You've used Rashad Khalifa's translation and concerning these verses it is inaccurate AKA bad. Just compare his with the other ones on www.quranix.net
I'm not saying that his is overall bad, to the contrary, I think it is one of the best, but sometimes/many times it just isnt literal/good.

Check other ones. The literal translation brings across the message way better.Fact orignially, he only wanted to translate the Quran for his family and himself, because he saw distortions in traditional translations - he wanted to make a monotheist translation - not a sectarian/traditionalist one. Then he discovered the numerical pattern.
