http//spectator.org/dsp_article.asp?art_id=13139 The Hadith Bomb By Peter Hannaford Published 5/1/2008 120715 AM Some time this year 35 Turkish scholars will release the results of a three-year project to reinterpret the hadith, comments on the words and deeds of the prophet Mohammed. It is likely to have the effect of dropping a bomb in the Muslim world. While the Koran is considered to be the word of God as revealed to Mohammed, the hadith, which were compiled two centuries after his death in 632, have long been subject to interpretation. The team of theological scholars at Ankara University, working under the aegis of the Diyanet, Turkey's state authority for religious affairs, have been closely examining the hadith Much of Sharia law is based on the hadith. The scholars have been doing their work with an eye toward reinterpreting or eliminating those that are apocrypha or culturally inspired for purposes of social control. Hadith have been used, for example to justify the oppression of women and the stoning of adulterers. Some scholars believe that the requirement that women wear veils was inspired not by Islam, but by Byzantine aristocrats. Turkey, whose secular nature is written into its constitution, has a religiously conservative government. The Justice and Development Party (AKP) won a solid majority in last summer's election, but is now locked in a legal battle with the secular establishment over its easing of a ban on veils on university campuses. The AKP sees the easing of the veil restriction as a case of the camel's nose under the tent. Defenders of the measure counter that the AKP wants to gradually impose religious rules on the country. If the secular establishment -- made up of military, judicial and republican elements -- wins the case, the AKP itself may be ruled illegal. Against this backdrop, the reinterpretation of the hadith is seen as a way for the government to show that it is modern and reform-minded. In a recent interview, Mehmet Gormez, deputy director of the Diyanet, said that the reinterpretation was intended to make the proverbs, sayings and commentary that make up the hadith "more suitable to 21st Turkish people and more scientifically and historically accurate." While the project's immediate audience is the Turkish people, one of the underlying reasons for undertaking it was to assist Turkey in its bid to join the European Union. Putting a reformist stamp on Turkey's governing party seems to be a latter-day objective. Once it is made public, the scholars' report will have an impact well beyond Turkey's borders. The reaction of Saudi Arabia's most conservative Wahabbist clerics is likely to be fiercely disapproving, not to mention the reaction of various Egyptian clerics and scholars, let alone the Osama bin Ladens and Ayman al-Zawahiris of this world. These radical Islamists and their allies are dedicated to imposing the strictest Sharia law by establishing a Seventh Century theocracy -- a caliphate -- based in Baghdad. As we have seen, their strategy for achieving this is to use murder and terror to gain land. They will not take lightly the "reinterpretation" by some Turkish scholars of their favored means of social control. Peter Hannaford is a member of the Committee on the Present Danger.

I would recommend abortion if the soul wasn't blown yet in the fetus ( before 120 days). And I'll ask her husband to divorce her so she won't conceive from him again .

Peace, Respectfully. Well, let's take United States of America. It is a melting pot and people have come from all over the globe there to be free, to have a chance of survivial. So, now that i live here in Leicester, i see many white British who are imitating Somalis, there are lots of them from Somalia due to the civil war there. They dress like sunnis from Arab countriesd, because Somalis dress like those guys from Arab countries and also at the same time, they dress like their forefathers in Africa. I have seen people here who wear same clothes like those in Africa, which is okay with me but such clothes are now enforced on men and especially women even though the climate here does not agree with this style and such clothes. It's raining today and i don't understand where do they see the logic in walking around in hijabs when they are completely wet? God knows best. Glory be to God, The Most Wise. Peace.

Peace, Respectfully. I don't like where this is going. I really don't like this whole matter. I mean, if we start arguing with each other and fighting each other then we won't be different then them. Furthermore, this is what satan the rejected weants to split us up. Divide and conquer, huh? We have to stick together, we have to stay united and fight to the end. We have to stay together, let's not do this. We have to sit down and discuss things and make sure that things that help our community are our priorities. May God helps us all. Peace.

Yo Jim.. hahahah this is embarrasing..I am a 39 yr old male...'it's a boy!!!,all wrapped in blue sheets'... okay. Okay here it goes...remember this, no one can really stop you from doing what you want. They did not stop those guys from writing hadiths which have seemed to have replaced the quran for so many 'muslims'... In the quran God said do not use his system for monetary gains..That was what HE said...In your heart if you feel that you are not doing this for personal monetary gains you would be able to seek peace with God with ease. Didn 't we print the quran at this site to be sold-yes, not for personal monetary gains though! (i ordered a copy too ..) They say don add music but they talk about Tajweed..like what's up with that? I am NOT trying to offend Arnab or anyone, I am just mentioning what have been written in the forum thus far...you see 'no to music yes to music'.. 'If is in arabic,it is 'islamic'-ha....don translate the quran..it is okay to read the arabic quran w/o understanding yadaayda' fftopic Are you convinced about what you wanna do is to promote peace and spread the message..Just make sure what you do does not appear on MTV...Be prepared to take critism.. I sincerely pray there will be no one trying to prosecute you or put a price on your head..I am not joking!! God bless you bro... Peace broter I am sorry I thought you are a woman , nice to meet you brother . Peace

peace ok i've read some other topics related to this, it's very interesting. i gotta say i'm curious about people who died in this world and are now in this astral world, many say they are gonna be reincarnated here on earth again, but i don't think this reincarnation really goes with what God talks about in the quran. but these dead people that are there... (i know i asked many times before and i gotta ask again) shouldn't they be in heaven or hell? or are heaven and hell in this astral world?

"2430 Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty that will make for greater purity for them And Allah is well acquainted with all that they do. " Peace The believers are members of one family; you shall keep the peace within your family and reverence GOD, that you may attain mercy. how I can think bad thoughts in the God's home, how we can to call someone who look at the women as a animal a believer, then if you've a psychic problem towards women why you don't use Niquab , also women sometimes in the street catches men . I haven't problem for praying God behind a woman , the concentration in the prayer is an obligation sun Peace

Peace all i believe Trusting in God is the only path to take. Whatever the outcome it will always be the best if He decides. I agree my wife can be totally unsupportive when it comes to nonsense emanating from her family. The issue of them talking to her when I am not around is always evident when she has a new idea about something like getting a house or me giving her pocket money even though she knows our financial situation. I usually have to put her mindset right after one of those chats. She always wonders how I can be gentle about things. Its the best option. Gentle coercion works a treat. My in-laws have no other complaint about me as a son in law, just that I wont be a Barelwi like them. TAJ My wife's passiveness towards her family is understandable to a certain degree, but its the believing of every word that comes out of her brother's mouth without verifying it that I find frustrating. He said our marriage is null and void so it must be. Not even a question like how did you come to that conclusion brother? I had a nice chat with my dad and older brother. They are Barelwis, my brother follows a pir to the letter, even tries to talk like him. They keep trying to equate my beliefs with not believing in the rasool. Its difficult sometimes trying to counter these illogical things with logical reasoning. My family is cottoning on to the idea of using the quran as primary source. A comrade on this site sent me a link to Mohammed Shaikh of IIPC, interesting lectures, plus he has them in Urdu, so my family can understand it easily. I'm evaluating his stance though to make sure it all makes sense. very interesting stuff though.

Please be careful when posting sarcastic/satirical/tongue-in-cheek comments. They can be taken the wrong way very often, as it is difficult to determine the context/tone/intentions behind them on a forum, thus losing their impact and generally useless if misunderstood. Kindly ensure that it is kept to a minimum, and made clear as to what it was that is/was being posted for the benefit of the readers and the forum.

Peace, Respectfully. It is simple. God sees the future and this is what they will say. There are many proofs in the Quran where God Most Powerful says what will we say on Judgment Day, what will we say in Heaven and what will they say in Hell. God sees the future because he lives outside Time. Glory be to our God. Peace. Peace Alen thanks a lots for your answer , you are wise man , but broter Please tell me how you see the verse number 19 chapter 72 "you didn't see it happened already ? also if it happened , you don'tsee the Abdallah name is a popular name ? also you didn't see that God noting can to stop him for to say , when the God's messenger Mohamamd or Ahmad advocated Him alone, almost all of them banded together to oppose him. ? why they don't say that this messenger his true name is Abdallah , they don't see the abdallah name is a popular name ? 7219] When GOD's servant advocated Him alone, almost all of them banded together to oppose him. thanks broter I wish to you all the best God bless you

Erm... to discuss the video. I notice you left this comment If you are going to quote quran do quote the text instead of according to this and that. Your misinformation only leads yourself and other people into ignorance. The quran never claims most of the stuff you've said so keep living in ignorance. Now perhaps you can tell me what misinformation am I spreading? Thanks

It is not for the prophet and those who believe that they should seek forgiveness for those who have set up partners, even if they are relatives, after it has been made clear to them that they are the dwellers of Hell. And Abraham seeking forgiveness for his father was only because of a promise he made to him. But when it became clear that he was God's enemy, he disowned him. Abraham was kind, compassionate. I think that sufficiently answers the question. Even Noah was asked to let go of his son. Given that God is most merciful, I doubt that if we make it to heaven we will have mercy on someone whom God has shown no mercy, even if they are family. We break ties of kinship when we move cities, I wonder how close we will be with our nearest when we move worlds.

Salaam We cannot assume from few verses that Prophet Sulaiman or Dawood for that matter didn't suffer as much as any other Prophets. My understanding is that everyone goes through struggle and suffering in life relative to their physical and mental state which The God knows beforehand. This lifes purpose is to progress and struggle is something we will come across to prove to The God we are worthy. How can you have a reward without working for it? elektro Observing laws in life will show you that there's a sequence to things and nothing happens instantly even though it may seem like that for us. Suffering is just a part of life we have to endure with to show The God we are worthy of evolving into a higher being. For instance you can't goto gym and expect to lift big weights straight away.....its all about endurance, patience and understanding of training that gives you good results even though it may seem your body is suffering while your training or hurting. PEACE

Peace Jim19, This is working the problem backwards; i.e. keep searching/choose input until output is 34 or other predetermined value. Peace Bigmo, http//www.searchtruth.com/search.php?keyword=prostrate&chapter=&translator=5&search=1&start=0&records_display=50&search_word=exact The word(s) "prostrate" appears 48 time(s) in 39 verse(s) in Quran in M. Khan Translation. Less 3 in parenthesis leaves 45 times not 34. Therefore, case can be made for 45 or other number with same logic depending which words/verses to include/exclude. Peace I will share with you my work soon, God willing Peace
