Brother Zlatan, I may have misunderstood what you are trying to say. In case you were trying to say that the SALAT was prescribed at a certain time, then I respectfully disagree with your statement. The reason is the fact that you cited part of the Ayah and left the beginning of that sentence. Ayah 4103 fa-itha itma/nantumfaaqeemoo alssalata inna alssalatakanat AAala almu/mineena kitaban mawqootan but when ye are free from danger, set up Regular Prayers For such prayers are enjoined on believers at stated times. So, it is not something that was ordered at a certain point in time, because it follows an order form of the verb in the present tense. Another proof of the fact that SALAT needed to be done at certain times is this 3830 And to David We granted Solomon. What Solomon is saying here is that he spent his time looking at his horses until the sun totally disappeared and therefore he missed the time of THIKR of his GOD, which can be easily understood as part of SALAT. If the THIKR was not a timed thing, Solomon would not have said what he said Salaam all and have a peaceful day hussein

peace be upon you, Well, I don't see where is it stated, that they should build "new" homes. Anyway in this verse there is no command "yet" to leave Egypt , and the children of Israel under the ruling of Pharaon didn't have much choice to build houses where they liked! If you recall from the Quran they were treated as slaves in this period. There was no command in that particular caption of the story but only a few verses later we see the pharoah drowning. Plus in the next verse we see moses speaking about pharoah and his commanders, therefore I think its reasonable to assume that 1087 is telling them to establish homes. Enough with this though, to get back on the subject, we can clearly see that "qiblah" is not something we face towards wherever we go which is impossible physically and 1087 is more proof of it. Peace, i think as people move off this planet into outer space , can you imagine them still facing jerusalem or macca e.t.c hard to imagine for me. Not only that but its not possible for me to face Mecca or Jeruselam while intact in California knowing the earth is sperical/round, unless the entire earth's crest/surface in pitched flat within a spherical plain. i think its like any drug if people get started on them and because they get contentment from these crutches they feel good and then can't let go , even if you explain what are the benefits , if any? That's so true but then eventually they end up rehabilitated and/or brain-dead. lol i think it just splits people apart then anything other. beatnik, once again, thanks for the reply. I think while reading translations, getting into semantics can throw you off, coz different words mean different things to different translators. A little logic usually helps, imo.

Peace brother Idris, I think that 95's clarification is in 911. Here is my translation of 911 If they repent and maintain the learning connection and bring the purification/betterment then they are your brothers/sisters in the obligation and we detail the signs for people who know. In 95 and 911 the context is clearly corrective action. Corrective action requires that one first recognizes that his way is wrong (i.e., learns from his mistake), correct/improve his way, and finally is committed/obligated to the new way. Thus, maintaining commitment as a first step is actually counter-productive because he was committed to the wrong thing. Commitment to the new correct course is needed AFTER one learns from his mistake and makes things better. The meaning of "deen" is obligation, which is almost a synonym of commitment. Another point is that how do we know where the kaba is, it could be anywhere, becuase from what i have read, it does say that the 'kaba' is in mecca (Then again I might have missed something out D ) I must stress that i am not perfectly sure about this issue, so I welcome any positive/negative criticism. Peace Antar, I think that is great, if it's no hardship on you then it is good and no-one should stop you from standing devoutly to recite GODs revelations or to think about GOD. People are different and if you wish to pray 5 times which is more than people who pray 3 times or twice like me, then thats OK. You have your understanding and you don't have to explain yourself to anyone about why you pray 5 times or 10 times to GOD! Peace Nural

As'Salaam Alaikum, Without going into too much detail, I agree with Idolfree that the "between" times are best for establishing salat . I do not have a set method, instead I respond spontaneously to the energies around me. Sometimes it is easier for me to establish the link simply by meditating on the Qur'an, sometimes I use the mind/body union that comes through what some may call "ritual" salat. I will also pay close attention to the awareness of the point between my breath when I am reciting ayats, because this point "between" is also important. As it has been pointed out... we must "establish" salat, this is different for different people. Some may be able to establish salat simply by reading, some may need to align their physical and mental being, some may achieve this just by slowing their breath down along with their mental activities. I do not think there are hard and fast rules, I think each individual should find what works best for them and then be consistent with it as much as it is possible. Dawn and Dusk, mindfulness of breath, and reciting the Qur'an work best for me, and sometimes when I feel it is necessary I throw in some moving meditation. Ma'Salaam, Olu'sanya

I will, In Shaaa Allah, look into it. I did, however, find this one http//www.avesta.org/avesta.html and I noticed only one semi-similarity and it is the five peroids of prayersbut what is said in them is way too different than what we say and recite, not to mention the timing. It is not identical to the Sunni's. Anyway, I will still investigate further, and thanks again i think there are two sects in zoroastrianism and they both do their ritual prayer a different way, sound familiar?

Peace be upon you Thesis 125, The word being translated as "friday" means assembly. The verse is basically saying when you are assembled and it is time for the "salaat" leave all that you are doing because the LEARNING PROCESS is what will bring the God's help, not any buisness transaction.

Peace be upon you, No it is not. I made the same mistake myslef a while back. Salaat is S-L-W, the root for the word you are talking about is "W-S-L"

We have revealed to you a message from us. The object of telling mosses history is clear by 2099.From 20100 to 20135 my observation is that the this part is addressed to the Prophet Mohmmedthe proof is the following verses They ask you about the mountains. Say, "My Lord will wipe them out. surely no one is asked me or you guys about the mountain but Prophet Mohammed was asked Most Exalted is GOD, the only true King. Do not rush into uttering the Quran before it is revealed to you, and say, "My Lord, increase my knowledge." i think the message in the above verse is clear Therefore, be patient in the face of their utterances, and praise and glorify your Lord before sunrise and before sunset. Salaams idol, i think you may use other words in place of AL aswell see page 74 of lanes . But you can't use word for word translation arabic to english or vice versa i don't think - due to barriers in langauges and because identical words don't exist. But using your word learning process is okay too , because a salaat is for learning/teaching/solving e.t.c Nice discussion, Salaams.

Assalamualaikum, Happy Idl Fitr to all ) I came to this conclusion few years back even when I havent known the concept of free mind muslim that Allah is the most knowledgeable of what is going on in our mind and heart, so He will give you what you deserve to have if you give away charity with pure mind based solely on humanity, without thoughts of riya i.e. showing off, the one that is count is your heart and intention, not the final results or where the charity end up to, as long as you don't not know if it's gonna be used for bad cause.
