The same is true with my family. During Christmas they do not serve pork or at least have alternatives and my brothers are atheists so they do not celebrate it due to Jesus. Only my mother is somehow with faith but not too obsessed with Jesus. In Sweden we do not even call it Christ-mas but like the previous poster said we call it "Jul". Jul is a very old Nordic tradition from times we believed in "tomte" and "troll". Originally the "tomte" (which Santa Claus is one of) was a hidden creature that did bad things in your home unless you appeased to it. But today's Christmas (Jul) is just having fun about our old superstition by bringing the strange man of Santa Claus, also known as "tomten" which the young children are often afraid of. The giving of gifts and being overly friendly I think is from that the "tomte" will do bad things if they see unfriendliness within the home. Nowadays we say to children that "tomten" (Santa Claus) will only come if the children have been good. Originally it had a lot to do with superstition though. People were truly afraid of "tomtar" as well as trolls. It is similar to the belief in Jinns. It is a bit Pagan but not more Pagan that believing in Jinns. Be safe Amenuel

Thank you for the thorough explanation. I can see the flaw in the way I am reasoning but I think I need time to fully absorbe the concept. I don't agree with the Ford example simply because I can't see it being applied to the Quran. Ford with 60 miles per litre and than improves on that simply means that human can improve. The Quranic verse has been sent as the best way to follow our religion and is till the end of world therefore the concept of something being a better approach over what the Quran asks is impossible. I understand now that the verse doesn't put any hardship on the person and I like your thought that states the Quran not being specific in regards to how many times you have to wash(as some can be dirtier than others) Having said that, would you be able to express your thoughts on the verse now? The 56 says 1- Wash the face 2- Wash the arms to the elbows 3- Wipe the head 4- Wipe the feet to the ankles. Why wash for face and arms and not feet?what does "wipe" in this case means, it definitely not means wash,else Allah would have used the same term. The verse also says that if you're in a state of impurity or come from toilet and there's no water then you can do wudu without water. I understand that verse above, what I want to know what method is used if there's water and you're coming from a state of impurity, do you do wudu as stated in the Quran 1- Wash the face 2- Wash the arms to the elbows 3- Wipe the head 4- Wipe the feet to the ankles. OR do we have to fully clean ourself (take a bath etc)? What about clothes that might be dirty, for example when you go toilet to pee, we are told to clean ourselves but this doesn't happen in western societies that much where it is normal to just pee and put your pants back on. I haven't seen any verse in regards to what to do in such circumstances. So if I pee put pants back on, after a few hours it's time to pray and I do wudu as suggested in the Quran, would my pray be accepted?

Csmith, Sure you do not have to share my perspective either, but it might be wise to consider everything or be stuck in a tunnel-vision. Concerning what I utter I do not do it unfounded but there is a huge deal of time spent researching. My "shahada" is although quite different from the typical person who adheres to Quran. For many people it is as if I do not adhere to Quran at all because I somehow found another book when I began to study it more closely. One way or another I think of not even challenging the traditional understanding but instead bring forth logical and rational alternative input. I can let traditionally inclined Muslims be and aim for people who like to widen their horizon. Besides my deviant view of Rabb I stick to the traditional abstention from the world common in religions but for slightly different reasons. To me the whole World including other very bodies is just not our true nature but our selves are somehow symbiotically merged with Rabb as we gain our independent awareness in Rabb. The World was created as a kind of test environment. This view is heretical in Islam I know, but at least I am not dishonest. And it is my work on deciphering Quran that has led me to this view. I see signs in (among poor translations of) Torah and Injeel with these famous quotes "Man was created in His image" "I am who am I" "I am in the Father and the Father in me" God and conscious (independent) creations are not separate but in symbiosis. You dwell within the consciousness of Rabb and your ascension to independent awareness makes you be alive. In fact my translation of the word Allah is 'Who Is', i.e easily said "Who Is alive" or "who exists". Unless you are one in Allah you do not exist. That does not make you even equal to Rabb in greatness, but you at least exist as a portion of the "Grand Consciousness" rather than a lifeless "automated" beast. Problem for common man is blindness from realizing this condition. A hint is how predictable you are in behavior. Try to see how often your behavior follows psychological studies. I think that both of you raise some good points in your posts. Unfortunately, it seems that there is a lot of prejudice and many errors in Aidid Safar's book. That being said, Aidid Safar seems to reveal some misconceptions about islam. It appears that there are some truths in his book. I think that it's important to be open-minded and be willing to read Aidid Safar's book, regardless of the baseless claims in it. I think that it is important to "separate the wheat from the chaff." Peace Taro, What separates a good document from a bad document is the number of errors in it, a good document is filled with truth and may have the odd little error here and there, a bad document is replete with errors and uses basic facts (which are known to all) to try and justify the rest of the lies contained therein. There isn't enough time in the world for anyone to read every piece of nonsense created by whoever and after skimming through it and reading 7 of its pages fully and seeing glaring errors every time I stopped I came to the conclusion it is not worth my time. A good document should have some kind of compelling summary or abstract, the first page is blatantly mistranslated (allowing me to know that the rest of the document is going to be full of mistranslations) and the introduction of this document is a joke.

From my understanding of the Quran, Adam and his wife were immortal and the kingdom (paradise/garden) they lived in was eternal/everlasting. But then Iblis deceived them and promised them immortality and eternal life. But the promise of Iblis was false. Because they were already immortal and they were already living in an eternal kingdom (paradise/garden). So Iblis promised them the opposite of what was true/real. Also, the Quran seems to suggest that when they experienced the tree, their bodies became apparent to them, and their sin brought them out of the eternal paradise/garden (a spiritual state of existence) and down to a temporary life on earth (a material state of existence). It seems that Iblis's aim/objective is to make us believe that there is nothing beyond this earthly life (i.e. no afterlife). Also, it seems that the story of Adam contains a lesson of obedience regarding God's laws/commandments. Thus, it seems that obedience is the key to immortality and eternal life. I am rather ssuspicious of thi "energy" thing. Seems to me like some fashion phenomena whereby you avoid getting into the substance just be substituting "enrgy". That is also energy or entails it? Why Iblees shuld choose naar and not wind for instance? The Gardin "janna" is from the same root j-n-n. baasic meaning of which is cover, conceal, hide, veil. The janna is dovered in shade an protected from the outside. I m not convinced Iblees is a being who is part of every human being, the ego or whatever. The human being ego or individuality or identity is rather renderd by nafs. Iblees is a nafs, a will, that is plain, but it is not the human being or a part of it. The Qur'an presents it like that. Then they shayatin. Could it be that Iblees is a shaytan but a covered, concealed one, who acts by deceit, whereas the shayatin who are not jinn are not covered, concealed, we clearly know they are shayatin, they do not take the rouble of appearin friendly or anything, something like Donald Trump. P So Iblees thinks of himself as naar as oppoed to the man made from mud. Does God say that Iblees is made of fire or is it only Iblees himself who says he is made of fire? That is very important question. Oviously Iblees consider himself way above humans and inmortal or at leas with a life period much longer than humans. What kind of being is he? Depends a bit on who one is talking to and where as well, I think those factors play into the degree of emotional attachment one 'feels' more so than the subject matter/opinions at hand. I.e. pride, how one is looked at by whom, reputation consciousness etc. I've seen people behave totally different on a platform other than a forum and vice versa. I agree that most of this is standard, as in if one feels that their opinions validate themselves/identity in a way, it will be across the board and mostly present in all situations...the exceptions could be with maybe someone they know well, or someone they want to know well, could be better in private or public and so on. These factors and more can and do influence the results. I also recommend a zen rock garden for when it gets to be too much. One can bash one rock against the other and achieve an almost unholy sense of detachment. Could also work by bashing ones own head against rock but not tested or recommended...yet.

Salam all, I have been doubtful about the life of Prophet Muhammad when he received the revelation and faced his companions if his companions asked him to make clear about the verses. I believed that there were companions couldn't understand clearly about some verses and needed the Prophet explain it it. However, in my point of view, I think that the prophet should explain to them, and would be model, and performed among companions. Later on the practice of the Prophet was told to many companions so called Prophetic tradition. Wallahu'alum, Allah has known best.

Certainly, many people received guidance without any books. The entire notion of "God(s) authored a book" was started by Ancient Egyptian. Dogmatized as such in order to make revenue from selling the "God's authored book". Inside it contains many things which is impossible to believe (or prove), thus the argument that "it was coming from God" will silence all the questioning. Let me remind you that this is GOD ALONE FORUM, for those who submit to the ONE GOD as stated by the Forum Opening page... WHAT IS ISLAM? Not so fast! There are entities out there and they are not limited to just one location of the earth. If they are ethereal they are not limited to any location at all. You would also be ethereal except that you are force-attached to a Body. Nevertheless, the word al-jinn in Quran does not refer to any such phenomenon. Be safe Amenuel
