Does it say that Adam was the first man in the Quran?
-
7189, 396 can be looked that way,
don't think it makes much of a difference if it's plural or singular. goes both ways.
but how i derived at it is another story altogether. quran encourages us to explore nature, world... knowledge is everywhere, it's not compressed in 1 book, it has all we need for guidence but it also points elsewhere, not at itself.http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9597535.msg188417#msg188417

"Soulmates is a necessary component of soul development. NDErs identified the most important principals as 1) that everything and everyone is connected; 2) recognition that the other side is home; 3) unconditional love; 4) support from both sides of the veil for our soul development; 5) lessons on reconnection; and 6) that Soulmates is one aspect of individuals feeling connected to a supreme creative being. These principals were derived from the most commonly reported elements concerning relationships. Questions reviewed were those asking about encounters with beings (familiar and unfamiliar), comments about relationships, emotions, feelings, interconnectedness, and universal purpose or order."
http//www.ascension-research.org/twin_flames.htmli know most (if not all) of the research is of spiritual nature, through nde, or obe... it's still valid. i read quite a lot on it to understand it better, plus it really doesn't say anything against qran, in fact it makes me look at 7189 in that light.
yes it can be refering to formation of a physical body as well, yet it couldbe bother, that + soul creation... i don't see why God would focus so much on this physical being when it's almost unimportant, compared to a soul, it vanishes with time, but soul is here forever. it's the soul that's important, it's the soul that drives this body. -
It is.
Except here
7189
It is He Who created you from a single soul, and created her mate from it , in order that he might dwell with her (in love). When he had sexual contact with her, she bears a light burden and carries it about (unnoticed). When she grows heavy, they both pray to Allah their Lord, (saying) "If Thou givest us a goodly child, we vow we shall (ever) be grateful.
The underlined pronouns are gendered, because they are linked to the last underlined (she), who bears the child!
The original Arabic versionThis is a proof that Adam was either a couple, at least, or a female ;D
Salam Samia,
I don't understand why you say "This is a proof that Adam was either a couple, at least, or a female ", I didn't get it!!!!
nafs is feminine isn't it?
I understand both (Adam and his spouse) are from the same nafs.
It is He Who created you from a single soul, and created her mate from it (nafs)....please share and get patient angel

Adam was preceded by "bashar". There's a big difference between bashar and insaan, even in our anguage today. God brethed into the bashar and the insaan (adam) ws the result
3871
When thy Lord said unto the angels Lo! I am about to create a mortal out of mire,
3872And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My Spirit, then fall down before him prostrate,
The non specialized English language does not have an equivalent to the word "bashar". Both bashar and insaan is "human" in English.
Adam is none but us
711And We created you, then fashioned you, then told the angels Fall ye prostrate before Adam! And they fell prostrate, all save Iblis, who was not of those who make prostration.
Very interesting. Thanks!

Surely Allah chose Adam and Nuh and the descendants of Ibrahim and the descendants of Imran above the nations.so who is that Adam in the above verse? Adam of the Eve or a different Adam?
-
Adam = mankind is a symbolic interpretation, because of 711.
yes, that makes more sense
Surely Allah chose mankind and Nuh and the descendants of Ibrahim and the descendants of Imran above the nations.
???

A symbolic interpretation is not equivalent to a literal translation. Try taking 218 or 639 literally, for example.
Adam, literally, refers to one "person".
lets see
adam = humanity

We created you, then we shaped you, then we said to the angels, "Fall prostrate before humanity." They fell prostrate, except Iblees (Satan); he was not with the prostrators.result yes

These are some of the prophets whom GOD blessed. They were chosen from among the descendants of humanity, and the descendants of those whom we carried with Noah, and the descendants of Abraham and Israel, and from among those whom we guided and selected. When the revelations of the Most Gracious are recited to them, they fall prostrate, weeping.result nope
conclusion
Adam = humanity
Adam = name of a personcontext is the key.
thanks

Are you saying there are 2 different adams? One referring to humanity, the other to one person?
You are translating it in one verse, and not in another? This is guess work.
What about instances where it could mean BOTH a proper noun, or humanity. 359. What's your criteria for choosing one over the other?

This verse (230) gives a clue... the reaction of the "malaika" may be indicating that they have seen some form of "bashar" before - which they based their statement on?
3020
This verse says that God created you out of dust - then you became "bashar" spreading out.
The "thumma" here is interesting... What do you make of it?518
...You are merely "bashar" from what He has created... where there other "bashar" created?1533
Could there have been other "bashar" made out of material other than "hardened clay of aged mud"? -

-
Well I dont know where you got "aliens" from.... but maybe other "bashar" were those who came before homo sapiens? and adam and eve were the first homo sapiens?
we were but one community, then we became aliens to each other as per 1019
Adam = humanity as per 711
Adam = one man as per 333, 1958

Good thinking. If you read the verses after 230, the malaika say that they only know what God has taught them!

The "thumma" here is interesting... What do you make of it?Evolution? Thumma, in my opinion, implies a period of time. 7117 also talks about our creation.

Quiet possible, imo. Or that we existed before the creation of adam. This could be how the malaika knew our behavior.
