      Princess

thank you for the reminder, brother david!
let's really finish this thread, since it is not going anywhere lately..

i'm very glad i have 'gotten to know' some of you, see y'all in other (productive) threads

Not every thing that is in your favor is productive.
This thread will be remembered as the "Exposition of the so called Quranist Extremists", their behavior their attitude.
Most of you call the Sunni's or Shia's Extremists but via this thread people came to know how much of Extremists you are..
To cover head or face is nothing new it has been existing from centuries in all Abrahamic religions and scriptures, to remove it is only a recent move supported by Feminist groups and people involved in fashion industry..
Most of the west thinks this as a male dominance and that is not true according to Quran, it is for Modesty..
But these "ayatollahs of secularism," find it hard to swallow this right.

The Quran states women should not display their beauty to any male, except their husbands, closely related family members and children, and I as a husband think that her hair are part of her beauty and she should not display it to others, until necessary, like in case of medication...
Now off course i know that even If you cover your whole body, but if you are not modest in inner than that does not help at all.
Once again I will repeat, no matter how much angry you feel, that YOU came to this thread One thing decided in your mind, that you want to take off the Head covering, you seek support of those who were your like minded, but they are not, they have no authority, they have too little knowledge..Only Quran can give you the proper guidance and to understand Quran it is some time necessary to take in account some of the History and other related materials too..

And Sure you should be thankful to David for reminding you and me the Command of Allah.

        Peace Raaajah

The verse I posted was not just a reminder for other people, it was a reminder for you as well. I saw both sides ridiculing. I disagree with most of what you said in this thread. And no verse in the Quran tells women to cover their head. Facts are facts and can not be rejected. I am not here to be for or against anyone. I champion justice. And this is what i stand for.

Ok let us en up this thread here.
I have a question to the ladies please answer yes or no.

Now every one is saying that it is not quranic to cover your hair, op agreed.Though almost all the poets admire the hair of their beloved.
          All her bright golden hair
          Tarnished with rust,
She that was young and fair
          Fallen to the dust.
          (from "Requiescat" by Oscar Wilde)

O noble pilot tell me true
Is that the sheen of golden hair?
Or is it but the tangled dew
          That binds the passion-flowers there?
          (from "Serenade" by Oscar Wilde)

Now the question is all those ladies who are claiming that they are following Quran for not wearing head scarf etc, or they wearing the outer garment as commanded by god????>? hmm

I, as a woman, think that hair is part of "what is apparent" (of a woman's beauty). Makes way more sense. yes

The explicit purpose of the Christian woman"s head covering, as stated by Paul, is that it is a sign of man"s authority over woman. The explicit purpose of Islamic hijab is modesty. Strange how so many Westerners think that the purpose of hijab is a symbol of male authority and they keep on to force this point of view, on us, offcourse this is understandable.

Of course its understandable when you have yourself just produced these verse and claim they are now a sign of mans authority over women, bit of a twist to then say its the wests fault after that isnt it? The moon shines at night, is that the wests fault too?

Paul made Christianity the 'man-god women are lesser mortals there to service man' religion it is today, not God and not Jesus, Jesus as all for equality, naturally he was a MUSLIM. You claimed covering the hair 'the highest form of worship' and now we have its a sign of mans authority over women, are you next going to say woman should worship man?

I fully agree we are to cover our bodies and along with Leyna I agree that hair is 'what is normally apparent' and the explicit instruction in Quran is to cover the bosom, your private parts. Yes many men have a thing for hair, many for eyes, many even for hands and feet, hence the perverts making the rules to cover a woman entirely from head to toe but one eye to see with behind a grill, I mean why bother letting her out anyway? Ahh yes, some dont and also bring the verse that was explicitly for the prophets wives to force a woman to stay in the home, why oh why they ever bothered stopping burying the baby girls alive in the first place baffles me if they are causing so much trouble!

You have not answered why muslim men pray with the head covered after you produced a bible verse claiming women should cover but men shouldnt when praying. Why is that verse brought to 'prove' women are to cover but ignoring the part it says men are not to cover?

I'm not sure who warned you before Jafar but is it too much to ask to post such pictures with links and an accurate description as to what the link contains? There are people who are accessing the site from work, or people who feel offended by being forced to see someone's breasts in passing regardless of how "beautiful" they may be. I don't see how one can gauge a beautiful heart/modesty by a picture or why "culture shock" should be force sprung on others. Give people options and describe accurately what is in the link is all.

The picture been posted is a normality within different culture.. a papuan culture to be exact..
Females in such society really dressed in such way as depicted in the picture.
And those female never ever got harassed or raped or anything in their society..
And no male or female in that culture had ever offended with such view..

And yes I agree modesty and morality cannot be judged from outside appearance...
As thus let's refrain from it!!

                  Salam / Peace

Because the Quran was a message delivered to people within a society which is VERY BARBARIC and VERY CLOSE to receives TOTAL DESTRUCTION from God. As thus 'such clothing recommendation and behavior' is being recommended for their own safety... that's the main objective SAFETY... from DANGEROUS SURROUNDINGS.

There are many other societies which is not as BARBARIC as the 'you know who' society who received the Quran message, and as thus female not wearing anything at all could safely walk by wiithout any exposed danger whatsoever.

Men and women clothing should be selected based on the environment. and it has nothing to do with 'morality'...
If they're going to the moon, better wear astronaut suite..
If they're going to the arctic, better wear a thick fur based jacket... just like the eskimo did..
If they're going to the bathroom, better wear nothing at all..

If princess want to stop wearing a head-covering and wanted to wear a magician hat instead and it is safe enough for her to do so.. Then just do it!!

                      Salam / Peace

Rape cases in these "non barbaric" societies are the greatest.

                            reported

It is clear from the amount of posts regarding Arab men and harrassment on every forum that they are doing it but cases of 'internal' rape are of course all the womans fault anyway. By Internal I mean within the community. These are the communities that will punish a woman for being raped so the likelyhood of it being reported by her are pretty slim as the only 'justice' she will receive is to be stoned for adultery.

Our one illiterate lady who became the vitim of rape had become internationally famous just in the recent past. The ground reality is that in these "barbaric" countries the number of rapes is almost negligible than the "open and civilized" societies despite being in dark quite frequently because of electricity load shedding. Just switch off NY for couple of hours and find how barbaric are people with women weherever they might be found, on streets or lifts.

Standing at the Top as usual, with balanced comments..hope more and more will see this in future, there is a little chance that David-K agrees with the point of view of Maluana Madaudi, or me on this particular subject but he has courage to speak the truth, even he makes angry the majority, and I have firm believe that Majority is not always on right path. Salute to You David for calling spade a spade.

If only you would have read these, posted well before your post.
Regarding there being no verse in Quran is your point of view and I respect that, but sorry you cannot call it a FACT.

                                        Rasul Hamsa

correction Mukhtaran M' was the victim of a gang rape as a form of honour revenge, on the orders of tribesmen ? or by some accounts, on the orders of a panchayat (tribal council)

But her story was made Head lines all over the world, pointing out all the evils starting from Pakistan and ending up at Islam.
On the other hand what afridi has reported no one blamed it on Christianity or Atheism, or did they?

                                        JAffar

therefore you agree that The Quran orders Parda for whatever reason it may be,
However you cannot call those societies as Barbaric, where ladies Like Khadija were involved in active trading, but you have a VAlid point mentioning the Safety reasons, because if one follows the history or different HAdith, he may arrive at the conclusion that one of the motive behind it was SAFETY.
But the point is it was there...
Now if we take this point of view that it was for specific time and situation and now by Ijtihaad, we can make amendment in this command according to the situation, then it makes a sense at least.
