Hi! It is really funny to see a hadith follower (Halis Aydemir is a Turkish hadith follower but as I understand from his latest videos he do not accept all hadith ) that choose one of the Qıra'at as the true one. I thought they were following every Qıra'at. I tried the system on other versions. Didnt work. Feel free to run your test. I did research Qıra'at also. I think its history is artificial.

Salaam Tanweer and all I do not think the verse says ""marry off". It is "marry". The verb is a bit problematic, because it could mean both, but in Arabic, you "marry off " the male, not the female. Look at verse 2221 where we have this verb. It says "do not marry the female mushriks...and do not marry off the male mushriks". The verb is different because it is in the present tense, hence the "tunki7 marry off; tanki7 marry. But when it is in the command (unki7u) it is the same for both meanings. Marrying the mothers of the orphans is conditioned by the ability to provide for them, and not by being fair. (Being just is obligatory, not a condition, even if one has only one wife, or none). This marriage may not be consummated, so they will be "milkul yameen". That's why they do not show in the verses of inheritance (nor does milkul yameen). It is not a normal marriage, but a marriage to protect the pride and dignity of the orphans, least people would demand why this man is providing for them, and this would hurt the mother, and so the children. Hi! I saw this tread and it is not Kong time ago so sprey for writing this answer right know. However I want to ask you a question You said it is used tunkihu if it refers to men and tenkihu if it refers women In chapter 2 verse 230 it says tenkiha zevcen gayrah so the woman marry (tenkihu) another Man that means in this verse tenkihu refers to man I do not know Arabic If in this verse it is refers to man (and is used tenkihu) then there is no rule that we can say it is tenkihu when it is refers to women and tunkihu when it refers to men I would like to know your ideas about it since I do not know Arabic.
  • Quranic view of the creation process : Earth/Land and Mountains

All things like rocks and plants outside are linked to earth. Thats a general thing. Mountains do mimick plants.Neither of them can stay without roots. Mountains must push themselves downward to the mantle as a way to manage their weight and height. Iceberg behaves the same way. Some mountains are apparently still under the earth surface. That said, I think your last line is quite intriguing and should be scientifically researched. At the end of the day, many natural things we take for granted indeed came from space. Peace reel, I just expose what the Quran inform us about his vision of the Creation (trying to be neutral). Modern science already DEMONSTRATE how the moutains are born (part of the earth, not separated with it). On this aspect, the vision of the Quran is different. But as a believer I don't mind that WHEN the Qur'anic word is placed in its original environment (avoiding anachronism). NB Mazhar has understood the creation of the mountains from a Qur'anic perspective (point 1 - http//haqeeqat.pk/Mountains.htm) " firmly grounded anchors were not created in the universe but were inserted in the Earth which means it were the materials "imported" into the Earth. They were inserted and placed in such manner that they are over her surface and firmly grounded downwards within the Earth." BUT unfortunately, on point 2 (quoting verse ), he is mistaken because the discourse analysis of the context is eschatological (cf. verses 2787-90).

  • Can todays dictionaries help us to understand Quran

I wonder how can we really understand the arabic text by someone's translation ? And also Are todays dictionaries the same with 1400 years ago? Languages can change often so how can we be sure about translations? Consider the dictionaries and knowing Arabic to be just starting point. You can actually test the translations in real life to see what they are exactly saying. Nature just responds. Some things are hidden right inside the body. Even they begin to rise up putting rest to many controversies and disagreements. Ironically, most of those hidden things are just open secrets in other religions.

Salam. Here are the sources which have convinced me that the Quran does refer to the luni-solar calendar (not solar nor lunar) https//corpus.quran.com/wordbyword.jsp?chapter=10&verse=5#(1051) <= Quran specifies that we should determine days and years with SOLAR AND LUNAR https//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9609543.0 <= Slightly skeptical about the two free-minds articles and I'll explain below why https//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9607570.10 https//www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdUFIL-swwo https//corpus.quran.com/wordbyword.jsp?chapter=2&verse=185#(218517) <= Quran doesn't specify the month when we should fast https//docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vSv3c1kawk5AQZoYybMGSKzTsPLHPaJa6LVd5WHmefBpld_Wi4RTKDIMxdoC7zUZu75RZegZMDkxntc/pub <= Luni-solar calendar However, it is also worth considering that this verse states " اللَّهِ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًا" which, albeit I can't read arabic, translates to 12 months (according to most translation websites and corpus), and the luni-solar calendar is 13 months https//corpus.quran.com/wordbyword.jsp?chapter=9&verse=36#(9366) I also don't quite understand the meaning behind the "four that are sacred" months, and I'm confused--does this verse indicate that there are 12 months in general or that Allah created everything within 12 months? I think it's rather unfair that those in the arctic who'd want to be muslim would have to fast literally 24 hours if the lunar calendar is to be followed in reference to the solar calendar. It's also worth noting that, in reference to the 12 months, the solar calendar is 12 months and the lunar calendar is rather confusing but both are 12 months. Which could Allah be referring to? I personally don't believe in hadiths, obviously respect those who do because to each to its own--religion is very personal. But according to the Quran, has Allah specified when exactly is ramadan? I gather from the verses that a month hasn't been specified and a specific type of calendar hasn't been specified but it has been mentioned that Allah created everything within 12 months and that we should determine dates by both the sun and moon. So frustrating and I really want to know--I wish I could read Arabic! Historically, muslim nations (from King Solomon's, one of our prophet's, times) have also been using the lunisolar calendar (https//www.britannica.com/science/calendar/Ancient-and-religious-calendar-systems#ref313439). Also, in reference to the free-minds forums that I'm skeptical about, Laylatul Qadr does not translate to Equinox night at all! I mean, the night (nox) part does, but other than that, decree doesn't. In all fairness, I'm not sure, because a lot of people on that thread who do speak Arabic clarified some details regarding root words in that they do believe it translates to equinox. But, equi means horse in Latin, and equinox comes from the latin root world aequal ! Those who speak Arabic, could you please confirm with me if Laylatul Qadr has any form of meaning that indicates EQUI(aequal)nox at all? I feel like that'd clarify a lot to me regarding Ramadan. I'm very much inclined to believe that it is the lunisolar calendar, just because the Quran tells us to determine dates and years by both the sun and the moon. I'll most likely be fasting, according to this, in September. It's not for my ease, as I don't live in a cold country (matter-of-fact it'd be rather inconvenient as well due to the wonderful festive ramadan celebrations that'd be occurring around me during the months when people do normally fast), but I've just overtime come to believe that a lot of what I've believed regarding Islam doesn't match up with the Quran itself. Hence, if someone could provide some facts and actual translations with root words about Ramadan, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you! Perhaps search WHAT is Ramadan rather than wondering WHEN is Ramadan... anyway.. Fasting is not mandatory to reach Janna... But surely it will increase the faith to the level of muttaqun.. Do one has to fast every year certain number of days or a month.. I have no clue.. I have asked certain knowledgeable people in this forum Alsonread many articles.. But I prefer after all to fast three minimum days on hottest days of the year.. Certainly I did fast one month conventionally from my childhood up until 2019... Not anymore.. But still searching.. There is no Arabic months in Quran that for sure in my understanding.. Thank you.

Reference post I am just compiling the list of Qs into one post as I may refer to it in future discussions etc From http//mypercept.co.uk/articles/meaning-of-SuJuD-from-Quran.html For those who consider "sujud" to mean "physical prostration" Re SJD to/for adam/mankind - 234, 711-12, 1529-32, 1761, 1850, 20116, 3872-76 Issue if taken as a commonly understood physical prostration, it seems odd that angels/controllers or iblees (made of 'smokeless fire&#039 could do this in a defined physical visible form, but it is possible - what is your view? Re 2218, 556 - SJD to/for God who is in the heavens/earth, and the sun/moon/stars/mountains/trees/creatures and many of the people 1315 ...to/for God SJD who is in the heavens and the earth, willingly and unwillingly, and their shadows in the mornings and late-afternoons. Issue Contextually implying that the same SJD is done by the shadows as well as who is in the heavens/earth, meaning it is unlikely for it to mean prostrate here - what is the "sujud" of inanimate objects? If we accept that someone may prostrate physically (nose and forehead on ground) willingly, how can we understand this unwillingly? Does God push people on their faces forcefully so that they fall down on their noses and foreheads unwillingly? Re 1648-50 Can they not look to a thing God created? Its shadow turns to the right and the left, SuJaD to/for God and/while they are humble. Issues If we take the above as prostrations/prostrating (as some translations do), then this would clearly imply that no matter which direction the shadow faces it is STILL prostrating to/for God, i.e. God is everywhere, which links with "to God belongs the east and west so wherever you turn there is God's face/regard", see 2115. This strongly and clearly implies direction is irrelevant here - what is your view on this? Since SJD is in the Arabic plural (more than two) we can infer that each and every point in the shadow's movement is a SJD. How is it showing this SJD? Re 2724 "And I found her and her people SJuD to/for the sun instead of God! And the devil had made their works/deeds appear good to them, so averting/hindering them from the path, so they are not guided." 2725 "Will they not SJuD to/for God who brings out what is hidden in the heavens and the Earth, and He knows what you hide and what you declare?" Issues Note it says the hoopoe "found" (wajad) them, not "saw" (raayt) them as in Joseph's dream in which he saw the moon/sun/planets SJD to/for him. Of course, moon/sun/planets do not physically prostrate as humans do, so what Joseph saw was something else - how were the sun/moon/planets giving sujud to Joseph? So let us assume it means a traditional prostration in 2724, how can one identify whom the prostration is done to? Re 8421-22 And when the Quran/reading is recited to them, they do not SJuD. No, those who have rejected/concealed are denying. Issue Interestingly, if sujud=prostration here then this implies God wishes the audience to not only accept what is said but ALSO get down on their hands and knees and prostrate physically (to whom/what?). This seems unusual. What is your understanding of this? Re 4829 Muhammad is the messenger of God, and those who are with him are stern against the concealers/rejecters/ingrates, but merciful between themselves. You see them inclining/humbling and SuJaD, seeking bounty from God and pleasure/approval. Their distinction is in their faces/attentions/considerations/wills/purposes, from the trace/teaching/influence of the SuJuD. Issues Perhaps the majority of people would not have a trace of prostration on their face from physically prostrating in prayer for example, even if it was done many times per day, so this understanding, whilst superficially plausible, actually falls short - what is your view? It should be noted that in the prior context, 4825, it clearly implies some believers were unknown/unrecognisable, which makes it even more unlikely it is referring to a physical mark on one's face - response? Re 258, 4154, 7161 ...enter the gate SuJuD Issue Clearly they cannot enter the gate prostrating - response? 8 ) Re Re 7120, 2070, 2646 2070 Then the magicians were cast* SuJaD. They said "We believe in the Lord of Aaron and Moses." *Arabic uL'QiYa is in the passive perfect form, meaning the object (i.e. magicians) received the action expressed in the verb, an action done/completed upon them. Using cross-reference the most likely meaning of this word is "cast" and is a likely play on words due to the casting done in the previous context. Issues IF it is translated as physically thrown/cast down (as done in most translations), since it is passive, then one must ask who/what physically threw them down? The answer is of course nothing/no-one, they did it themselves, thus a physical throwing/casting interpretation becomes illogical. To negate this point, an example similar to this in AQ using another passive verb would have to be cited. Further, looking at the following verses, is it likely they made a statement whilst physically prostrating on the ground? - yes/no/unsure Re 6842-43 The day the shin shall be exposed/uncovered/removed, and they will be called to the SuJuD but they will not be able. Their looks/eyes humbled/lowered, humiliation will cover them. And indeed they were called to the SuJuD while they were sound/well. Issue It should be noted that having one's shin removed is unlikely to prevent one from doing a physical prostration, hence some translators claiming they will be unable to prostrate simply due to their shame, but if this is the case, the obvious question becomes why mention a shin at all? - response? Re 17107-109 Say "Believe in it or do not believe in it. Those who have been given the knowledge before it, when it is recited to them, they fall to their chins SuJaD." Issue do you take it as a physical prostration to the chin or not, or something else? Re 8420-22 So what is the matter with them that they do not believe? And when the quran/reading is being recited to them, they do not SJuD. No, those who rejected/concealed are denying. 3215 Only they believe in Our signs whom when they are reminded by them, they fall SuJaD, and glorify with praise of their Lord, and they are not arrogant. Issue this clearly suggests that whenever Quran is recited the audience should physically prostrate - what is your view? Re 4102 ...and thou uphold/establish the salat/bond for/to them, then let a group from among them stand/uphold//establish with thee and let them bring their weapons; then when they have SaJaD then let them be behind you (plural)... Issues ---it would imply that salat ends upon SJD, but if salat=prayer and SJD=prostration here, then we know traditional Muslim prayer has at least two prostrations per unit of prayer, not one, thus the verse by itself is not clear or does not make sense. The only way for it to make some sense would be to say traditional Muslim prayer normally consists of two prostrations, and since it is during wartime this can be reduced to one prostration. There is no such thing as a unit of prayer according to The Quran, nor do traditional Muslims do it in this manner (i.e. prayer does not end with prostration), but this explanation is just to show what sense could be made of this verse according to the traditional understanding. ---it implies that one must take AND hold their weapons/goods with them (by use of 'tadaAAoo / lay down', later in the verse), but if it is understood as traditional Muslim prayer then physically bowing, kneeling and prostrating like this would be impractical and somewhat dangerous, e.g. prostrating with swords! ---it says if impeded by rain or illness then one can lay down weapons but does not say anything about being excluded from prostrating. So the obvious question becomes what kind of rain/illness would prevent one from carrying weapons yet allow one to physically prostrate? It would seem there is no easy answer to this problem. ---We are also left with another problem, because if we accept that the regular/timed salat involves recitation of AQ which is strongly evidenced by AQ itself, and agreed upon by almost all , then we know we are commanded to SJD when it is relayed to us , but if we were to do this in the regular/timed salat and we know salat ends with SJD according to 4102 then it would last less than 20 seconds! Views on these 4 issues? i like the above question... you know why coz i have asked those questions to my self while reading those verses... it is strange that another person also feels same way and asking the same questions.. today only i happened to read these questions but i have asked to myself perhaps 7 years before... is believer not a believer if he doesn't physically prostrate? well that's what those who prostrate physically assume... anyway those who don't physically prostrate are not arrogant ... they do humble... Allah knows best....

Peace Euphoric, I am grateful for your reply. But perhaps you can consider to reread the book. Because the book is not your average intellectual pandering to western colonialism. This is evident by a few excerpts from page 288 in the book. Please read these excerpts from the book. At a more fundamental level—and nearly two centuries after Muslims’ encounter with modernity and its carriers, the European powers—today’s reformist thinkers are still grappling with the same basic conundrum, namely the causes of the Muslim world’s decline, which led to its domination by the European powers; and its current state of stagnation compared not only to Western societies but also to non-European countries such as Japan and China. Just as early reformists asked what had made Muslims “colonizable,” today’s reformist thinkers are asking what has kept them dependent and vulnerable. Like their predecessors, they are keenly aware of Muslim governments’ continued economic and political dependency on the great powers, even after decades of official independence, and Muslim societies’ increased vulnerability to external pressures and attacks. Moreover, they know very well that, because of the advent of globalization and the communications revolution, the nature of these pressures has become more complex and opaque and hence more difficult to deal with. They see Muslims’ current predicament as a direct consequence of economic and political underdevelopment; the lack of basic civil and political freedoms, leading to a closed and stagnant intellectual environment inimical to any kind of progress; the lack of serious religious thinking and ijtihad, which has left the religious field in the hands of conservatives and radical Muslims; the instrumentalization of religion by both governments and opposition groups for political purposes and repression; and the lack of sufficient popular legitimacy of the ruling elites, and hence their vulnerability to external influences. Muslim reformists favor open and multidimensional interaction between Muslim societies and the outside world. At the same time they are concerned that, given vast disparities between their respective countries’ capacities at every level and in every field of human activity and those of global economic and political actors, such interaction would occur within the confines of an uneven playing field. They fear that the outcome of such interaction could be either total absorption into a dominant global culture and the loss of indigenous cultural identity and/or the reactive strengthening of destructive nativist trends of a religious or secular variety.

peace smith007 I hope all is well Indeed it is a beautiful verse, as is all the Quran I think the verse is less metaphorical than thought, but rather an example of what is .. I understand the niche to be … the Throne of The God the lamp is.. The God and the radiant glass encasing the lamp is … His light He is giving us an example of Himself and His Throne by using the niche lamp and radiant glass as examples same for surah 86, i think the “tariq” is gabriel who in the next verse is described .. the piercing star.. i believe gabriel is sirius star (i think he is inside the star and it glows with his light) stars glow with the lights of angels? perhaps dont know … remember angels tell us they have places of stationing .. i think angels are within stars djins also used to sit in places of lostening… stars? of course i may be completely wrong, The God knows the truth peace

author=Emre_1974tr link=topic=9611564.msg434931#msg434931 date=1632867768] Everyone believes in Allah and the verses and strictly abides by what they say There would be no such thing as murder on earth. There's no such a thing as theft. Fraud would also be history. Don't lie, slander, and don't say bad words. Wars would disappear. All forms of violence on earth would disappear. Interest-usury, etc. There would be no gain by harming others. There would be freedom of economic enterprise and the right of property. People to be so respectful to each other that they not pass without greeting each other. All the countries of the world would join hands and compete only to create a better world for humanity. The world would be like a single country, and the freedom of movement and settlement would be at the highest level throughout the world. Since there would be no adultery, every child was born and raised in a family environment. Private companies etc. the powers thought of the interests and pleasure of not only their own, but all people, and they produced beauties in this direction. Even the poorest person in the world could spend weeks in 5-star hotels. It would advance in science, technology, art and democracy more than we can even imagine now. All people lived and helped each other in line with the "real interests" of both themselves and the whole world. Nature was preserved. Diseases, injuries and even aging would be largely prevented. Goodness, peace, happiness and all material-spiritual riches-comfort would cover every place. This world would be like Paradisely, and in the hereafter, you one would be one of the winners. Emre Karakose (Emre_1974tr) (My Turkish writing translated with machine) http//emre1974tr.blogspot.com/2011/07/eger-herkes-ayetlerin-dedigini-yapsayd.html Salam brother What you said brother was never be and and is not be and will never be. From the word get go I call it the heavenly feud is that they will be those who obey God and who disobey God. Hell was crated for those who followed the devil. So this question of what if will not be there. This is my humble opinion God bless you all

peace, all languages billions (they’re not all dumb) speaking English "heart" symbolizes individual emotion as in Albanian "zemra" to Slavic "srce" to Zulu "inhliziyo" not always the physical pump. Likewise, the same with "fuadu" and "qalb" CONTEXTE is your friend! 2810 واصبح and became فواد fuadu/heart (inner emotion) ام mother موسى Musa فارغا empty of (hopeless) ان indeed كادت near she لتبدى to disclose به in him لولا if not ان that ربطنا strengthened we of على upon قلبها qalbiha/heart (mind/persona) hers لتكون to she being من of المومنىن the believers (masculine plural) Yes the verse 2810 expresses very well the richness and the subtlety of the Arabic language. 2 words which are, to my knowledge, always translated, in classical translations, by the word "heart" (fuadu and qalbiha) whereas they are two words with different roots which are used. al Fouad would come from fahada which contains the meaning of "to cook" => thus here, in context, a "heart which burns", by the fact of having thrown/abandoned its child on water (one feels its emotion/inner state) al Qalb would come from taqaloub which contains the meaning of "turning-revering-inverting-changing of a thing, its mode or manner of being". => Faced with the situation Musa's mother was balancing between two emotional and intellectual antagonistic inner states trust and fear. So, if God had not strengthened her "heart/alQalb" she could have disclosed everything (reversed God's plan), fear taking over.

Dear folks, Am only a learner and not at all wise as you all are. Following is not my opinion but I found in some other site the explanation of verse 171, and thought of sharing as is, food for though. It’s talking about prophet night journey from Makkah to Medina during the troubled time. 171 The atmosphere in Makkah had become unbearable for the Jama at-ul-Momineen and there was a little hope that the message of Islam would be accepted by those who had not only rejected it but planned to kill the Rasool.) Limitless glory to Allah who moved his devotee one night from the sacred mosque (of Makkah) to the farthest mosque (in Madina - where atmosphere was much more conducive) and its environs We had blessed. The purpose of the migration was that the promises made by Allah with him in Makkah should be fulfilled. Most certainly Allah is all Hearing and All- Seeing (20/23). (Therefore every decision of His is based on Knowledge and Wisdom.) 172 (Hijra is not a new phenomenon. It was part of the programme of almost all the Rusul. It played an especially prominent part in the case of Moses.) Moses was given the book for the guidance of the Bani-Isr ael enjoining them not to take for guidance, any one but Allah. 173 They were the posterity of those whom were rescued along with Noah, who was a grateful servant (Rasool) of Allah. Any one think it has substance.? Regards

The entire notion of God(s) wrote a book only exist in the western hemisphere. I mean the notion of there's such thing as book written by God vis-a-vis books that are NOT written by God. Such SEPARATION is key to promote the SUPERIORITY of specific books as such that the other books are INFERIOR because it was not written by God. Such notion was started or invented in Mesopotamia by the Babylonian (today's Iraq). And it's discussed in length here Mesopotamia The Birthplace Of Military, Empire and Religion https//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9610198.0 Due to it's 'success' in terms of controlling the populace, it was then regarded as 'best practices' and then followed by subsequent empire / kingdom. Including Persian Empire, Egyptian Empire, Judean Kingdom, Roman Empire and Arab Caliphate to name a few. PS In regards to "Indian Holy Scriptures" there are many scriptures in what's known today as India, but no one really promote a dogma that any of it was 'written by God' as such that the other books was 'NOT written by God'. For example the book titled Veda was initially compiled by Vyasa and so does the highly regarded scriptures such as the Gita which was part of an epic works titled Mahabharata supposedly also compiled by Vyasa. Indeed, God informed us there are people who wrote The Book with their hands and claiming it is from God for a small gain. And among them are ummi who do not know The Book except by hearsay, and they only conjecture. So woe to those who write The Book with their hands then say "This is from God," so that they can purchase with it a cheap price! Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they gained. Those people who wrote The Book with their own hands were basically taking advantage of the fact that among Bani Israil (people who are given The Book) are ummi. Ummi do not know The Book except by hearsay hence they are prone to be deceived (to understand how prone they are to be deceived, just observe how majority of Sunni nowadays are deceived to believe that for example stoning adulterers are from God). Things to note is the gain is not small. Those people who wrote The Book with their own hands were able to come to power, control the masses, reach high status in society, accumulate wealth, etc. The reason God calls it small gain is because they will end up in hell being tortured.

Quran does possess the tools to fix every problem, but the problem needs to be identified and the tools have to be recognized. I don't think the book titled Quran can even possess anything let alone using tools. However, YOU do possess the tools to fix every issues. I agree with the later part, problem need to be identified correct tools need to be applied. And not the other way around.. "When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like nails". -- Maslow The Quran does provide healing better than any other healer could ever manage, but it always requires intelligence and humility. The healing is there for free for those who may extract it through the use of their intelligence, The Quran is a book it cannot provide any healing. However YOU do. The best healer for every patient is the patient him/her self. And yes it's available for free and it does requires certain dose of 'spiritual intelligence' and does mandates love, compassion and humility. Look inside your own self, you are more divine than any book. What was performed by Jesus and his friends can also be performed by YOU. And certainly Jesus did not require any book either.

The notions of exaltation in God vs Satan are antithetical to each other, and also very toxic to the mental health of a human being. As per my understanding, given to the context that there is only one God. And God here is defined as the source and creator of everything. The conception of God has 'enemies' by itself is illogical thus a contradiction. And religion named these 'enemies of God', which is illogical by itself, as Satan. This is comparable of saying George Lucas is in conflict with Darth Vader JRR Tolkien is in conflict with Sauron Walt Disney is in conflict with Mickey Mouse The author is in conflict with one of it's own creation/character. I concur that entertaining such illogicality / contradiction can be very toxic to the mental health. Yet that's actually the objective of Religion in the first place. Religion can be easily understood once it's accepted and viewed as political tools. Then every contradiction / illogicality within religion starting to 'make sense'. Why God needs an enemy? (as told in religion) In order to rally the people to fight against the 'enemy of God'. (which usually are people with different king, leader, empire, nationality, tribe, race, ideology, religion, opinion or any form of identity) Politics need a conflict, thus without 'any enemy' and 'a fight against it', politics will have a crisis of existency. When there's no enemy / adversary / competitor there's no need of politics.
