Medical experts have yet not been able to find out the reason why the "Penile sinusoids" get fully filled with blood five six times during REM sleep. As Raaajah quoted "off duty", may be the reason is that extra blood supply is not needed for stomach and brain during sleep and it keeps filling the Penile chambers. The three times prescribed for the purpose are also such when activity in the stomach is almost nill, ensuring avilability of extra blood for the purpose.

Mazhar, the opp is satyriasis. Have there been any medical studies done that show a relation between not eating and increased libido during the period of food/drink abstinence (as otherwise the blood isn't "off-duty" is it...)?

I am not aware of any such study. However "wise men" advise not to do sex immediately after taking food when stomach is full. It takes few hours that the semi broken food passes on to intestine for further breaking to get suitable for absorption. Some expert on metabolism may throw light on the issue. However I know that Men's body temperature has certainly to do something with sex since sperms are "manufactured" at a temperature slightly lower than normal body temperature and the organ is temperature sensitive.

I'm not that much of an intellectual, Raaajah, but you know, i do read. For example, i read the post i was responding to

All our actions emanate to satisfy the appetite/desire/attraction/lust of three parts of the human body; belly/stomach ; the lower part genitalia-sex and chest/heart.

And to satisfy all these appetites one has to move into the society. This is why actions are adjudged as good and bad. Prescription of "Fasting" may be evaluated from this angle.

Ramazan is being translated as "scorching hot". But be careful of this that when nothing eatable goes into mouth for many hours, the body temperature/heat rises, and "heated body" becomes more desirous of sex.

Sleep is a great mystery for the scientists. Initially it was thought to be an essential for physical rejuvenation, but when scientists carried out experiments, they found it was not a necessity, because one could rejuvenate just by resting without sleep.

Someone postulated, "it is a necessity for brain rest", yet it has been proven wrong by experiments, because when they inserted electrodes in the brain, they were surprised to find higher brain activity during sleep.

Sleep has two very distinct phases, DEEP SLEEP and REM (rapid eye movement). It alternates between these two phases at varied interval with REM phase progressively increasing towards the end, till one wakes up.

The REM phase is quiet interesting. It is called REM, because the eye balls are rotating very rapidly in a circular motion under the closed eyelids, one also gets an ERECTION during this phase. Most of the time we wake up in the morning during REM

So, most likely "Maliks" disable us at night by capturing our souls for some divine purposes, or we could say, when main part of our soul is missing, some program is run during REM for a short interval as some kind of self test ( to ensure serviceability)

Sexologists use REM erections for differentiating between psychological or physical aspects of impotency. REM erections in the morning, hardware is serviceable, and impotency is psychological. If they do not find erections even during REM,they concentrate on HARDWARE.

"Hardware" and "software" is built in. We, having been given will and freedom of choice, are required to grant it "sanctity", "privacy" and secrecy, as is done by "grasses-grain crops" in their sex activity.

But at the same time excessively supressing the lawful sex activity is declared as
"Allah has known that you people lessen/do not deliver the rights of your own selves".

And sex is a mutual activity. You will notice the use of Form-III verb indicating mutuality. That is the right of wife and its fullfilment is the part of Taqwa.

Questions

There is no preposition "in" (fi) before "it" in "falyaSumhu" (compare this to "fighting in it" in verse ). What is "it" that he is being let to "Sawm"? In simple English, what is "it" that he is to "abstain/restrain"?

Does Sawm (or Siyaam) intrinsically or automatically mean "abstaining oneself from eating, drinking and sexual intercourse"?

So the complete book is not so complete as we thought it was, because one of the decrees can not be performed without the Arabic calendar?
God's book is dependent on a man-made calendar, and it is incidentally an Arabic one? how convenient.

But the question is, why was'nt this calendar designed by the Prophet Mohammed, but the second caliph Omar ? How did they "witness" this month (dont understand how someone can WITNESS a month though) when the Hijri calender was not created ? How did they "fast" ?

Sunni's & shia's says namaaz is Farz, but the method is not given in the Quran,we need the Hadith .....,same goes with the fasting ritual,its a command,but it cant be performed until we have created a calender by ourself ,,,,, -,,,,,

Both, hadith, and the calendar, is not created by Allah or the Prophet himself. Why is something that important not given to us by Syedana Mohammed? Why would Allahs commands depend on additional information outside the book?

Certainly the count/number of months from Allah is twelve months , written within the Book of Allah from the Day He created the Skies and the Earth.

Out of those twelve four are sacred months.

This is the straightly settled/permanent/perpetuated way/discipline/rule/operative system.

This is in most simple words a general information about the operative system of time measure, declaring month to be the base unit, NOT Days. Number of Days have never been constant . The time begain immediately the Sky and Earth were separated apart resulting in spin. Spin generated time.
