Salaam all, Don't know if this has been posted here before, but there's a brilliant 3-part youtube series on 434 by 'The Impactful Scholar', aka Javad Hashmi. Link to first video here. In general I really like his videos, and he has plenty of hadith-sceptic ones as well. Regarding 434, he buries the lead a bit until the 3rd video. The video is based on an academic essay published by Saqib Hussein, entitled 'The bitter lot of the rebellious wife'. The long and short of it is that he relates verse 434 to 416 and 242. The latter verse instructs the community to lash those guilty of infidelity with 100 lashes. He then argues, quite successfully in my opinion, that the instruction to 'beat the wife' is actually a reference to the community to mete out the lashes if the wife is found guilty of infidelity. The author stresses that the punishment for infidelity are the same for both men and women, but the actions leading up to nushooz are different, and it is more important for the man to forsake the wife in the bedroom due to issues of paternity. Overall, haven't seen this theory before and i thought it was surprisingly clear and convincing. Unnecessary imaginative flights. The verb used can either be state or dynamic. The context and the collocates determine whether the verb is stative or dynamic. Beating is dynamic action. While in 434 it is not dynamic but stative, denoting the state.

It will be patently incorrect. The alif is the subject of verb, second person dual. Salam! The word تکذبٰن is derived from the root word ک ذ ب, which means "to deny" or "to reject." The addition of the ت (ta) prefix transforms the verb into its passive form, suggesting being denied or rejected. ف Then ب with/by ای only ءاَلآء this ربِ Lord of کُما you both تُ You are کَذِٗب being denied/rejected/belied ان The suffix اٰن (aan) at the end of تُكَذِّبان (tukadhdhibaan) is known as the "حالة عاطفة" (hālatu ʿāṭifah) or the "emphatic mood" in Arabic grammar. This suffix adds a sense of emphasis, intensity, or heightened emotion to the verb. In the specific context of فبای آلاء ربكما تكذبان (fabayi aalaa'i rabbikumaa tukadhdhibaan), the emphatic mood conveys a stronger emphasis on the denial or rejection being discussed. It intensifies the idea that both the parties are vehemently being denied/rejected/belied. However, I am with a view that this suffix اٰن (aan) is added to the prefix تُ in order to make it a dual "you" as in اَلجَمعَان، یخصفان، تذودان، یسجُدان، طآیفتان because such words are always used when there are two nouns present in the ayah. My Translation Then by only this (ayah/truth) of your Lord you both are being denied? Peace!

I personally do not refer to it as "feast" although I can understand how it came to be labelled that. I don't really have a problem with that term as long as one understands it is not feast only. I am not aware of a verse in Quran wherein a hajj participant is feasting but certainly a lot of the activities revolve around food/provision and the only obligatory act seems to be the sacrifice/slaughter of an animal to feed the needy.

Brother Jkhan, I will certainly look into the channel and watch the linked video, and I will take your recommendation to heart. After watching the video, I will reflect on its contents. As you rightly said, reflection often leads us to the path of righteousness. Thank you once again for your kind gesture and for thinking of me. I will revert back to you once I have explored the channel further.

Bumping back this thread. Is there any Quran verse (or Hadith) that actually states that this act is haram? Of all sex-related stuff, this should actually be considered haram. The term "pedophile" specifically refers to adults who are sexually attracted to prepubescent children, so as far as am aware there is no specific verse in the Quran or authentic hadith that explicitly addresses pedophilia by name. However there are many indirect examples which am sure folks have already shared with you on this thread. Islamic scholars have unanimously condemned pedophilia and any form of child exploitation as it goes against the principles of Islam. They have derived their condemnation from various verses and hadiths that emphasize the protection of vulnerable individuals, the importance of consent, and the responsibility of adults to safeguard children. Matthew 186 (New Testament) "But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea." Psalm 823-4 (Old Testament) "Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked." Rigveda 10.85.44 "Let not a man approach a maiden who is still unfit for sexual relations (i.e., underage) or one who is guarded by relatives, lest he incur sin." Manusmriti 3.51 "The teacher who approaches the daughter of his pupil before her marriage shall go to hell, as also he who corrupts female slaves and serves the wives of others." Mahabharata, Anushasana Parva 185.7 "One should not indulge in sexual acts with children, with the wives of friends, or with the sisters of friends, for that is known as the vilest of sexual acts."

.... Then why informed simply as under 267 "And when Moses said to his people, "Indeed, Allah commands you to slaughter a cow." They said, "Do you take us in ridicule?" He said, "I seek refuge in Allah from being among the ignorant." This conversation continues from verse 267-71... Pls read all verses... What if Allah had said what is said in 271 in the first place... Did Allah intentionally gave little information to the people of Musa or Allah didn't mind if they slaughter any cow? If Allah didn't mind then why explained to all questions and pointed out the exact cow? One thing here is so manifest... Musa is not aware through any other wahi that which cow to be slaughtered until it was said by Allah... Here it obviously showing how limited a a prophet / person / Musa from the Messenger of Allah ... What's your lesson by these verses...does it tell us in general when Allah explained simple thrn do that simole thing rather than catch the corner of it and mix up with all nonsense... Otherwise God would have explained all details at the first instance itself... Anyone who believes in God's book welcome your understanding... Thank you.. Peace my fellow believers .. Had they slaughtered with the first revelation in 267 any cow in their town of their choice, God would have definitely accepted it coz instruction is clear.. Musa revealed " The God commanded to slaughter a cow... " more than enough to follow.. This is in Quran with intent... Just to tell this story to people of Muhamed and it was passed to all those who read now won't make any sense.. But the message is follow what God commanded... Yes they were fortunate God kept patient and God Himself chose a cow in the end of God's Choice.. ... While it was they who should have chosen with revelation of Musa... So.. Lesson is... God has revealed this Quran to follow and for knowledge and wisdom and also to know what is Ghaib which explained by God... If God explained and completed the book then no more addition like Musa's people requested... Coz God is not gonna bring more verses to explain what is already in the book from him... For example.. God says in chapter 56 and 443 few steps.. And if anyone not satisfied with those steps it is like the people of Musa they want more... But unfortunately God has not given more details than that.. Thats the final just follow... These are clear verses. As verse 37 depicts to us.. But verses that are only known by who are knowledgeable and those Allah show mercy it is the blessings for them and it is not necessary that everyone know those unexplainable verses.. Mother of book is what is fundamental for everyone.. And not hidden verses.. They are for wisdom beyond fundamental aspects.. So.. Fundamental verses of God is simple and clear if anyone can read and has common sense.. Unfortunately even fundamental verses are twisted with assistance of other sources... Like the fundamental instruction given to people of Musa.. "Slaughter a cow".. Any fool can understand it if they wanted to obey God's command honestly then and there and no need further question and clarification and assistance .. So those who split God's verses and approach any other sources as if God has not detailed fundamental verses even... Yes.. They heard they obeyed.. This is what those who believed did in the past.. But one thing to note that this Quran came directly to a community and they had a living language and the verses came in their language. . Perfect . Now this book has come long way and still some believers may take assistance of this book to augment their faith though languages are altered and meanings twisted in different languages .. Yes.. It is a challenge.. But not through another source that will make scenario verse.. Any way that is different story.. But the cream and the essence of this topic and these verses are never discard God's direct command and split them into feathers.. But take it as whole instruction and follow what is commanded directly and simply.. To wind up... God says establish Salat (prayer) at the two ends of Nahar and if one says God has not told us how to pray when to pray what to pray then they are not different to Musa's people who mocked at direct command.. . It is like call your Lord and ask how to pray... Yes.. Same like Musa's people. Obviously.. They didn't have that opportunity like the people of musa so invented with basic command what their hearts wanted.. I am so glad those people of Musa didn't continue even further.. How to slaughter a cow? With knife or ox or strangle to death.. Stab at belly or chop the head..? Who among us should do the slaughter today.. Is it rich or poor? In which place we slaughter inside or outside.. How much we pay to the owner of the cow since it is a big deal big command of God.. Well.. That's how Islam of today has cultivated.. Every sect has outside Quran many practices.. Why? Coz they are no different to these people of Musa.. Not willing to follow God's command as it is but with adjustments of their choice they are happy.. People can split as they want.. God kept simple.. No verses of Quran is kept in Quran for no reason... Not just to read stories... Those hidden verses (37)are not meant for all but those Allah choses.. And they will know meaning and they be silent.. For example.. 171 this is a such hidden verse from God.. No one knows unless disgusting stories or their own assumptions.. But if God let know to few of his servants what this verse means then they will perceive and they be happy... They don't disclose coz others cannot grasp it.. Only they will argue... Why to argue with while they never will perceive it.. But argue what is fundamental verses...so clarification is presented.. Since language of Arabic is drastically changed over time.. And we find many many various translations.. That's fair.. Let me add a little story to it... In YouTube one was arguing with me... Saying.. Our prophet has taught us to was faces three times hands three times ears three times etc etc in traditional way wudu they call... But I said... Why not once enough and four steps... That's wrong.. Quran has only veey littlecabd simple but our has detailed in a way we can follow... How nonsensical they don't perceive it... If mother tell a child was your hands before sitting at the dining table... Then if child asks how many times to wash? Then mother has to check the mental health of child?..

Please allow me to re-state what has been said in this thread, so point out if I misunderstood. Based on the examples provided by Mr. Nom In reference to verse 482, he points out that the word "akhtilāfāan" (divergences/contradictions) occurs only once in the Quran. He suggests that this lack of repetition indicates that the Quran is free from contradictions. He also mentions verse 753-4, which discusses the restoration of a person's fingertips. He argues that individual fingerprints are unique, and if identical twins did not have unique fingerprints, it would contradict this verse. Another example he presents relates to inheritance laws mentioned in verse 412. He discusses the different shares allocated to spouses, mothers, fathers, and the concept of taking from the whole or paying off others first. He points out that some interpretations may result in incorrect distributions of inheritance. In essence, Mr. Nom is drawing attention to specific verses and suggesting that these examples demonstrate either the absence of contradictions in the Quran or potential discrepancies in interpretation. Coming back the original question of this thread, I feel that through deep contemplation and reflection, it becomes evident that there exists a clear distinction between human emotions and divine legislation. Human emotions are characterized by inconsistency, where individuals may express one thing verbally, engage in different actions during the day, and harbor contrasting thoughts in their hearts. However, the legislation of God, the Quran, is devoid of any contradictions. It presents a unified reality from various perspectives. If it were the words of someone other than God, it would undoubtedly contain numerous discrepancies (223). Despite the presentation of compelling evidence and proofs, if one finds oneself in doubt or psychological confusion regarding the authenticity of the code of life bestowed upon us through the intercession of the Prophet, the simplest way to dispel such doubt is to propose an alternative plan for human life. Assemble all the intellectuals, thinkers, civilizational and political authorities of your society into a committee, excluding divine revelation alone, and challenge them to produce even a single chapter similar to the Quran. If you genuinely believe that you are incapable of determining whether this code is from God or not, and if you are merely harboring doubts and suspicions to protect your vested interests, then you must indeed accept this challenge (1113; 103. It is important to address the question of whether this challenge persists today or was solely applicable during the lifetime of the Prophet. The challenge was initially presented during the time of the Prophet as a means to affirm the divine origin of the Quran. As the Prophet was the recipient of direct revelation, he served as the ultimate authority to verify and authenticate any attempts to produce a similar scripture. However, in the present day, without the presence of the Prophet, the challenge no longer holds the same weight. While the Quran remains as a testament to its divine nature, the challenge itself was specific to the historical context of the Prophet's era.

Peace jkhan. So I agree with this translation Rarely did they sleep the whole night. كانوا قَليلًا مِنَ الَّيلِ ما يَهجَعونَ At dawn, they prayed for forgiveness. وَبِالأَسحارِ هُم يَستَغفِرونَ Their night is always including tajahud, remembrance of GOD,as well as imploring for forgiveness. prayer and study of GOD s words at dawn when healthy and able.. It is not about about little sleep or long sleep but about the division of the night into stages. Remember ,the human is sometimes exhausted or ill and can fall asleep for hours or misses to wake up at dawn when very ill or other emergencies. so rarely would apply perfectly and fits the Arabic word "Kalilan" because there will be exceptions in life. GOD bless you. Peace.

peace, You can read a detailed analysis of 2158 here https//mypercept.co.uk/articles/meaning-hajj-Quran.html There seems to be insufficient evidence, as per Quran, to definitively deduce the meaning of "safa" and "marwah", however we should bear in mind that whatever they are the implication is that they are not critical/compulsory aspects for one who did "HaJJ" or visited.

  • How do rational Muslims explain miracles in the Qur'an?

First of all brothers and sisters perceive the intention of signs/miracles ... Yes.. None but Warning.. Everything which Quran mentioned which is supernatural was not signs /miracles to warn certain community... Two types they are ... Signs / miracles (supernatural) to warn the defying people in order they may reflect.. For example Musa brought signs to Pharoa.. For instance stick turning into a real creature moving.. It is a warning.. Similar Isa curing leprosy... Second type.. Signs / miracles (supernatural) ... No warning at all.. Just God is showing His power and what He can do.. His own way.. For example creation of Isa.. It is not a warning for defying people but God wanted to create him in the way He preferred.. In fact there is lot one to reflect in this super natural Sign /miracle but not warning.. Another example.. shirt of Yousuf and clear sight of Yaqub.. These are not warning.. But definitely lot to ponder for readers.. Signs miracles / super natural (Ayaa) are warning specifically God showed to warn certain community and they were meant to witness by people with INTENT.. Had they denied signs then it is their destiny... Signs /miracles /supetnatural they were not warning and not necessarily meant to witness by people to get warned... Some people may see such signs still but not warning with INTENT.. Even musa splitting the sea is not a sign /miracle though it is supernatural but it was God's way and favor not a warning.. And that was used to destroy pharou and crew.. Not a sign to warn them.. Allah did what He could in supernatural way... Remember again Signs /miracles are only to WARN.. ponder some destructions took place in the past is absolutely supernatural and such destruction patten is not at all exists in natural disaster now.. Reflect all types of destructions fallen on certain people in the past.. For example Lut's people distruction... Is it natural..? No way.. So don't confuse God's WARNINGS in the form of Ayaa / signs / miracles with God's supernatural way of other DEALING... To end this.. Let me ask a question... Is there anyone who is brave enough to say that Isa was born in natural way according to Quran ? If you accept it is supernatural then don't denigrade God's power into metaphors.. If you say Isa was born natural way, then bring evidence within Quran... Even warning Signs/miracles or No warning Signs/miracles, they all from Allah and they were supernatural.. If you can't quite agree with science the super natural incidents, then you have some wrong assumption about the ability of God... Yes God created everything with a system and it doesn't mean the Creator can't go beyond the system to make it supernatural.. Thank you.. Note.. If anyone ready you can debate. Let me know.. There is nothing wrong in debate between believers.. It is only will expose truth... «Allah guides whom He wills and lets astray whom He wills«. So take as metaphors or literal but Allah knows the truth.. Ensure that you or me don't speak agaisnt the truth.. So debate and clear doubts or remain as you wish.. Or else beg to God for guidance eith teuth so that we don't speak against His verses without knowledge..

God's command "and obey Allah and the Rasūl رسول" This command of Allah is used in many places in the Qur'an وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ وَٱلَّرَسُولَ In almost all cases, this entire expression is taken to mean that we "obey Allah and the Messenger". The term وَٱلرَّسُولَ "we -r-Resūle" is, according to its grammatical form, a noun, masculine, in the singular, of a specific form, which means that it refers to something defined, so it is claimed that the term لرَّسُولَ "e-r-Resūle" refers to a person who has the role of God's messenger. The question arises, is this really so? Let's think logically. The first of the people who received this order from God was Mohammed a.s. We will agree that this order applies to everyone and no one is exempt from it. So, Mohammad a.s. like all others, Allah commands "all of you obey Allah and the رسول (Rasūl". The question arises as to who is the Rasūl in this case to whom Mohammad a.s. is indebted. subdue? رسول is the product of root letters ر س ل It seems to me that the term رسول (rasūl) in the Qur'an refers to the Message it self that Allah sends, not a person. If we were to follow this understanding, then Allah commands Mohammad, peace be upon him. and all the others to obey Allah and the Message, which is quite understandable, because how else could Mohammed a.s. and all the rest obey Allah without knowing about Allahs Message. It should be borne in mind that the passive participle with the letter mim (م‎) is used in the Qur'an to indicate the passive bearer of the action, so we have the expressions mu'minun, muslimun, mutteqin, muhajirun, mushrikun, etc. In surah Ja-sin it is said about Mohammad a.s. إِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ - innake le min al-mur'selin "Truly, you are from the messengers" ‎459 ىاىها O you الذىن the ones امنوا believes ye of اطىعوا obeys ye of الله the God واطىعوا and obeys ye of الرسول the messenger واولى and owners الامر the directive (dispatch) منكم among you (pl.) فان so if تنزعتم dispute you (pl.) فى in شى thing فردوه so refer it الى towards الله the God والرسول and the messenger ان if كنتم be you (pl.) تومنون believing بالله in the God والىوم and the day الاخر the afterlife/last ذلك such خىر best واحسن and very best توىلا elucidation of ‎2454 قل say اطىعوا obeys ye of الله the God واطىعوا and obeys ye of الرسول the messenger فان so if تولوا turn ye of فانما so solely علىه upon him ما what حمل burden وعلىكم and upon you (pl.) ما what حملتم burden yours (pl.) وان and if تطىعوه obey ye him تهتدوا thou guided ye of وما and not على upon الرسول the messenger الا except البلغ the conveyance المبىن the clear ‎3340 ما not كان be محمد Muhammad (whom be praise) ابا father احد anyone من of رجلكم menfolk yours ولكن and however رسول messenger الله the God وخاتم and stamp (seal) النبىىن the prophets وكان and be الله the God بكل in every شى thing علىما knower of

One subject relevant and of interest for its audience is Anthropology. It is the scientific study of humanity, concerned with human behaviour, human biology, cultures, societies and linguistics, in both the present and past. And genealogy is the science of studying family history. Genealogists compile lists of ancestors. Thereby, in view of aforementioned claim, it is unthinkable that genealogy of the group of Men declared ever exalted in space-time over the entire created realm would have been neglected mention. إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ ٱصْطَفَىٰٓ ءَادَمَ وَنُوحٙا Indeed, Allah the Exalted had granted distinction and elevated stature to Adam , and to Noah — وَءَالَ إِبْرَٟهِيـمَ وَءَالَ عِمْرَٟنَ And to the clan of Iebra'heim and the clan of Imr'aan; — عَلَـى ٱلْعَٟلَمِيـنَ .٣٣ This distinction and preference was over their contemporaries in the world. ذُرِّيَّةَۢ بَعْضُهَا مِنۢ بَعْضٛۗ Those clans(of Iebra'heim and Imr'aan) some of them were the progeny belonging to some dynasty. وَٱللَّهُ سَـمِيعٌ عَلِيـمٌ .٣٤ Be mindful, Allah the Exalted is eternally the Listener, the Fountain of Knowledge - Setter of sciences. Here the fact about grant of distinction (ٱصْطَفَىٰٓ) is not with reference to selection of particular Galaxy of Men (ٱلنَّبِيِّــۦنَ) as evident by the mention of clans (ءَالَ) of two dignitaries. The distinction individually granted to Iebra'heim alai'his'slaam is earlier mentioned وَمَن يَرْغَبُ عَن مِّلَّةِ إِبْرَٟهِـۦمَ إِلَّا مَن سَفِهَ نَفْسَهُۥۚ Be thoughtful; Who is he who would avert inclination away from the Prescribed Procedural Code of the Community of Iebra'heim ? None turns-averts his inclination away except the one who made fool of himself. وَلَقَدِ ٱصْطَفَيْنَـٟهُ فِـى ٱلدُّنْيَاۖ Be mindful; Our Majesty had with pleasure selected and elevated him in this World. وَإِنَّهُۥ فِـى ٱلۡءَاخِـرَةِ لَمِنَ ٱلصَّٟلِحِيـنَ .١٣٠ Of course, he is certainly one of the most distinguished in the ranks of the Righteous-the Perfectionists in the Hereafter. https//haqeeqat.pk/TranslationCommunicationHistory.htm Peace Brother Mazhar.. Peace friends. Thanks Wakas for your post. I find that I benefit more from working with others in my study of Qoran. GOD s words are deeper and stronger than the simple one word meaning in any translation. I find Qoran s words richer and detailed than just picking a single word to translate a sentence word for word, The more people get together for study of Qoran ,the more learning each gets out of it. If we take your example of 2941 brother Wakas ,one can use a number of words that can fit and explain the details more like 2941 The allegory/example of those who take/make/rely on/ accept other masters beside God is like that of the spider and her home- that she makes/takes and relies on( for her livelihood);- the flimsiest/weakest of all homes is the home of the spider, if they only knew.*. مَثَلُ الَّذينَ اتَّخَذوا مِن دونِ اللَّهِ أَولِياءَ كَمَثَلِ العَنكَبوتِ اتَّخَذَت بَيتًا وَإِنَّ أَوهَنَ البُيوتِ لَبَيتُ العَنكَبوتِ لَو كانوا يَعلَمونَ Group study is necessary for more views/ideas and comparisons of how others understand Qoran. Especially people with different skills and specialities/expertise. of different practical skills and different qualifications. GOD bless you all. Peace.

Mumin was when they obeyed all of it and followed their messenger, but the aamanoo didn't reach it yet. Exactly... That's right but don't say they didn't believe... Allah never calls O you who Mumeen... Do this and do that and avoid this etc...

That's why I even not consider any of the translation for verse 2240 correct. All their assumptions.... Ninenkf those words are physical buildings... But they are actions.. Seclusion/Spiritual Retreat 2) Allegiance /bond 3) Blessings / Support 4) state of submission... All conventional translations makes no sense to me at all... Masaajed is not plural of Masjed .. Never.. Bring all masajed verses they all befit with state of submission.... Thank you everyone.. I did argue on this topic stating Salawat cannot be Churches but couldn't find the topic...
