i'm wondering if the way the adhan (call to prayer) is done from the hadhith?

the way I do it for my family is

    allahu akbar allahu akbar

Ash-had an la ilaha illa llah

    Ash-hadu anna Muammadan rasulullah

    Hayya 'ala-salatt

    Hayya 'ala 'l-falah

allahu akbar allahu akbar la illaha illa llah

i feel a little uncomfortable with the "mohamed" part because it feels as if i'm unneccessarily attributing the prophet to the call for prayer...i have been doing this quite often now with my family especially now with ramadan. but i dont want to say that part if its from a hadith or secondary text...

One question to think about Do you think the Prophet included Ash-hadu anna Muammadan rasulullah in his prayer?

One thread I can think of which discusses this in detail is titled "la illa ha ill allah"

This is the virus that creates the disease leading one to become a Munafiq. Munafiq feel uncomfort whenever any thing authentic about the Messenger he listens.

with all due respect, that is NOT the question.
according to my understanding philosopher wants to know whether 'i testify that muhammad is the prophet of god' is part of the original azan or it is a corruption.
let's not overuse the word munafiq so freely, please.

Ash-had an la ilaha illa llah

This, in our time and space, becomes a true declaration only if one also declares this

            Ash-hadu anna Muammadan rasulullah

since the first quote is because he told this.

could you kindly elaborate, why la illaha il allah becomes a 'true' declaration only if followed by that second part, in our time & space?

And what is Original Azaan then? princess can you tell us please? and the knowledge you pretend to have, sure you must have a proof for original Azan, please share it?

May be Munafiq is a harsh word, but Mazhar is correct in pointing out, that those who feel discomfort with Muhammad Peace be upon's name are not true believers.

Merely to point out that I have not noticed in Grand Qur'aan that this category of people, people of a peculiar psche did exist in time before the Last Messenger, .

So this disease begins with the feel of uneasiness by respectful mention of him. Warning is only to help people, since the result of this is worse than the Satan, he will be better off than such human beings.

Call to prayer is for God Alone, mentioning anyone else is not from Quran. One does not need to say they bear witness to Muhammed or Jesus or Moses or superman, just GOD. Islam is about GOD Alone, worship is for God alone and Muhammed would not have added this to any call to prayer or to the prayer itself. The shahadah in Quran is to testify that there is no God but God and says nothing of ANY messenger. If we follow and believe in God and Quran it is without doubt that we also believe in all His messengers, there is no need to add this to the worship meant for God Alone.

                              Philosopher,

If you ring a bell or blow a horn or sound an alarm or clap your hands, wave a flag that signifies time to prayer, that will do for me. Would God not accept that?

I haven't come across in the Koran how to say azhan and neither in the hadith. I am sure rajaah here would refer me to the ayats in the Koran or the volume in Bukhari where Muhammad instructs a man how to call to prayer.

Your question is regarding mentioning Muhammad. Well, why are you singling our messenger Muhammad? how about abraham, moses, jesus? God taught abraham how to pray. How did abraham call his people and lead them in prayer? I am sure of it that he didn't mention Muhammad in his azhan.

So the question really is what is the purpose of praying, and why are you praying? are you calling your family to pause and remember to think, remember God alone asking for God to give you strength, forgiveness, etc or do you want your family to also pause and think/remember Muhammad being the last of the pophets?

There's no 'proper way' to do adhan / azaan / call to prayer...
It's a 'cultural' thing and people on different parts of the world do it differently.
It could be 'ringing a bell', 'blowing the sofar' or it could be as simple as
                                "Now let us pray"..

                                Salam / Peace

For any declaration one needs to quote authority. And for human beings the authority is the Messenger of Allah, since Allah does not communicate with general public, except through the Messenger.

firstly, we do not make distinction between the messengers

2136 Say "We believe in God and in what was sent down to us and what was sent down to Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the Patriarchs, and what was given to Moses and Jesus, and what was given to the prophets from their Lord; we do not make a distinction between any of them and to Him we surrender."

hence why not call out "and jesus, abraham, moses etc are messengers of allah", why only muhammad? doesn't calling on muhammad ONLY constitute 'making that distinction'?
ALL the messengers came with the same message, that is 'there is no god but God alone', so how come muhammad is the only 'authority'?

secondly, actually we should not call on anyone besides allah at all

7218 And the places of worship are for Allah (alone) So invoke not any one along with Allah

thirdly, correct shahada is already in the quran

318 God bears witness that there is no god but He, as do the Angels, and those with knowledge, He is standing with justice. There is no god but Him, the Noble, the Wise.

                                    and fourthly & interestingly

3945 And when God Alone is mentioned, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter are filled with aversion; and when others are mentioned beside Him, they rejoice!

nobody disputes that muhammad in fact was the messenger of god. the question is whether he is in a so called 'limited partnership' with allah that we should call upon him in our shahada, in our azan and in our salat.
please decide from the above verses for yourself because god said

1736 And do not uphold what you have no knowledge of. For the hearing, eyesight, and mind, all these you are responsible for.

i personally feel no discomfort or 'uneasiness' when discussing prophet muhammad (or any other prophets for that matter), i only have an issue when one of the prophets is elevated above others, while god in quran clearly tells us not to.

                                    peace peace

How do you know that they were the Messengers of Allah? On whose authority you believe them to be Messengers? On the authority of history books, sayings of christian and jew friends? Or because Muhammad Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam confirmed and verified that they were the Messengers of Allah in time and space?

This is during the lifetime of the prophet. To imply it means now would mean us having to ask a dead man to seek forgiveness for us, to intercede, which he could only do during his lifetime, unless you are suggesting to pray to Muhammed?

There's no 'proper way' to do adhan / azaan / call to prayer...
It's a 'cultural' thing and people on different parts of the world do it differently.
It could be 'ringing a bell', 'blowing the sofar' or it could be as simple as
                                          "Now let us pray"..

                                          Salam / Peace

And when you people proclaim your call for congregation to perform Ass-sa'laat, they take it in jest and mockery playfully.

This is because they are indeed the people who do not reflect to differentiate .

denotes only calling through speech containing words, if someone applies his own intellect in reading the words of Qur'aan.
