Let me know when you actually answer what I asked. Thanks.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

oops, you forgot to answer the question again! The question was
"Can you tell the forum the significance of "baAAdin" being masculine plural? Thanks."

hahaha, ok this shows that no one here knows Arabic, sorry to say that but I must say the truth .

" " he is asking me about "" being masculin plural??? .It is a like an idiom in english or expression in english .

but I still not understand his question because " BaAAdin" is always plural? what he means by masculine ? it is not masculine.

You laugh at people that dont know Arabic and are learning? Do you laugh at old ladies, cripples, blind, deaf, babies for not walking yet? Grow up! There is a 13 year old boy on this forum than can speak with more respect than you can and make himself understood without using childish humour. You were aked the question IN English, please have the decency to reply IN English.

So you dont understand the question? should we all laugh at you now?

why you didn't want to understand me. I laughed because of the question which is shows that the person his aim is not to understand the language, in fact he wanted to show that he knows the language .

This is what he said "I recall reading somewhere in which you said you know Arabic. I may be mistaken, because if that is true you would not have posted a blatantly incorrect rendering of "Alrrijalu qawwamoonaAAala alnnisa-i bima faddalaAllahu baAAdahum AAala baAAdin wabimaanfaqoo min amwalihim"Can you tell the forum the significance of "baAAdin" being masculine plural? Thanks." ending his post by a question that shows he didn't know the language(red) while before he pointed out that he knew the language(green) .

the sentence in english "with each other..."
the question(his question) is like this " Can you tell the forum the significance of "other" being masculine plural? is that make sense for you.

So you dont understand the question? should we all laugh at you now?

I think you must laugh at the question .

Is that English? It doesnt make sense. you laughed because his AIM was to show that he does NOT understand the language but in fact he DID want to show he knows the language? nah, nonsense. You laughed and STATED that he doesnt know Arabic and THAT is WHY you laughed. Thats what is understood by anyone reading your posts.

No. Wrong. He said YOU had said YOU know the language, read it again without your eyes shut this time. he was asking YOU the question because YOU said YOU knew Arabic.

No because he asked for the WORD and you have moved on to the sentence. if that says 'with each other' then explain the whole verse with that in mind.

Why is it you never answer a question that IS asked and always reply answering a question that WASN'T asked because YOU decide what people mean

I think you must laugh at the question .

No but im in stitches at your replies rotfl rotfl

I've gave him the answer in Arabic of the whole verse . And about his question, I answer it too because I said that it is not masculine plural as he claimed . The word is always in plural and it depends in numbers (from 2 to XXXX.. number) and it is like an expression in english like "each other" .

                peace reformer1,

                Thanks for attempting a reply.

You say the word "baAAdin" is not masculine, yet corpus.quran.com says it is masculine. Therefore, if you disagree, can you cite the source, and be very specific, which says whatever you think it is if it is not masculine etc?

Once we determine what is accurate here, then we can move forward.

This is my language what I must cite a source ?

the word " "baAAdin"" always used for a non-determine people or things like "some" . and when we used in a sentence it can take different position like it can "Fe'el" or "Modaf" or " Maf'oule" but always means some of a thing or bunch of people .

sorry I've made a mistake , I didn't read your question very well, I was thinking that you said it is only for masculine(males only). I'm really sorry for not paying attention to your question.

Yes, the word "BaAAdin" is always masculine plural whether the plural is about feminine or masculine.

                          peace thereformer1,

Yes, the word "BaAAdin" is always masculine plural whether the plural is about feminine or masculine.

I know it can refer to both males and females. However, can you clarify if you are saying the masculine plural "baAAdin" can refer to an ALL female group (i.e. no males)?

If you answer yes, can you cite any clear example from The Quran showing this, or cite a specific reference stating this? Thanks.

The words not work like that . The word "baAAdin" refer to no one (no gender). when "baAAdin" is alone in a sentence, it takes its place in the sentence as informing that there is some or few or several or a few . but when the word came with its similar separted by a " " "Ala" it turns into collecation and it means "each other" = " "

can you clarify your question ? I didn't understand what do you mean . If it is possible give your answer in arabic.

she is allowed to lead prayer if the congregation is only females but when there are men, she is not allowed to lead prayer . and why she is not allowed to lead prayer if there are men because she is woman.

A woman may not lead the men in prayer for the simple and honest reason that if she is leading them, and she bows and prostrates in front of them, there is a risk that the men, being creatures who are really aware of the beauty of women, might be distracted by seeing her in front of them. And when a woman recites Qur'an or makes the Adhan in a beautiful voice, this also is attractive to men and can make them concentrate less on the message than the messenger.

There are many who would poo-poo this explanantion and say it is unfair, claiming that men are so simple-minded and sex-obsessed that it is feared they'll be distracted simply by the presence of a woman in front of them. Well, I think a realistic look at the world in front of us will put the lie to that protest. Men are extremely visual and are attracted by the beauty of women. Why else would women subject themselves to suffocation-inducing jeans, ankle-wrecking high heels, and thongs that split their private parts in half? They do so because they KNOW that men are visual creatures and that they can easily be distracted by a beautiful woman.

this nice colored answer taken from http//answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070730075258AAQzA62

Says who? What is the authority of the folks who say that Amina Wadud should not be allowed to lead? Why should they be trusted and those who disagree with them be ignored or considered heretic?
Sorry, I'm not convinced. I need a better explanation.

I wish we'd stop viewing women as dangerously sexy and naturally seductive beings - by God, we are just as human as men are. There's nothing any "more" beautiful about women than there is about men. Just because society has forced you to believe that women are "naturally delicate, 'precious,' and seductive" doesn't mean it's a real and accurate representation or image of us women.

A true believer would pray behind a naked woman without being attracted by her beauty. It's a challenge and dont laugh please.

Mirza Ghalib said one day to somebody "Show me a place in the mosque where I can drink some vine"

That's still not a good enough reason for women NOT to be allowed to lead prayers.

                                    Try something better D

And I'd disagree - I think it's because we're perceived as dangerously sexy and naturally seductive. God tells both men and women in the Quran to lower their gazes, but no one seems to take the part about men's modesty seriously S It's all women's fault that society is so "immoral"... as Mawdudi says. Alas ... hypno

A true believer would pray behind a naked woman without being attracted by her beauty. It's a challenge and dont laugh please.

yea, if true means blind... -\

                                        reformer1,

As far as I'm aware, the masculine plural never refers to an all female group. But anyways, so let us say it is impossible to conclude baAAdin refers to females only, then why did you post a translation implying it refers to females?

We can determine what it refers to by the way The Quran uses the word. e.g. does baAAdin ever refer to all females anywhere? Not that I know of. If some males are bestowed/preferred in 434, then that means not all, hence "ala baAAdin" perfectly fits for referring to males. Everytime baAAdin is used it refers to a subsection of those talked about, and in 434 that is al rijal. Also, since bima brackets/limits the QWM reference, and refers to what they spent etc then it leaves no choice but to say baAAdin refers to either males or males+females, NOT females only.

That is the point I was getting at.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

                                          Says who?

Says common sense, says Quran, says the prophet . Have you ever Heard that Aisha the wife of the prophet peace be upon him may God be pleased with her has lead the prayer in the existence of the prophet or in the existence of Sahaba may God be pleased with them ?

What is the authority of the folks who say that Amina Wadud should not be allowed to lead?

                                          The authority is Quran

434." Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because All?h has made one of them to excel the other, and because they spend (to support them) from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient (to All?h and to their husbands), and guard in the husband?s absence what All?h orders them to guard (e.g. their chastity, their husband?s property). As to those women on whose part you see ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (next), refuse to share their beds, (and last) beat them (lightly, if it is useful); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them means (of annoyance). Surely, All?h is Ever Most High, Most Great." The word in Arabic is "Qawama" and they translated it to "maintainer or protecter" which are two definition under the huge number of definitions of this word .

The word "Qawama" means "Imama" and when we use Imama as an arabic word, it means being responsible in everything.

And the second Authority is the wives of the prophet who they stayed at home and they got out in need .

And the third for my opinion is the language of Arabic The word "Imam" the leader of prayer, there is no feminine of this word .

Why should they be trusted and those who disagree with them be ignored or considered heretic?

                                          see above .

Sorry, I'm not convinced. I need a better explanation.

I'm not looking for convincing you. This is the truth, you want to be blind and deaf , go ahead .
