Salaam Jaskaran - it's good to see you here! As you can tell from my username, you know who I am. I hope you find this forum helpful in learning more about Islam and Quran only approaches as well as possibly understanding some more "controversial" issues, as described by some, in the Quran.

I think the only way I'm going to be able to read the quran how it should be is to learn arabic lol. Am I not just taking someone elses word for it that their translation is what the quran says? You can definitely learn Arabic if you want. I would say that you don't need to or have to. As God is the Guide, I believe if you pray to Him for guidance, you can understand the Quran through translations and using the transliteration occasionally. This resource may help http//www.islamawakened.com/quran/default.htm It has many translations for each verse including a transliteration at the top. Soon if you follow the transliteration along or listen to the Quran being recited you'll notice certain words and themes become much more familiar. Some things in the translation are agreed upon, I may have mentioned this in one my earlier posts. Some things aren't. I think by praying to Allah to guide you, you will become familiar with what does and does not fit. Many things are repeated in the Quran, I believe this helps those who are non-Arabic speakers to understand and identify or check particular ideas. There's also the issue of for e.g. cutting off a hand for stealing. We can take a look at the point that other crimes do not require removing limbs - this is quite straightforward. Then, Prophet Yusuf's example in relation to this. It can take a bit of time, I think you already know that, but its definitely achievable for non-Arabic speakers.

Peace You can ask god to help you achieve your goal"obsession of coming to the us", but remember that those who ask only for this life will get their wishes, but they will have no share in the other. i was planning to go to Hollywood since 1991, i was praying, hoping, planning, saving money, learning the language, writing have you done at least 10% of that to go to heaven, what if you die tomorrow.? Maybe God does not want you to get the $300,000,000 because then you will became like them. Remember that it was said that it will be easier for a camel to pass trough the eye of a needle than for a wealthy to go to heaven. I would not waste my money in lawyers. Accepting a job without the appropriate visa or working permit in the US means that they will revoke your visa and deport you for long time, and yes they use undercover agents to see if the people entering the country will break the law . you can search that on the web brother, save your money.

Welcome sis! Im glad you used the brains Allah gave you ! I feel exactly the same way you do. Especially when I first 'found the light'. I get passionate easily and I experienced the same hulk syndrome whenever hadith was mentioned or when anyone attempts to interpret the quran using it. But i have learned to calm down and just chill. Its less taxing on my nerves this way! Plus i was on the verge of being self righteous and arrogant and I dont think Allah would want us to act the way even if we possessed the truth, and insha Allah we do. As for coming out of the closet, i definetely would not do that unless you are more calm and can control your emotions regarding this newly found truth and get rid of the grudges you have against, what seems like the moshriks, around you. Or else you will push many people away from you, not because of your path, but because of your attitude. Trust me, i was this close to losing my best friend because i confided in her too soon about this. She still keeps a certain distance from me today, and we rarely ever talk about religion since then. And like fallen angel, do it when you are confident in your arguements because you will not face anyone with this news without them trying to convert you back and prove you wrong. Insha Allah everything works out for you. There is a lot of support in this forum, feel free to get some!

Salam Aleykom! What a coincidence. I was just reading some of your old pro-sunnism posts the other day...masha Allah. amazing how someone can change. I'm very curious to know what Student of Allah told you that convinced you, so I will sort through your posts and find out (I think it could be of great reference for when talking to my sunni friends). I'm not going to say Congrats on finally finding the right path! Because I'd feel sort of self righteous, and I'm constantly ignorant of my "path" status with Allah. I'm always hoping I'm being guided and that I'm on the right path. I feel like if I had been wrong before, maybe I could be wrong again. Who knows. But for now I feel sound, al hamdulilah ). But I want to congratulate you on your own personal spiritual evolution! Just a quick note in case you are wondering where I am coming from I am a practising Orthodox Christian (e.g. like the Greeks and Russians, Copts etc) but I accept that Muhammad was sent by God and the Quran is inspired of God. My aim is twofold to get my fellow Christians and westerners to honour Muhammad (or at least, not to produce some of the absurd hurtful stuff about Muhammad). They do not need to accept him as a prophet, but at least respect him. to get the Muslims to respect (Eastern) Christianity, and that the negative sounding verses in the Quran are actually about a specific Christian sect in Arabia and the East at the time of Muhammad. You do not need to go to church, or to accept any specific Christian belief. I think I can only proceed with point 1 after some Muslims accept point 2. How does this sound? Peace, peace, peace. Peace! It seems you already feel the connection with God. Perfect! One advice from me is that you should be careful about what you think Islam, or islam, is. Don't rush! Remember God is greater than all... (actually, even using the word 'greater' implies comparison, and is not befitting when thinking of God). Ask for guidance. Ask to be shown truth and reality, and to be able to handle it also! As far as I have seen in the world... the amount of "religious piety" is inversely proportional to the amount of openness and softness of your heart. Of course this is a generalization, but keep in mind that it is from religious people we learn about religion, and it also seems that it is exactly those religious people that are least open and humble (in the real sense). And you want to learn about religion, as far as I have understood. I think your aim and desire is awesome. You have the initial sense of God, and you sincerely want to learn more. This is great! Now you need to watch out in order not to be duped and swayed away by "scholars'" arguments that will end up just giving you fear and hassle. So, ask Allah for guidance and truth. Ask Allah to make you strong. Ask Allah to let you not be touched by falsehood. Desire truth, WHATEVER it might be. God knows what it is. Ask for it. And don't fear anyone or anything except Allah. Ask Allah to teach you the Quran. Allah will teach you. Trust your heart and intuition. Ask for softness and openness, and you will find it easier to sense what is good. We can all sense it inside, but mostly we are numb and distracted. Often we know what is right and good, but we don't want to listen. As long as we follow the guidance from Allah, we will be in joy and success. I wish you great success in finding the truth! Peace!

In my humble opinion you were right to conclude (drawing inspiration from a simple cell phone) that there is an intelligent design behind the way this universe works, Assalamu alykum brother Mubashir as u can see, i stated earlier that, a simple EXAMPLE is enough to realize the DESIGN made by ONLY ALLAH... if we are arrogant, we will argue on that matter... it is a FACT, that ALLAH stated many times in al quran that there is a VEIL before those who are ARROGANT, so, they will NOT SEE... i do believe from deep, A FEW EXAMPLES are enough for those who take HEED, and a thousand is NOT ENOUGH for those who are ARROGANT... thanks for WELCOMING me, brother... ) PEACE...
