Ramadan? 2007

However, unlike what you guys think, God does things for a reason.
Er.......excuse me?! Are you convinced of the veracity of this statement?
Who in this discussion thinks God does things without a reason?
It certainly is NOT me, by any stretch of any imagination. As I see it, every bit of creation, everything that happens IS for a reason.
Nothing exists or happens without an a priori 'reason'.

Yes, he sends messengers to bring the book, i.e. the message, and he sends nabis to explain it, from the book itself. Examples of this are already in the Quran.
And when the messenger is also a Prophet then he is expected to deliver and explain the message. Muhammad was both. As for "the book" it is not limited by the Qur'an as the Qur'an itself explains it.
Ilisa, then why did God send a human messenger if He did not want him to explain the message?! Also, if God sent a parrot as a messenger then there will be no fighting as to how to understand the "obey the messenger" or that there would not have been a statement like it, because people do not obey parrots. One will have to contemplate the wisdom of God there and not ignore it or pay it lip service only.
Take care all
Hussein

I see and understand that God explained the message in the Qur'an via the messenger. The problem I have is in seeing what hadith collectors have to do with any of this. If God had wanted us to follow what they've collected, I would think He would have mentioned something about them to come. I'm sure He was aware of what would happen years later. (!!)
If the message had come via a parrot, I agree that it would not have been effective would be for humans. But there is still a lot we can learn from parrots and their behavior.

Sweet Majidah,
other times I just feel hungry and in bad mood because of my low bloodsugar.
I'm sorry to here that. For me it is a lesson and a practice of patience and sacrifice to God, despite some uncomfort, and that is what I try to keep in mind. But I guess if not eating makes you moody and you are not able to control your emotions during hard times (or low blood sugar) nor understand the benefit of fasting, laa ikraaha feedeeni. I pray God doesn't test you too hard in this life, especially as it concerns food. Are you sure you don't have any medical problems, possibly hypoglycemia? Fasting is not supposed to be easy, but we also can compensate for it if we suffer through it. Maybe you may need to go out and find some people to feed for the days you are supposed to fast if you feel like you are only suffering when you fast.

The qur'an points to them in many ways
1- the ones who follow the messenger. This applies to the ones who communicated his life and actions because they followed him.
2- Ulama= people of knowledge. This includes any knowledge including the knowledge of the prophet's life and actions and how they relate to the Qur'an.
3- Uli al amr= people of the implement and this points to two groups, the rulers and the ones who know the practice of the religion through the messenger.
Take care and have a great day

Peace Anwar,
I don't know what it calls really in medical terms in English language but I have low bloodpressure and my bloodsugar gets very low when I'm not eat within a time of 3 hours. I became dizzy and angry or bad mood. So in my case it's not healthy to fasting. I have suffering so many years during ramadan because I thought that I had to fast and that there was no other option.
But you said I can feed poor and needy people during this time!? Where is that mentioning in Quran?
Thanks for your explanations!
Peace be upon you
Majidah

peace,
Here you go Sweden Majidah
2184 A few number of days; however, if any of you is ill or traveling, then the same number from different days; and as for those who can do so but with difficulty, they may redeem by feeding the needy. And whoever does good voluntarily, then it is better for him. And if you fast it is better for you if you knew.
And the condition you have is called hypoglycemia (low blood sugar if you don't eat for a certain amount of time), i am surprised you were able to fast at all...my wife has it too, so I know how it's like.
-
Peace,
Thanks DArgento. I was just getting ready to post it and saw that you had done this already.
Sweden Majidah,
Don't take this as critical, but you should study your Quran more. If there is a subject that bothers you atleast look for verses on it in the index or through a search online with words that have to do with this. However, overall, I have learned more by consistently reading and studying the Quran (and paying attention to what it says, who it writes things in Arabic, etc) than I could ever learn listening to the people here who claim to just follow the Quran, or from traditional scholars who claim to know the Quran more than anyone else.

Thanks for your help and understanding of my problem
To Anwar Well my life hasn't been so easy but it's a private matter and that have make me many times lazy to research things. So much easier to ask someone who might know. But the real me is a searcher so there might still be some hope for me Insha Allah soon.
Peace sis Majidah

Peace,
That sure sounded like hypoglycemia to me, and DArgento confirmed that. Thanks. Sweden Majidah, you might want to cut out as much processed sugar as you can. White sugar, high fructose corn syrup, sodas, candy, donuts, pastries etc. I read along time ago when I read as much as I could on herbs, natural medicine, etc. that hypolgycemia has a correlation with diabetes. Processed foods are the devil (not literally but you know what I mean), and the more unprocessed, natural whole foods you can eat the better. White sugar is bad, bad, bad. The only really good sugar you an get is either the fresh pressed sugar cane or sucanat/rapadura/piloncillo/jaggury (the dehydrated juice). Any sugar besides that, if it is not raw (preferably unfiltered) honey, fresh or dried fruit or something straight from the plant (like palm sugar for instances) consider it bad, bad, bad. In addition you might want to add cinammon tea to your regimen it can help stablize sugar absorbtion. I pray your situation gets better.
Godbless,
Anwar -
Peace,
Glad to be of help sun
Hypoglycemia is also referred to as Pre-diabetes. Naturally when you are hypoglycemic you end up eating too much sugar which in turn causes diabetes. And I will confirm that cinnamon is a great sugar stabilizer especially if your sugar gets too high (witnessed this first-hand). Eat frequent, short meals. Any kinds of nuts are also very good for increasing blood-sugar. Follow the advice of Anwar above. Don't eat too much sugar or it will lead to diabetes which is not good at all.
Good luck.
Anwar, make sure to steer us back on-topic D
-
Peace both Anwar and Jack,
Thanks for your advices and I think I will visit a Doctor to be sure that I'm not having Diabetes already.
I know that sugar is evil for the body and really I don't add sugar to my food or drinks but I know that also wrong kind of carbohydrates in too big amounts aren't good either so I try to balance my intake and eat small dishes spread througout the day and also drink alot of fresh water.
Ok, so back to the real topic, sorry!!!!
Peace
Majidah -
Peace,
Sweden Majidah, don't just look at it as white sugar that you add, look at it as the processed sugar that is put in any processed product. You don't have to add any sugar to anything but can be eating way too much sugar. From tomatoe sauce, to jelly/jams, to pancake syrups, sodas, juices, ice-cream, cookies and pastries. These are the things that you will have to cut out of your diet in order to protect yourself from diabetes. Honestly, I think that looking at the issue as simple carbohydrates and complex carbohydrates is the worse way you can look at it. Honestly it is an issue of processed food and non-processed foods. If you only ate natural dried fruits, sugar cane (or natural dehydrated 100% sugar cane), natural 100% sweet tree saps (like maple sugar and palm sugar), sorghum syrups etc. you would most likely have not run into this problem. The ingredients we use nowadays are totally processed, unhealthy and unnatural, and we find ourselves addicted tro junk food because that is what it is supposed to do, addict us. All those foods mentioned above (tomatoe sauce, jelly/ jams etc) are all culprates of you intake of processed sugar, whether you add sugar to your food or not. My advice as hard as it may be for you is to go cold turkey, cut all these foods and find healthy alternatives, you might even want to lay off of all sweets altogether. I would recomend something smar to the Atkins diet for a while (vegetables (carrots, string beens, leafy greens) also have enough complex carbohydrates for you to be successful on this diet). I think it will help you kick the sweet tooth, you will find after a few months that your taste buds have changed and then you can start to work natural whole food carbohydrates (simple and complex) into your system again if you choose to. But Modern Processed foods are the devil. Please read through (better said scour through www.westonaprice.org he is in my mind the most beneficial researcher as it concerns diet that there could ever have been). You will see who Cod liver oil, a product that hails from your lands is in all essence a superfood.
To get back on topic. in the end 2184 is clear. If you suffer while you fast compensate it by feeding someone needy for each day of fasting you would miss.
Godbless,

Peace Anwar,
I appreciate your advice about my food to eat for better health. I must though defend myself a bit ) I haven't been addicted to junkfood and processed food during a long time. I use to cook my own food from fresh or frozen ingredients. But one thing that I have eat more than I should eat is "bread" even if I eat whole grains bread I know that consuming too much bread aren't good.
Thanks again for your concern!
Peace Majidah

AnwarDearest Anwar,
Didn't the Almighty Allah/God said in one of His/Her verses in the Quran that He/She only wishes to make our Deen/Lifepath/"Spiritual" System easier for us and absolutely not hard? What do you mean then by the word 'suffer'? (See the underlined sentence.)
I'm at the moment not fasting, simply because this year is not a good year for me to fast. Although I will try to fast when I can, so that I can hear my innervoice more clearly. Atleast... I think fasting helps me more in getting to know my innervoice.
Waiting for your reply.

Peace,
Fasting is not supposed to be easy, but we also can compensate for it if we suffer through it.
Sister I mean just that. The Quran says that if we suffer through fasting we can compensate for it so that we do not suffer.
If you think I am saying that we should suffer during fasting this is mistaken as you can see from the above I am saying that the Quran says that if we suffer when we fast we can compensate for it.Didn't the Almighty Allah/God said in one of His/Her verses in the Quran that He/She only wishes to make our Deen/Lifepath/"Spiritual" System easier for us and absolutely not hard?
Now the wording in this is funny. God says that he does not wish harship on us. THe word used is haraj (as i have seen) and this means being put in a situation that stresses you out or makes you extremely embarrassed. I don't think God says that God's way is easy. In a later surah God says 'fa laa iqtahama al-&aqabata' talking about the two ways he has shown us. and he (mankind) has not rushed on to the steep path. This shows that God's path is a steep one and climbing up steep paths is not easy but it is not one that you have to be stressed out about or embarassed about. That path includes things like freeing the one in slavery or in bondage, or feeding during a time of hunger, orphans who are close to you or people in need. So doing these things is not easy, but it is no reason for haraj either.
That is why the Quran clearly tells us that if we suffer through fasting we can compensate for it, or if we are in need of food then we can eat what is forbidden as long as we are not trying to be ungodly (baaghin) and break God's laws (aadin) and are under duress , with no other choice (udturra).
In the end sabr is something that God helps us with. The Quran says 'wallaahu ma&a asaabireena and he says when we pass through hard times (aldarraa'u and al-ba'saa'u) that we say 'innaa lillaahi wa innaa lahu raaji'oona' So our path is not easy, no. But God does not desire for us to be stressed out or embarrased either. In some cases that is a mindset that we must accept and in some cases it is physical like in the case of fasting where God offers a compensation for those who cannot fast. I just want it to be known that everything we do is not supposed to be easy and God never said that all this will be easy. But he does not want us to be stressed out or embarrased either, in which case we either have to fix our mindsets and excercese sabr (patience and perserverance) or go to God on how we can compensate for something that we will suffer through. Especially when it comes the rituals he gives us to excercise our faith to Him.

And it doesn't help that Sweden is a real bread-country unlike many hot countries. Sandwiches are an everyday thing in Sweden... and bread is basically sugar, except that it doesn't taste that sweet.
Peace Ulf,
Yeah you are right, Sweden is the country of the sandwiches indeed.
But I have found a bread that is the healthiest I can find in a normal supermarket for sure and it's an unsweet bread of whole grains and it's made in Germany. I eat one slice of that bread for breakfast together with some almonds and whalenuts and drink a cup of greentea.
But then I don't eat more bread for my other meals.I have read about a seed call quinoa and I will try it and see if it's tasty and then i can substitute it for rice.
Peace
Maria -
Peace,
I have tried quinoa, it's good. I actually prefer millet and raw peanuts (made into peanut milk by soaking, blending and straining). However, you should really avoid all grains. Especially if you are eating white rice and you are hypogycemic that is bad. White rice is a no, no. I like red whole bhuta rice, however millet (and teff) and of course the legume peanuts (legumes are as high in starch as any grain) are my favorite. I could do fine without the rest. However keep in mind that you should be eating whole grains and/or soured dough grains if you eat grains at all. And even in this case I would try to limit the grains considerably, stick to natural meats & milk (if you can) and butter and vegetables. You should look towards getting most of your calories from fats instead of grains for a good long while because of your blood sugar condition. Remember that if you eat alot of meats and high fat and protein foods, simple vegetables and greens will cover your carbohydrate needs. And don't forget to drink your cinammon tea (no sugar, and I don't think you'll need it).
Godbless,
Anwar
