Yes brother Cyberus, we mostly fall into the trap of throwing the baby with the bath water. Sunnis do salat, hence salat is a fabricated thing, sunnis do sawm ,sunnis do such and such...etc hence if we do them,we are no different ! Now, sunnis, like many other religions are mixing and matching. We need to apply GOD s words to our life using GOD s message ,our eyes, ears and brain ( yes some good logic) to separate the baby from the bath water ,then throw the dirty bath water as far away as we possibly can. A sincere heart ,a lot of good intentions along with GOD s guidance are a must. May the Lord guide His sincere followers to the truth. GOD bless. Peace.

In first ayet about "fasting" (es-siyaam) we were told that it was prescribed to us as it was prescribed to ones before us... so we can elevate ourselves with doing "taqwa". There're 2 roots connected one which has only letter Qaf as a root, and the other one with Ta-Qaf. They're very similar and they both mean protection, but TQ means self-protection. You noticed very well that Meryem s.a. was fasting to protects herself from her people. But, fasting is for our self-protection generally. Silence is a protection, and fasting is not about food/drink, it's about silence. We have to remind ourselves on Allah while we're fasting and we'll get protected. The question arises from what? To answer this we have to look at all ayets (situations) which are related to fasting. The most common (fasting in shehru ramadane) is to protect ourselves from what is after Leyletul-Qadr. Punishments come in the morning, but which morning? People of Salih a.s. were not punished at the same day, they were punished "after 3 days"... it was too early for their punishment. People of Zen-noon a.s. were not punished at all - they were fasting, they protected, as a whole people, themselves. I hope this can help... That clears up a lot for me. I do believe it is about going recluse to maintain peace/avoid places where we may end up doing something oppressive while dedicating the days to God. But "mosque" seems to be very much emphasized. 3 days of fasting is found here also 2196 and 589 as instructions. Another one has 2 months, but translation may need to be checked.

Salam, Just reminding, tomorrow (14th December) the month of fasting begins. To check your city; Go to www.timeanddate.com Look for a "City/Country/Time Zone" search bar on the left side. Type in the name of your city. Beside the search bar is a menu option. Choose "Sun&Moon" on the far right. Below the search bar is a submenu. Look for "Moon Phases". Check when "Full Moon" is, this is when Ramadhan begins. Salam Salam and thank you

Bender, no I don't mean two times a year, I mean ones between two events, which I described. This period (between these two dates) lasts for 40 days or so. brook, shahr is not "full moon". To avoid argueing, please try to find all its accurancies and try to put your definition in them. I hope you'll see that they makeno sense. Btw, brook, if timeanddate.com or similar informations are valid for us, then we should ask so many questions. For example what is day, when it starts and when it ends? And, yes, I hope you'll find ayet where is said how many "shahrs" are in each year. I never said that we should fast any month from any calendar. Calendars are men-made.

the night of power is better than month one thousand. month here is singular, not months, in my understanding it would be plural if talking of a collected number of months, i think rather its talking about a specific numbered month; There is no issue... A thousand "yawm" (i.e Day), A thousand laylah (A thousand night). By the way there is a a famous novel named "a thousand night and a night"(Laylah, and not Layali(its plural) ) In arabic it is redundant, and logically too. One thousand of a single object which is a month in this case. In english, it is written one thousand months i.e a thousand occurences of a month. You get to add an "s" to it to stick to the english grammar but it's different in arabic, obviously.

makes no sense untill you read the next two sentances!, or the 10 verses surrounding it, or the rest of the quran, or the rest of Gods revelations.. there is always a context.. lets not forget that. usualy the context makes it clear what its talking about Well the verses before or after 2194 show that Al-shahr is referring to fighting and unrest. In that case yes Al-shahr can be replied with Al-shahr but only to the same extent. Next part says do not cross limits. Al-shahr for/with Al-shahr as the month does not make sense when studied in the context of surrounding verses. Peace

Thanks Wakas. Ayman's reference is not really relevant to 2185. I was wondering, I guess, if anyone has come across another quran reference where a preposition is inferred despite a clear lack of an actual preposition in the text. Imraan

There are so many things we are not sure of. What do we really know about history? We were not there. In any case, I don't think anything changed all of a sudden. Changes can happen quickly, but they don't come into the scene out of the blue. Like you said, it is unlikely that load of people all over the world suddenly change a ritual at the same time. So if there was a change, then this is probably not the way it happened. There are many unknowns in history, and many assumptions. Peace What about the ritual self, how did that come into existence?

Dad or creator, the word means basically the same, at least in Arabic/Semitic, although Rabb is more the word for developer, and Rabb is a word very related to abbu. You do not realize that it is in the image that Rabb came with you are formed, i.e. it is your father. You might be allergic to that reasoning, but that is because you are tainted by what the sectarians have taught you. Rabb is your Abbu. Mom is not a creator then huh? God leaves signs for people to understand. I might have been made biologically by my parents. That doesn't mean I am them. Plenty of people in this world think they are Gods and this hasn't gone down well in most cultures. By the hindus do believe humans are Gods. This is why Jesus is seen using the term in those Biblical Gospels. In Quran, father (abbu) is used in reference to God, the first time in chapter 2, but the sectarians blurred the meaning in the sentences to imply something else. The reason is because the word abbu (translated as father) is not biological by word and the word means give (life), i.e. God is an abbu. That is why Jesus uses abbu while it is translated as father in English which we take as having a biological meaning. Did God tell the Arabs to follow the culture of the Armanian people? You are mixing cultures with religions which is similar to what sectarians do, i.e. copying the middle eastern culture means obeying the Prophet. Do you not think the clerics and people of his time would have reacted stronger if he said that God was his biological father? They barely comment that he calls God father, due to the above reason concerning abbu, although he uses the word abbu obviously differing from father. There are plenty of other Prophets. Why is it that what Jesus said must only be taken as the ultimate verification of truth? When Jesus calls himself son of God that obviously implies that he means he has God's traits. What you may not know is that in the word "bani Israel" Israel is a "codename" for God, i.e. children of the chief. In my view, he was talking about Panentheistic God. You do not think I am proficient and know what I am writing about? Everything I try to teach you is correct and sanctioned by Rabb. I did notice you stumbled badly when it came to clear verses. Note that some of them were not clear to me. But I expected them to be clear to you because you have been going around telling us that your interpretations are correct. One of the worst among all was that your brilliant mind failed to grasp the verses pinpointing evolution. I admit that I was rejecting the theory and back then I didn't put the relevant verses together to find it in the Quran. But when Invalid asked about multiplication of humans from Adam and Eve through incest you almost gave it a green signal. Similarly, you have been telling us the opposite of what Allah told us to believe. He is everywhere and we are not him. I would advise you to make a better and wider research about this and not just stare yourself blind on a Quran with an interpretation produced by some incompetent clerics. How about the idea that not even your Armanian clerics were competent enough since the verses of the Quran and Quranic themes are found even in Books written much before Gospel? You are sensible enough to see there is something "fishy" about Ramadan, so do not let it stop at that. There is nothing fishy about Ramadan. It is just that humans tend to misunderstand God. People of Mosses eagerly wanting to worship a Golden calf is a great example that. Humans are hardwired to not think when it comes to knowing what God truly wants them to do. This "fasting" should be commenced 365 days per year and not just a month. It is the process of conformity to what is a remedy to your current state of being trapped within a species called Homo Sapiens which does not belong to the real you. Your soul is a fragment of Rabb and you are meant for something greater than a lowly primate. The reason for that testing is to try your willpower and your ability to develop within the most hostile and corrupting of environments as you cannot deny that Satan's enticements are quite heavy on your mind. You need to learn that the instinct is your main enemy.. or problem. This is not a person and Satan has never been a person but your own drive to enter in firmly. This whole thing is nicely summed up in verses you think are forged and incorrect. There is no need to go so abstract. We came out of bloodshedders. We are to be successors. We are to be civilized. Every negative thing like greed, blindly following, promiscuity, arrogance, oppressing and so on takes us back to forest. We no more remain humans.Hence, the verses tell us to avoid such behavior. Quran is clear and easy to understand when it is fully considered.

That does not concern many of them... they found the Earth to be flat and the sun and moon lamps, and the stars some kind of ornament like big video screens in the skies. The stars and planets are ornament sticked / glued on the firmament on the 'nearest heaven'.. An illustration of the concept.. http//www.understandingthebible.us/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/universe_cropped.gif

It might help if we all clarify what our sawm is to others as Maryam did. I see no reason that one may not abstain from as many things as one likes unless one has a direct revelation from God telling them what they personally must not abstain from. Months should be understood as they were at the time of revelation, i.e. according to the Julian calendar.

peace brook This is God's truth, which you can prove for yourself by simply counting the full moons in 2015 and 2016. you speak of God's truth, and you base your understanding in the invented lie of the numbers 2015, 2016.
