the publishers to see if they would mind me doing this. The translation file is stored as sqlite database. Not being too computer minded - don't know how to it properly except manually. QXP pdf converted to text for editing has introduced too many carriage returns, which I am removing by hand. Once I have the relevant permissions, I will share the app for you to install on jailbroken idevices. Let's hope it all works... Peace d Good luck. handshake

Assalamu Alaykum This topic is a problem I have about Salah. I still pray in the traditional way but this is not a debate about this. My problem is that, if I remember correctly, Allah says in the Quran that we should say our Salah in a moderate tone. Now I still pray in the mosque in my area since I can concentrate better there. Problem is they make Thuhr and Asr prayers silently.I like going to mosque but I do not know what to do since the Quran verse says we should say our Salah in a moderate tone. I did not tell my family I am not following the sunni way anymore so I have the same problem when I pray with them. I currently remake all my Salahs that is made silently but it is getting very taxing. Help anyone? From what I understand (retrospectively), it is likely to mean the one who will remain chaste and never marry. That might be one of the reasons the Christians adopted the vow of chastity in their priesthood, at least until the protestant and other schisms...

Oh dear, why do we have to take things literally. When the Qur'an says that Believers are are but a single Brotherhood, it means (IMO), that all Believers need to treat each other like they will to their family members. In my view, Believers share something in a common; a bond that cannot be broken. The Qur'an states that a Believers is someone who once believes, never turns back in faith (A true Believer will never become a disbeliever). Anyway... the Believers are hence connected to each other by their commitment/dedication/faith to God. It's the connection you share with your biological family members... you can have an ex-boyfriend, an ex-boss, an ex-friend, but you can never have an ex-mother, ex-father, ex-brother or ex-sister because you and your family members are biologically connected; you share the same blood. Same with the Believers, you share something that is one of, if not the strongest connection there will ever be your belief and commitment to God. I hope I make sense... To answer the title of this thread; NO, female and male Believers are NOT forbidden to marry each other. In fact, 2221 ordains the Believers to not marry anyone but the Believers. I don't know why you are so frustrated about calling other Believers/Muslims Brothers or Sisters. I personally find it very endearing. Truth be told, I feel strong connection to those who share the same faith as I do; I feel many whom I have talked to are really close friends, like I have known them forever, even though we have not met them in person. But that's just me. The connection with one's family... is a totally different thing as compared to commitment to believing. So believers and family... and even drug users are the same? Because they use the same drugs? I don't think I can accept such logic. No... you make little sense. In fact you could say that you are mistaken. Yes exactly, females and males are not forbidden to marry unless if they are defined in the quran that they are of specific relationships. Opinion? Your opinion? As in not to have sexual relationships with family members? Where in the quran does it say that the believers should treat everyone like their own family members? Believers share the belief together, aye. The quran describes us as friends to one another. Not brothers and sisters... who are denied marriage to one another. Your understanding of brothers and sisters of endearing, I feel, is the same as those who claim "muhammad is alive, we should love him and do things that aren't even in the quran because we want to love the prophet out of our own good hearts". I cannot marry and have children with my sister, I can with you. How can you be my sister? Fine... all the muslims are brothers to you as you wish it... then of course you can never marry any of them. Your only choice is non-muslims as they are not brothers for you... and because of the ignorance of many so called as someone would call them here "sunnis", their daughters end up only talking to non-muslims and marrying them.

You talked about a certain command being redundant/superfluous, which is a point I can understand, but I did not understand why you then talked about grammar when I asked you to clarify. I think its rather simple. Problem-Solution. Human beings tend to develope different perceptions and different motives for their actions but no matter what it remains the same. Problem-Solution If an Athiest/Evolutionist Feeds the Poor and saves lives....I think He does so because He thinks it is what is better for humanity (His species and Planet) Why? a religious person may say because of "Fitrah"(divinely inspiered distinction between good and evil)... Antother Atheist would say becuase it is the only way to further progress the human species. The Problem is Poverty or Illness....The Solution= a Good hearted and concerned athiest. If a Religious person Feeds the Poor and saves Lives, He does so for the same reason as the athiest plus more. A) Because Allah Commands B) Because Allah explains the golden rule and laws of when you do good you get a reward in return (i.e. Karma) C) Because it will further life for mankind. either way, Allah feed the people and Allah Saved the people. I am not aware of 'types of intensity' in the Classical Arabic language. I am only aware of the levels thereof. Thus, raahim is merciful, whereas raheem is very merciful. Similarly, ghaafir is forgiving, whereas ghafoor is very forgiving.

The early written compilations called suhuf were little more than random transcriptions or personal collections. Cool that verifies what i thought, that people wrote their own personal accounts of knowledge they sought. When the problem of hadith was recognised, a "science" seemed to come about. Exactly as the other book mentions, because of the civil war people were asked to verify their claims with an isnad. Kinda scary, people before the civil war could have easily adopting things claiming it is/was a practice of the prophet when in actually fact might probably be a bida... an innovation. with Maliks mutawata, it's so subjective and was based on ijma that even today sunni scholars don't accept all hadiths in it as 'sound' and this is the closest documentation from the prophets time S From the very start hadith had weakness and will forever have weaknesses.

Hello I'm new to this whole website. I'm really excited to have found it!! All thanks to God who knows my heart. I have been seeking the truth and God with all my heart and I believe that He has shown me the right path!! Newly converted to God only from being a "non-denominational Christian". I have really appreciated the Quran A Reformist Translation and I have been praying to God to show me a translation as accurate as this one but without all the commentaries. And what do you know, I stumbled upon The Message (Quran Translation, not to be mistaken with the message Bible), God is awesome! So anyway, my fianc? is also excited because we are traveling on the same path in the same direction. We got started on it due to an disagreement between Catholics and non-denominational Christian (he having been the former). However, I have found an English translation of the Word that translates Allah to God correctly and doesn't allow him to beat me, but we haven't found a French translation that translates Allah to Dieu nor that forbids him to beat me. I am bilingual French-English but he only speaks French. So in brief, what I'm trying to get at is IS THERE A FRENCH TRANSLATION OF "THE MESSAGE TRANSLATION OF THE QURAN"?? I think the newer copies of his translation still carry "God" rather than "Allah" in the footnotes. The use of the word Allah as a 'name' really is a new phenomenon at least amongst the muslims of South Asia... in the good old days we used to use the word Khuda instead of Allah when speaking in Urdu, but that has changed drastically since the mid-1980's. I purposely tease my acquaintances my wishing them KhudaHafiz instead of the AllahHafiz that has been imposed ever since. jedi
