Welcome to Free-Minds. Arthur Koestler wrote a good bit relating to Synchronicity in The Case Of The Midwife Toad and much more in depth in The Roots Of Coincidence. I recommend those books to you. It is fascinating stuff, and yes, when apparent synchronicity draws one's notice, it does get one wondering about its having meaning. I saw two shadow beings, one soon after another, or one shadow being twice, within just a few minutes one afternoon about thirty years ago. A few hours later I learned that a family member had died at about the time I had seen the shadow being/s.

Re salat The important thing is to apply as you learn. For example, if you think salat is X, then do X, but keep increasing your knowledge, then if you find it means Y and you should modify it then do so, and keep repeating this process. Seeking knowledge is a continual process, a journey. As long as one is sincere and they put in reasonable effort, that is the key. That is one of the better things I have read in a long time! It is sort of a common sense thing which people miss. This approach is good for avoiding blind faith and sheep mentality. It is also good for growth as you are willing to be at your own frontier of understanding, always ready to adapt to new understanding, ready to grow. Life is after all change. That which ceases being dynamic and stops developing, dies. So this is actually how the Creative Being/Allah makes people grow step by step. It is to go with the flow of life and the inspirations that Allah gives you. It is to forgo resistance and embrace growth. Peace!

salam I am new here. for many yrs I was confused that y I found hadeth so absurd. I used to wonder am I the only one. but now it is nice to know ppl like me exist. but now after going through many quranists sites I have got more confused.....coz now every religious act is maligned. n every doubt raised w.r.t. those acts result in angered backlash. I am from India Hyderabad n ppl here r soo sensitive on these issues. now a bigger problem is getting married. I know it sounds stupid, but once u start raising questions n ur belief system changes getting married to hadith followers is impossible. n being a girl following different stuff gets more difficult. already my parents r troubled by me n my beliefs splly when I ask hundreds of questions on every religious act and they follow them without knowing answers. image how things will be with husband n inlaws. hmm I even don't know how to pray now. how many times to pray. more so what to read while I am praying. every site has their own no. of prayers n way of praying. I decided to pray the way I do but then I came across a site which raised question on the word Ameen. although I am certain that Quran is word of god n hadeeth are fabrication, there r few things which needs to be sorted out n salah is one of them. btw it is gr8 to know u all. wonder how u guys are dealing with these issues confused. Salaam sister welcome to the forum handshake I admit that in the beginning it's confusing what is correct and what not but inshaAllah everything will be clear to you. The way you do your sallaat now is correct, just keep on updating yourself in the best way when knowledge comes to you. It will take some time to understand. This time is also needed because it is impossible to change everything from one to another day. You will inshaAllah see that Allah wil relief you from your burden the more you study. Just hold strong to The Book Allah gave you and follow what He inspires to you. Salaam, Bender

salaam so i will continue here. hahaha.... Quranism is also shirk because it is taking creation of god (quran) as divinity. You have to follow GOD and not only one of his creations (quran). You have to read (with caution) what he called kitab (torah, injeel) partially modified by humans You have to meditate and think on other ayats (natural ayats as universe, earth, life, history, etc.) Quranism is a sect. Muslim to GOD is the true path. Where did you see quranism in Quran ? Muslim to God is in quran. hahaha... Peace Your understanding of shirk has nothing to do with the shirk the Quran is talking about. I don't understand why Quranist use that word so carelessly. Shrik is an unforgiveable sin. Its hard to understand why a Quran followers will slap that label on anything that even moves. First you should research what shirk is.

As fascinating as all these "conspiracy theories" may or may not be, perhaps out of courtesy for the chap who originally posted this lovely thread, a separate thread ought to be created. !

Good question. Mohammed means "the praised one" which can also just be a title and not necessary a name. Consequently I choosed not to name the messenger of the Quran as I know next to nothing about him, not even his name. Maybe his name was Mohammed and maybe not. Only God knows that. Peace Wow. May I ask you why is it difficult for you to find out the name of messenger upon whom the Quran was revealed. Regards

As Salaam Alaykum. As my name says, I am scared. Scared of what I have learned, but feel I have known all along...that a majority of Muslims follow the Prophet Muhammed (saws) over God. So often I would scratch my head at the "rituals" I was told to perform (like the pointing of the finger during salat, saying "bismillah" when entering the house, asking protection when entering the bathroom, etc.). It seemed so...I can't seem to find the word today, must be from the fasting P. So I have spent the better part of the day reading up on Qu'ran only Muslims. I agree with so much of what it says, but am terrified that I will be a kafir for walking away from hadith. How can something that so many others follow be so wrong? I guess my answer to that could be equated with how so many Christians observe Christmas and Easter, even though the Bible never says to do it. I am married with a daughter, my husband came to Islam while incarcerated in prison, even though his father was Muslim (and is also incarcerated). I am the only Muslim in my family, other than a distant cousin. I was raised Christian and for a while studied with Jehovahs Witnesses. Of course, they too commit shirk and once I realized that, I came to Islam. Please forgive me if I seem shattered...I am terrified...I have no idea what is right anymore. welcome handshake sun although we've had some posts with each other, i actually haven't had the chance to greet you in this forum and i'm currently in a greetings spree hehe, so here it is welcome aboard ) on the fear that you have, if i were you, i'd be alleviated by looking at these verses here with a note that muslims will go to heaven regardless of their aymaan(oath/creed/religion/covenant) as long as they stay true to the definition of being in peace and in good 2111-112 i hope you have a pleasant stay here.. peace

Salam everyone! sun I stumbled on this site few days ago & was quite relieved to find some refreshing & unorthodox views on Islam. I always beleived God/Allah was All loving/most merciful rather than the stringent God portrayed by orthodox muslims who would not accept your dua if he wasnt glorified or durood wasnt recited first. yeah I had quite a few problems in accepting Islam at face value initially...you see things like polygamy, inferior status of the women, sex slavery, no of prophet's wives etc etc..(u know where Iam going) would bother me...for me a Creator who has created everything in this entire universe would not be biased towards 1 gender or certain tribe... >( For this reason i could not connect to Allah as others in my family would or give the same reverence to the Prophet (s). I got more instrested in spirituality but felt deep down inside my heart that i was not a good muslim..u know that guilt...later i decided to actually explore Islam thoroughly but the amount of hadeeth i read only increased my dissatisfaction. Finally i decided to read the Quran Translation (yes, this was the last step, whereas it should have been the first.. ???, lol but thats the case with most of the muslims i know, they know more hadeeth than what quran actually says () so while reading the quran things became quite clear...it actually seemed easy to follow Islam... yes but i came across few brickwalls as well...u know "what the right hand possesses", "beat the wife" etc...it was then that this site proved so life saving where i got to know there could be biased translations as well...so i can tell that i feel as if my faith in the All Loving Allah has increased in leaps & bounds! yay So GREAT WORK Guys! group Anyways, now coming to the main topic (lol, sorry for the entire 'ram kahani' ) my question, is it more important to be a great/good human being or to believe in Allah alone? i mean there so many good non muslims who are exceptional humam beings like mother theresa etc who have contributed so much to the society..would they go to 'hell' because they dont believe in the shahada? I know you must be thinking why on earth would i be intrested etc...but i would like to hear your views on this? Thanks! peace welcome handshake sun hope you've got some answers to your question by now? (i haven't read every post, so please forgive me for this) if not maybe i could also add in here with a note that muslims will go to heaven regardless of their aymaan(oath/creed/religion/covenant) as long as they stay true to the definition of being in peace and in good 2111-112 peace

Salaam/peace guys, I came across this site when I was fifteen years old and I've been doing the Qur'an Alone thing ever since. Believe me, it took a couple of months to get used to this because I grew up in a moderate Sunni family. I told my sister about it and she thought all this was "suspiciously convincing," but she still doesn't buy it, and I can't blame her. She's still more understanding than my parents. I braced up the courage to tell them last year and they debated about it with me. They were nice and all because they were worried, but they kept throwing their opinions around while I wanted hard facts. You know, real proof that following the Hadith was necessary. I even emailed a scholar about my change and the articles she sent me were no match for this site even though they were written by scholars too, and you know how professional everyone considers them to be. I was never really that interested in the Hadith aspect of Sunni-ism, and the translation of the Qur'an scared me as a kid, but I was always searching for answers. My love for God exceeded everything thing else in religion, but it was mostly passive since I was lazy when it came to prayer. I did do duas (supplication) though. They were my largest source of comfort. Then I heard people talking about how loving the prophet was also important, but I couldn't bring myself to do that. I really did try, but it didn't make sense to me since the whole point of religion was to worship God. Some times I have these agnostic thoughts about God. I believe He exists, but there's a difference between knowing and believing. welcome handshake sun i some how don't feel that agnosticism would fit in the definition of ahl-alkitaab, but i could be wrong.. stay close to the rope of Allah SWT bro, peace
