    Salaamun brothers and sisters,

I came across a question recently by a new friend of mine that 'is alQuraan from Allah?'
I said yes. He asked me to prove it and I failed.
Then many questions arise in my mind.

It will help me to understand how many of you think that alQuraan is not from Allah.
Please vote, you don't need to mention your name.

Does it really matter if it is not from Allah?

If anyone like to give aayaat to prove that it is the book of Allah, I will really appreciate it.
If anyone like to discuss this topic further, we can do so in this very thread inshaAllah.

May Allah protect us from all evil and guide us on His only path pr

      AW dear brother,
I feel your question is based on the assumption that the AlQuran is same as the book. This may where the problem lies. Actually, as to my understanding, AlQuran is a kitab - which is imprinted in our heart/qalb; and Iqra means recite.

            peace,

He asked me to prove it and I failed.

Of course you failed. It's not possible to "prove" 100% beyond doubt in an objective manner. The Quran recognises this by using the word "iman" (belief/trust) for example.

Here is a good place to start
            http//www.quran434.com/Does-God-Exist.pdf

And if that doesn't convince your friend The Quran is at least worthy of study, then mention the fact that Arabia was transformed post-Quran from an unknown region/people into a world leading power, and intellectual powerhouse. Coincidence?

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

Grrr, you know the answer bro. You really do. ;D

You didn't include the reason I wanted to vote for. So I'll just write.

You see, Quran has some instructions and promises God made to us. They go hand in hand. How do we know? By following those instructions. You will definitely see what happens as a result. This is uncanny and insane. This truly is a sign he does not just exist, but also guides us.

You cannot prove this to your friend. It is him who has to see it through his application. You can still give him a broader example. God said he would protect Quran and we see this to be true because it is a binary symmetric book and plus anyone can memorize it. You can't add and subtract verses from it. There is literally no evidence in 1400 years that this was done by humans.

For me there are too many bad ideas in it. Quranists talk about freedom of religion but there you have Abraham smashing idols. That's not tolerance.
What just God would divide humanity into believers and disbelievers. All that has done is create conflict.

We are hard wired to believe the religion of our parents. Only 0.1% change their religion. Why blame entire groups for their beliefs.

Salam/Peace, Ibrahim questioned his family & his community about the idols.

Waothkur fee alkitabiibraheema innahu kana siddeeqan nabiyyan
And recall in the Book, Abraham; he was a man of truth, a prophet.

                  1942

                  1943
Ya abati innee qad jaanee minaalAAilmi ma lam ya/tika faittabiAAnee ahdika siratansawiyyan
"My father, knowledge has come to me which did not come to you. So follow me that I will guide you to a level path."

                  1944
Ya abati la taAAbudi alshshaytanainna alshshaytana kana lilrrahmaniAAasiyyan
"My father, do not serve the devil. For the devil was ever disobedient to the Almighty."

                  1945
Ya abati innee akhafu anyamassaka AAathabun mina alrrahmanifatakoona lilshshyatani waliyyan
"My father, I fear that a retribution will inflict you from the Almighty and that you will become an ally to the devil."

                  1946
Qala araghibun anta AAan alihateeya ibraheemu la-in lam tantahi laarjumannaka waohjurneemaliyyan
He said "Have you abandoned my gods O Abraham? If you do not stop this, I will stone you; and let me be."

                  1948
WaaAAtazilukum wama tadAAoona mindooni Allahi waadAAoo rabbee AAasa allaakoona biduAAa-i rabbee shaqiyyan
"And I will abandon you and what you call on besides God. And I will implore my Lord, hoping that I will not be mischievous in imploring my Lord."

                  1949
Falamma iAAtazalahum wamayaAAbudoona min dooni Allahi wahabna lahu ishaqawayaAAqooba wakullan jaAAalna nabiyyan
So when he abandoned them and what they served besides God, We granted him Isaac and Jacob, and each of them We made a prophet.

                  1950
Wawahabna lahum min rahmatinawajaAAalna lahum lisana sidqin AAaliyyan
And We granted them from Our mercy, and We made for them a tongue of truthfulness to be heard.

And about Ibrahim destroying idols, well it's important to look into context

                  2149
Allatheena yakhshawna rabbahum bialghaybiwahum mina alssaAAati mushfiqoona
Those who are concerned towards their Lord in the unseen, and they are weary of the Hour.

                  2150
Wahatha thikrun mubarakunanzalnahu afaantum lahu munkiroona
And this is a blessed reminder which We have sent down. Will you be deniers of it?

                  2151
Walaqad atayna ibraheemarushdahu min qablu wakunna bihi AAalimeena
And before that We gave Abraham his understanding, and We were aware of him.

                  2152
Ith qala li-abeehi waqawmihi mahathihi alttamatheelu allatee antum lahaAAakifoona
As he said to his father and people "What are these images to which you are devoted?"

                  2153
                  Qaloo wajadna abaanalaha AAabideena
They said "We found our fathers worshipping them."

                  2154
Qala laqad kuntum antum waabaokumfee dalalin mubeenin
He said "You and your fathers have been clearly misguided."

                  2155
Qaloo aji/tana bialhaqqiam anta mina allaAAibeena
They said "Have you come to us with the truth, or are you simply playing?"

                  2156
Qala bal rabbukum rabbu alssamawatiwaal-ardi allathee fatarahunna waanaAAala thalikum mina alshshahideena
He said "No, your lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the One who initiated them. And I bear witness to such."

                  2157
WataAllahi laakeedanna asnamakumbaAAda an tuwalloo mudbireena
"And by God, I will plan against your statues after you have gone away and given your backs."

                  2158
FajaAAalahum juthathan illakabeeran lahum laAAallahum ilayhi yarjiAAoona
So he broke them into pieces except for the biggest of them, so that they may turn to him.

                  2159
Qaloo man faAAala hatha bi-alihatinainnahu lamina alththalimeena
They said "Who has done this to our gods? He is surely one of the wicked."

                  2160
Qaloo samiAAna fatan yathkuruhumyuqalu lahu ibraheemu
They said "We heard a young man mentioning them. He was called Abraham."

                  2161
Qaloo fa/too bihi AAalaaAAyuni alnnasi laAAallahum yashhadoona
They said "Bring him before the eyes of the people so that they may be witness."

                  2162
Qaloo aanta faAAalta hatha bi-alihatinaya ibraheemu
They said "Did you do this to our gods O Abraham?"

                  2163
Qala bal faAAalahu kabeeruhum hathafais-aloohum in kanoo yantiqoona
He said "It was the biggest one of them here who did it, so ask them, if they do speak!"

                  2164
FarajaAAoo ila anfusihim faqalooinnakum antumu alththalimoona
So they turned and said to themselves "It is indeed ourselves who have been wicked!"

                  Fanathara nathratanfee alnnujoomi
Then he looked towards the stars.

                  3789
                  Faqala innee saqeemun
And he said "I am ill!"

So they turned away from him and departed.

                  Faragha ila alihatihimfaqala ala ta/kuloona
He then went to their gods and said "Can you not eat?"

And from their fathers and their progeny and their brothers We have also chosen; and We guided them to a straight path.

Such is the guidance of God, He guides with it whom He pleases of His servants. And if they set up partners, then all that they had worked would fall away from them.

We must remember that Abraham was a kind, compassionate man (1175), in fact he even asked for forgiveness for his father

                  9114
Wama kana istighfaruibraheema li-abeehi illa AAan mawAAidatin waAAadahaiyyahu falamma tabayyana lahu annahu AAaduwwun lillahitabarraa minhu inna ibraheema laawwahun haleemun
And Abraham seeking forgiveness for his father was only because of a promise he had made to him. But when it became clear that he was the enemy of God, he disowned him. Abraham was kind, compassionate.

Also how do you come to the conclusion that 0.1 % change their religion? And who are the ones who blame the entire groups for the beliefs?

Bro burhan is likely referring to 2152-67, however perhaps he can tell us where in Quran it praises this action or calls it right or says we should do this.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

                      peace,

Of course you failed. It's not possible to "prove" 100% beyond doubt in an objective manner. The Quran recognises this by using the word "iman" (belief/trust) for example.

Here is a good place to start
                      http//www.quran434.com/Does-God-Exist.pdf

                      Salaamun Wakas,

Such believe is blind as per him.
                      And does believe in God.

Salam/Peace dear brother MMKhan, see this article from Wakas MyPercept http//mypercept.co.uk/articles/Intelligent_Approach_to_Islam.htm

                        The Intelligent Approach to Islam

I first of all recognised that within Islam today, different "versions" of Islam are being practiced. With varying beliefs on certain issues/practices, although the core beliefs may still be the same. For example, you may yourself know that sects (subsections) within Islam exist, such as Sunni, Shiite, Sufi, Wahhabi, Nation of Islam etc. After recognising this fact, all I did was simply ask myself "How do I know I am following the correct "version" of Islam? This question is so simple, yet how many Muslims have actually asked themselves this question? Have you?

Investigation becomes vital. I found the following references from The Quran helpful regarding this topic

                        Sects condemned
Those who divide themselves into sects do not belong with you. Their judgment rests with GOD, then He will inform them of everything they had done. (6159)

The majority of people on earth misguided/disbelievers
If you obey the majority of people on earth, they will divert you from the path of GOD. They follow only conjecture; they only guess. (6116)
This is the right religion, but most people do not know. (3030)

Most of those who think they believe in God are actually idolaters
So many proofs in the heavens and the earth are given to them, but they pass by them, heedlessly! The majority of those who believe in GOD do not do so without committing idol worship. (12106)

One definition of an idolater and its consequence
Do not eat from that upon which the name of GOD has not been mentioned, for it is an abomination. The devils inspire their allies to argue with you; if you obey them, you will be idol worshipers. (6121)
GOD does not forgive idolatry, but He forgives lesser offences for whomever He wills. Anyone who sets up idols beside GOD, has forged a horrendous offence. (44

Some of those who think they are guided/believers are not
Some He guided, while others are committed to straying. They have taken the devils as their masters, instead of GOD, yet they believe that they are guided. (730)
On the day when we summon them all, we will ask the idol worshipers, "Where are the idols you set up?" Their disastrous response will be, "By GOD our Lord, we never were idol worshipers." Note how they lied to themselves, and how the idols they had invented have abandoned them. (622-24)

Do not blindly follow the religion/teachings of your parents
When they are told, "Follow what GOD has revealed herein," they say, "We follow only what we found our parents doing." What if their parents did not understand, and were not guided? (2170)
They commit a gross sin, then say, "We found our parents doing this, and GOD has commanded us to do it." Say, "GOD never advocates sin. Are you saying about GOD what you do not know?" (72

                        You should seek knowledge
And follow not of that which you have no knowledge, surely the hearing and the sight and the heart, all of these, shall be questioned about that. (1736)
And say "My Lord increase me in knowledge." (20114)
It is only those who have knowledge among His servants that truly fear God. (352
You who believe! If an evil-doer comes to you with a report, verify it, lest you harm a people in ignorance, then be sorry for what you have done. (496)
God will exalt those who believe among you, and those who have been granted knowledge to high ranks. (5811)

                        Conclusion

It is clear from the above reference that God does not want us to divide ourselves into sects. For example, I no longer class myself as a Sunni Muslim, just simply as a Muslim.
God also clearly points out that no-one truly knows who are the guided/believers apart from God alone. Maybe you, I or even the Imam in your local mosque may be misguided or an idolater. Knowing this, in combination with the references which stress upon the individual to seek knowledge, one should clearly research/investigate/question/verify all information given to them, even if it is from a scholar of Islam! Being a scholar of Islam does not automatically mean you are one of the guided ones (as shown by the references), at most, it can only mean it is more likely you are one of the guided ones, that is all. Therefore verifying what you are taught/told is crucial. How could one verify what they are taught/told? To put it simply... research.
This leads to the question how one should go about researching Islam? Reading books/leaflets/literature on Islam by various authors can be helpful, but it must remain in your mind at all times that the information you are reading may be wrong, as it may have been written by those who think they are guided but are not (including this article). A simple question... what is the only book on earth which has no human author, therefore could not be written by one of those who think they are guided but are not?
The answer I hope you thought of was The Quran. The Quran is the only book on earth which is the direct Word of God*, hence it would seem logical, to concentrate ones studies on such a book.
Many people, using my own observation, seem to prefer to study books either written on The Quran, or about Islam, rather than referring to the Word of God itself. A common misconception is that studying The Quran itself would be a difficult task. From my own studies, I have found this is not the case. I always recommend learning from the source (The Quran). Like I always say "Why ask a student when you can learn from The Teacher?".
I would like to finish off by recommending an approach to studying The Quran which in my opinion, is simple and logical. Even though I can read classical Arabic (which is the language The Quran is written in) I cannot understand it, so I cannot read the original Arabic Quran and base my studies on it. However, I can read the translations**, which are available in many languages throughout the world. The system I use is to read the English translations of The Quran, using several different translators, so I can compare verses. The most literal & simplest English translation I have found is by Free-Minds/ProgressiveMuslims. I also refer to translations by many others, mainly the following Yusuf Ali, Pickthal, Shakir, Rashad Khalifa and Muhamed Ahmed with his daughter Samira. Comparison of any translated verse using several of these translators is a must in any logical approach when studying The Quran. If you come across a discrepancy between the translations or something you'd like to clarify, you should compare as many translations as you can, and study the original Arabic.
A crucial technique in gaining the most accurate understanding involves cross-referencing of words/concepts/verses. For example if one is researching the topic of fasting, one must consider all relevant verses and the way in which specific words are used throughout al quran. Furthermore, very often a greater understanding can be gained from considering meanings of words from Classical Arabic dictionaries. A project aiming to provide students of the scripture with a comprehensive dictionary, concordance and grammar book in one, for free is underway www.studyquran.co.uk/PRLonline.htm

If it is still unclear, feel free to ask questions on this discussion board.

*of course you are free to question this belief, as it even states in The Quran

There shall be no compulsion in religion the right way is now distinct from the wrong way. Anyone who denounces the devil and believes in GOD has grasped the strongest bond; one that never breaks. GOD is Hearer, Omniscient. (2256)

but one should at least read The Quran before they decide to reject it. This would be the logical approach.

**please note that any translation of The Quran cannot be equated to the original Arabic Quran, therefore cannot be regarded as the direct Word of God. All translations are simply an interpretation of what is being said in the original Quran by the translator.

Grrr, you know the answer bro. You really do. ;D

You didn't include the reason I wanted to vote for. So I'll just write.

                          Salaamun Reel,

Oh I thank you for writing it here.

You see, Quran has some instructions and promises God made to us. They go hand in hand. How do we know? By following those instructions. You will definitely see what happens as a result. This is uncanny and insane. This truly is a sign he does not just exist, but also guides us.

Yes God does guide us but only through alQuraan?
God does not needed any medium to guide His creation. Right? Then why this book?

You cannot prove this to your friend. It is him who has to see it through his application. You can still give him a broader example. God said he would protect Quran and we see this to be true because it is a binary symmetric book and plus anyone can memorize it. You can't add and subtract verses from it. There is literally no evidence in 1400 years that this was done by humans.

alQuraan is not protected it has many versions.
Hafs and Warsh are two major versions.
Besides this I have a alQuraan in which it has 26 differences from the book we have today.
This alQuraan was given to my friend when he completed his a'alim degree.

                            From the article you posted

This is the main question, how are we going to prove it? Just by saying "what is the only book on earth which has no human author" doesn't prove that alQuraan is the direct word of God. Where is the reference from alQuraan on this claim?

We already believe that alQuraan is from God that's why we never question. But we have no evidence on it.

Red As of now i have not seen a verse saying that God guides only through Al-Quran.

Green I am not sure about that, in Al-Quran, Allah (SWTAY) says this

                                159
Inna nahnu nazzalna alththikrawa-inna lahu lahafithoona
Indeed it is We who have sent down the Reminder, and indeed it is We who will preserve it.

                                5675

                                Wa-innahu laqasamun law taAAlamoona AAatheemun
This is an oath, if only you knew, that is great.

                                5677
                                Innahu laqur-anun kareemun
                                It is an honorable Qur'an.

                                5678

Bro burhan is likely referring to 2152-67, however perhaps he can tell us where in Quran it praises this action or calls it right or says we should do this.

                                  Salaamun Wakas,

There has already been for you an excellent pattern in Abraham and those with him, when they said to their people, "Indeed, we are disassociated from you and from whatever you worship other than Allah. We have denied you, and there has appeared between us and you animosity and hatred forever until you believe in Allah alone" except for the saying of Abraham to his father, "I will surely ask forgiveness for you, but I have not for you anything against Allah. Our Lord, upon You we have relied, and to You we have returned, and to You is the destination.

                                    Salaamun dear brother The Sardar,

                                    From the article you posted
This is the main question, how are we going to prove it? Just by saying "what is the only book on earth which has no human author" doesn't prove that alQuraan is the direct word of God. Where is the reference from alQuraan on this claim?

We already believe that alQuraan is from God that's why we never question. But we have no evidence on it.

I am not sure about that, if you check the introductions in the forums, you may see some of the members questioning and coming to the conclusions that Quran is from The Creator.

                                    Bold Maybe this could

These are the signs of God, We recite them to you with the truth. So, in which narrative after God and His revelations do they believe?

                                    A note from Edip Yuksel

The followers of hadith and sunna deny the truth-value of this verse by claiming numerous contradictions (nasikh-mansukh) in the Quran (see 2106). It is a proof of divine authorship that, though the Quran was written in a time when superstitions and mythologies were popular, it does not contain even a trace of them. Comparing the verses of the Quran to the commentaries written centuries after it, such as Qurtubi, Ibn Kasir, Tabari, Nasafi, or to the hadith books, will highlight the uniqueness of the Quran. The Quran will stand out as a book that does not contain any falsehood.

The Quranic description of the earth, the solar system, the cosmos and the origin of the universe is centuries ahead of the time of its first revelation. For instance, the Quran, delivered in the seventh century C.E., states or implies that Time is relative (325; 704; 2247). God created the universe from nothing (2117). The earth and heavenly bodies were once a single point and they were separated from each other (2130). The universe is continuously expanding (5147). The universe was created in six days (stages) and the conditions that made life possible on earth took place in the last four stages (5038; 4110). The stage before the creation of the earth is described as a gas nebula (4111). Planet earth is floating in an orbit (2788; 2133; 3640). The earth is round (1024; 395; 5533) and resembles an egg (1024; 395; 7930). The universe is also round (5533). Oceans have subsurface wave patterns (2440). Earth's atmosphere acts like a protective shield (2132). Wind also pollinates plants (1522). The bee has multiple stomachs (1669). The workers in honeybee communities are females (166. After years of disappearance, Periodical Cicadas emerge all together with a cacophony of songs, testifying a similitude of resurrection for those who appreciate God's signs in the nature (547). The creation of living creatures follows an evolutionary system (769; 1528; 2445; 327; 7114). The earliest biological creatures were incubated inside flexible layers of clay (1526). The stages of human development in the womb are detailed (2314). Our biological life span is coded in our genes (3511). Photosynthesis is a recreation of energy stored through chlorophyll (3677). Everything is created in pairs (133; 5149; 3636). The atomic number, atomic weight and isotopes of Iron are specified (5725). Atoms of elements found on earth contain a maximum of seven energy layers (6512). There will be new and better transportation vehicles beyond what we know (168 ). The edges of land, that is shores, will be reduced in size because of human's reckless behavior (1341). The sound and vision of water and the action of eating dates (which contain oxytocin) reduce labor pains (1924). There is life (not necessarily intelligent) beyond earth (4229). The Quran correctly refers to Egypt's ruler who made Joseph his chief adviser as king (malik), not as Pharaoh (1243). Many of the miracles mentioned in the Quran, for instance, represent the ultimate goals of science and technology. The Quran relates that matter (but not humans) can be transported at the speed of light (2730); that smell can be transported to remote places (1294); that extensive communication with animals is possible (2716); that sleep, in certain conditions, can slow down metabolism and increase life spans (1825); and that the vision of blind people can be restored (349). The number of months in a year is stated as 12 and the word Month (shahr) is used exactly twelve times. The number of days in a year is not stated, but the word Day (yawm) is used exactly 365 times. The frequency of the word year (sana) in its singular form occurs 7 times and plural form 12 times and together 19 times; each number relating to an astronomic event. A prophetic mathematical structure based on the number 19 implied in chapter 74 of the Quran was discovered in 1974 by the aid of computers shows that the Quran is embedded with an interlocking extraordinary mathematical system, which was also discovered in the original parts of the Old Testament in the 11th century. And there's more much more. See 681; 7930; 741. Also see Appendix titled There is No Contradiction in the Quran.

If this has not helped then i have tried, i am no expert in Al-Quran, just a student.

Salam/Peace brother MmKhan, i have checked the verses before and after for my curiosity and found this

                                      601

O you who believe, do not take My enemy and your enemy as allies. You extend love to them, even though they have rejected the truth that has come to you. They drive you and the messenger out, simply because you believe in God, your Lord. If you are mobilizing to strive in My cause, seeking My blessings, then how can you secretly love them? I am fully aware of everything you conceal and what you declare. And whoever of you does this, then he has gone astray from the right path.

If they encounter you, they treat you as enemies, and they extend their hands and tongues against you to hurt you. They desire that you reject.

Neither your relatives nor your children will benefit you; on the Day of Resurrection He will separate between you. And God is Seer of what you do.

There has been a good example set for you by Abraham and those with him, when they said to their people "We are innocent from you and what you serve besides God. We have rejected you, and it appears that there shall be animosity and hatred between us and you until you believe in God alone." Except for the saying of Abraham to his father "I will ask forgiveness for you, but I do not possess any power to protect you from God." "Our Lord, we have put our trust in You, and we turn to You, and to You is the final destiny."

Certainly, a good example has been set by them for those who seek God and the Last Day. And whoever turns away, then God is the Rich, the Praiseworthy.

Perhaps God will grant compassion between you and those you consider enemies; and God is Capable. And God is Forgiving, Merciful.

O you who believe, if the believing females come emigrating to you, then you shall test them. God is fully aware of their belief. Thus, if you establish that they are believers, then you shall not return them to the rejecters. They are no longer lawful for one another. And return the dowries that were paid. And there is no sin upon you to marry them, if you have paid their dowries to them. And do not keep disbelieving wives, and ask back what dowries you paid. And let them ask back what dowries they had paid. Such is the judgment of God; He judges between you. God is Knowledgeable, Wise.

                                      6011

O prophet, if the believing females come to make allegiance to you that they will not set up anything besides God, nor steal, nor commit adultery, nor kill their children, nor fabricate any falsehood, nor disobey you in any matter which is righteous, then you shall accept their allegiance, and ask God to forgive them. God is Forgiver, Merciful.

O you who believe, do not ally a people with whom God is angry; for they have given-up regarding the Hereafter, just like the rejecters have given-up on the people who are already in the graves.

                                        peace brother khan,

i hope u doing good in life.

nobody can prove its from God
but nobody cannot also prove its not from God

take a different approach this time
instead of telling him scientific signs, literal excellency prophecies you should ask him what u find illogical in that text or anything that confirms its not from God
like errors of math or contradiction or non human behaviour what u can find in almost every religious text

                                        another important question

if this book is not from God then from who ?
book which confirm lot of things what we already experienced from last many centuries why didnt author write his name for that masterpiece

again things comes back to the history it must b aliens thats what some people beleive when they see some wonders like ancient seven wonders

if its from some human then they must know the future outcomes on top of that the challange what author gives to us humans and aliens and jinns we still unable to manage it from last many centuries
may b ur friend is interested in that challange police

                                        God bless you
