Peace be with you as well. 37 is talking about the clear verses which are The foundation of the Quran. There are also, the "look-alike verses" of the Quran which are kind of Ambiguous, and it is these that God Almighty knows their exact true meaning. An example is the "cut the hands". Is it Cut metaphorically 538 or physically marking 1231 or amputating the whole hand 7124?). Surely, All of these examples, the word used is "cut", however, we see a range of meaning form metaphorical to Physical. These verses would all be "look-alike" verses, and somewhat ambiguous if one doesn't study the Quran, and look at the uses and deeper meaning of Cut and the Hands Good point. Jizya also is another example and ma malakat aymanukum. The verse talked about also tells us that those who have a sickness in them will use thses type of verses to spin their meanings and try to pass their own agendas. Its important we formulate our understanding by looking at the explicit clear meaning verses and take the Quran as a whole and use the explicit verses to interpret the ambiguous verses. Amputation can violate the hand for a hand law of the Quran since any punishment must be proportional to the crime commited and we are ordered to judge by equity and not to respond with excess. Often the Sects will chase after and spin these ambiguous verses and abrogate the explicit verses to alter the meaning of the Quran and its intended message. Abrogation is one way these Sects managed to alter the teachings of the Quran. Just like God inflicts upon us good and bad to see how we will respond, the Quran has explicit and implicit verses to see how we will respond.

Salaam Zulf, I hope you are well. You have got me a little nostalgic about Pakistan now! I've been saying for the past three years that I want to go back, but I haven't done it as yet. Anyhow, I am not particularly into winter sports or anything, but when I was younger, I always imagined I would go skiiing when I was older. Now, that I am older, I realised I better actually start doing all those things on my "To Do" list before it's too late! Zulf, do you mean "gora" or "ghora"? Beginner's poetry, I'm sure I can try to do a search on Google because I got into reading classical Urdu poetry after reading a history of the Urdu language. So, I had learned basic Urdu when I was younger and I went straight onto the hardcore stuff. Would you want it in Latin script or nastlik? We have so hijacked this thread. Rangrez.

Which English translation is the above? I like to send my relatives back home English translation of the Koran. So far, Ahmed Ali seems to be best. That is Rashad Khalifa's translation with a lot of (....) added in. I like Edips Reformist translation. It's a different take on some things, very similar to Free Minds translation as Layth was involved in it and there is a lot of other extra information and opinions on verses and meanings and cross references to Biblical stories. It's interesting some of his views and understandings on some issues. It's worth having in your collection for comparative studies none the less.

Peace safia. I am not replying to give you answers to your questions. I shall try and list few points that may or may not be helpful to you 1)- It is a good thing that you have a lot of questions. It can be a positive start. 2)- Try using other translations ( like the one from this site or from submission site) and compare the translations. 3)- If you are sincere , try your Lord, keep asking HIM to explain to you, and be patient . I wish you all the best in your journey. Peace

Peace be with you guys as well, Yes as Student of Allah put it. Iblis/satan did not know that he would be kicked out by disobeying. This would be why his response was because you sent me astray, i will distort for them , your straight path 1716 This would mean that Iblis didn't know that he will be kicked out before hand. and a thing about arrogance I will divert from My revelations those who are arrogant on earth, without justification. Consequently, when they see every kind of proof they will not believe. And when they see the path of guidance they will not adopt it as their path, but when they see the path of straying they will adopt it as their path. This is the consequence of their rejecting our proofs, and being totally heedless thereof.

Peace all, From WIKIPEDIA The bonobo ( /bnobo/ or /bnbo/), Pan paniscus, previously called the pygmy chimpanzee and less often, the dwarf or gracile chimpanzee, is a great ape and one of the two species making up the genus Pan; the other is Pan troglodytes, or the common chimpanzee. Although the name "chimpanzee" is sometimes used to refer to both species together, it is usually understood as referring to the common chimpanzee, while Pan paniscus is usually referred to as the bonobo. It is distinguished by relatively long legs, pink lips, dark face and tail-tuft through adulthood, and parted long hair on its head. The bonobo is found in a 500,000 km2 (190,000 sq mi) area of the Congo Basin in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Central Africa. The species is omnivorous and inhabits primary and secondary forests, including seasonally inundated swamp forests. The bonobo is popularly known for its high levels of sexual behavior. Sex functions in conflict appeasement, affection, social status, excitement, and stress reduction. It occurs in virtually all partner combinations and in a variety of positions. This is a factor in the lower levels of aggression seen in the bonobo when compared to the common chimpanzee and other apes. Bonobos are perceived to be matriarchal; females tend to collectively dominate males by forming alliances and use sexuality to control males. A male's rank in the social hierarchy is often determined by his mother's rank. Along with the common chimpanzee, the bonobo is the closest extant relative to humans. Because the two species are not proficient swimmers, the formation of the Congo River 1.5?2 million years ago possibly led to the speciation of the bonobo. They live south of the river, and thereby were separated from the ancestors of the common chimpanzee, which live north of the river. There are no concrete data on population numbers, but the estimate is between 29,500 and 50,000 individuals. The species is listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List and is threatened by habitat destruction and human population growth and movement, though commercial poaching is the most prominent threat. It typically lives 40 years in captivity, though its lifespan in the wild is unknown. @lordfox Would you like to start the philosophical sex discussion from the bonobo's level of evolution or lower? hmm peace

Salam Aryan I wonder how you interpret 5822 where the word wali isnt used (if Im wrong pls correct) 5822 You will not find people who believe in GOD and the Last Day befriending those who oppose GOD and His messenger, even if they were their parents, or their children, or their siblings, or their tribe. For these, He decrees faith into their hearts, and supports them with inspiration from Him, and admits them into gardens with flowing streams wherein they abide forever. GOD is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him. These are the party of GOD. Most assuredly, GOD's party are the winners. peace Actually that word is NOT "befriending" but rather "loving" and it says "oppose". Horrible translation there dude. Opposition refers to hostility I believe here and also agreed upon within tafsirs. And again remember 608-9 which states if they aren't hostile, we can be good to one another.

I have an idea that will keep you both busy. Get some " qu rans for dawah" printed for "soldiergirl". I directed her your way last week. ( in this forum) I said you might not believe in "qu ran for dawah" but on the other hand this will keep you occupied. You might also work as a team and be civil to each other. Peace. Your tone made me LMAO.

Hello, Very interesting.. What is "iman" & "mumin" ? And Where in the quran can we read "muslim" ? Tank you Peace Quran is to respond to the sense of the ayat; and to behave so that the ayats of Quran is appreciated by the people around you; hence Quran is not for sporting your abilities to dispute and your disputable abilities. .

I'd never heard of Tao Che Ching before. I have bookmarked it and will certainly read about that later when I have more time. This is certainly a bit of a dilemma. I went on Saturday to buy a copy of the Qur'an as a present for somebody, but they were all too oversubscribed to the sunnah. In retrospective, it is hardly surprising, I suppose I was far too optimistic, but after having faced the harsh reality, I decided to not pass on the propaganda.

The dead have been restored to life to demonstrate God's signs several times in the quran. Refer to 273 (Moses demonstrates), 2259 (random person is killed & resurrected), 2260 (Abraham is shown birds being restored). It is also true that after the unjust die, they are prevented from returning by a barrier (23100). Also that when an entire nation is destroyed by God, they are not allowed to come back either (2195).

Peace be with you as well, well, Adam might have been a forefather to the human race. Surely humans have evolved from their precedents (769) Salam , the verse you mentioned talk about the "community " of " Aad " the successors after "Noah" these communities and the ones who come after them that Quaran mention "Tamoud " " Median " the comunity of moses ,lot ..etc are all classified in the Quran as children of Adam , they are named " bachar" 149 Did not news come to you of those before you the people of Noah, and 'Aad, and Thamud, and those after them whom none know except God? Their messengers came to them with clarity, but they placed their hands onto their mouths and said "We are rejecting what you have been sent with, and we are in doubt as to what you are inviting us to." 1410 Their messengers said "Is there doubt regarding God, the initiator of the heavens and the earth? He invites you so that He may forgive some of your sins, and delay you to an appointed term." They said "You are merely "Bachar " like us; you wish to turn us away from what our fathers used to serve. So come to us with a clear proof." Adam did not evolved from other "human being species " with better design / capacities 1529 "So when I "made " him, and blow from My Spirit in him, you shall yield to him." Adam did not evolved from other "human being species " because the verse 3875 mention clearly that 3875 He said "O Satan, what prevented you from yielding to what I have created by My hands? Are you too arrogant? Or are you one of those exalted?" The verse you mention do not include all the "poeple / nations /Annas " that existed at that time , the verse only talk about children of Adam My point is using the word "Human" or the human being when you analyse that topic is not precise. my other point is that the "poeple / nations /Annas " that exist today are not all of them from "Adamh" surely they get in connection with the other nations /nas that was before them in the earth.

Absolutely sister, when the topic comes up or presents itself, speak nicely and invite to God with wisdom and kind enlightenment. Give them something to think about! We never know how God's will works. You could have a simple conversation like with your dad and nothing comes of it, yet maybe months or years down the road, maybe that little seed you planted will take root and blossom, God willing. It's all we can do. For example, the one brother who converted was someone I trained at our workplace. We got to talking about God in general and I just was having fun asking him questions and making him think. We had a good time with it and I thought it was just like everyone else I ever spoke to - it would amount to nothing. I didn't see him at all after training and around 3 weeks later, he shows up unannounced, knocking the door of my house. I was completely surprised and when I opened the door he said he was doing a lot of thinking about things we talked about and came to the conclusion that he wanted to study the Quran and wanted to know about prayer! I gave him a copy of Quran and that was 15 years ago and he is still a faithful, practicing believer and one of my closest friends. You just never know what will happen from a few simple conversations. sun
