Salam,there is a physical salat

Peace be upon you,
If we do not fix the meanings, there will always be doubt. Thats the problem we are having with most of the words, everyone wants to have subjective translation. Translation must be objective and consistent.

As salamu alaykum.
Respectfully. The way i do my prayer is this way standing, bowing, prostrating.
Now, if anyone here has any evidence that any of these actions are NOT INSTRUCTED, please, share with all of us.However, if these actions ARE INSTRUCTED, also provide evidence.
Thanks.
As salamu alaykum. -
Peace,
the problem with these discussions is that you approach if salat's main meaning is prayer. This is false. Salat's main meaning is 'following closely to gain the best position' and refers to 'following the Divine commands' and Iqama-Salat means 'establish the System that is created by following the Divine commands'. As long as you think 'prayer' is the main meaning of Salat, you will have these frivolous discussions...Prayer is only a small part of the Deen.
Sujood can mean prostration as well as obeying, rukuu can mean bowing as well as humbling oneself. So both meanings can be used.

Salaam,
I second Arnold. I think it is best to start differentiating between du'a and salat.
Regarding "standing" (Qaf-Waw-Mim), "bowing" (Ra-Kaf-'Ayn), and "prostrating" (Sin-Jim-Dal), there are instructions. But whether we are going to approach it physically or otherwise is a different matter. Even though for me personally both ways are fine.=adley=

Thanks for the reminder.Salam.

Peace be upon you,
Iqama-Salat means 'establish the System that is created by following the Divine commands'
I have to disagree with that because what you present should be done at all times, however, salaat is time based and not all the time.
The only way we can follow anything is to FIRST program our spirits to manifest that type of behavior/instruction.
Iqama-Salat means to maintain the programming of your NAFS so that you can change your behavior to what it should be.

Peace bro,
Doesnt your translation also have to be done all the time? And 4103 refers to the gatherings of 4102. The rest of the timings mentioned in the Quran refers to establishing the Deen from sun up to sun down.
-
Peace be upon you brother,
Doesnt your translation also have to be done all the time?
No, my understanding is that there is a dawn salaat when you wake up and a dusk salaat as you get ready for bed. Preferably this should be at dawn and dusk literally. Before and after these times are private times.
The reason why the salaat times SURROUND sleep is because your DREAMS are means of furthering the programming your are doing with salaat. Many of us dicount dreams but they are part of life and for a reason.

Peace,
I'm very interrested in this, so i will await your article with eagerness. But i don't believe this is the main meaning of Salat. The meaning of Salat is determined through the context and cross-reference. And i don't believe we should fix one meaning to Salat. I believe 'following the Divine Commands closely to gain the best position as in 2 horses in a race where the second horse is gaining on the first horse' is the main meaning, and that let's call it 'prayer' for now is the second meaning in verses as 4102, also 'oath of allegiance' for 911 and so on.

Salam,
bro idol free, could we please see your article as soon as possible,i am really looking forward to it,it seems very very unique.Thanks.

Peace,
I don't agree with your conclusion that we should pick one out, plus you excluded the one i would have chosen first
-
Peace be upon you,
Wow, the pressure is on me ) I will truly try to finish it this weekend.
For the record, in regards to the thread Wakas shared, my understanding in terms of historical meanings is the "following closely", like the horse just behind the other horse. To follow closely is to IMITATE, and "Who" better to imitate than the God. We do so by programming the Divine Attributes in our spirit(nafs). Our job is to become "God-Like".
This is about Behavior Shaping.

And of HIS Signs are the night and the day and the sun and the moon. Prostrate not yourselves before the sun, nor before the moon, but prostrate yourselves before Allah, Who created them, if it is HIM Whom you really worship. This verse clearly says prostrate not before the sun or moon, but prostrate yourself before Allah, this verse clearly indicates physical prostration,as there is another sura where we see a people prostrating to the sun.

"I found her and her people prostrating before the sun, instead of GOD. The devil has adorned their works in their eyes, and has repulsed them from the path; consequently, they are not guided."Now we can see a people prostrating to the sun,it HAS to be a physical action. Some claim sujood is not physical and is purely obedience to the divine laws, then how could someone see a people obeying the divine laws of the sun??We see no such evidence, but it is not uncommon from current day hindu practices and from archaeology of the hittite people, that there are sun worshippers, who pay obeisiance and prostrate to the sun. Thus, this 2 verses in lieu clearly indicate the presence of physical prostration to God,and we cannot deny it is part of the quran.Salam.However, we find no people obeying laws of the sun,as there is no history of laws being dictated by the sun and there can never be.Salam.

Imploring Him is the only legitimate supplication, while the idols they implore beside Him, cannot ever respond. Thus, they are like those who stretch their hands to the water, but nothing reaches their mouths. The supplications of the disbelievers are in vain -
peace martin,
Please see the following thread
http//www.free-minds.org/forum1/viewtopic.php?t=866In any case, even if one proves a physical "sujood" in one or more signs, that does not change the fact that there are more signs clearly implying a non-physical "sujood".

Salam,
though there may be more verses implying a non physical sujud, that does not imply that we have to ignore those that implies a physical sujud as every verse in the quran is applicable and equally important.Salam
-
Peace be upon you Matinbhagat,
In case you did not read the thread that Wakas gave, let me give my rebuttal.
We are told not to prostrate before the sun or moon, but to the God who created them. The point is that the God is not a physical object, but the sun and moon ARE physical objects. What you have to ask yourself is WHY did the God choose TWO objects out of all the objects in teh world, and why not just use ONE for an example?
The reason is that ANYTIME you prostrate during the day, you are prostrating to the Sun, and anytime you prostrate during the night you are prostrating to the moon. The prostration the God requires is INNER prostration of your BEHAVIOR.
(all capital letters are for emphasis only).
