Salam, And sabo it doesn't mean we shouldn't try translating ,we may not be as proficient as you but it doesn't mean we should just take what comes from arabs or others as such-There is a good lesson in your history Br. Well then learn the arabic from the chinese or the british, they might help you, and I didn't say you shouldn't translate, go ahead if you wish. It's not my business what you do, I just state my opinion about a translation or a method of translation. That's all good luck, sabo

peace Verse 22 This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah; This is one of the many verses where readers find that God mentions the word fear. According to the above verse, the first condition to guidance from the book of God is to fear God.Very simple? I think it is not. In everyday life we fear of getting up late for work or business, fear of what will happen in work, what need to be cleared, fear of of our bosses frowns if we did not meet their objectives or targets and so on... Even if we do everything in pefect, there is something we fear about. If there is someone in this room that do not fear anything at all then i think they have elevated to a position or station of peace. Even in our prophet times, the first battle our prophet fought, there are evidences in the quran that the prophet was not at peace and God assured the prophet of victory.Maybe some readers may quote this ayat from the quran. If the program on 'fear factor' is still on in the media, then the majority here knows what i am talking about. In other words, each of us fear something or someone at a point in time. God created everything. What is the proof? Quran says so. That is proof enough for us. Even if we get to experience the fear from every ambit of this creation that is not the whole fear. It is because creation is created by the creator. So it is best to fear the one who created us among the billions of fear impulses we get every day. We have to leave everything to God to make our lives comfortable in this world and in the hereafter. For example if a billionare leave a portion of his wealth to us what is our next thinking will be. Of course fear of ever losing it or we being kidnapped by someone. So we take the next step of building a castle guarded by armies and get insured in case being kidnapped and so on. Let us be realistic. In every ultimate happiness there is fear beneath it. So in whatever station we are now, we ask God to make us fear God and make us be nearer to God. Apologise for long talk. Salaamun alaikum Kyle, Book of life fits well enough, I think. Also, don't forget that al-kitab IS al-hikmah as well. (this is found in 2/231). Al-hikmah in my understanding, are the underlying laws in the universe.

Peace be upon you El-Aziz, Be careful as you venture down this road, for the God has decribed "thier number" (19) as a trial for the disbelievers. Second, since Free-Minds is just a forum, not one person can speak for "Free-Minds" in regards to wether they believe a certain concept or not. Speaking for myself, I used to believe in the "19" trial, now I no longer subscribe to it. When one realizes that the numbering of verses was done later, it destroys this whole "miracle". Further, the need to remove verses so that it will work speaks volumes.

I wrote to the e mail adress posted by sabo(thanks sabo) and heres the response i got Dear Mr. Zlatan, There is no difference between first and the second edition. We were sold out of the first edition and this is the 2nd printing done with same quality, and 1010 pages - although few typo errors have been taken care off - and infact, this 2nd printing is improved version - but no difference in content otherwise. We have no copies left out of the first printing. Thank you. Customer Care From Zlatan [email protected] To [email protected] Subject The differences between the first and second edition of Quranic Dictionary Date Tue, 07 Sep 2004 202200 +0200 Helo.. Peace... I am writing to you in regards of the Dictionary of the Holy Quran, by Abdul Omar Mannan, Abdul Mannan Omar... I believe you are its publishers... I am particularly interested to know the difference between the first and the second edition of the book.... The first edition have had around 680 pages and the second edition has, according to the information at amazon.com, 1010 pages http//www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0963206788/ref=sib_err_dp/103-8182280-6425464?%5Fencoding=UTF8&no=283155&me=ATVPDKIKX0DER&st=books however if you surf through the book at the site it appears that it also has only 680 pages(or its because they only had the first edition scaned to show?) Is there any difference in content or its just the different format of printing? do you have any web site? I am impatiently waiting to hear from you best wishes, Zlatan best wishes to all, Zlatan

Anything but the clear verses Wakas. wink Peace! Chapter 10 66. Certainly, to God belongs all who are in the heavens and those who are on Earth. As for those who call on partners besides God, they only follow conjecture, and they only guess. 67. He is the One who made the night for you to reside in, and the day to see. In that are signs for a people who listen. 68. They said ?God has taken a son.? Be He glorified!, He is the Rich. To Him is what is in the heavens and what is in the Earth. Do you have proof for this? Or do you say about God what you do not know?

Peace be upon you, do admit things are symbolic, but i hesitate to classify what is and what is not. Clearly GOD said some are and some are not, and i feel secure to classify what is symbolic and allegory when GOD himself classify it as such. I will admit that are indeed things in the koran that are symbolic when GOD doesnt speficially label as such as well. Yes, so we must use reason in order to apply the symbolisms in the correct place. I would state that areas like turning sticks into snakes, which certainly do not happen, must be classified as symbolic language. The fact that some of the symbolisms have been used before the this reading(quran) strengthens that case. Quote What other understanding can you have about the God except through symbolism? No vision can encompass Him. through is creation as well. Not all things about GOD must be understood through symbolisim. Everything is a symbol (sign). My greatest concern with a all symbolic approach is limitation. when do you stop and when do you continue? Thats what we must find out. When to applied it and when does the aplication of it is wrong? Plus, how do you verify it? Truth stands out clear from falsehood. The more we study and ponder the clearer it will become. These question encourages me to not use the symbloic approach on all koran verses. verse 37 encourages me not to approach all verses as symbolic. Verses like "be kind to your parents" or "give charity to the poor" etc. I find it to be mostly the stories of the people before us that have come in symbolic form.

Most excellent... Just what I thought....your Koran in no way, shape, or forms "corrects" the Book of Revelation... Thanks for showing this truth to all of us.. With all due resepect, perhaps in the future, you will think twice before making the silly claim that the Koran "corrects" Biblical scripture...and then, when confronted with the challenge to back up your claim, you fall flat on your face... Take care...

Salaams waqas, Thats a good job,i actually missed that in those ayats. By the way i still don't think it is the clothes thingy, beacause if it was the clothes and not the sexual activities (called your private times),then what happened to us asking those in our right hands or those who havn't reached their age for permission if and when they change their clothing - they must do that-surely?Its adult activities so they are the only ones who need the permision from -i think. Thanks for that.

Did Allah provide you the details in Al-Quran as how to perfrom the ritual prayer that you do, yes or no? If not, where did you get those details? Did Allah provide you the details for modest clothing as in what body parts beside the private areas should not be expose, yes or no? If not, where did you get those details? Did Allah, ever tell you to call Him..Akbar? Can you find any ayat where Allah defines Himself as...Allahu Akbar? Did Allah, ever tell you to call the Koran..Spiritual guidance? Can you find any ayat where Allah defines the Koran as...Spiritual Guidance? If you cannot do these things, then you are following the guidance of others and what they've ascribed to Allah, and not what Allah has ascribed to Himself. To do that is shirk, which, is the highest crime an individual can commit, because Allah does not forgive it.

Here's free-Minds translation http//www.free-minds.org/quran/quran.htm You can also goto http//free-minds.org/quran.htm for some useful links as well in studying the Quran. Submission.org is a good site in my opinion but it makes the same mistake as SUnnis and Shias do and practically every other religion, saying that thier way of doing things is the proper way, to secretarian for me. I find it odd that they reject the hadiths but they still use the hadiths to define how to pray and carry out hajj. May God guide you in your search for truth. pz

Peace be upon you all, The God created all things in PAIRS. The God wants us to recognize the male and female principle in ALL THINGS, iincluding each and every one of us. Each of us contains BOTH the male and female principle. Now, we see very clearly that the this reading(quran) is addresed maily to "men". That is because the message itself is of the masculine principle, like a seed being planted in a womb. The human, compared to the message, would be the "female" principle" who recieved the seed and brings forth a "son" (virgin birth). That "son" can give life to the dead, heal the blind, heal the sick, etc. Wether we say "woman" or "that which comes later", they both fit in this analysis. Please check this article based on THAT WHICH CAME BEFORE . Keep in mind that the God says that this reading(quran) confirms that which came before it. http//www.gnostic.org/kybalionhtm/kybalion13.htm
