I was just wandering is there anywhere in the Quran that says that you must be dressed well for prayers? I have tried researching it but I couldn't find anything. However I do think that I read somewhere in the Quran that you should dress well, but that might be only for Friday. ? Thanks I think its about being clean. I pray with pyjamas all the time but then again I mostly pray in private.

( This verse can be used to imply that Solomon missed a contact prayer) Hence the prayer that was missed by Solomon was a prayer before the Dusk prayer. Again the middle prayer is NOT A FIXED PRAYER. So Sura 2238 isn't redundant. All it is saying is to Maintain the contact prayers (which are fixed prayers dawn and dusk) AND a middle prayer (which is not a fixed prayer). The reason it not being a fixed prayer is because this prayer is in working hours of the day. (the time which we are usually preoccupied) 2239 But if you are in a state of worry, then you may do so while walking or riding. The Assembly prayer is another sign in the Quran that points to a middle prayer during the working hours of the day. 629 O you who acknowledge, if the contact prayer is called to on the day of assembly, then you shall hasten towards the remembrance of God, and cease all selling. This is better for you, if you only knew. 6210 Then, once the contact prayer is complete, you shall disperse through the land and seek God's provisions, and remember God frequently, so that you may succeed. There are also other verses in the Quran that indicate a middle prayer which have already been posted on this forum topic and many others. One sign that I found out a few weeks ago was that there are only three verses in the entire Quran that says to face towards the Restricted Sanctuary (2144, 2149 and 2150) . Could this be a coincidence???

You cannot translate wusta as "balanced salat' since it doesn't make any sense. Also the middle salat is a ritual prayer. If you become secure, then remember God as He has taught you what you did not know. Would you be in a state of worry if the pray wasn't a ritual one? This is a very simple analysis. In addition your translation Sura 11114 is repetitive since both ends of the day would already imply a dawn and evening pray 11114 You shall hold the contact prayer at both ends of the day(arafayi) and the near part of the night (This is repetitive ). The good deeds take away the bad. This is a reminder for those who remember. arafayi (comes from ) Tarafa which means Sides; Parts; Extremities;Edges; Edger, Fringes;Ends If i translate tarafayi to means 'two parts' it doesn't become repetitive My translation 11114 You shall hold the contact prayer at two parts of the day and the near part of the night (This isn't repetitive ). The good deeds take away the bad. This is a reminder for those who remember. My translation would imply three prays plus it isn't repetitive like your translation . The two parts of the day are already given in the Quran as dawn and middle and the near part of the night is the evening pray. In conclusion I agree with you that we are both set in our ways. That kind of a metaphorical representation in the mind, of God as a king, is wrong I think, because He clearly states in Sura 112 that "None equals Him." So NOTHING is similar to God or equals Allah! One of the most catastrophic mistakes was in the Biblical statement that God created human to His "likeness" i.e. human is similar (?) to God? ?God created man after his own image; in the image of God he created Man?, (which in my understanding, is the greatest insult to God ever made, a great calamity. How can a weak creature on earth, a bug, be compared to the One Who has control over everything in the infinite universes He created?-citation from realquran.net) Nonsense! Same as some Brahmanic doctrines (see next post where I paste a good text on that). That kind of prayer might give some emotional satisfaction to the ego, but I think that's not the point of salaat. Salaat is not a substitute for an imagined contact with "somebody", or an internal dialog with an imagined recipient ... Peace GODsubmitter peace I cited treating the Almighty as a King, as a note to reverence. Also, The Almighty is indeed a king! one of his attributes is being The King (i.e the only Rightful King of the universe). I Mean, if insignificant human rulersd want to be directed with "your majesty", then the Almighty should be directed to as His Suprememajesty hail Also, to the after his own image/likeness. I do not think this is a mistake. I do not think it is an insult either. People can very erroneously concieve it as after physical terms, but this is not the case. None Equals tyhe Almighty ofcourse! I think by likeness it could mean attributes! like rulership. This is because the verse directly after that in Gen. Verse 26 states that His Most Supreme Majesty gave Adam & his wife (i.e humans in general) dominion over the animals etc. This is what i think of "likeness" (i.e dominionship). Other key description points that conform with "like our own likeness" are Creativeness (humans have ability to create things) Compare with the Almighty creating all things Intelligence ( Humans can think/perceive) Compare with the Almighty endowing everything with his knowledge & mercy Aestheticness (Humans can appreciate beauty) compare with the Almighty perfecting everythings Morality (humans love, like, dislike etc) Compare with the Almighty having his own sense of likenesses and unlikenesses All of these can infact be traced to His Most supreme, high Majesty's "likeness" but NOT not in physical terms like in Quran 4211 nor like your example of having a complete equal 1124) Another intrepertation is the Spiritual/moral concept of Humans, since in this case (i.e after our own likeness) would make humans different from animals which were not made "after our own likeness". Such is the case with biblical translations. I would think you have to slowly take a step back, and wonder Why this/that was stated (i.e is there wisdom behind it). The Quran confirms the Torah, and even set's a negative view on the jews who came to the Prophet Muhammed for judgment by saying how will they make thee their judge seeing THEY HAVE the Torah, wherein is God's judgment in 543, also in the same sura, the Almighty states that the people of the book shall rule with the Torah/Gospels Jesus & Muhammed Confirmed the Torah, and corss referensed to each other (e.g eye 4 an eye). Also, His Supreme Majesty states that the jews "Twisted" God's words, and as conforming to his statement that he cited for us from every example in the Quran, His Most blessed Majesty cited for us jews twisting the Almighty's commandments by stating that basically they don't really have to be that trustworthy with the gentiles (with the case of lending in quran 377), However This is NOT the case as the Almighty Commanded them to do righteous in judgment etc. For your citation of Jeremiah 88 and the Corruption of the Torah please see http//answering-islam.org/BibleCom/jer8_8_ss.html I Think there is great wisdom in the previous scriptures, even His SUpreme Majesty describes them as guidance & light. Key points of the NT is Exaltation/arrogance leads to being debased, while on the other hand, humbleness leads to being exalted. Also sinners are "welcomed" as His Most Supreme Majesty is Immense in Mercy (as seen a couple of parables as lost son and the lost coin etc). We are not held accountable to uphold the laws in the OT or the NT, because the Quran is the latest edition. Nevertheless, we should not rule out the previous scriptures as rubbish, because at some point, they were divinely revealed in some way. ~ Most Blessed, is his Most Supreme, High Majesty, YHWH Lord, King of the Universe! ~

May His Most Supreme, Wise Majesty Guide us and resolve our disputes & Shortcomings!

Peace brother, That is a very good point. One thing we have to keep in mind; one cause can have many effects and one effect can have many causes. So it is not just one thing alone that makes reciting salat in a middle tone the best, it is a diverse range of things. I am more concerned with the learning/reprogramming side of it and how to achieve a state of accelerated learning. Why? We are all in a race, a race against who? For one, a race against all the other people rushing to do deeds, we will each have our ranks in paradise or hell. But there is a race closer to your heart, the race against our own foolishness. If we are too slow to keep up with the ego/nafs then the ego/nafs will drag us to hell. It is the dog that pulls the throne of your soul, and we cannot fight it and win, nor can we surrender to it; this is the stalemate that tests us so hard day in day out. As far as I am aware salat is the only thing that guarantees that we can win this race and as far as I have experienced it is the only thing that truly removes tiredness from the person. Perhaps people with "chronic fatigue syndrome" might heed! Again, peace!

Well #2 in your original post has no solid grounding in al-quran AFAIK. The correct saying is in 2195. And 2186 makes it abundantly clear that ALLAH listens to all his servants. The others are self-evidently true. Peace, may you find eternal stillness in the chaos

peace all, Consider WHAT are the possible reasons for having a clear mind and knowing what one is saying? List them. This would imply the the task undertaken involves saying something clear/sound thinking, a subject one is familiar with knowing meanings of words being used well thought out, sincerity best done when one is sharp of mind That are the possible reasons, but think, WHY does one need the above? You may wish to apply them to the Classical Arabic meanings given. Whether one takes it as physically and/or mentally cleansing oneself. Consider WHAT are the possible reasons for doing such a thing? List them. I'm sure we have all experienced that after we wash our faces for example, we feel more fresh/alert/awake. After a shower for example, we often feel more relaxed/calm. If one were to come into contact with others, then of course, being clean is a good thing. Note, if we take the regular/timed salat, as a daily thing, then these verses also indirectly emphasise the importance of having access to water. Since no-one responded to part 6, it would be inefficient for me to continue the class. I have therefore locked the thread and removed the "sticky" from the "salat" section.
