And Rabb is not equal to Lord.

    Right?

But I recommend you read this sites http//simple.wiktionary.org/wiki/god
    http//simple.wiktionary.org/wiki/God

What is your problem? Allah is the noun, translated in English = god.

Languages have different ways to emphasize on words and English

    Salam

Why you are raising the issue of "language" or "spelling" when the real issue and logical argument of this thread is related to whether Allah is equivalent to the "same concept of God" (category) worshipped by human beings?

    For example

    Category Name
-> God Allah, Jesus, Shiva etc.
-> Car Mercedes, BMW, Ford, Toyota etc.
-> Food Pizza, Cake, Bread etc.
-> Animal Tiger, Lion, Cat, Cow etc

I agree with you and we can call Allah with any Best Identifiers. There is also no harm to call Allah as God/god since it is also referred in the Qur'an. These are not the issue. The real issue is whether it is "most accurate" to make Allah equivalent to the same category of god(s). This is so since we have specific Sura that define Allah; ie. Sura al-Ikhlas, where Allah denies He is equivalent to god(s), and "There is no god but Allah".

Therefore, Allah can use any names or identifiers; whether it is Rabb, Ar-Rahman, Ar-Raheem, God, god, YHVH, Eloah etc, but all these names are subject to the interpretation provision in the Qur'an; ie. Sura al-Ikhlas, a sura that define the actual meaning of Allah.

Read the issue of this thread and identify what is the issue from the following argument?

    Is it about spellings?

    Is it about languages?

What kind of person that present an argument without first understanding the issue?

    Logical Argument

Premise 1 There are many (equivalent concept of) gods
    worshiped by human beings.
Premise 2 Sura 112 said Allah is One and not equivalent to god(s) / "G"od.

The issue here is whether Allah is "equivalent" to the same concept of God understand and worshipped by human beings.

and... Sura 112 said Allah is One and not equivalent to god(s) / "G"od (category).

    Peace

      Salaam,

It is what I have been trying to prove if you could not see it, through explaining grammar of English, that God is equivalent to Allah.

      God bless you

        Salaam,

Okay you still don't understand the issue of this thread and raising the issue of "spelling" and "languages".

I fully understand your point, spelling of Allah is equal to spelling of God.

To make it easy, let says there is only the word "God" in the Qur'an.

        This is your argument right?

The issue here is does "God" (name) is in the same category of Gods/gods (category) worshipped by human beings?

        God bless you

          Salaam,

These are circular arguments. God is God, not in a category of other gods than God. I told you it is the same in Arabic had you not added 'al' to 'lah'. The 'G' has the same effect. To understand the logic you have to analyze the English language.

From my first post I discussed the topic of the thread, but you were unable to see that.

God is One. Other gods are imaginary. There is no category of gods. And I am not sure why you mixed up Toyota in your god category.

If it was an English version issued by God the slogan would be "there is no god but God" and it would mean the same as its Arabic counterpart. The old polytheistic religions and their gods had names that were not 'God' but rather Jupiter or similar. Because capitalization of god means making it the same name as Allah it is not in the category of other gods.

I am not sure what I must say that you understand this very logical fact.

I have understood that you are working to prove it is wrong to say God, but it cannot be. Even in Arabic without using 'al' on Allah it could be any god.

          God bless you

God is God, not in a category of other gods than God.

            Salam,

I say "other religions are also claiming the capital "G" is referring to their "God"".

You say "God is God, not in a category of other gods than God."

Therefore "God (category/concept) is not equivalents to "God" (name of Allah in English,
            as per your argument)

Therefore "God (category/concept) is not "Allah" (name of Allah in the Qur'an)"

Therefore "Allah" is not equivalent to God (category/concept)

            Argument Therefore, Allah is . . . ?
            (a) God (equivalent category/concept); or
            (b) not God (equivalent category/concept) (refer here)

Is this right as per your argument?

            God bless you.

So what about Lord? There are many lords in the world.

God is One. Other gods are imaginary. There is no category of gods.

                      Salam

Your argument is denying other faith and their God(s). You are claiming absolute truth and denies all references to "God" in other religions. Therefore, it is not really an argument, but an opinion. It is a dogma and an assertion which cannot be tested as true or false; ie. an assumption.

Below is the pattern of your "opinion"

                      (1) I define God is Allah.
                      (2) No, seriously, other references is not God! <- Absolute denial of their reference to God(s)
                      (3) Therefore, God is Allah.

                      Similarly ...

                      (1) God exists.
                      (2) Therefore, God exists!

                      (1) I define God is Allah.
                      (2) Therefore, God is Allah! <- Because I say so!!!

                      (1) Even if other religions made reference to God, it would be better if people believed God is Allah.
                      (2) Therefore, God is Allah.

                      (2) Even an idiot can see that God is Allah.
                      (3) Therefore, God is Allah.

Is this faith? Nope, it is an assumption; They follow not except assumption, and indeed, assumption avails not against the truth at all (532(27.

                      Peace.

                            I have answered your question.

Which part you did not understand?

Salaam muslims. What about ? Rabb is always translated into Lord (with capital L). Does that mean it is also wrong? Are you saying that Allah, the Arabic word is the only His true name? What about YHVH, Eloah etc?

Sura 112 The "definition provision for Allah" in the Qur'an

There is also no harm to call Allah as God/god since it is also referred in the Qur'an. These are not the issue.

                            Salaam diamantinehoneybunch,

I'm referring to a "definition or interpretation provision/sura". It is a sura or provision that defines words in the Qur'an. Similarly, we have a "The Interpretation Act 1978 (UK)", "The Interpretation Act 1987 (NSW)", or an interpretation provision in every statutory acts; "In this Act the following words and expressions are used in the following senses, unless a contrary intention appears from the context"; Section 2 in every statutory legislation, or an interpretation clause in every Contracts.

Why would Allah use similar concepts? Maybe because human beings only understand the concept of "gods" for creations. However, this is not definite and human will understand the actual concept of Allah after becoming a Believer. The understanding of Allah is a "life process" but not the end descriptions or meanings of Allah. It is not something that can be taken for granted or achieve through academical process, but a privilege, and dependent on the level of our faith.

                            Peace

                              Salaam,

You can read post #1, where I have structured my logical argument and stated clearly the issue in this thread. What is the issue?

Is it about grammar, languages and spellings? or

It is related to "(equivalent concept of) gods worshiped by human beings?"

                              Logical Argument

Premise 1 There are many (equivalent concept of) gods worshiped by human beings.
Premise 2 Sura 112 said Allah is One and not equivalent to god(s).

You can refer to Wakas's post if you cannot identify the issue and the structure of logical arguments. It is very useful.

The key is to follow a robust/verifiable methodology, and in my view, why not let Quran tell you how to do that? My view here
                              http//www.quran434.com/study-method.html

However and since you are claiming absolute truth (refer here) and denies all references to "God" in other religions, it is then a dogma, an assumption. An assertion which cannot be tested as true or false; ie. "God is Allah because I/We says so.".

                              (1) I define God is Allah.
                              (2) Therefore, God is Allah! <- Because I say so!!!

                              God bless you

Yeah, all Muslims from Finland, Ukraine, Russia, Australia, Sweden, Belgium, Luxembourg, Monaco, North Pole and other countries througout the world must say Allah because 'God' in their languages are not Allah.
                                yeah
                                Makes perfect sense!

Which part you did not understand?

There is also no harm to call Allah as God/god since it is also referred in the Qur'an. These are not the issue.

                                  Peace.

                                    Salaam,

There is no dogma since I am not trying to force anyone into accepting it is truth. I was saying that I made a clear elaboration through grammar and it was a logical argument too since I went through the grammar several times to clarify my point. So do not come here and say I have no basis or methodology as I was structure by structure going through why the word God is equal to the usage of Allah. Grammar use does explain why it would be God instead of Allah if the book was written in English by God Himself.

I refuted your claim, but you still come with empty arguments that circumvent my point. And also blamed me for not discussing the topic of this thread.

                                    God bless you

Read carefully and understand the issue of this thread before presenting an argument, and a dogma is not about forcing others, it is about supporting your belief with valid logical reasoning. Further, there is a difference between "Allah is God" and "God is Allah", and you are not saying "Allah is God", but in actuality, you are saying "God is Allah" because you denies all references to "God" in other religions. You are claiming absolute truth for the usage of the English word "God" (refer here). Therefore your argument also means that God comes first and bigger concept than Allah. The "G".

                                      God bless you

Is it true that Allah is God ?

                                        Facts

                                        La Illah Ila Allah
There is no god but Allah

Sura 112 The "definition provision for Allah" in the Qur'an

                                        Say, "He is Allah, One
                                        Allah, the Eternal Refuge
He neither begets nor is born
Nor is there to Him any equivalent"
                                        (112)

                                        Logical Argument

Premise 1 There are many (equivalent concept of) gods worshiped by human beings.
Premise 2 Sura 112 said Allah is One and not equivalent to god(s).

                                        Argument Therefore, Allah is . . . ?
                                        (a) God; or
                                        (b) not God

The predicate of "La" is elided. Determine/estimate what could be the elided predicate; the meanings and perception of the sentence will become explicitly evident matching ground realities.

                                        English word God noun

                                        interjection
expression of strong feeling used to express or emphasize feelings such as anger, helplessness, and frustration (sometimes considered offensive)

                                          Salaam,

No I said that God, the name, is equal to Allah. Where you get a bigger concept from is a mystery to me.
