We are spiritual beings, created in God?s image I've heard a joke about this In the beginning, God created men in His own image. Then came along the Christians, they created God in a man's image. Anyway, thanks for the stimulus. You learn something new everyday handshake You're welcome, yes we do learn something new every day handshake Salam

is it possible that any of the prophets/messengers mentioned in the qur'an are female but due to the judeo-christian-sunni influence we have come to interpret them as males? perhaps their names are not proper names that but rather titles as this MAY be the case with mohammad - the praise worthy one? i don't know arabic, just wondering if this could possibly be the case? Most prophets were alluded at in other verses as "their brother" when talking about the people of the relevent prophet, e.g Noah; Huud; Saleh; Lut; Shuaib; Haruun (brother of Musa). The others were spoken of in the masculine form. So, even if the names were just titles, it's clear that the titles were carried by males.

Salaams Br, May be this is all humbug to you but after four years of studying the quran this is my view. Lets start If I was to think there is someone who shares in the authority with someone called Allah ? where is the cause in that if any and what is its effect? NONE! - I think. When I serve other then the attributes of Allah other then all those good actions, then indeed there is a cause and an effect which is actually opposite to the actions produced by the good action of the attributes. Allah says be kind well try the opposite may be because of your friends doing thus ? certainly then your actions will produce a result opposite to the attribute of being kind. And that to me is called shirk- the cause and effect become other then that of Allah- so you are serving other then Allah. Now let?s see for what the quran is saying; 039.051 YUSUFALI Nay, the evil results of their Deeds overtook them. And the wrong-doers of this (generation) - the evil results of their Deeds will soon overtake them (too), and they will never be able to frustrate (Our Plan)! 039.053 039.054 YUSUFALI "Turn ye to our Lord (in repentance) and bow to His (Will), before the Penalty comes on you after that ye shall not be helped. 039.055 YUSUFALI "And follow the best of (the courses) revealed to you from your Lord, before the Penalty comes on you - of a sudden while ye perceive not!- 039.056 YUSUFALI "Lest the soul should (then) say 'Ah! Woe is me!- In that I neglected (my duty) towards Allah, and was but among those who mocked!'- 039.057 YUSUFALI "Or (lest) it should say 'If only Allah had guided me, I should certainly have been among the righteous!'- 039.058 YUSUFALI "Or (lest) it should say when it (actually) sees the penalty 'If only I had another chance, I should certainly be among those who do good!' 039.059 YUSUFALI "(The reply will be) 'Nay, but there came to thee my Signs, and thou didst reject them thou wast Haughty, and became one of those who reject faith!'" 039.060 YUSUFALI On the Day of Judgment wilt thou see those who told lies against Allah;- their faces will be turned black; Is there not in Hell an abode for the Haughty? 039.061 YUSUFALI But Allah will deliver the righteous to their place of salvation no evil shall touch them, nor shall they grieve. 039.063 YUSUFALI To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth and those who reject the Signs of Allah,- it is they who will be in loss. 039.064 YUSUFALI Say "Is it some one other than Allah that ye order me to serve, O ye ignorant ones?" 039.065 YUSUFALI But it has already been revealed to thee,- as it was to those before thee,- "If thou wert to join (gods with Allah), truly fruitless will be thy work (in life), and thou wilt surely be in the ranks of those who lose (all spiritual good)". The serving or worshipping is via our actions only. The above ayah?s are depicting those who serve Allah and those who don?t serve Allah ? via our actions only. Thanks.

Dear Bahman, It is good to hear your change of heart. I can undertsand that any debates, especially lengthy ones, are exahausting and take their toll. Do not exert yourself, you cannot convince the whole world. It is enough that you are statisfied with your research and findings and that when we stand before the Almighty we will know that we were honest in our search for truth.

I have a simple solution for you. Islam means submission to God, it is not a name, as many people think, it is a description. Thus if he does not want to be called Muslim, then it is still okay as long as he behaves like one. Ijaz, I don't quite agree on the meaning, but I totally agree that it is not a name/title. It's not important what we call ourselves, we are defined by our thoughts and actions.

Peace winter, I am sorry to hear of your loss. Death is inevitable, yet, parting from those we have known and loved for so many years is never easy. May the Lord accept their souls into His mercy and may they be of the rightoues. I read articles by the people who created this forum but aren't I just transferring my trust from the scholars to the writers on this site? Yes, you are correct. God has given us the faculties of mind, hearing, and eyesight so we may distinguish between what is right and what is wrong. The people who write here are not divine, nor are they infallible. Put your trust in God and make your own decisions whether to accept or reject anything said or written based on verification.

2530 And the Messenger will say, O My Lord! These are my people, the ones who had disabled this Quran making it of no account leave it putting it behind a barriere ." Mahjoor means Villagers who immobilized by binding a cow tying her front foot to her horn. Mahjoor = A cow thus immobilized. To prohibit access. Strong Barriere Dam which was put behind a barriere. To an Arab, something Mahjoor was a thing he does not like and wants to keep away from it so he did not had to suffer it.

Sure, why not P . Though keep in mind neither are prophets. Dhul Qarnayn is either Alexander The Great or Cyrus The Great.

Salaam all I am not really impressed by his speech. He translates a word wrongly (7adeeth), because he mixxes it with (7adath) which is event. Consequently, he made the qur'aan "events". Why would a believer shiver from listening to events? Moreover, stories of prophets are referred to "qaSaS stories". There is even a chapter with tis title which is almost only about stories of prophets. He proves it by the stories of Musa and Ibrahim's guests mentioned in the qur'aan as 7adeeth. He deliberately ignores that those people had conversations (with God and with Ibrahim). As for "7adeeth" alghashia, this "ghashia" is not even an event yet. Secondly, hell and paradise are not events. They are not yet. Thirdly, he made a specific verse (the one he says the longest verse) a general one, in order to discredit the books of hadeeth. I do not think the problem with Bukhari et al is that they did not have (two witnesses). You do not need "two witnesses" for a research, which is, at best, what Bukhari did. Another problem with this generalization of this verse is that he is making the rule of "one man and two women" testimony a genral rule. I just stopped after the second part. I do not want to waste my time on someone changing great rules to discredit haeeth. Hadeeth discredits itself. He said that when an event is mentioned it becomes a hadith. So there is an event (hadath) and when we talk about that event it becomes a hadith. So he is correct. Thats why we use hadathani, meaning he told me about an event. Rather than kalamani, which means he just told me something. So he is right that hadith is describing an event by words. Second he must have meant the intitial witness(companion) were a single witness. This is correct, most hadiths in Bukhari are narrated by a single person, it does not matter after that how many narrated the hadith since its origins are single and later it spread out(common link) and ended with different sources. Thirdly it was interesting what he said about the prophet's wives not being allowed to discuss and conversate with the common people. He no doubt was refering to Ayesha who did exactly that after the prophet passed away. His problem was the same problem some have here, he does not believe in the sunnah as a matter of principle and not that its been fabricated or unreliable. In the Q&A he had problems with that when he was asked about the verses in the Quran that says Obey God and Obey the messenger. He said it means the Quran, actually he should have said its made for the companions who were there. And it was made as an order to obey the community leader and whoever leads them after the prophet. He made it a hard sell. This way he has reduced the prophet to a tape recorder. nope

Layth Peace, Has anyone considered that it may have been neither Ismail or Issac? Lot is mentioned in the Quran as being from the progeny of Abraham (686). We are also told that Lot believed and emigrated with Abraham before the shrine was raised by Abraham/Ismail. Bravo! have you and ayman taken the responsibility to mislead Muslims and believers?
