Peace sushi1992, personally, I think that suicide (taking life of our self) is not as bad as murder (taking life of another). Honestly, I don't know if people who commit suicide will find peace after they died. That's beyond my knowledge. We should trust Allah. Allah takes care all of His creations, and Allah is the best Judge for your friend an for all of us. Peace. I agree javaLatte

ok so I remember somewhere that GOD tell us muslims not to pray in mosque where disobedience is preach or something. Now in a mosque I go to since it is the only mosque in my area, I don't see women in their probobly they are not allowed or something. If that is the case that is disobedience to God since nowhere in the Quran God forbid women to go mosque. So is it haram to go that mosque. And also do you attend any mosque cuz I am just curious. Peace kenybanez, InshaAllah, I will make it easy for you. Masjids are NOT for Salaats. You will never find any aayat showing you the relation between Masjid and Salaat. You can perform your Salaat at your home is the best, inshaAllah. May Allah increase our knowledge and guide us on His path pr mmKhan

Peace Marya and all, Granted that life and all sorts of things we have to face are not easy... I would suggest that you (and me and everyone) change perspective a bit... from the external (our friends, our religion, our past) and shift it to the internal (our current understanding, our current feelings and what's in our heart). I believe it is essential, critical and paramount to understand and realize that all that really matters to us is our INNER world, our feelings, our emotions, our mind, our thoughts, our beliefs etc. Our inner world does without a doubt determine how we experience life. That said, I would suggest you go into yourself and try to find peace in that which you believe in. That is, stick to yourself and don't worry about conforming to others. Be yourself! Either you be yourself, or you deny yourself and live a lie. Don't deny yourself! And don't think you must fit into a pre-shaped box. No! It's not about either choosing your muslim friends, OR your non-muslim friends. This is just another way of denying yourself. Either way you choose, you deny yourself... you just haven't decided which way yet. Your thinking is all on your external world, your friends. You need to look inside and feel what is right for you. It might not be any of these two choices. Life is not black and white. Also, don't expect or worry about any worst case scenarios where you imagine that your friends will leave you. Whatever will happen will happen, so don't image bad outcomes in your mind. If at all, try imagine good ones instead. The past doesn't exist except in your mind. There is no need to play old tapes in your mind of past events just to torment yourself, just as it is useless to worry about the future, which is also just negative predictions/fantasies of the mind. Like other people have said, as much as you can... live NOW. Don't deny yourself. If you live for your friends, to make them happy and accept you, you deny, ignore and reject yourself. Instead, love yourself... and love will come from the outside in the shape of friends as well. Don't judge yourself, and don't judge your friends... just BE... be yourself... and continue to grow, explore, mature, develop and live life. Enjoy life and enjoy the love which the Creator has created the world with. It's just a matter of perception. Most of us are blind most of the time. It's indeed a struggle to purify oneself, a lifelong one... but it is absolutely worth it! Warm regards and best wishes

Well it depends. sometimes 'too much sensitivity' on the penis is not good for man (or actually its more for the woman?) Aha!.. now I understand why Abraham (and Ron Jeremy) did it... rotfl rotfl rotfl Following are some of the functions it performs, and what happens if you surgically remove it Protection. The sleeve of tissue known as the foreskin normally covers the glans and protects it from abrasion, drying, callusing (keratinization), and environmental contaminants. The inner lining of the foreskin consists of soft mucosa lubrication layer, like behind one's eyelids, or the inner lips, thus protecting the sensitive glans. The glans (concealed in the picture) is intended to be a protected internal organ, like the female clitoris. The internal glans are highly sensitive, but after circumcision, begins to loose its sensitivity through abrasion in diaper or underwear. For the first few weeks, it is very painful to the touch of fabric or diaper. It is similar to the human eyeball, which is protected by the eye lids. One would not touch the eyeballs directly but over the eyelids only. After circumcision, the exposed glans begins to dry-out and keratinize (builds hardened cells on the outside as a defence from environmental contaminants). In normal activity during adult life, even after loosing most of the sensitivity through abrasion post-circumcision, the abrasion/chafing of the glans against underwear without the protection of the foreskin causes constant, irritating 'abrasive' feelings. This is very uncomfortable in reality. However, as the procedure is usually done at childhood and the discomfort is consistent from then on, the brain learns to cope with it by suppressing these feelings. Never the less, a conscious effort can reveal this discomfort during adulthood. Ridged Bands. The inner foreskin contains bands of densely innervated, sexually responsive tissue. They constitute a primary erogenous zone of the human penis and are important for realizing the fullness and intensity of sexual response. The Frenulum. This is a highly nerve-laden web of tissue that tethers the inner foreskin to the underside of the glans. Proper blood flow. The foreskin contains several feet of blood vessels, including the frenular artery and branches of the dorsal artery. The loss of this rich vascularization interrupts normal blood flow to the shaft and glans of the penis, damaging the natural function of the penis and altering its development. Immunological defense. The soft mucosa of the inner foreskin produces plasma cells, which secrete immunoglobulin antibodies, and antibacterial and antiviral proteins, such as the pathogen-killing enzyme called lysozyme. All of the human mucosa (the linings of the mouth, eyelids, vagina, foreskin and anus) are the body's first line of defense against disease. This benefit of the foreskin could be one possible explanation why intact men are at lower risk of chlamydia and other sexually transmitted diseases. Specialized sensory tissue. In addition to the "ridged bands" mentioned above, thousands of coiled fine-touch receptors (Meissner?s corpuscles) constitute the most important sensory component of the penis. The foreskin contains branches of the dorsal nerve and between 10,000 and 20,000 specialized erotogenic nerve endings of several types, which are capable of sensing slight motion and stretch, subtle changes in temperature, and fine gradations in texture. Thus, up to 20,000 nerve endings are destroyed by circumcision. Gliding action. The foreskin is the only moving part of the penis. During any sexual activity, the foreskin and glans work in unison; their mutual interaction creates a complete sexual response. During intercourse, the non-abrasive gliding of the penis in and out of itself within the vagina facilitates smooth and pleasurable intercourse for both partners. The shaft/glans also retract inwards/outwards throughout the day varying with bodily parameters. In an intact penis, the foreskin glides smoothly over the glans as necessary, excess skin gathers ahead of the glans and it can thus retract fully. On a circumcised penis, the cut foreskin buckle and crease against the stitched position on the glans as it retracts, preventing the glans from retracting fully. This push of the buckled foreskin against the joint (stitch) on the coronal ridge of the glans during retractions through out the day (as well as pull during erection) is unnatural and uncomfortable compared to an intact naturally gliding foreskin-glans combination. Circumcised males have to again, subconsciously learn to ignore the discomfort. Stinging sensations along the coronal ridge (stitched position) may be felt during adulthood. Proper lymph flow. The foreskin contains lymphatic vessels, which are necessary for proper lymph flow and immunological functioning. Langerhans cells. These specialized epithelial cells are a component of the immune system and may play a role in protecting the penis from sexually transmitted infections such as HIV (AIDS). Dartos Fascia. This is a smooth muscle sheath that underlies the scrotum, the entire penis and the tip of the foreskin. It is necessary for proper temperature regulation of the genitals (causing these structures to elongate in the heat and shrink in the cold). Approximately half of the Dartos Fascia is destroyed by circumcision. In circumcised males, the glans can become cold at times due to the missing temperature control mechanism (exposed glans). Sebaceous glands. The oils produced by these glands lubricate and moisturize the foreskin and glans, so that the two structures function together smoothly. Full penis length and circumference. The foreskin creates a visibly longer penis, especially when the foreskin extends beyond the head of the penis. Also, the double-layered tissue of the foreskin engorges with blood during erection and creates a visibly and sensually thicker shaft and glans. When the engorged foreskin retracts behind the coronal ridge of the glans, it often creates a wider and more pronounced "ridge" that many partners find especially stimulating during penetrative intercourse. The circumcised penis appears truncated and thinner than a full-sized intact penis. Zero risk of death from surgery. Every year, a boy dies from the complications of circumcision in the United States alone. Worldwide the figure is much higher, a fact that the American circumcision industry ignores, obscures, or downplays. Zero risk of delayed or diminished maternal bonding. Circumcision, even if anesthesia is used, causes unavoidable operative trauma and post-operative pain that has been shown to disrupt bonding with the mother, which in turn interferes with the first developmental task of every human, that of trust (trust in human contact, in personal safety, etc)." Oestrogen Receptors. The presence of estrogen receptors within the foreskin has only recently been discovered. Their purpose is not yet understood and needs further study. Muscle Sheath. Circumcision removes approximately half of the temperature-sensitive smooth muscle sheath which lies between the outer layer of skin and the corpus cavernosa. This is called the dartos fascia. Neurological Sexual Communication. Although never studied scientifically, contemporary evidence suggests that a penis without its foreskin lacks the capacity for the subtle neurological "cross-communication" that occurs only during contact between mucous membranes and which contributes to the experience of sexual pleasure. Amputating an infant boy's multi-functional foreskin is a low-grade neurological castration" , which diminishes the intensity of the entire sexual experience for both the circumcised male and his partner). (2) SATAN'S FIRM PLEDGE TO CHANGE ALLAH'S CREATION IN THE QUR'AN The Satan pledges to make mankind alter bits of what Allah has created. Allah tells us this information in the following Verse ", 'I will lead them astray and fill them with false hopes. I will command them and they will cut off cattle's ears. I will command them and they will change Allah's creation.' Anyone who takes Satan as his protector in place of Allah has clearly lost everything. He makes promises to them and fills them with false hopes. But what Satan promises them is nothing but delusion." (Qur'an 4119-120) As can be seen, the Satan pledges to make people change what Allah has originally created. The fact that Satan uses the Cattle's ears as an example does not at all mean his scheming to change Allah's creation will be limited to this. This is because Satan's goal is to make people change what Allah originally creates, not the act of cutting off cattle's ears which is only a means to the objective - he can take other means too. We know this from his statement, "I will command them and they will change Allah's creation" where he clearly states his objective. DIFFERENCES IN EMOTIONAL RESPONSES TO MALE AND FEMALE CIRCUMCISION The female circumcision can vary from removal of the clitoral hood, the clitoris it self, to the entire labia majora and minora. In reality, male circumcision is too an amputation procedure involving significant tissue removal, which destroys the functionality and sexual capability of the male penis to a significant extent. However, the response to female circumcision is often starkly different to the male. The reasons to this are several folds but primarily that of 'cultural acceptance'. In parts of Africa, it is normal to circumcise girls and they have 'justifications' for it too. The erroneous belief that circumcision prevents Penile Cancer This is a very rare form of cancer that happens mostly to elder men from age 40 and above, but most cases are in men aged 60 and over. This cancerous growth can occur on the glans or the foreskin. Circumcision does not prevent penile cancer. In the United States, most men with penile cancer are circumcised. It is a rare cancer - in the UK, only 500 men are diagnosed with it each year. The rarity of this form of cancer manifests when this figure is compared with 35,000 men diagnosed with prostates cancer each year(5) ! However, does circumcision reduce the risk of penile cancer despite it being a very low risk cancer already? Basically, by removing part of the penis in circumcision, a part of the penis is not there to develop cancer. This is the same as saying, by removing the liver, we eliminate liver cancer! It is obvious to a thinking person that this sort of prevention where healthy parts of the body with many functions is simply cut off is not a way to prevent a disease which has not even occurred, and moreover which has an extremely small chance of happening. In addition, a recent study done my Wallerstein found that circumcision does not help reduce the risk of penile cancer as the rates of penile cancer in Japan, Norway and Sweden (countries with low rate of circumcision) was the same as United States' (which has a higher rate of circumcision)(6). In view of all that has been said, the 'Royal Australasian College of Physicians' and the 'American Medical Association' made a statement saying that carrying out infant circumcision with the hope of preventing penile cancer is not justified(7), with the 'American Cancer Society' also holding the same view.

I believe and trust in God Alone, do righteous good deeds but also some unrighteousness deeds eg. I am in a relationship but not married - don't do ritual prayers but pray spontaneously to God Alone, give charity, fast during Ramadan for some of the days, but not on days when I am traveling, which I do every Ramadan as it is my holiday break, I some times study and read Quran but not every day. Am I still a Muslim?

Well a hug can be very innocent while a handshake or even a look can be salcious, always depending on the person involved. That is why the Qur'an says that "the garment of righteousness is the best", and this inner attitude is also important with physical acts.

Agree on this one, kudos to MoF. Others seems to be either feeling 'insulted' or responded with irrelevant answers. Perhaps they were disturbed with the (valid) question itself. Perhaps he did, yet in any case there isn't any available now. Correct, I've read many other books, many of those is very humble in the sense of it doesn't even bothered to claim as "inspired from Heaven". Yet I (and many others) found the content to be inspiring. It's as if the 'author' of those 'humble books' asked to be 100% judged by it's content and not by it's 'origin'. Although I wouldn't call the "Quran" as the 'best', I would put that as 'among' the books that brings inspiration. My impression of the Quran is more of 'delivering an ultimatum' towards its audience. Behave or be destroyed And then it goes further explaining through 'stories from the past'. More specifically, stories from "Jewish History" up until 600 AD. And it's very clear that the book called Quran was written for the audience with some degree of familiarity of Jewish Legends and Tradition. Asking them to learn a lesson / contemplate from their own history. The content of the book will be meaningless if it was delivered to the 7th century Chinese or Native American (for example) As they're not familiar at all with the stories being told in the Quran. I found some books within the bundle called Tanakh as inspiring as the book called Quran. Some books such as Book of Yehezkiel or Book of Isaiah makes a clear reference and contains a claim that the author himself wrote that book, and all that is written there is true to his knowledge. Something which doesn't exist in the Quran (and other books). Thus I wouldn't say that it's a hearsay. If it's being called as hearsay because none of the original material exist, then that criteria could also easily being applied to Quran. Thus Quran is also a hearsay. I might advise of not losing your objectivity on this. That is "By the same criteria you applied upon others make sure that you apply it on yourself". And by the way, I got the above 'concept', which makes sense to me and inspired me, from the book of Gospel. Correction, Torah in Hebrew means "Law" or "Binding Agreement". It can be an abstract entity and survived through oral transmission, as it's very difficult to write in > 1000 BC when the chinese haven't invented Pen or Paper. Even in Jesus era (0 AD) where Pen and Paper is already available. The Tanakh books is very expensive, in comparison it cost roughly the same as today's brand new Ferrari sport car. Thus not everyone is able to own it. And the same thing to the book called Quran. Not everyone in 8th - 15th century might be able to afford it. Perhaps it is, it was originated through knowledge and the knowledge is spread by this Jesus character and other people wrote it down later. Despite it's dubious origin, I found many of the concept being written in the Gospel to be inspiring as well. Many of it actually makes sense. Perhaps it's not in entirely original or brand new (as the same concept can be found in other older books / materials as well) but it does makes sense and shape my view. Thus 'inspire' me. In the end it's always a 'pick and choose' mechanism, as truth and falsehood is everywhere. Salam / Peace I must honestly admit that I agree with all that @Jafar have said here! Thanx

My qiyas (qiyas only. I'm neither an analyst of fiqh nor can I issue a fatwa) would be the following, in the end Allah knows the best. Regarding position/method of salah Rules of handicapped or disabled person applies to an astronaut. Perform salat however possible. Are there any such rules in the Quran? Do we perform or establish salah? 2.Time of salah All their daily activities are divided by 24h period regardless of their days being only about 90 minutes. For ISS for example, they follow times of (at least) both Houston,Texas,USA and Moscow,Russia. The way I see it, they have about 16 opportunities a day for each salat (16 times for one fajr in 24h, 16 times for one zuhr in 24h and so on). I think this is the fundamental concept that's debatable. There is no mention of 24 hour period for salah. 11114 Sahih International And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at the approach of the night. Indeed, good deeds do away with misdeeds. That is a reminder for those who remember. 1778 Sahih International Establish prayer at the decline of the sun until the darkness of the night and the Qur'an of dawn. Indeed, the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed. So choose 12am of Houston or Moscow to count your 24h period. Perform fajr at when it seems dawn from ISS. One has to be very quick for fajr as s/he gets only about 2 minutes. Then at the same or different 90 minute cycle, perform zuhr at appropriate time from ISS (not Earth time). The time duration of zuhr and asr (also maghrib and isha) may be considered as one (like the day of Arafah) for convenience. There are some situations in outer space that I can't even imagine a solution for. Would things be different if one orbits the Earth east to west (sunrise would be from the west and sunset in east)? What about for long distance journeys in outer space, for example 3 day journey to moon or 6 month journey to Mars? What should be the rule of fasting up there? East is the place of rising of the sun so it does not matter which direction you are going. 2258 Sahih International Have you not considered the one who argued with Abraham about his Lord because Allah had given him kingship? When Abraham said, "My Lord is the one who gives life and causes death," he said, "I give life and cause death." Abraham said, "Indeed, Allah brings up the sun from the east, so bring it up from the west." So the disbeliever was overwhelmed , and Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people. I leave it to your qiyas brother. Rules of fasting can be a different topic. Brother see my replies in red above.

Peace Wakas, I really appreciated looking into your article on the (in)famous 434 at http//www.quran434.com/wife-beating-islam.html. I finally actually got around reading your whole article. I think you nailed down the true action after the talk to the wife and abandoning her in bed. Making the current marital problem known must be a priority rather than pretending there are no problems, and as traditionally thought, beat the crap out of her. And I think you solved the issues that the new-old interpretation has with separation which does not add up totally. I felt I had to read it because I currently have a problem explaining that verse to my former sectarian wife that finally has begun to leave the idolatry behind, but want reasonable and logical explanations, and I could not do that myself, but after reading your cross-references to other instances in "Qur'an" I was able to understand that the can hardly be a physical hit. That was a deep-rooted problem due to the fact it is so very indoctrinated even into the very dictionaries which can explain why it has been so hard to find a viable alternative interpretation for it. Not sure if I have given you any credit for your works before, brother Wakas, but I thank you for your efforts and I can imagine it has taken you countless hours to analyze and find the answers we have been looking for. You also solved minor errors due to the correction of the word in the context elsewhere in The Book. Hit a dead body with a heifer, sounds a bit weird. God bless you
